Is it just me, or anyone born after the year 1991 has the most difficult time not creating spam or repeats? As well, their posts usually consists of " NE 1 LIKE HALO? or WUT IS UR FAVORIT GAME?" Maybe not so many caps, but most likely to use L33T speak type wording.
No, it's not just you. Those born from 1991 on
generally (I *implore* you to note that I included this word) are the same people who a) lack grammatical ability; b) use obscene amounts of netspeak; c) post about all the 'hot new games'. In many cases I've observed, they also don't seem to have much respect for the 16-bit and 8-bit eras of gaming, either because they just don't know enough about them (forgivable) or because they simply don't give a damn (kinda pushing it from my viewpoint). I think one possible explanation for this is that the things people created in the earlier days of the internet as shortcuts and alternatives to proper grammar have become less an alternative and more a primary form of communication for this younger generation. You could also blame the schools, but I think there are other more important issues behind this problem than the education system.

As well, another interesting thing I noticed is that newbies around that age also tend to have avatars that have wider eyes, and more wild hair styles, as well are almost always not wearing much (naturally). Then the older, and more seasoned gaians usually have narrower eyes and more controlled hair (just a random observation)
I don't think you have much here. There might be certain stylistic trends that one generation or clique will acknowledge over another (all-black clothes, preppy clothes, anime-themed clothes, etc.) but when it comes right down to it everybody makes their decisions based on style. Style is based on personal preference and, perhaps even more often than the former, the opinion of the public majority. Age might be related to these factors, but I see it as a coincidental relationship and not one with any real significance.

Anyways, this was just bothering me. I'm not sure what kids these days are being taught, as far as internet etiquette goes, I can only assume that they haven't been taught much in that department... Or maybe have just been taught from the wrong source in the first place.
I live in a small, rural town and have only gone to one school of what I would consider a normal size, and even that was only for one year. As such, I know very little about how your average-size elementary/high school operates. The one year I did spend at a normal-size school was my Freshman year of High School. There, things like Keyboarding were electives, not requirements, and though there were a number of required English classes, it did little for the way people spoke. I would attribute it mostly to the fact that pop culture is a stronger dictator of the way people act/speak/etc. than the education system is. Sure, the education system I went through was no shining example of everything I felt we should know (at least the required education system; can't speak for college yet), but what's the bigger problem, people spelling things wrong because they don't know any better, or people using netspeak even though they theoretically know how it should be said?
Another point to be made...in what I've seen, kids deplore educational material of any kind. As a result, really have no fervor or desire for retaining the already bare-bones skills they're being taught. If kids somehow changed their attitude about school, I can practically guarantee you that this particular problem would fade from the majority and become the unique trait of a small, holdout minority. As things are now, the 'small, holdout minority' are the kids who actually give a damn. Perhaps they even understand that, by having a fervor for education and *gasp* going so far as to supplement their knowledge
on their own time, they will better themselves as people and give themselves a far better chance of becoming a respectable, civilized human being instead of another slobbering member of the incessant and idiotic horde so infuriatingly called the 'Voice of the Public'...but, that's just what I think.
sweatdrop (P.S.: To all you members of the 'small, holdout minority' as described: I
heart you.)

Maybe because I'm older I just don't understand, or might be irritated more easily by things like that. I just don't understand why it is so hard to have a conversation online in a clear way, even at that age.
I feel for you. Every time I see badly mis-spelled words, improper grammar usage, or usage of netspeak in more than 3 incidences in a single post, I essentially take my opinion of that person, from a starting value of 100, and remove 10 points; further 'offenses' make it drop accordingly. Maybe that's being too harsh, particularly for someone who is supposed to be kind and forgiving to all VGD Gaians (though I assure you that when it comes to helping someone I avoid letting that show, even if their grammar is absolutely *atrocious*), but the English language was created to be utilized, not butchered.
Whoa, long post. Sorry for taking up so much of your screen and your time, folks, but when I write about things I'm fervent about (or even just things in general sometimes) I end up writing long posts. Apologies for any inconvenience
sweatdrop One more thing...Kattsunade, I still
heart you, even if you do have big eyes. Coincidentally, I also barely know you...does that unnerve you?
