The energy which quin tried to channel into Akira did not have the desired affect which Quin was searching for, the magic and energy itself merely passed around Akira, much like a river does a stone. Though Akira's magical barrier did not seem to affect Quin's ability to caste magic that much it still negated all magical affects that related directly to Akira's person. Thus the energy passed by him, and he remained completely unaffected.

Akira's sword contacted with Quin's and in surprize and the shock of the impact his hands let go of the sword, dropping it at Quin's feet. It was at this point that Quin's boot came sailing at Akira's head. However, he was not out of tricks just yet. Both of Akira's feet pushed off of the ground with great force, launching him backwards with a slight incline in his movement. Quin's booted foot sailed at Akira but due to his change in movement came short of its target. His hands blurred to his vest, and there was a small clanking sound to signify something that had happened, exactly what was completely unperceivable at the moment.

Upon flying about three to four feet back Akira's a** it the ground and his body went limp, allowing his momentum to dictate his movement and not to injure his body. He rolled backwards against the ground and upon coming out of the roll and popping up from the ground, due to both of his feet pushing off of the ground when they came into contact with it, this combined with the momentum from the previous backwards leap combined together throwing him further back away from the other man, gaining about five to six more feet off of this second. Akira was still not out of tricks though, once again Akira's hands were a blur of motion, another clanking sound issuing to show that something had happened.

Once again as he hit the ground he went into a backwards roll, but this time his body curled up, when his legs came around to meet the ground he spread them out, stopping the movement and keeping his body flat against the ground, his hands coming up over his head. The three seconds that this action took would be more than enough for what Akira planned, as Quin's attention was no doubt drawn by the sudden change in location. The motion of Akira's hands when he had jumped backwards the first time would become painfully apparent at that point, the first jump being the pins pulled out, as the two grenades which he hand unclipped from his belt and tossed beneath Quin's feet, the second jump him tossing the grenades under Quin's feet, would be a second away from exploding and turning the man into a pile of meat on the tournament floor.

What fun, what fun indeed. It had been so long since he had a decent fight where he wasn't treated as a play thing; but times had changed since then in the world was his to play with.

Though his foot never landed upon his foes jaw his fingers worked well enough. Akira who was travelling in a linear line backwards would strike the ground. But then Quin's fingers had squeezed the trigger of his flintlock before he had landed on his a** and bounced back further.

The lead ball would tear through the air, it was aimed for the midsection of the man so that even if he moved fast enough the shot would only land higher on the body as he fell.

Should the man still have it within him to complete his little demolition show then Quin who felt the anti magic field weaker furthur from the man would strain all of his concentration that his body visibly began to chill and each breath steamed.

Reaching into the Winds of Magic he manipulated a force of nature, electromagnetic fields. When the grenades came towards his feet they would not stop, instead their speed was increased and hurled behind Quin to explode in a firery display. Any shrapenal flying towards Quin would be repulsed and blocked by that same magnetic field that had flung them.

((I'm posting back in time for all intensive purposes to deal with the attack that Quin sent at me while I was in the air, then I will revert to where Akira was at the end of his last post.)) Akira smiled as the man's gun fired, though he wasn't exactly in the position to be dodging bullets he wasn't worried about it. The steel ball ripped through the air and impacted with his chest, adding a slight bit more of momentum to his flight however it seemed as if the bullet didn't do much damage to the man as he continued with his rolling actions. ((I'll address why he didn't get hurt when he stands up in a bit.))

The second after Akira had tossed the grenades, seemingly unaffected by the bullet, and hit the ground he began to work even more energy into the field. Though he wouldn't be able to negate what Quin was cooking up at the moment his field would work like a stone rolling down a hill. The field would become stronger and stronger with every passing second having an avalanche type affect.

