Alright, guys, I got the phonetic alphabet up. The romanization table should be accurate now. It was all a big mess before, so it may not be just right yet. Also, if someone could check my IPA and ASCII IPA use, that'd be swell.

Any comments, suggestions, complaints or anything?

Oh, and I have to go through all the words and update their romanized forms, but I don't have time for that yet. Soon, soon!

It's funny how some of our letters turned out very similarly!

my i looks *almost* the same as your i: (same pronunciation)
b/h and v/u: both look like turned-about versions
(mine/yours)

I am now amused.

Well I'll be damned! I just now looked through your Kintarasesa thread more thoroughly and found your alphabet (way down there). Unless you just recently added it, I must have only seen the sample image in the first post and not looked much farther down.

I do kinda see what you mean though. For clarification, however, I made the H that shape because it's part of a Valentine's-style heart (my girlfriend's name starts with an H). As for my I and your I, and my U and your V, I guess that's just coincidence. I formed my vowels by having each one have connectors on each side, and some kind of circle, loop, or wave between that. There's only so many variations I could come up with, and just assigned each sound a vowel letter as I came up with them. I know it came out kinda ugly in my paint version, but the U is supposed to look more like an upside-down O. It'll be more obvious when I get a cleaned-up version posted.

Just wanted to clear that up. I don't want you thinking I ripped-off your letters. domokun

Oh, I didn't think you'd ripped off or anything redface
I just thought it was funny how similar they were. Another one of those "Languages seem to link up" things that happen for no apparent reason biggrin

xD
I've noticed a fair bit of similarity between Kintarasesa and AquƩnandi as well...particularly the vowels in the verbs. 'E' for present, 'A' for past, and 'O' for future? xd

I think all this comes from how we, as humans, are limited in our ability to create beyond what we already know. That, and the limitations to our verbal and written communication abilities.

Oooh, and I'm going to be taking an introductory German class this fall semester (my Freshman year in college) so there may be a lot of German-influenced changes coming.

Just bringing this up, I've got a name for my more complex version of Danga, and it's "Anzer Pex."

In it's own language, Anzer Pex means "the ultimate language" (informally) or "the absolute solution to expression of thought" (literally).

Anzer means solution, secret, answer (cognate), proven effective method, etc

Pex means mind, thought, sentience, consciousness, conscience, etc

I'm genuinely considering scrapping Danga and focusing only on Anzer Pex... or maybe making Danga the "layman's Anzer Pex".... If you are familiar with Egyptian languages, this would relate Anzer Pex to Heiroglyphics and Danga to Demotic (a later, more common form of Egyptian language).

Hello, folks! Wall of text below, skip it for the real news.

Danga has received an overhaul! Now, some of you may know that Danga came first as my very first attempt at a conlang, and it was a disaster... then it inspired me to create Anzer Pex, which is wonderful, but lacking completion.

Originally, Anzer Pex was supposed to be complex like Classical Latin, and Danga was supposed to be a retardedly* simple version of Anzer Pex, retrofixed from what Anzer Pex would eventually become. However, it turned out that Anzer Pex became very, very simple, with one solid word order and nothing more than words and particles to remember. Now, Danga is the super complex one, but still Danga is meant to have naturally descended from Anzer Pex (even though the original Danga came first, it doesn't count anymore). Sure, many natlangs become progressively simpler as they develop throughout history, but surely this doesn't have to always be the case?

*No offense to anyone, I mean 'retardedly simple' as in it was so simple that ANYONE could learn it within a matter of a few days, not counting vocabulary.

Danga's guts have been all switched around. There is no longer a pure 1-to-1 sound to letter correspondence. Word spelling will be mostly regular, but with occasional irregularities. Spelling and morphology will be fairly complex. Unlike the isolating/analytical Anzer Pex (and original Danga), this new Danga will be fusional like a Romance or Germanic language, featuring verb conjugations, and possibly some type of case system. I'm planning for a fluid word order with few particles, but we'll see how that goes as everything progresses.

THE REAL NEWS

I've finally got new, working content for Danga! I'll be updating here after this post here, and possibly over the next week or more (depending on how long I stay on this).

A NOTE ON FUTURE PROGRESS

Danga will not be able to be completed until I can get Anzer Pex's vocabulary to a less embarrassing size, as a majority of Danga's vocabulary will derive heavily from Anzer Pex's. However, there will be many new, 'original' words that I will make independently of Anzer Pex. These words will probably be retrofixed into loanwords with their 'origins' in some other Athnamasian conlang.

ANYTHING ELSE?

Yes. This probably means I will again be inspired to further progress on Anzer Pex. One of these days I'll get Anzer Pex to a point where I can translate things without having to make a new word for half of the words in each sentence!

2~~~ALPHABET AND ROMANIZATION

I haven't made a conscript for Danga yet. I will probably take the old conscript and make something newer and better out of it.

Until then, all the important information will be in Section 3 - Phonetics and Speech. So far, there's mostly pronunciation and morphology information. I might have to reorganize my section names...

I want to see samples! And why is your photobucket album private? I wanna see the rest of your pretty scripties. sad

1. No samples. I haven't even made the conscript yet. :b The one I linked to is an old one that I made over 2 years ago, and I never really liked it much. I only linked to it because the new conscript will probably be based off of the old one, but only slightly.

2. It's private because I only want people to see the specific images I give out links for. If I decided to upload a pic I don't want just anyone to be able to see, I'd like to know with confidence that it's up to me who gets to see it. This is my only image hosting account, and I use it for everything, not just conlang junk.

3. You've seen all my 3 conscripts. Theres the old Danga conscript in the quoted link, the space pirate conscript, and Anzer Pex. The only other script related images in my photobucket are the ones I posted in my font thread (for samples of the fonts).

Rest assured, if I had any other conscripts (and I wanted them to be seen), I'd make a thread in the Conscripts board. With samples.
