Luna simply stared at Elle, not fully comprehending the emotions suddenly crossing her consciousness. Happyloveembarrrassed? What? Luna didn't get it. confused
She did, however, like the idea of being read to.
Picking up on Luna's projected reaction to the idea of being read to, Ying perked up. "Read history book?"

"Okay, which history book?" Elle asked, not sure if Ying had one in mind or not. She didn't just want to pick up a random book... and be wrong! She waited to see what Ying wanted, and held out arms for Luna. Did Luna want to come sit on one side of Elle's lap?

"I get to pick a book? Really?" Ying's eyes lit up as she dashed back to Junyi's office.
As Luna happily crawled onto Elle's lap, Jokeph couldn't help but smile and shake his head, shoulders shaking slightly as if he were laughing at Elle.
"You made a biiiiiiiiiiiiiig mistake asking her to pick a book," came the chirped translation. "You may end up putting yourself to sleep. Be careful."
Ying quickly returned, barely able to carry the massive book in her hands. She dropped it with a flourish in front of Elle, chest heaving slightly with exertion as she took a seat next to her.
The book itself looked more like an academic textbook, imposing and scholarly. On the plain cover, embossed with gold foil, was an even more imposing title.

"Huh?" Elle asked, staring at Jokeph. After all, what kind of book would someone that age want anyway? She was a little girl!
...oh.
Right, maybe asking hadn't been a good idea. It was a very pretty book... but would Ying even understand one sentance?!
Elle sighed inwardly, and reminded herself that she'd asked her to pick. So she'd just read it now. "Analysis of Political Structures during the Three Kingdoms Era." Elle started, and went on to read the first few pages.
She did, however, grab a toy for Luna to play with in case the baby got bored before Ying did.

Ying hung on every word, eyes wide with awe as she listened to Elle read the book.
Oddly enough, she DID seem to understand most of the ideas contained within the cover. She grimaced a bit at some parts, less out of confusion and more out of disagreement with some of what the book had to say.
Luna simply enjoyed the sound of Elle's voice, leaning against her and sucking her thumb thoughtfully as she listened to the book.
And as for Jokeph...
He simply curled on the floor and closed his eyes, yawning.

The book did make Elle drowsy, and she couldn't help but yawn occasionally. It was interesting in a way, but Elle hadnt' expected someone Ying's age to understand it better than Elle.
She looked up at Jokeph, all cute on teh floor, and couldn't help but feel that feeling again. That feeling that wasn't normal-like!
...Elle looked down and continued to read the book.

Ying still watched Elle with wide eyes, happy to finally hear how the big words she didn't understand were pronounced.
Finally! The chain of command of the Shu-Han, just the way it was meant to be read! It was wonderful! Magnificant! Stunning! Beautiful!

Luna's eyelids drooped, and she finally fell asleep, thumb in mouth.
Perhaps Jokeph would've looked dignified sleeping on the floor if he weren't mirroring Luna's moves exactly.

Still reading, Elle only glanced at the other two every few moments. She'd shifted to adjust Luna so that the toddler wouldn't wake up stiff and sore, blinked in confusion at the adult lying there with thumb in mouth.
It was a very long book, and Elle knew she had to stop by the first chapter. She was glad that the kid was happy, that made up for everything else.

The thumbsucking seemed to be a response to Luna's actions; Jokeph's eyes slowly opened and he stared at his now free hand in dismay before turning his gaze back to Luna.
A yawn, and he finally pulled himself back up.
"Sorry." Although Jokeph was serious in his signing, Zohar couldn't seem to stop giggling. "Do you want bigwing to take her back to her mother?"

"I like being around them," Elle said with a hint of hesitation in her voice, quickly adding to herself, 'The book reading sucks though'...
She looked down at Luna, who was asleep anyway. And if Jokeph slept when Luna slept, then that'd spoil anything. Elle didn't want to be around someone who wasn't aware of her being there!

Elle knew Jokeph was right, as much as she hated to admit it. She nodded, shifting slightly. "You're right, I just haven't seen many people lately."
...which was a little sad, Elle realized, that she wanted to spend half her time with a toddler anyway. Luna was fanastic, but she'd never know what Elle's feelings meant, she'd never understand! That could be a good thing though, really...
Oh well.
"I guess you can?" This time, Elle's voice had gone a slightly pitch higher and her face had reddened the tinest bit. Maybe she would pretend she was sick after all, and go home. And run... she didn't know what to do when she felt like this. Maybe google would know that too.

"I like you too." Elle replied, and inside felt another odd rush of embarrasment. Having never really had a crush before, it was all confusing her. Maybe she was sick?
It was all too much for the poor teenager, and she continued, "But I guess I should go home... but it was nice to see you... all of you... again?"

Jokeph smiled a bit more brightly.
"If you have to go home, then don't let us keep you here. But you're welcome to visit us at work or at home whenever you want."
A pause as Zohar read Jokeph's quick signing. "Bigwing says it's refreshing to meet someone who isn't scared of or mean towards him. He also says he hopes you have a safe trip."
