It is said that Adam gave dominion to Satan when he sinned and Jesus took it back and return the dominion of the Earth to His children. This is why many now can tell thing like the winds and thefish, "In the name of Jesus I take dominion over such and such." I know two people that will take dominion over fish when they are fishing and haven't caught anything all day.

I dont recall where, but in Revelation, it speaks of God letting Satan have full dominion over all of the earth in the end days. Now, everyone says we are in the end days, but they have been saying that for years, but it could still be the end of days. I think that after the Chrstians are raptured up to Heaven, God will allow Satan full control of the earth, and then God will destroy the Earth after the great war. I think the devil has some control over the earth, but he doesnt have full control.

Interesting...
I always thought satan fell to earth when he was kicked out of heaven.

Lithanus Satan can rule the earth but not have full control over it. And in a way this world is pretty much full of chaos, after all we are killing and hurting each other for no reason exept our selfish/sinful natures. But because God is still in control there is still much order at the same time, and once He has it the way He wants it no one will be acting on this selfish/sinful nature. I remember the bible saying something about satan ruleing the earth, and I don't have a bible handy, but I can see the results of his rule regardless. And as for God leting satan do so, it is very much like Job's case, one has to know how bad hell is to be gratefull for God's love. After God is totaly in control (like in Job's case) God let satan do His thing but before that God wouldn't let satan touch Job, such is the power God has over satan even though satan is ruler of this world. Something to think about. Let me know if some of that was unclear.

Mako18 ok, I just want to state my point and I want someone to challenge it with evidence, not just a guess or an opinion
Satan does not rule the world, he is merely and ex-angel that is doing everything possible to tempt people away from God. If he truly ruled the world (which God would not allow except in the case of Job's world) we would be in utter chaos
Anyone disagree? no man i totatly agree.

(Hope you dont mind me using your post for the quote) When it says dominion, or prince, it doesn't mean that Satan rules over Earth. He just is allowed to live here, with us. It's like the when he was in Heaven. He was allowed dominion and in a sense was a prince of the angels. Yet did he rule Heaven? No. Somehow I think Satan would like to think he rules Earth though.

A background verse:

Satan is not the Lord of this world but he is a powerful force in it:
Ephesians 6:12 (New King James Version)
12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age,[a] against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.
The bible says that in the last days... after the rapture (affecting the left behind generation) Satan will rule via the beast. At the end of that time he will bow down to christ and proclaim Him Lord, then he will be locked away

1 Then I saw an angel coming down from heaven, having the key to the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. 2 He laid hold of the dragon, that serpent of old, who is the Devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years; 3 and he cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal on him, so that he should deceive the nations no more till the thousand years were finished. But after these things he must be released for a little while.
I first learned of it in Megiddo (a place in israel prophesized to be the battle grounds of armageddon). We are coming pretty close to the last days, but we will know when or after the rapture occurs. People will be called up in plain sight.
It will most likely be a time of much religious confusion, so unless the church is backwards today (and I do not think it is for people are still being saved) then I suppose the rapture is not coming anytime this year.
please do not argue that death comes like a thief in the night. the rapture will not be death but resurrection and there will be trumpets blowing, trumpets are loud.

Mako18 I agree with you guys there
Except I still don't believe Satan was ever given any control over the Earth as we know it. He was booted out of Heaven and he made his own "dimension" (or hell as we know it)
Hell is where his dominion lies and he can do nothing but tempt us on Earth (he can't control the Earth in any way) Satan abiding in hell is a big big big misconception spread by comics and cartoons. Satan does no t live in Hell nore did he create it. Hell is torment, torture. "and there shall be weeping and nashing of teeth" Satan does not want to be there. He is not immune to the fate of the lost. His day will come and unfortunately he shall be taking many lost souls along with him. (sorry I would give bibllical quotes but I have to go get ready for school)
