Vladimir_Lenin Koiyuki Yet another reason people would be hesitant to join the Army. That and for some strange reason being shot to death in the prime of your life isn't quite that appealing either. Of course, but I would rather not state the obvious. rofl

Personally, I have witnessed the decay of someones entirety all for sex. It isn't pretty. He's ******** over every one, even me, because he has built up such an sexual ego and dependence. And at the same time, I have witnessed the complete opposite, that of someone who has deprived them self of sex, not intentionally, but merely because of no desire to indulge with beings lower than they. "Absolute power corrupts, absolutely." And the ultimate power is sexual. It is the primal basis of our existance and what drives all life. It defiantely can be chanelled into a strong power be it good or bad.

Just drawing a bit from history, the most successful warlord in history (Genghis Khan) was also the most successful ******** in history. Admitadly, that was in part because he killed off millions of other men in the area... but I think the point still stands. Men who are successful, whether in battle or commerce or whatever, also tend to be successful in sex.
Now, on the other hand, there is some data to suggest that when a culture's male-to-female ratio gets out of whack (as in India and China right now,) the amount of overall aggression and violence in the society goes up. This makes sense if one considers that males are responsible for the majority of violence in the first place--more males = mroe violence. However, one might also speculate that in more violent societies, women are more likely to die, an dthus violent societies might create conditions in which there were fewer women, rather than the toher way around--or the two conditions could mutually reinforce each other.
Either way, it will be interesting to watch India and China over the next 50 or so years...

Oni-Angel Vladimir_Lenin Koiyuki Well, a typical soldier is sent to boot camp, with no sex(with a female, anyways) for weeks on end. Naturally, they'll have a ton of unused sexual energy, ad thusly, they fight more intensely, than before. I would think anyone would be on edge, after not getting any for weeks on end. Then wouldn't it be something closer to sexual frustration, having pent-up tempations and no time to ease them? Either way, I believe alot of violence does have a sexual rooting somehow. This is why women in the millitary are raped quite frequently in bootcamp. My friend (who is a guy) talked about how lots of "millitary babes" were being sexually used and abused by multiple guys because many people saw them as a c**t with legs. It's freaky, but when you mix ultra aggression with ultra humiliation (from drill seargents), the first thing a man does is take it out on someone he sees as lesser (either a smaller male or a woman). You know, I know a lot of guys who can't get laid, and somehow they mysteriously don't channel all of their pent up sexual urges into raping people. The idea that not having sex somehow prompts them to rape shows a serious misunderstanding of the nature of rape.

Like the fabled "Trojan War", was it fueled by love or lust? Something kind of like the strong can resist and everyone else can't, therefor those that can are emulated (later warred on) and those that cannot are considered human and normal. But then again I think I'm wrong. Not what caused it, what fueled it, and what continues to fuel wars like that. Then what sparked it? It changes from war, to war. In the case of thr Trojan war, it coud have been caused by Miss Helen of Troy. The Greeks themselves as I recall were rather wary of that theory. Folks don't spend 10 years at war over a pretty face. Just doesn't happen. They do spend years at war over wealth, honor, and glory... Are you familiar with the true story of the Trojan War? Not the one in the Illiad, but the one in the archeological record? The Trojan War was actually fought in Egypt. It was a big war, and Greece lost, badly. They spent up their treasuries and entered a dark age, during which tales of victory and defeat became the staples of many poets. Troy was a dinky hill-fort in Turkey which the Greeks had raided on their way to Egypt... but it had been a successful raid, and people like talking about their successes much more than their failures. And so the story of Troy became legend, while the story of Egypt faded into the background, except for a few myths here and there, like the one that Helen actually spent the entire war in Egypt... At least, that is the story as it was told to me. But even in the legends about Troy, it was as much about honor and glory as about sex...

people war because they want a sense of pride look at the background of most of the greatest war minds they had a really bad childhood i don't think pent up sexual energy was the cause i mean look at alexander the great he got laid all the time and he fought wars. i think i would have to say sex has nothing to do with it

Notice that I did not say that "horniness" leads to rape, but that "hyper aggression and ultra humiliation" is more likely a factor in making someone prone to turning to someone seen as "weaker" to humiliate and aggress over through rape. And from the stuff I've heard some of the Vietnam Vets that my dad hangs out with tell, being stuck around a ton of men all the time in a high stress, high danger situation lead to mass rapings of children and women in the various villiages that the soldiers came accross. It was less about horniness and more about fear, anger, hatred, and prejudice. In bonobos, this phenomenon was also observed when a group of bonobos found a tree covered in fruit and the tension and stress of the amount of food and who was going to get it got so great that the whole troop eventually started having a massive orgy, and afterwards, everyone was able to eat peacefully.

It seems to me that sexual energy is an incarnately neutral force - a balance, perhaps. Sexual energy is incarnate to both sexes, and the ideas it runs off of are raw human devotion at it's strongest. This is why Priests take a vow of celibacy: They dedicate this energy to God, and to their perception of what is good. (Of course, there's no perfect set of good or evil ideals, but that's another topic.)
The question then becomes, is it the good people who suppress their sexual energy into applicable forms more, or the bad ones? The greedy bastards who only get money, or the kindly philanthropist or social worker? The environmentalist, or the pollution-causing rich freak? It's not whether Sexual Energy is good or bad - it is neither - but who's using it for sex and who's diverting/suppressing it into other causes more.
