I think that album is freaking great. I played it so much that my daughter would say "Not again" even though she likes Metallica. I played that cd until our car was impounded and the cd was in it. It was stolen before we could get it back. crying I miss it so.

St. Anger, in my opinion, is probably the worst of their albums.. but I can still listen to it. But after reading this, I did an experiment, I listened to Master of Puppets (The song) and St. Anger (the song). Master of puppets came out as the stronger of the two. I'm also not a big fan of ringing snare in St. Anger.

I totally agree with you Mike, you really need to see the movie then you might get the album the guys went thru HELL to make St Anger, and I personally think its a very underrated album.

not anywhere as good as their older stuff but i can still listen to it once in a while when i want to hear somthing different

I thought st. anger was the worst of their albums. After listening to load and reload I didn't expect st. anger to sound like master of puppets part 2, but I hoped it would have some similarities to their classic sound, and it definately did not.

Copy and pasting my opinion from the St. Anger thread:LizHG I heard bits of St. Anger watching Some Kind of Monster on Fuse a while back, and I thought "these sound okay, I'll buy the album" because at the time, while I considered myself a Metallica fan and had gone to the DC concert, I still hadn't heard all of their albums.
So, I bought the album, listened to it a few times (I was painting the fence that day so I had hours of music listening time) and I thought it was okay.
But after a few listens, it grew really...blah and I just didn't really like it. I like how personal it is, but I'll echo what I've heard said several times, Bob Rock should have been a little harder on what he let them record. Watching SKOM again (I bought it on DVD) I looked and saw what people meant by he was more of a friend than a producer.
I think between them not being in the best of shape to put together an album, a new writing process which I don't think really worked, Bob not saying "No, that's not good." and most of all when talking about just the sound of the music, Randy Staub (who did the engineering on the Black Album, Load, ReLoad, Garage, Inc., and S&M) had nothing to do with St. Anger. His only connection is the remix of SKOM (the song) on the Some Kind of Monster EP.

i really don't get why people don't like this album. its Metallica and Metallica is awesome. not liking this album is like saying Master of Puppets is one of their worst songs. my favorite songs in that album is Frantic, St. Anger, Sweet Amber, Shoot Me Again, The Unnamed Feeling, and Some Kind Of Monster.

NITExMARE i really don't get why people don't like this album. its Metallica and Metallica is awesome. not liking this album is like saying Master of Puppets is one of their worst songs. my favorite songs in that album is Frantic, St. Anger, Sweet Amber, Shoot Me Again, The Unnamed Feeling, and Some Kind Of Monster. i never really cared for st.anger

I really did try to give this album a chance, but I honestly couldn't get into it. St. Anger to Metallica is what Invincible did to Michael Jackson, what Chinese Democracy did to Guns N Roses, what 21st Century Breakdown did to Green Day. You get my drift?
