Definately the KOEI sequels. It's just the same game only with a new character every now and then. And FF9. That game was horrendous. I was bored out of my mind within the first hour of playing it.

Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door had the WORST ending. Upon beating the final boss, one exp. is gained, the credits roll, the game returns to the first town, and allows you to save. But unlike Pokemon, you can't go back to re-fight the final boss, and there's NOTHING else to do once you save in PM:TTYD after beating the final boss.
Also, Super Paper Mario is going to suck so bad. It totally ruins the point of Paper Mario being an RPG by excluding the battle system and level system. If I wanted a Mario game that wasn't an RPG, then there's every other Mario game with FOUR EXCEPTIONS: Paper Mario for N64 and Super Mario RPG for SNES, as well as the Mario and Luigi handhelds for GBA and NDS.

There was this great adventure/RPG (it's been so long since I played it, it's hard to say which would be the better way to categorise it - it had elements of both genres, I guess) called Dragon Lore which I played almost all the way to the end until I got smacked down by some horrible bug which caused the game to crash at this one point no matter what I did. I still recommend the game to anyone, dated though it is, it had a fantastic storyline. But man that was frustrating. gonk
Black & White. I know plenty of people love it, but I'm a big fan of Peter Molyneux and I really expected him to do better. It was ridiculously overhyped, considering how short it was and how little replay value there was. It was also missing a bunch of features that were supposed to be in there - they were only little things, but would have added some nice character to the game. It's the only game I've ever traded in, because I know I never, ever want to touch it again. talk2hand
The general decline in popularity of traditional adventure games, and especially Lucasarts' ridiculous cancellation of their planned Sam and Max sequel (sure, it was picked up by Telltale Games, but as far as I know, they're releasing it episodically via a subscription gaming site which is US-only... kinda screws me, doesn't it? Piracy's always an option, but I'd really like to support the company in this case) and their dedication to creating mediocre Indiana Jones games - the trailer for their latest makes frequent reference to Fate of Atlantis, because I guess they're hoping people will remember how awesome that was and buy their new bland beat-em-up. Also sucky is Vivendi closing Sierra's Bellevue studio, where so many of the games I loved as a kid were made. sad
I think my latest gaming disappointment is totally misplacing my WarioWare: Touched! cartridge, but I guess that doesn't really count. I'm hoping it's just hiding somewhere on my desk, I was getting close to passing the requirements for all the games in Album Mode. xp

Phantasy Star Online Episode 3. It's a freaking card game! scream After Episodes 1 and 2 were totally awesome, I figured that 3 would be just as good. But not only was it boring, it wasn't even the same genre. Who in their right mind makes the sequel of a game into a completely different genre and doesn't call it something like "Phantasy Star Online Card" so people know it's different?
