Rayce raised an eyebrow at the officer. "What could you possibly offer me to join you? Other than my survival. It doesn't really matter to me."

Wild Cards Rayce raised an eyebrow at the officer. "What could you possibly offer me to join you? Other than my survival. It doesn't really matter to me."He nodded again. "A job. Benefits. Secure future. Steady pay. Otherwise, you'll never leave Wayland until I can prove you trustworthy. Might as well be doing something."

Rayce sighed and ran his fingers through his hair. "Alright you have my attention. I can fight and I'm excellent at mechanics. Besides, I have a thing against the Jedi. You've got a man, Captain...?"

You've got a man, Captain...?"He said nothing about the Jedi. "Very well. I'll give you a commision as a sargeant, and assign you to the 22nd Technician group. You'll find them outside the center repairing AT-STs. Dismised."~ As Rayce left, Elladan received the report from his scouts exploring the mountain. No native or sentient life in hundreds of miles, and absolute isolation. The captain charted a new tactical naming it Mount Chiss, and immediately deployed his crews to begin work ASAP. {Mount Chiss construction/renovations to begin at 7:00 PM Central}

Rayce sighed as he headed outside to the group he had been assigned to. It surprised him that they had offered him sergeant immediately instead of waiting to see what he could do. He wanted these secrets kept, badly. Still, it was interesting that he was getting a significant boost in pay. That he could live with.
Rayce quickly explained everything to the officer in charge, who told Rayce where to bunk and where to get uniforms. Rayce took care of all of this in an hour. He walked back out, feeling rather uncomfortable in the black uniform of the Imperial Army. He started work on one of the AT-ST's, noticing several flaws in the design of the vehicle. This could be very enjoyable....

Meanwhile, Elladan was writing his datacard report to be delivered to Luke. No major variations, established base, immediate construction, things couldn't be better. He was requesting more supplies and workers.

He was requesting more supplies and workers. With his datacard sent to Luke, Elladan overseed construction of the new base. In the first thirty minutes, they had portable generators and lights set up. Fusion cutters in hand, the technicians set to work on cutting into the mountain's iron and stone foundations, saving what they could for future renovations there.

Rayce sighed and wiped the sweat out of his eyes as he gazed at the panel of the AT-ST. He wondered why the Empire was still using these obselete machines. He knew of powerful new cannons able to rip through vehicles like they were nothing. Perhaps....
Rayce grabbed a datapad and started drawing. His hand flew across the paper as he transferred his idea to paper. Four stunted legs, the head of an AT-ST, but elongated. Between the two turrets, which were spread further apart, was an anti-vehicle cannon. On top a rotating turret that could serve as an anti-aircraft cannon. Room for about fifteen passengers, thicker armor than an AT-ST, but smaller than an AT-AT.
Rayce finally put down the pad and gazed at his creation. He snapped back to the present when the commanding officer yelled at him to get back to work. Rayce pocketed the datapad and got back to fusing the controls to the intricate series of wires.

At one hour, the fusion cutters were ten yards into the mountain and increasing momentum. By night, when the lights were needed outside, the tunnelers breeched into the mountain, and found a vast cavern. Knowing they'd need to hollow it out more, Elladan went and sought out Rayce. "Sargeant?"

Rayce turned and saluted. "Sir. Is there something you needed?" He cringed as the datapad fell out of his pocket and clattered to the ground.

Actually, this gives me an idea. Mind riding with me to the mountain?" He motioned to the AT-AT nearby that was bringing supplies.
