Caroline laughs. "Aye, it does. My wee Rojiza is quite fond of shiny objects. She has quite the little collection of trinkets an' baubles, aye?" She nods. "Mayhap they'll be useful if we come to meet the fae."

Lorelei sat upon Ivy-Twined's leadseat, Caelebre's reins resting loosely on her lap. She had her head tilted back, watching through half-closed eyes the sunlit leaves. She missed the cool breeze - and even more, the lingering enchantment of Leax. There was something she couldn't quite place about the man, still - something had faded with distance. And that something... it was different, very slightly, from what she had felt - no, still felt - for Shamira. Was... was what she felt for Leax... love? Or was it something different, something she had no name for?
Whatever it was, the thoughts engulfed and swallowed her. Vanna sat beside her, playing idly with her angel doll as she kept an eye on her mother. Every once in a while, the fey-girl reached over at patted her mother's arm in comfort. She, too, missed the dark gypsy man, and felt the same, odd dispersion of... that something. But her youthful resiliance kept her afloat, and she tried, desperately at times, to keep Lorelei grounded through touch.
On one such attempt, Vanna held out her doll and gave her mother a kiss through it. Lorelei started from her thoughts, looking down at Vanna with an awkward smile. "Mm? Your doll likes me, does she?"
Vanna nodded, smiling. "Mama!"
Lorelei blinked. That was... new. Then her smile became fuller, and she laughed. "Yes, that's right!" she exclaimed, overjoyed, Leax temporarily forgotten. "Yes!"
"Mama~" Vanna hummed, smiling and hugging Lorelei. The newfound fun and joy of talking washed away the unease they both felt. Now was a time for journeying to the future, not for looking back to the past. And they had once more entered the forest of their wagon. Ivy-Twined had come home, for a while.

Silver walked effortlessly alongside her wagon, enjoying the cool forest air and the shifting shadows that made the forest feel alive. After their unusually long stay in the Sheulan those several months ago, Silver had decided forests were where she was most at home. Khevashi was in a very good mood as well. For the most part he was perched on the wagon roof, keeping watch over his family, but now and again he would fly off and hide in the trees, waiting for his sister to spot him. The first time he disappeared, Silver had been worried. She couldn't see him and he had been gone for quite some time. Finally, Aisrhan, who was quite enjoying having the driver's seat of the wagon all to herself, exclaimed, "I see you, 'Vashi!" and pointed excitedly. Silver watched with amazement as he seemed to materialize out of thin air, cawing and swooping out of a tall tree playfully. So then it was a game. Khevashi would hide and Aisrhan would look for him. Silver had no idea how Aisrhan could see him. Maybe she could sense her brother through the meij? No matter how the girl did it, Silver never once caught the crow before Aisrhan yelled "I see you!" and dissolved into giggles. Silver smiled and shook her head, letting them play and becoming distracted by her own thoughts. It had been such a strange dream... but Mherudyn's fortunes wer usually just that: a strange dream that needed to be deciphered. Falling further and further into the memory of the dream, Silver felt the heavy weight of guilt upon her shoulders once again. She had been glad it wasn't Aisrhan this time and then so angry at herself... guilty, feeling so guilty that she could even think such thoughts. The forest was no longer comforting, but a prison. She felt claustrophobic, as though the trees themselves had resolved to punish her for being glad it was someone else's child. A caw. Giggles. Khevashi. Aisrhan. Silver came to her senses as Khevashi swooped back toward them again, landing once more on the wagon roof. Silver smiled weakly and kept walking. She tried to shove all thoughts of Mherudyn's twisted prediction from her mind as she observed her family rolling along ahead of and behind her, spotting a Fortunette child or animal here and there. Once again she found herself enjoying the forest. She couldn't help it. It was so beautiful. Surely not all predictions came true?

