Chopi stretched as he stood. The sun was beginning to beat down on the pair and she knew it. The female quickly sprung to her thin and agile legs.
"Of course. Somewhere shady and out of the way." Red eyes scanned the savannah for her own sleeping spot. The large rock would give them enough shade from the brambles and whatnot around it. It would be perfect for them. Finally she spotted it over tall grasses and pointed with a golden paw. "There. That is my favorite rest spot. It has plenty of shade and whatnot plus no one realizes that it's large underneath."
She nudged the juvenile towards it as she herself began to trot for it.

"What do you mean large? You mean like... cave large? Or den large?" Korou asked her brightly, wagging his tail as he trotted beside her on his three good legs, curling his lame leg to his chest as if it was never there to begin with.
His bi-colored eyes swung out over to the rock and he smiled when he noticed how secluded it was. It was the perfect place to keep one safe from lions and any prying eyes that they didn't want to see them. In other words, safe as hell.
Korou liked safe as hell places.

Chopi smiled down at the cub hopping beside her. She wanted to do something for him but there wasn;t much she could do. He was much too large for her mouth and it he rode on her back then that would be problematic so she just settled for walking next to him.
"It's probably just large enough for you and me to have a lot of space..." her mind flipped to the image of cubs but she quickly shook it out her mind.
"...but not too much space..."
When her paws finally parted brambles and grasses she nudged the cub between them. "There...it's justa few more lengths and then you'll be in the shade."

Korou plodded along happily on his three legs, picking up speed after she nudged him a little so that he could get through all of the foliage. His tail swished it out of the way and his eyes closed so that they took no more damage than they already had. That was the last thing he needed.
But at the space comment for some reason he saw a flash of a bunch of cubs running around his feet when he was suddenly much taller. He almost froze, but rather than worry her he shook his head sharply to get the thought from it.
He hadn't known where it had come from anyway.
Breaking through the remaining brambles he stared at the dappled spot happily, purring from the seclusion as he flopped down on the ground and rolled contently.

The large cheetah easily made her way through the grasses after her young companion. Her tail ficked in amusement as Korou rolled.
"See. It's much cooler here. Even the dirt is cooler."
Chopi flopped down herself and fell happily to her side, her long legs laying motionless before her. Her head twisted back to watch the little orange spotted cheetah. "Don't go too far now Korou. I'm not sure I can go after you in this heat."
She gave a soft lick to his cheek before settling back down.

Grinning happily, Korou wagged his tail and licked all over Chopi's cheek before bounding off hyperly in the direction of... well he didn't exactly know where it was but he knew it wouldn't be too far away.
It was nice and cool where he was right now, and no matter where he went he wasn't as hot as he'd been out there.
"This place is great!" He chirpped happily to Chopi after a few long moments. His tail started to wag harder and he looked around. "If there were a stream we'd hardly have to leave at all!" He cast a toothy grin up at the orange cheetah happily.

Chopi hummed contently and watched Korou explore their surroundings. She was so used to the brambles and grasses but her darling Korou wasn't. Her tail swatted against the ground in reflex as she yawned.
This was exactly how she wanted things to be.
"I'm glad you like it Korou. I should have brought you here sooner." She reluctantly rose to her feet, stretched and followed him. "I think we don't need a tream. Sometimes the sun is a good thing silly." She lifted her paw and gently ruffld his scruff.

"Awwww! But streams can be nice too. You're right though, this place is really great even if it doesn't have one."
The young juvenile purred happily as she ruffled the fur on his scruff and he wagged his tail brightly as he reached up and pulled down some leaves to make a little bed with. His white spotted paws riffled them around for a few moments before he fluffled them all into place and made a huge bed out of them.
"Look!" He beamed up at Chopi proudly.

Chopi laughed. "A stream would only disrupt us. A waterhole is just a leagues away and it's not too harsh a walk." She nudged the small boy and let him be as he pulled and worked with the leaves.
She watched as the small bed began to unfold before her. A happiness washed over her at the look on his face. He seemed so pleased with himself and his work.
"Well isn't that a work of art." She chuckled and pulled him against her in a makeshift embrace. "I'm proud of you Korou."

Korou beamed again and wagged his tail all the harder when she hugged him. His eyes closed happily and he leaned into her embrace warmly, purring like he never had before, curling his tail around hers.
For some reason this struck him as a little strange and he blushed heavily, happy that his fur was so dark that it was hidden.
"Well... we gotta sleep on something right?" Though the ground was just as good to him, but he figured she'd want something else. Not that it mattered.
Okay... now he was flustered in his own head. That was bad right?

Chopi smiled and nuzzled the top of his head, pulling him deeper into the embrace. Her tail played against his as she continued to groom him.
"You've grown so handsome Korou." She was a bit taken aback by her own words.
It was true considering that she had always admired the cubs in tricate coat but that just seemed a bit odd to say something like that. Her ears went back.
"Yes. I suppose we should sleep on something but why don't you take it tonight Korou."

"I wont take it because I made it for you." Korou said with a bright smile, licking the end of her nose. "besides, I'm still small, we can share."
Wagging his tail brightly he poked her with the tips of his white spotted paws in an attempt to get her to move over towards the bed and lay down. She seemed as tired if not more so than he was, and Korou was pretty tired from the heat.
"If I've grown really handsom then you must be getting prettier." Korou chirpped happily, not entirely knowing that the compliment might hold more weight than he'd suspected.

Chopi rolled her eyes and nipped at his ear.
"But you're smaller than me. You need your rest." She nudged the small cub into the bed. The cheetah didn't think he would stay in it for long but it was an attempt. Her tail wagged happily beside her as she flopped onto her stomach. The shade was nice and for the first time in awhile she wasn't panting or feeling sore. A yawn split her muzzle before she turned back to her young charge.
"Just get some rest Korou. I'm fine right here."
The golden figure slowly curled herself around the small bed he had made. Her tail flicking in contentment.

"Smaller in size, but not in stamina." Korou chirpped back at her, pawing at her side so that he could roll her onto the leaves. He didn't exactly get very far, but it was an attempt at the very least.
After half-heartedly attempting to get her onto the leaves he gave up with a sigh and curled into Chopi's belly fur tiredly. It was true, on some level he was exhausted, he couldn't get the energy up to argue with her right now, if she wanted to sleep on the ground then let her. Korou would sleep as close to her as he could.

Chopi yawned again at the feel of his paws. She was planning to flop on the leaves but not until he got comfortable.
When he finally laid against her she pulled him closer and began to happily groom him again. The cheetah smiled down at her charge. "Korou, just get some sleep. I know you're tired." Her voice was soft and calm as she dragged her tongue along his ruff.
"I'll still be here in the morning even if I'm not sleeping on the leaves."
