Behold, thread necromancy for fun and prophets.
~ Why you find true the beliefs that you follow.
Cause I just do. :/
~ Why or why not you think the bible has been edited.
'Course it has, it's been translated - many times over. Plus, given that it was hardly copyrighted (unless you consider the wee warning at the end of some editions one), any powerful institution in antiquity could've taken hold of it and changed it.
~ Why or why not you believe in and practice magick or do not.
I believe in and practise magick for the thrill of it, for the hours I can lose researching and experimenting with it, for the edge it gives me, and because I'm good at it.
~ Why or why not you believe in the spirit world or not.
Depends what you mean, since a lotta terms in magick get redefined overnight, it seems, but assuming you mean some sort of realm of ghosts - I believe in it sometimes, because it's a nice neat way of tying up loose ends about what happens after we die and all.
1. you reap what you sow/Kharma or Dharma/The golden rule/Newtons third law. That rule I think is one of the most important to remember. IT stays true in all belief systems for the most part. Proving it's validity.
~Discuss ~What version of that rule you follow and why.
I think a lotta folk misunderstand Newton's third - it's not like, if you curse someone, you get cursed back or something queer like that; if that were true, we'd all avoid punching people in the face. XD I don't really follow this rule per se, but I shy to the side of not doing something terrible and awful, just in case something bad does worm its way back to me. I dunno, maybe I need to work on that one.
2.Give a little bit of everything you get. Some call that tithing, some call it bribomg Kharma. some call it doing a good deed, but if you have ever given selflessly chances are you know how good it feels, almost as good as sex. Which is why I deem that as a universal law, though some might not.
~Discuss ~Whether or not you share what you get and why or why not
I don't share unless I feel inspired to. I tend not to simply because - hey, in the grand scheme of things, my not-sharing-of-something won't always have a definitively bad result, and likewise, my sharing-of-something won't always have a definitively good result. I do share when I know I'll get a good result from it, or a reward (tangible or no).
1.Love is the highest law. Basically whatever you do if you don't do it with the spirit of love whether it be friendship, just listenming/caring, or just screwing, do it with love or the intent of love.
~Discuss ~ Why or why not you agree with that law and pretty much the same sort of discussion that the other three points have.
LOVE IS THE LAW, LOVE UNDER WILL. Not that I'm a Thelemite, nor do I understand that phrase, I just really like it. XD The word 'love' is kinda vague, and to be honest, I like to experience emotions other than love all the time.

~ Why you find true the beliefs that you follow. The things that happen connected to my beliefs are just too... freaky to be just pure chance? I follow them because I am drawn to these beliefs because no one system of belief can satisfy me. I know that I cannot be one or the other and have both. So I am neither. I live by what I have found to be true and what has worked for me. It's just that simple, I suppose.
~ Why or why not you think the bible has been edited. Oh it just has. I don't feel there's a real need to explain why I think so because the people here have most likely already stated things far greater than my own reasoning. [I never got around to finishing it.]
~ Why or why not you believe in and practice magick or do not. I practice magick like those 2 atoms of hydrogen and that atom of oxygen. I believe even that man in the copy room is doing magick. It's everywhere. I don't know how to put it into words. It just kinda is? Just depends in how you see things. "Magick is the Science and Art of causing change to occur in conformity with Will," Magick in Theory and Practice by Aleister Crowley. I stick by him on this one.
~ Why or why not you believe in the spirit world or not? I believe in it. Why? Hm... I guess it would have to be because... I believe in reincarnation. Where else do all the tired souls chill out before coming back? xD