Heather held the reins as Amkia sat next to her, Kala trotting next to the caravan. Heather had already decided to make sure they stay well apart, after all, she didn't want a fight.
The mermaid pearls were in her pocket she had decided she would use them to split up the cat and the angel if need be but more then anything she just wished for them to stay apart.
"So this is the forest then..." She looked around her eyes darting from tree to tree. She looked down to where Kala had been walking but the cat had already wandered off. "Damn girl!!" She sighed and kissed Amkia's forehead, "At least you will never leave!" She chuckled quietly following Lors wagon.

At last, after two days of uneventful travelling, winnowing their caravan through the trees with a slow but deft ease, Valelldia finally felt her insecurities begin to fade, somewhat, and she called for the wagontrain to moor itself at the end of the travelling day.
As the gypsies wandered about, settling their load animals in for the night, and pulling the wagons in a haphazard circle, off-kilter for the sake of the intrusion of trees and brambles and such, Valelldia sat upon her leadseat, away from the others who manuevered in the midst of the great circle. She watched them silently- protectively- her elbows and knees atop one another. They seemed safe, and they were cooking something heavenly-smelling in the cooking pot. It nearly drew the watcher into center of the circle. ...And it was not Valelldia.
Outside the view of any of the gypsies, a tree leaned forward- and seemed... of all things, to inhale- its leaves shuddering pleasurably and its bark expanding a mite. Then, it settled back into its original place, but tipped its leafy head to one side to watch the gypsies better. It would not move again- but seemed content, instead, to watch the newcomers- and to admire, as it always did, those shining white stones that sat on the ground near Weathered Melody.

As Lorelei and Vanna settled down by Ivy-Twined's side, Vanna tugged at her mother's dress. "Moo-sic?" she chirped, blinking all three golden eyes at her mother. Lorelei had been teaching her words as best she could - her knowledge of language was coming in handy, and the girl knew about five already, in the few short days since she'd been learning. Music, mama, dolly, home, and bird, and maybe one or two others.
Lorelei smiled, patting her on the head. "You want me to get my harp, darling?"
Vanna nodded. "Mm!"
"Sit here, then - I'll be right back." Lorelei disappeared into Ivy-Twined, retrieving her harp and another blanket to spread on the ground. She hoped others would join her - the long days of traveling left little time for relaxation with others, and she thought her wagon sisters (and brothers!) would enjoy the music.
Returning outside, she spread out the second blanket and sat down, tuning her harp. When she was sure, she raised her head, and called out (something she was only slightly getting used to), "If any would like to relax...."
Vanna cut in, hopping up and shouting as loud as she could (which wasn't that loud):
"MOO-SIC!"

The music drew others to the wagon train. ...And not gypsies. Or trees. The small pink and green creatures were flat, small forms of color up in the highest of the trees. Only when they flitted between them did their bodies flash in a bright pinprick of dazzling light- however, they were high enough up in the tall trees that it would be unlikely that any below would regard the sight. A lanky green female- lanky in that she was nearly an eighth of an inch taller than her sisters and brothers- came to the foreground, flitting out from behind the others and away from the protection of the trees. She was the uncontested leader of their little group, and so, when she pointed downward at the assembled gypsies, pointing off forms and assigning them to the fae behind her, they obeyed, smiling and laughing their trilling laugh. They readied- but only three came forward. The others held back, waiting for their turn. Down below, with the gypsies headed towards the music, it is unknown how many would have realized that, without even a flash of light... a very few of them... had disappeared. ------- Kalpana was confused, finding herself at the base of a great tree. A single birdcall was in the distance- but otherwise, only silence. Where was the wagontrain? Where was anyone? ------- Less at ease... would be Anezka, who did not possess the sole confusion of an animal outside of its home- she would know that something was wrong. She found herself- one blink she had been with the others, and now, for all she knew, miles away, in a moss-floored section of the forest, thin trees with lightly colored bark upon them. ------- And the other two that found themselves gone- were gone together. Miles away, deep into the forest, and near a slight stream... brother and sister... stared at each other. The leopard and the canary's mother... was nowhere to be seen.

