Jason smirked a bit as he noticed Emerial's mood shift. Boy were women so touchy! "I would like to say one thing though, Emperial." He said, turning to lead the group of them. "It's nothing against you... I just don't shake hands." Well at least not the hand of a woman. Ugh. Sometimes being polite was just so hard when manors weren't in order.
"Anyway..." He looked from Emerial down to Third and smiled. "I do hope that one day when Colby is older you could be his friend. I'm sure the boy will need someone like him to talk to. But for now the only response you'd get is a babble of giggles."
The boy on topic was leaning on Jason's shoulder, his eyes darting from Emerial and to Third then to Constant. There was a look that passed Colby's face, on that could be taken as two things. Either he was thinking to hard, or taking a number 2. A little thumb was shoved into his mouth, a fistful of Jason's hair taken into his hand before a muffled word came from his lips. "Aqggie!" He giggled around this thumb, tugging at Jason's hair happily as he looked at Constant.
Jason stopped, frowning at the hair pulling. "Colby!" He exclaimed, the pain dulled the moment the boy spoke and he laughed. "Wow, his first word. If you can call that a word." He stated more to himself than Emperial, assuming the woman wouldn't be at all in any way interested.

She wasn't, but Third was delighted enough to make up for it. He knew firsthand: even if a Forgotten baby could not talk, its sounds were not without meaning. "He speaks fine!" Third said cheerily, smiling at Colby. Constant barked in agreement and wagged her tail, thinking to Corpse about how humans were just so silly sometimes, and too bad they didn't have daemons because then they'd make a lot more sense.
"You guys coming?" demanded Emperial, walking off in the direction of her five-scoop gummy sprinkle chocolate sauce ice cream extravaganza.

Unfortunatly for Emperial, Jason hadn't heard her demand. He had crouched down to Third's level and smiled brightly at the boy. "Colby, this is Constant. Third's Demon. Can you say Constant?" Of course the question, even if encouragement wasn't going to work... but every parent did it.
Colby though, answered with a happy, "Awggie!" Once more, reaching out towards Constant. Corpse had to agree, humans were quite odd.

Constant made a good show of licking Colby's hand, always happy to make friends that treated her as an equal. Humans too quickly jumped to the conclusion that she was just a dog.
Third, always attuned to everyone around him, took a step after Emperial to suggest they follow, continuing to converse cheerily as he did: "If you could hear Colby and Corpse, I think you'd find they say a lot of words, just not ones you can hear!"
