Well I don't think this pope is going to last as long as the last (seeing how he's so old) so if he is a threat to the jews it won't be for too long...

Meh, I dont think he will get far if he is bad for the religion. Most everyone knows Pope John Paul was teh l33t pope.

Now I'm starting to get really hesitant from all the things I have been hearing. I'm still waiting to make a judgement on his character, but if he really was such a good religious figure with enough character to be elected pope, then why didn't he stand up against the Nazis? I know it was impossible, and he would have almost assuredly gotten killed, but would anybody here really kill others willingly and stand by and watch others suffer rather then getting killed themselves? Even if by some sort of freak circumstance he didn't kill anybody in the war, then why would he just let millions of people suffer and die rather then do whatever he could to help? Lots of other people helped sneak Jews out of Germany at risk of their own lives, so why not the pope? I know I sure wouldn't... Like I said, I have absolutely nothing against Catholics and I'm still not sure on this new pope, but I have to say, things don't look good.

No matter his actual beliefs, having a former HJ as the Pope bothers me. Not that it really affects us that much, I mean, we don't have to listen to what he says. We're Jewish, remember?
Still, it's weird how everyone says he was elected to be a 'transistional' pope because he'll die quickly. What if he doesn't die quickly? Is someone going to whack him off?
PS- HJ=Hitler Youth, the German abbreviation. Watch the movie 'Swing Kids', we saw it in History class and it talked a lot about the HJ

I know this sounds really weird and strange, but why do they elect really really old people to be the pope when they're just going to die soon? Why not elect some 30-40 year old who can be pope for a while? I guess maybe because if there's a bad one, he won't be in office very long, but it still seems strange to me. (no offense meant to anybody) sweatdrop