Mitsh Behold, thread necromancy for fun and prophets. Woot to your godly powers! ~ Why you find true the beliefs that you follow.Um. They work for me. I'm not saying they're flawless, but I like them. They provide a template for me to work with. ~ Why or why not you think the bible has been edited. It's been edited, translated, mis-translated, mis-quoted and otherwise given various particular "spins". What it basically boils down to is people presenting the material in the way they feel it shows to best advantage. If somebody really firmly believes that there was a virgin birth, then they will insist that there can be no other translation. If somebody like, oh, I dunno, Paul (who I'm not a fan of) decides that it must be edited and rewritten to provide the uneducated masses with inspiration to form a close-knit activist society with militaristic overtones - well then gosh darn it, he's gonna do that. That's actually what makes it a fascinating historical text. There's political influence all over the thing, up to and including present day, and the bits that were edited out are every bit as telling as the ones left in. My favorite being, of course, the World's Best Chain Letter, aka the Revelation. It stays in over countless editions not because of its relevance but because it specifically states that anyone who takes it out of the Bible will be cursed. I enjoyed reading the Nag Hammadi as well, which was basically a series of ecstatic texts with occasional periods of lucidity. Good times, man, good times. ~ Why or why not you believe in and practice magick or do not.Since I firmly believe that "magic" is basically just a matter of doing things in a way and with tools that other people wouldn't have thought of or considered workable...yeah, I do it all the time. And sometimes even in the way it's conventionally meant. So what if people don't think it's realistic or possible? My AP History teacher thought "opine" wasn't a word. And she was wrong as well. ~ Why or why not you believe in the spirit world or not.Been to a few of the places. That certainly helps firm up the ol' belief muscles. A family history of seeing ghosts probably also helped shape my wee young impressionable brain. Not that I ever saw one until I was 24, but...well, the people I knew who'd seen them had no reason to lie. My mum never went in for fantastical tale-telling. As a general rule, she could make a torrid romance novel sound like a textbook. Which means if she said she saw someone who she knew was dead knocking on her bedpost to wake her up...yeah. That's probably what happened. And the other levels (of the spirit world - astral plane, upper/lower/middle realms, underworlds of various kinds, etc)...that just makes sense, especially if you get excitable as to quantum. Which I do. 1. you reap what you sow/Kharma or Dharma/The golden rule/Newtons third law. That rule I think is one of the most important to remember. IT stays true in all belief systems for the most part. Proving it's validity.
~Discuss ~What version of that rule you follow and why.Standard law of attraction - if you do everything with a nasty intention, you're going to attract people of a like mindset (and you're more likely to notice that kind of thing). Conversely, if you decide in the moment to make the day better for someone who's being a p***k, they're less likely to continue on being a p***k the rest of the day, if only by a slight margin. Then it gets into mathematics. By putting little vectors of happy-joy-joy-love-whatever into the day of other people you come into contact with...it's statistically more likely that people whose lives you have indirectly made a bit less hellish will, in turn, not end up indirectly adversely affecting you. So I go by the permutation of "spread the love" or, for the traditionalists, "it never hurts to be polite". 2.Give a little bit of everything you get. Some call that tithing, some call it bribomg Kharma. some call it doing a good deed, but if you have ever given selflessly chances are you know how good it feels, almost as good as sex. Which is why I deem that as a universal law, though some might not.
~Discuss ~Whether or not you share what you get and why or why notWell lookie there, I think I just combined the two laws into one. Hell, I think even the third one goes into combination mode. In other words, sharing is an extension of being pleasant or polite. When I am well off, I offer others the opportunity to not be worried sick about money, thus acting like dickheads. (This happens. Try asking me a polite question while I'm paying bills. Then enlist help hunting for your spleen.) 1.Love is the highest law. Basically whatever you do if you don't do it with the spirit of love whether it be friendship, just listenming/caring, or just screwing, do it with love or the intent of love.
~Discuss ~ Why or why not you agree with that law and pretty much the same sort of discussion that the other three points have.I call it "not being a d**k is the law". So, you know, you don't condemn people outright, you do your best not to grudge, and you remember that the people you randomly come into contact with are PEOPLE. Just like you. Who may also be having a shitty day or similar. Yep. It's that "do unto others" thing again. It's all about the empathy, baby.