The grenades which shot past Quin exploded in a fiery ball approxiamately five feet behind the man. Even though the other fighter propelled the grenades past him they were still a second away from exploding. The shrapnel produced from the explosion was of course blocked by the man's field however Quin had played into Akira's hand by propelling the projectiles behind him. The reason was this, Akira had expected that simple grenades this early in the game wouldn't take the man out, however the force contained inside of them was what Akira was counting on Quin to underestimate. When the grenades exploded they weren't just fire and shrapnel, there was a third force which Quin had not accounted for. When an explosive goes off it releases a concussive blast of force, which the electromagnetic barrier can not repel. This force would hit the massive surface area of Quin standing up right and throw him at least 10 feet past were Akira lay.

While the explosions went off and no doubt tossed the man, Akira rolled backward's bringing his feet in front of his body, at which point both of his legs lurched forward, the momentum of the movement bringing him to his feet. It was at this point that it became apparent as to why Akira had not been shot, the bullet which Quin aimed at his midsection sat safely lodged in the bullet proof vest which Akira had on. As his feet touched down on the ground Akira's left hand pulled out his desert eagle and trained it on the other fighter, regardless of where he might be. ((Had to put that in, in the case that Quin weasles out of the concussive blast)) At the same time his right hand wiped a block of material out of a pocket in the man's shoulder strap and threw it to the location of Quin. While the object lofted through the air Akira's hand grabbed a small silver object from his belt with a trigger on it. The plastic explosive continued it's flight through the air, Akira grinning all the while.

Thrown into the air by the blast wave of the explosion Quin held onto his blade. The rapier tore itself free of the ground and he was flying through the air. Twisting his body as he went he landed with a skid, the front of his shoes wearing down as his blade made a wretched amount of noise.

Steadying himself Quin grinned. Even if he couldn't use his magics directly on the man there were still some things the man didn't know about. Kissing the barrel of his weapon he looked towards where the bullet had enbedded itself.

For there was something special about the bullet, inscribed upon its lead surface was a number of runes that gave it a connection to the gun Quin held. A connection which Quin used to manipulate the course of the bullet, a connection Quin could use to effect Akira, even if not directly.

Dropping his body temperature severl degrees for the moment Quin unleashed a wave of force from his body that would be like getting hit by a freight trained, all of it was focused upon the bullet inbedded in Akira's bullet proof vest. All of it was barreling down, even if a portion would bleed of Quin kept pouring it in to force the man off his feet or drive the bullet further into him.

Because kevlar, if it was that, was just plastic weave, woven tightly albit, but it could be forced through with enough kinetic force. And Quin was transfering as much force into it as he could.

The explosives in the air would strike upon the wave of energy and be thrown off course, infact most likely back towards Akira if it didn't just fall, before it was narrowed down into a point towards the bullet.

((Edited for artistic purposes, no new attacks added))

Akira had been watching his opponent the whole time while the knight had flown through the air and landed on the ground. ((As stated the post before.)) Thus as the knight had got up off the ground and steadied himself Akira had already trained his gun at the man's head, fired off three .50 caliber armor piercing rounds that would turn the man's head into a stump on his neck. It was about right after this point in time that the knight would have launched his energy wave.

Akira grinned at the bullet in his chest as he saw the shockwave whipping out through the air but he wasn't overly concerned at all. The reason was this, if the force was meant to embedd in his chest, or more specifically the bullet in his chest. (As his opponent had stated) The C-4 which he had lobbed in the air held a wide arch through the air, not a line drive throw. Thus the C-4 would gently arc high over this concussive wave and land on it's intended target.

While the shockwave barreled down on Akira he had thrown himself to the side mid action of the knight, thus his body should be able to escape the main force of the blow. His right foot might get ********, but it was a loss Akira was willing to live with. While all of this had been happening the C-4 landed at the knights feet, Akira's grin widened and he pulled the trigger to the explosive. The C-4 exploded with the 50 times the force of the grenades.