Menelie Caroline laughs. "Aye, it does. My wee Rojiza is quite fond of shiny objects. She has quite the little collection of trinkets an' baubles, aye?" She nods. "Mayhap they'll be useful if we come to meet the fae." Marissa grinned. "That's right! She's a collector too, isn't she?" She laughed in her son's direction, who reproachfully stacked the smashed coins as if to say "it is NOT a silly hobby."
...Days later, as the carvan made a stop, Marissa joined the circle of music. Kale had his treasures stuffed into his pockets so that they bulged slightly. The gypsy and her son were too busy singing and laughing to realize that anything was amiss.

Days later, when the caravan circles itself, Caroline busies herself with dancing, as well as the music. She doesn't get herself too costumed up--after all, it isn't a performance, it's family. She does circle around the fire, twirling and adding her own ululating voice to the song. She sees too many things at once to notice a disappearance.
Rojiza, whose feelings are a mix of ease in the forest and discomfort at its pressing presence, had taken sort of a 'babysitter' stance. She keeps watch over the wee ones, mainly the infants. She feels that the animals in the caravan may know instinctually how to protect themselves, and the children like herself...she had no place to watch over. She does, however, notice that Anezka, her friend, had made herself absent. Frowning, she wanders 'round, weaving through wagons, looking for her.

((OMG, I"m so behind!! I'm going to do a little summary of the stealing, the wagon in the forest, etc...I hope everyone is okay with that. 3nodding Thanks again Em for use of the whistle. I'll be sure to give it back if I can, or try to replace it for you at some point if I can't get it back.))
Irina had heeded the meji...She had heard the fortune that Rydell had spat out, unaware of the potential danger. She had to find something to appease the fae, just in case there was some trouble. It was more a lack of time than anything, and it caused her to do something that she normally would not have done. They were in the forest sooner than she expected, and she was walking alongside the caravan, checking out any wagons that may have been unattended. She needed a magical item, and fast!
Then, she saw it. The red familiar whistle that had brought the fox-child an owl. Certainly it was magical. It sat alone, on the leadseat of Emelyn's wagon. Looking all directions for anyone who may be around, Irina grabbed up the whistle instinctively and rushed back to the safety of her own wagon. If she needed something to bargain with the fae, at least she had something now.
Kal alternated walking alongside the carvan and riding in the leadseat of Ravenwood with her mother, who was feeling particularly bad about her theft. The little badger didn't seem to notice that her mother had a new magical item on her, and she waddled along happily, sniffing the air and enjoying the shadows that played upon the forest floor.
The pair passed a couple of days this way, just travelling along easily. It was almost strange to feel such serenity in woods like these. When the carvan stopped to rest at the end of the second day, both Kal and Irina were ready for a break.
The pair joined the circle of music, and Irina sat and listened, enjoying the enthusiasm of the others. It was a little late when Irina noticed that Kal was gone.
Kal looked around the forest. Suddenly, she had been parted from her mother and she couldn't smell her scent in the air. Where was she?
The little badger was standing in front of a large tree, not able to figure out how she'd gotten there. Instinctively, she began to dig a burrow, her long claws scraping up the dirt from the forest floor and her back legs pushing the loose earth out away from her hole. If anything, she could feel more at home in the hole than exposed in this strange forest.

Marissa clapped as Caroline danced. She was enjoying herself greatly, and remembered fondly when some of the other children had danced around a fire such as this. She turned to where Anzeka had been sitting.
"Ani, why don't you join--" her voice fell flat when she realized Anzeka was not where she had been. She leaned over and tapped Leshya'e on the shoulder. "Lesh?" she asked, puzzled, "Where's Ani?"