~ Why you find true the beliefs that you follow.
I belive the truths that I do, beacuse well, I actualy don't know... sweatdrop
~ Why or why not you think the bible has been edited.
well, (when) in the course of human events (it become nessesary for on people to dissolve the political bond... [no just kidding xp ]) but what I was saying is that, beacuse the bible has been translated through let's see about five or six times now, people make mke mistakes in transating and can make hand written errors as well. So I don't know if you can really blame people on the bible being messed up....
~ Why or why not you believe in and practice magick or do not.
well, I belive in magick beacuse I have seen it's effects. Although ironicly I can't say I actualy preform magick all thast much, mainly beacuse ... I'm too lazy to realy look into magick, and am content with just making psiballs and preforming basic telekenisis
~ Why or why not you believe in the spirit world or not. Well I belive in the spirit world, or heven, or vallhalla or some after death land were souls exist, together beacuse, almost all belife systems have one and after being told one exists long enough it seems very logical that one of some form or another MUST exist ~What version of that rule you follow and why. The version I follow is that God said to obey his laws (which basicly said be a good person) and you will live for ever in his glory bla bla bla. But I mainly follow the be a good person rule beacuse of the basic rule that you, as a person DO actualy affect the world, If every one on Earth just said that they themselves can't affect any thing, and then just did bad things all the time, then the world would be an evil place. 3nodding ~Whether or not you share what you get and why or why not I like to do nice things for that warm fuzzy feeling, and beacuse I'm a Boy Scout and, well I used to need them to advance, but I'm past that point now. But ya, I just feels like the right thing to do.... Well, that probably roots from my pessimistic view of the world and people in general, however thats not the current topic.
~ Why or why not you agree with that law and pretty much the same sort of discussion that the other three points have. It seems like a good law, but I'm just bad at it... oh well sweatdrop

~ Why you find true the beliefs that you follow. Because they feel right. It just feels like it's true. I don't go around telling people that I'm 100% sure what I believe is correct; sure, it's possible that what I believe is nowhere near what happens in reality. But it feels right to me and ultimately, religion is a very personal thing.
~ Why or why not you think the bible has been edited. The Church used to (and still does) manipulate others: individuals, governments, etc. Of course, people of power in the olden days added on to the Bible, changed it, took things out, etc to benefit themselves. Heck, the Bible was written by human beings; even at the time of its creation, it had to have been edited to produce it.
~ Why or why not you believe in and practice magick or do not. I believe in magic (I refuse to spell it with a K) because it ties into my religious beliefs. It feels right, like it comes from the Earth and nature itself. There are so many things we don't know we're capable off. All magic is is discovering those things that are less known or still unexplained by science.
~ Why or why not you believe in the spirit world or not. I'm not sure about this...I believe in a spirit world, but have no idea as to the details. Maybe it's like the astral plane...I do believe that it's much 'closer' to the physical than some people make it out to be. We just choose not to pay attention to it.
~What version of that rule you follow and why. Karma, the wiccan rede (although I'm not wiccan per se), the threefold law.
~Whether or not you share what you get and why or why not I do sometimes, but not always. If have an apple, I'll offer half to my friend. Sometimes I won't bother or will forget. I don't just give away my money to people, but stop to give change on the street and let friends borrow money when they need to.
~ Why or why not you agree with that law and pretty much the same sort of discussion that the other three points have. I don't love the bum on the street, but I still give him/her money. I don't love random passerbies, but I still smile as they walk past. Love is not the ultimate goal to me; self-discovery, happiness, caring, and respect are.

~ Why you find true the beliefs that you follow. Is "Why not?" an appropriate answer? There is also the fact that I've come across nothing better. A little short, but that's fine by me~! ~ Why or why not you think the bible has been edited. Just like all other religions and texts. The people who started it/wrote it have long since died, and thus the original concept is fairly well lost. Since that point in time, people have edited, translated, and interpreted the bible in whatever way fits their cause best. Not to mention a bit of addition and subtraction that went on ... ~ Why or why not you believe in and practice magick or do not. I am really more inclined to think of magick as more of an affirmation. When you do this sort of thing, you are not so much "casting your will into the ether" so much as you are imprinting you goal within yourself. From there it is a long list of actions (that you may or may not be aware of) that work towards that particular goal. If you do something to help you gain money, you will either be more observant and find some on the ground, or you will act in a way that is more conducive to getting a job.
Not to rule out the possibility of the ether method... I make it a point to live by "anything is possible, just not necessarily probable." ~ Why you believe in the spirit world or not. Optimism. I think it would be rather lovely if there was a place that people went when they died. If not, that kinda sucks. I choose to believe it because I would like to meet up with old friends some day, I suppose.
