As Itsuki walked quickly towards the antique shop, he found himself fiddling with the necklace as he thought about Urahara and the others. It wasn't until the boy touched the door handle to the store than he noticed himself now gripping tightly onto the piece of jewelry.

The Simu blinked and released his hand and headed quickly into the shop. He pushed aside any thoughts he might have came up with about the necklace.

He had something more important to focus on.

They could leave to rescue the others tomorrow morning?

Itsuki blinked and looked up at the clock. At this rate, the boy was eager enough to have left right now. He knew waking up early would not be a problem for him at all.

"...I can go get some supplies." Being the youngest at the meeting, he felt a small need to prove himself useful with this mission, "Someone could come with me to help carry things, though." Secretly, he hoped Kyoko would offer, though he wouldn't admit it.

He began to go over a plan of his own in his head: getting supplies--what would they need?--packing up his weapons, getting to the boats and leaving... The idea of going out on a mission to the islands had become more and more exciting for some reason. In fact, it was giving him a tingling sensation in his chest right at...

Actually, right underneath the necklace. Instinctively, he fiddled with the tooth on the necklace and felt himself wanting to leave as soon as possible. It was more than just the mission now... but why was he so interested? He was never particularly interested in water before.

Its nothing. ...Just my first real mission, that's all, he rationalized then pushed the thoughts aside.

(Assuming he took it with him. XD)

While on the boat, and while the sun's still shining and the only salt water is the seaspray from the sides of the boat, the necklace seems to finally find some sort of life. It isn't very noticeable...

But the bead at the end has changed color.

The tingling was getting just a tad bit annoying.

Staying upon on the deck had made Itsuki feel like his neck was going numb. Ever since getting on the boat, the skin around his neck was giving him a tingling sensation. But now, even as the boy had descended below the deck, the sensation hadn't changed much.

"Maybe I should take it off..." Itsuki looked down and thought he noticed something different about the piece.

I'm just imagining things.

...But this feeling is getting troublesome.

The boy proceeded to remove the necklace and hung it from a screw in the wall. He stared at it for a moment as he rubbed his neck, the feeling most definitely gone.

It started to replace itself with a different feeling...

"O-oh god..."

Itsuki quickly found the nearest trashbin and emptied the contents of his stomach into it. Waves of nausea seemed to come with every sway of the boat, that seemed much more sensitive to now, and the boy felt it safe to stay by the trashcan.

What... am I seasick? I heard about it but--aagh. ...Why now?

Itsuki could only let out a whimper.

Now this really sucked.

. . . . . When the boat rocked again, he remembered why he ventured to the storage room in the first place.

"U-urk! Excuse me!"

Itsuki dashed out of the room faster than he anticipated, pushing gently past Yeste' and hurrying to his room. In his haste to reach the trash recepticle in his room, he nearly ran into an end table and knocked over his necklace on the wall.

When he leaned over the trashbin to accept the unevitable, Itsuki was bewildered to find the nausea completely gone.

And the necklace had fallen back around his neck again.

Itsuki stared down at the bone charm, confused at how the item was back on him. A slow replay of the mad dash in his head confirmed the falling of the piece neatly around his neck. That question was answered, but onto a bigger one now...

Why did he feel so much better now?

The nausea caused by seasickness was completely gone now, so Itsuki stood up and sat on his bed. All thoughts of Kerryn, Yeste', and Urahara were gone for the moment as realized he couldn't ignore this necklace any longer.

Itsuki could not deny something strange had been given to him. Undeniably, he had received his first unpleasant wave of seasickness after removing the necklace and now, as it laid happily against his collarbone, he felt fine. The small tingling returned to the skin that the hemp and beads touched, but it was not noticable compared to his previously upset stomach.

What the hell was going on?

Itsuki lifted up the necklace in his hand and scrutinized it with his golden eyes. "What's up with you? Are you cursed or... blessed or something?" He felt something tugging him to return to the boat deck, despite the storm. No way in hell am I going up there, sorry.

Great, was he talking to this thing now? I must be losing my mind...