It is a shame that a man with no traits to show that they are anything but human, save for a field that negates the paraphysical and unnatural, would try to fire a .50 caliber weapon one handed. The recoil of the first shot would send his hand wide off target that the other two wouldn't even be cause for concern. To fire such a weapon one handed would only make sure that the aim was knocked off by the recoil as even expert gunmen know that you must steady yourself and hold such a powerful weapon two handed; and even then the recoil will kick their hands up above their heads.

It is a further shame that Akira would think what Quin was doing was a wave, which would be false. No, what Quin was doing was asserting a large amount of mystical power into the general vacinity; some of it was absorbed but Quin was putting out enough that unless its power was greatly increased then there would be no hope to stop what he was doing.

So the field leached off the outer layers, trying to widdle it down; but that is all a screen for what he was doing. Focusing the inner layers into a tighter weave of stronger magic that wouldn't dissiapate so easily. And then he channeled it down the intangible rune connection between the lead ball and the flintlock.

There would be no wave to dodge as the force was not commanded upon Akira, but upon the lead ball inbedded in his vest. Even if Akira was rushing behind Quin, Quin could command the bullet to go foward and it would press against Akira away from Quin as from that stand point it would be moving foward instead of backwards.

So when Akira threw himself to the side it would make no diference. The energy boiled down that twisting link of a connection. It's target was programed in and it would follow it to its conclusion.

But then there was a new problem, in a high arc. Akira was lucky he had done that as in an instant Quin pulled the force away from Akira, completely changing the direction of the force and out of the negation field to a point where it could work nearly uninhibitive. An invisible hand smacked the C4 up to a point along the high wall of the arena.

So Akira would most likely have a sprained wrist, potentially even broken while escaping any harm from Quin's attack which had been shifted towards a deffensive purpose to knock the C4 away from them both.

However, things did not go as quin had planned for the C-4. Troughout the entire match Akira had continued to increase the amount of energy which he put into his negation barrier with every second. ((Ie every post)) And with each exponential increase in the strength of the barrier it was pushed outwards in a greater arch to compensate for the massive amounts of energy. By this point in the match the field was wide enough, and high enough, to completely encompass both his opponent and the C-4, thus as this concussive shock blast ripped up towards the C-4 which flew threw the air, the shockwave would seem to slow and then completely vanish, Akira's negation barrier in turn absorbing energy from the shockwave to augement Akira's own energy.

As for Akira, he flew threw the air, and landed on his shoulder skidding across the ground for a foot or so untiol he came to a slow stop. His right hand had sheathed his gun mid-flight, his left putting the detonator back in his pocket, and now Akira's hand went to the front of his chest. The C-4 would still land at Quin's feet, and explode with a massive amount of force, but just to make sure that the other man would not be able to escape the blast. Both left and right hands pulled two more grenades from the utility belt on the man's front and tossed them outwards to the left and right of the massive explosion, so roughly 2 seconds after the first massive blast would go off two more to the right and left would make the arena a rolling ball of fire. While the grenades arched threw the air towards their target Akira spun his legs around underneath him and jumped up to his feet. His right shoulder was pretty bruised and ********, but he could still use it and that was all that mattered.

((Bah! I've been out of internet for a few days because of moving to college.))

The gun was lost, unless he at one point switched hands with it. Going from pulling it out with his left hand, to firing and having the recoil throw off his aim, to putting it away with his right. Either Quin was given some extra time to work as Akira transfered his gun, or it was gone from his grip. Either way it was no longer any threat.

Now, Quin, he's a perceptive sort; so he could see that what he wasn't doing wasn't working. So he would be doing something different, and most certainly not standing still. Seeing how his magic wasn't working he rushed off before the C4 was even half way through its arc and was closing the distance with Akira.

While he did this he dropped the first flintlock to pull out his other one; but this wasn't a normal weapon. Sure it may look like a flintlock from the outside but the results of its warhead were far different.

So when Quin pulled the hammer back as he charged in at Akira and quickly aimed for the man as he was putting his own weapon away Quin squeezed the trigger and sent a round that for all intents travelled on a green flame. When it would hit it would strike with the force of a small grenade, though this one was a shaped charge so almost all of the force would be directed on Akira.

