If I were to breastfeed I would prefer to do it in a room for that, but I'm a very personal person.

Tomoe_Gozen If I were to breastfeed I would prefer to do it in a room for that, but I'm a very personal person. And that's COMPLETELY understandable. It's your choice to feel that way. And I see nothing wrong with you wanting to breast feed in private. What *I* take issue with, is all these kids in that thread saying all breast feeding mothers should be FORCED to do it completely out of view of anyone else. As if breast feeding mothers are some kind of lepers that shoudn't be seen at all. I agree that a mother should try and be discrete (ie: not flashing their boobs around or having a neon sign above their heads that says, "Look at me! I'm breast feeding!"), but some of the suggestions these kids would have mothers try are ridiculous! ~Stay at home all the time... ~ Make babies take bottles or formula no matter what... ~Go into some potentially nasty bathroom to feed... ~ Magically know a 2 week old baby's "schedule"... ~Etc. I just cannot stand the gross ignorance of those in that thread (and of Gaia ingeneral). Anyway, I feel breast feeding is a personal choice and how you chose to do it is also personal. I don't think a bunch of idiots should be able to make a mother feel bad or embarrassed for simply trying to do what her body was designed to do. Them boobs weren't put there for sex.... but you can't tell some of these kids that!

Well, if they´d had to grow up with younger siblings, that would´ve helped these kids to understand that their suggestions AREN´T plausible. Unfortunately, they likely didn´t. Or at least, if they did, they weren´t involved in taking care of their sibling when it was still an infant.
But, yeah, kids can be that way.. Gaia seems to be a cesspool of ignorant, bratty kids. o.o I was actually VERY surprised ot find this Guild (with, you know, ADULTS!) on Gaia.

Had a woman tell me to take my baby to the bathroom to nurse her once. I asked her if she'd care to bring her dinner and join me. She of course refused because the bathroom is dirty. I glared at her and asked, "Then how can you expect me to do something to my daughter that you won't do yourself."
I'm a proud member of The Militant Breastfeeding Cult.

This is a little off-topic, but when I was pregnant I rabidly read any books/websites/forums/articles I could find on all things Baby. Right from the start I was really keen to BF Theo, so I read a fair bit about it- and I came across this article in a magazine about different methods of having children (if you couldn't concieve naturally), and their pros and cons. There was IVF, adoption, surrogacy......anyway to get to the point redface apparently in Western parts of the world, optional surrogacy statistics are soaring. Rich women are paying other women to carry their children for them. Not because they can't, but because they don't want to be "fat" and have stretch marks, or get saggy breasts! these women pay inordinate sums of money to have a child without giving birth. They could use that money to adopt a child in need, but no, they want "their own", like a child is a possession like a car or a yacht. Sorry for getting off topic- but I just think this whole taboo thing about birth and bodies and so on is absurd. Something that is so natural should not be such an issue.

Neko girl Manda XD That is awesome: someday, I will use that one! Go for it. I actually got that idea from my friend. Kept complaining that people were telling me to "Take it to the bathroom" And that's what she told me I should say back. Orophin xd i was about to say "Yeah! me too! if anyone say something like that while i'm.. "... but i wont be... XD... if im feeding a kid in public it'll be a bottle.. As long as it's breastmilk, it counts in my book. I'm very anit formula. Mainly because I wasn't producing enough milk with my first one and I had to suppliment. She now suffers from asthma and is almost always ill, while my youngest has never had near the ammount of health problems. I started supplimenting my oldest at 4 months, my younges weaned herself at around 10. I highly attribute her health to breastfeeding.Tomoe_Gozen I told that one to my mom. She said, "Go you" Tell your mom I said thanks. Izzy has been known to nearly get into fist fights over people sitting there staring at me and making off comments. He's such the protective and supportive daddy.

It goes with the stupidity of people idea of this thread. I've noticed that the more *cough* well off *cough* people of this country see children as more of a status symbol. Not there to be loved and raised by their "parents", but to be seen for an extremely short ammount of time, shown off to their "parents" friends like one would show off a new necklace, and sent away. It's sickening! In come cases the children even end up calling their nannies mommy or daddy and not their "parents" because they're not around. They simply don't care. To those kinds of people, children are just another form of jewellery.

Good post, Mara-ani! And I agree with you and Illiana on it as well. I would do a more in depth rant about it of my own, but it's late and I REALLY need to get to bed! So look forward to a rant from me on that subject tomorrow! whee
Also, since I made the title of this thread pretty vague, then I decree that we can use this thread to post about things that stupid people do or say that piss us off stressed . So feel free to use this as an all purpose, stupid people-rant thread!
*Will update the first post to reflect this decree*

Yes, breast milk is a very healthy thing to feed a child, but it doesn't completely mean that the child will be healthier. Both of my cousins were breastfed. Ricky had almost constant ear infections and Alesha had at least 5 a year for a while. Also whether a child will have asthma or not can't be completely based off of breastfeeding either. My son's father was breastfed and he has worse asthma than I do. Sometimes it's just up to the child whether there will be so many health problems. My asthma has more to do with the fact that my father smoked for the first 5 years of my life than whether my mom breastfed me or not. It's all circumstance.

Illiana! I'm a member of The Militant Breastfeeding Cult too lol. I have seen boobs when mother's BF, but it was like for a second. Not something I stare at lol. I mean I used those special bras, which I know some women can't, that only show your n****e but like I flashed it around. No way! I always tucked my kid under my shirt then fed her lol, but some women can have a hard time with this. But yeah you're right about the gazillion kids and teens on here. lol I've dubbed myself the old lady at another guild lol. Very few adults there, or they are mostly younger than me lol. Welp I'll check back in in a bit have to get the daughter off to Kindergarten soon.

Right I've got the shrits so here's my rant. I work as a teachers aide in the local high school here. I'm with the special ed faculty because the grl I'm funded to work with is there also.... Anyways.... For the last three weeks I have been chasing her father up to try and get her a laptop so she can communicate better with the other students/staff around her. (She has cerebral palsy so she has no speech and has to use a frame to walk around.) Her parents split up a few years ago and the long and the short of it is that this guy (who runs a very profitable business) has been wasting my time having to chase him up on the phone while I should be working, to try and organise his sorry a** to get down to the computer shop and look at this laptop I organised for him. Finally I get him pinned down so I wait i the shop for alf an hour until I have to leave and get back to my family.... He turns up and has a look at the computer 15 mins after I left.... Then I call him (again) the next day to find out that he's not sure if it's right for her because he doesn't think she can use it. The (expletive)doesn't even know what his daughter is capable of because he hasn't taken the time to (double expletive) learn to communicate to her. scream scream scream *at this point antonio's head explodes*