Itsuki found himself glancing anxiously out the doorway of the storage room. He was really interested in talking with Yeste' and Kerryn, but he couldn't bring himself to focus totally. In the back of his mind, he kept finding himself thinking, I wonder what it looks like outside... Of course, Itsuki would remind himself, Storm, remember?

After Yeste's statement, Itsuki replied "I have nothing personal against water, really. I just don't like being cramped up underneath here." The electric sensations in his neck were going haywire and the boy was beginning to get rather antsy. He finally sighed, placing his hands in his pockets, "I wish the storm would stop."

Yes, stop so I can go back out on the deck. On the deck, near the water...

The thought made Itsuki curious and wasn't sure where it had came from. Was it really from being cramped up below deck or was it something else? There was a nagging feeling in his stomach as if he hadn't eaten in days, making Itsuki more miserable by the second.

"...There is nothing to do." He stated, finally.
Damn, he would give anything right now to be making landfall anywhere soon.

SOMETHING was calling to him, he finally decided, after the forth thought consisting of deck passed through his mind. Ah, it would be nice to feel the sea breeze on his face, look out across the horizon... Even if it was a storm!

What?

Itsuki was thankful for Yeste's question, able to distract himself long enough to answer. "Life is boring for me. I've trained a little, wandered around town, got this necklace, and now I'm on this mission. Its the best thing that's happened to me so far." It wasn't a lie, was it? Not much had happened, but he could have said something, something about the stone... or those nightmares. But he hadn't.

And how was this trip the best thing ever? Itsuki was baffled by his own thought processes. Just when he considered calling himself possessed, he reminded himself why the trip wasn't that great.

He was being stuck inside a boat during a storm... in the middle of nowhere. Instead of at least outside! Damn storm. What I wouldn't give to be on one of those islands right now...

"I can't wait until we hit land," he finally stated, again, after a few moments. Itsuki was plainly aware of how he must have sounded, having such a one-track mind, so he added, "I'd like to see what I can do in a real mission."

When Yeste' brought up the idea of getting stranded, one part of him seemed to consider it.

After Itsuki thought over the prospect of being stranded on the island, he shrugged, "Well, it would be a nice change for a little while. But it'd probably become really boring." Although, the sudden images coming to him of sunbathing on the shore, climbing trees...

... was definitely not appealing to him! That was not his style at all!

At least I'd be stuck there with Kyoko and Yeste'... and maybe even Urahara. He reasoned, but chose not to voice aloud. Was that just an excuse?

"...I wonder if the storm stopped yet?" he noted the boat still rocking, but he couldn't tell if the rain had ceased. The anxiousness was consuming Itsuki, he felt as if his legs would promptly fall off if he didn't get moving (hopefully upwards) soon. To this he suggested with a small mischevious grin in Yeste's direction, "I think I'm gonna go check... wanna come?"

I just can't take staying down here any longer... What's happening to me?...

Itsuki had become used to the constant tingling the necklace provided during the boat trip, but now that the Simu was back in his apartment... it was gone. Boy had found it odd, and was sure the feeling stopped not too long after he first made landfall. He ran through the possible reasons in his head and decided to believe the one about seasalt getting trapped in the hemp. Yes, that sounded good.

It was better than his most recent suspicions...

Since the seasickness episode and the strong desire to experience the storm on the ocean, Itsuki had begun to wonder just what kind of necklace he had received.

"I hope it's not cursed," he mused aloud as he laid in bed the morning after his return. His fingers found their way to the artifact easily and played with the beads and bone charm now out of habit.

No, it probably wasn't cursed. Maybe blessed? "Who knows." The boy sighed to himself and looked out the window. The morning was bright and the sky was the same as any sunny day, but it didn't cheer up Itsuki. There was a dull ache in his chest that he only experienced when he went without ramen. However, he had ate some last night, so it wasn't that...

The boy rolled off the bed and onto his feet and once he prepared to steady himself for rocking, that's when it hit him. Its because of the island, isn't it? Now you're making me miss it? He rubbed his forehead, And now you're making me go crazy. Talking to a necklace. Hrn.

"Itsuki? Are you up yet? I made breakfast!"

"...Yeah." He lifted up the necklace enough so he could see it and thought firmly, Just be normal, alright? Hn.