But Quin was still charging in, even as his right hand was kicked up from the recoil, he had aimed it a bit lower so that the recoil wouldn't spoil his aim.

All hell broke loose then as the C4 was detonated. It hurled Quin into the air and towards Akira.

Grinning with a predatory grin as the concusion blast ate away at his clothes and body he endured the pain as ribs poped and cracked under the pressure. But he pressed on through it.

More explosions would come, but they were back near the first. And by now the two of them were out of the more hazardous kill zone of shrapenal.

So it would be that the force of the first explosion forced Quin quicker into his charge against Akira. His sword was at the ready, gripped in his left hand. When the two collided as Akira was just getting back up Quin would aim a strike with the backet hilt as an impromptu set of brass nuckles towards the general head area.

Striking either the bridge of his nose; crushing if not out right breaking it, his jaw; making his teeth rattle if not out right knocking a few loose, or his neck; inflicting further harm onto the now blood covered region.

((Meh the mods and Clash haven't been to active lately so even if we did finish today it's not like the next round would start that quickly anyway.))
The bullet which Quin had fired off at Akira, had been launched roughly about the same time which Akira had thrown himself sideways through the air. Thus as the bullet ripped threw the air on it's green flamed path it speed past the young man, barely missing him with it's destructive path.

Akira had been watching the other man the entire time, seeing him be blasted towards him by the force of the C-4 which he had just tossed through the air. The thing was that thus far Akira had been in control of the match and the parameters around it as soon as he got his concussive blasts into play. He had always been a step ahead, anticipating his opponent's actions, thus he had known the other man would be flung at him by the force of the blast. So it was that when Akira had regained his feet he was already in action, moving to dodge aside.

Akira merely grinned, though there wasn't much reaction time he had enough, as soon as he was up off of the ground his feet pushed backwards on the ground, flinging him backwards and down away from the knight. The knight's path of travel would bring him directly over Akira who now was flying underneath the knight. While Akira jumped backwards his right hand had pulled out another block of plastic explosives, the left bringing out the detonator. So, as the man flew above him, in a very uncontrollable tragetory and speed, Akira swung his hand around in a blur towards the other man, a very sticky plastic explosive in his hand. If the knight could not find a way to rotate out of the way, mid-air, he would have a very lethal explosive attached to his armor, and Akira held the detonator in his left hand.

Akira though is assuming a number of things, one being that Quin is blind and can't see what's happening. The second that Quin posses not motor functions as though he was nothing more then a rag doll. And third, that he understood what was indeed happening.

When Akira was throwing himself down on the ground to let Quin sail over him he assumed that Quin was picked up off the ground a few feet so that he could escape with the man sailing over him. That is clearly not the case as Quin was hurled in the direction, his feet scraping along the ground.

Falling backwards to the ground wouldn't be wise. When Quin came of Akira, as he was falling to the ground Quin brought a foot down on Akira, in the general area of his hips. This point of contact would disrupt Quin's "flight" and change the direction there of.

With this change Quin's other leg was pulled up close to his body as he fell atop Akira, slamming his knee into his sternum. As he was falling Quin's natural instinct kicked in and his hands were brought before him as he fell. This would bring his swords edge across the area where Akira's throat was.

This would cause further damage and ultimately death if Akira didn't do anything to block it.

Quin's right hand which had been thrown high from the recoil was drawing back the hammer as he brought the weapon down again to aim.

I'm temporarilly making this thread sticky, as it is THE LAST thread for Round One.

The sticky will be scraped off when a conclusion is reached.

He'd seen enough. He already knew how this was about to turn out.

He hoped Quintilius would let the poor fellow live.

Hand's tucked in his pockets, an idle smile played over Rivven's lips as he walked through the stands to the exit, going on his way just a little more informed for the trouble.
