There are LOTS of 'veils'. The most obvious however lets some really ICKY things out if you breach it. So, please don't.
The energy in there is this oily, clingy, mutagenic stuff, and the entities are dangerously 'alien' and unpredictable.
There are people who just make it their life's work to go around patching up holes in the Veil.

Please keep in mind that this isn't a one-sided issue, and there are entire groups working to keep the veils intact.

Where might these groups be? It would interest me greatly to research them.

Adding in my own 0.0100477267 pounds sterling here, but I think it what the Marauder Underground are somewhat linked to this discussion. Except, instead of the "Veil" they use "Consensu[s/al] Reality". Given that they're trying to poke the Universe and trying to make chaos come out, I think the results of their experiments and the results of this whole Veil thing sound remarkably similar.

I need to post this as fast as I can before I forget so please excuse typos.

I agree with the whole 'worlds pushing' thing, but think about it... If we were able to keep the two worlds pushing with the same force (equilibrium), I don't know how to properly explain this, but the pressure would force the veil to move instead of pop and destroy a world.

I also have a reoccurring dream:
I start out on my roof, I look up and skyrocket straight up. Right into space. I keep going and going, faster to even track. Faster than light speed for sure, but I can still see what is happening all around me. I come to a blank area of space, there is nothing for hours. All of a sudden I stop and stare straight into the nothingness. I turn around and see all of the celestial bodies behind me, stars, planets, galaxies, solar systems, everything. I turn back around and look back into the nothingness. I look left and then right and I realize that I am looking through the hole in the Veil. I soar through and go the exact distance it was between the Earth and the Veil. I see a planet consumed in war. I assume I'm back staring at Earth, but as I get closer, the fighting figures take shape. They're dragons, were-animals, and all the animals/humanoids that were thought fictional on Earth. They are not separated by species. There seems to be two sides, one heavily armed, the other in tattered cloth and wielding poor, crude weapons. They seem to be an empire, it's followers, and a rebellion. I look to the left and see a large cave. I look to the right and I see a type of castle. I fly towards the castle and confirm the well armed soldiers are from the castle. I fly inside through a window and round too many corners to remember, too many stairs to count. I eventually come to a large door, large enough to fit a two story house through. I fly right through it and come into a big room. In the middle stands a large machine, obviously some type of gun, but with no obvious opening to the barrel. I know for a fact, I don't know how, but I know this is designed to completely blow open the veil. There are normal humans building the machine, with dragons participating by using some primitive looking form of soldering. I soar straight up again, and drift through the ceiling to see another normal human, this one sitting on a throne, not with werewolves or anything else, but dragon bodyguards. The human stares straight at me, mutters something in another language, and the bodyguards stare straight at me. They stand up, take deep breaths, and I wake up.

The year of the great seventh number accomplished

My Interpretation:
The year 2007 over,
The armies of the other plane will come during war
Close to the year 2000
Necromancers will bring the dead to life to aid in the great third war

Anyone read the Divide series? They show something kind of like what Jou said. Equal force from the top and bottom will force something to the side.

All I'm saying is that I think the other side of the Veil is a parallel universe.
The badass machine appears to be some type of laser/gun/cannon thing, pointed straight at the Earth, which is weird, because that's supposed to be where the rift is...

Latin mixed with Deutsch and Gaelic if I'm not mistaken, only...very bastardized versions of the words.