A Simulacra be normal? Pshaw. As if responding to Itsuki's question, the necklace's other beads also changed color and warmed up considerably.

After eating breakfast, Itsuki headed to the bathroom to clean up before exploring the streets on Halloween. Once he made his way to the room, he splashed water on his face. It wasn't until he wiped his face dry that he noticed the heat on his neck. He thought it might have been something that might have gone away after cooling his face off but now the feeling was still there. ...and on a closer look in the mirror, he could have sworn the beads of his island necklace had changed colors.

"...What the hell?" Itsuki lifted up the necklace in an attempt to examine it and found it hot to the touch of his fingers, as well.

So something is up with this necklace..., he thought. But what?
PostPosted: Sun Nov 06, 2005 1:05 pm

As soon as the necklace was formally recognized, it began to glow a bright blue, heating up till it became almost painful for Itsuki. It sure was having fun, for a necklace.

"O-ow!"

Itsuki let go of the necklace, only to wince when it came back into contact with the skin of his neck. He quickly tried to remove the item, but was anything but quick about it, as he tried to untangle it from the other necklaces he wore and then finally around his mess of hair.

Once the boy dropped the hot object onto the bathroom counter, he noticed the blue glow emitting from it. "...What now?" he asked, in an annoyed tone.

And then, almost instantly, the necklace stopped glowing and went cold, but no sooner did it do that than a teen peer over Itsuki's shoulder, watching the necklace with a most amused grin. "I think you broke it."

"You think so? But I didn't--" Itsuki looked up and spotted in the mirror a very un-Ian figure standing behind him. In fact, he didn't recognize him at all.

The boy turned to face the stranger with a raised eyebrow. "You came from this, didn't you?" To clarify, he picked up the offending necklace.

"I might've. Or from the bathtub... which one do you think sounds cooler?" he grinned as his comment annoyed Itsuki further and he continued, "Anyway, the name's Matareka."

"Matareka... right. I'm just going to call you Mat." Itsuki slipped the necklace back over his head, now that it wasn't burning him for kicks anymore.

"Me? No, that's my bunny's name!" The teen tried to look offended but couldn't help but to grin anyhow. A moment of silence passed between the two before Itsuki headed out the door.

"Great. Another weirdo."

Mat called out to him after he left, "Wait! I was just joking... His name is actually Lapaki! ...Eh, wait up!"

Mat followed Itsuki out to the living room and glanced at the humble offerings of the apartment. There was a small couch with a coffee table infront of a small television. He had no clue what the appliance was for, but before he could examine it further, he heard a shriek to his left.

"W-who are you?"

The companion turned to the direction of the noise to find a young woman eyeing him from what seemed to be the small kitchen. Itsuki sat on the couch and looked to her as well. "He's the weirdo that came out of that necklace you bought me."

"Weirdo?" Mat folded his arms across his chest, "Hey shrimp, that's not a nice way to treat someone you just met, you know."

Itsuki began to glare at him for the comment but only rolled his eyes when the teen stuck his tongue out at him.

"...He came out of the necklace?"

Ian walked out of the kitchen slowly and continued to watch Matareka carefully. The teen soon noticed her gaze and watched as she slowly ventured closer. Seeing a great opportunity, Mat suddenly lunged at her with the fierced growl he could manage.

As expected, the woman yelped and fell backwards, leaving Mat to crack up laughing and Itsuki sighing in disappointment.

"That's Ian, she's the one that owns this apartment and takes care of me. ...Though sometimes I wonder who's doing the caretaking."

Mat grinned and kneeled down to look at Ian, "So you run this place? My name is Matareka. I guess I'll be staying here... so I'll try not to scare you so much."

Ian blinked a few times before standing up, "Um... Make yourself at home, then..."

Itsuki stood up and headed for the door. Looking back, he announced, "Ian, I'm going out." The woman looked over as she straighted out her skirt, "Why don't you take... Matareka with you?" "Just 'Mat' is fine, that's what the shrimp calls me..."

"Take him?" Itsuki interrupted and sighed, "Fine. C'mon, let's go." The simu headed out of the apartment, the teenager following behind shortly.