Silver gratefully moored her wagon in their lop-sided circle and quickly went about the usual procedures for getting everything situated, feeding the horses and making sure they were comfortable as well. Later on, when Lorelei pulled out her harp and offered her music to her family, Silver, among others, joined in with her flute, accompanying the harp perfectly. The music was beautiful, uplifting and cheerful. Those who did not play instruments danced and sang along.
Khevashi had remained perched on the wagon roof as requested by his mother. "'Vashi... do me a favor, sweety?" The bird had turned his head sideways as if to say "Yeah? I'm listening." as he always did. She had asked him to keep watch over the caravan, keep an eye out for anything suspicious. Though she loved the trees, Silver knew forests could be dangerous, especially at night, and she had heard some... interesting stories about this one. Khevashi was glad to accomodate his mother's wishes. Becoming invisible was what he did best. He was so still, so quiet, that none would know he was there until he made a sound. One with the shadows, he watched the festivities with interest, but kept his sharp eyes out for any strange activity. It just so happened, however, that Khevashi had been watching his mum play her flute for just a moment - he loved to see her happy and not bothered with dreams and visions - when several of their party vanished. Even Khevashi had not seen the fae nor their mischief.
Aisrhan had never really been one for the excitement of their gypsy festivals. Sure, she enjoyed the music, but the swirls of colors and fast movements made her dizzy and uncomfortable, so she avoided them to an extent. Tonight Aisrhan had gotten permission from her mother to play around the wagon, only, she knew, because Khevashi had been posted as a guard. She didn't care. From here she could stll hear the music loud and clear, but was sheltered from most of the visual effects. Ais wandered around the other side of the wagon, opposite the campfire and gypsies and settled on the ground to play with her doll. Khevashi watched her closely, but he was only one bird. He didn't see her inch her way closer and closer to the trees. She had seen something... familiar. In her dream she had seen them through the wagon window. "The stones... aren't for you. But take them.... " Aisrhan hadn't told her mother about the dream. She didn't think it had meant anything. Yet, there before her were the stones. "Take them.... " The voice from her dream sounded in her mind so clearly that she wasn't sure if she had actually heard it or not. Aisrhan reached down tentatively and picked up each of the gleaming white stones. Just then, Khevashi noticed where she was and let out a caw, warning her to get back to the wagon. Aisrhan looked around nervously. Where would she put them? She didn't want her mother to know she had them. She knew Silver would make her put them back. Her doll... Without thinking, Aisrhan opened a seam in the back of her poor ragged doll and stuffed the stones in various places. One in an arm, another in a leg, several in the torso, then she pulled the doll's dress over its "wound" to cover it up and turned back to the wagon. Khevashi was glowering at her from the roof. She had taken too long. "G'night, 'Vashi" Ais said absently as she slithered up the steps and went inside. She hid her now heavy doll beneath her pillow and sat in the wagon, listening to the music and wondering what to do with her newfound treasures.

Heather turned her head back to Amkia and suddenly he wasn't there. She screamed, so loudly. Tears immediatly fell from her eyes. "AMKIA!!!!" She wasn't worried about Kala, the cat could look after herself but if they were together? Oh no... "Amkia..." She whispered the last word jumping from her caravan and untieing one of her horses. She had to go find them.
Kala had found the strange event most amusing especially as Amkia was sitting in front of her. Her tail flicked and her green eyes looked around them. Her mother wasn't in sight and nor were any of the other people. She smiled in her own feline way before stretching then shifting the dirt under her claws.
Amkia was terrified if that was the right word to use. He had been happy next to his mother and was now stuck with the sister who wanted to kill him. He might be young but he knew his sister well enough, she could feel his fear and he could feel her hate. This wasn't going to be good.

Silver nearly dropped her flute when Heather screamed. "What on earth is going on?" she asked the nearest person as Heather rode away on her horse. Then the dream came flooding back, an unwelcome memory. "Oh no..." She looked around quickly, trying to see who, besides Amkia, was missing.

Lorelei's hands stilled on her harp, and she set it down, reaching out and grabbing Vanna's hand. She pulled the girl close, enveloping her in a tight embrace. "What...?" Amkia never left Heather's side - and if Heather's scream was any indication, Amkia was... lost.
As she looked around, she noted others oddly not there. She didn't raise the alarm just yet, though, as she didn't know who was supposed to be there. Had Kalpana come with Irina? Had Anezka come with Lesh? She couldn't be sure...
Still, the abrupt end to the music set the tone - something was wrong. Very wrong.
