race: um, i want her to be an elf, but thats not one you mentioned in the steps so i dont know if its even allowed but, ............... sweatdrop

The racial attributes for a BESM elf are listed on page 12 of the BESM D20 Rulebook. It does not cost any extra CP to be an elf.

The stats looks good, you spent 36 character points so far on those, so you have 4 left for the later step, Attributes... What kind of character is this going to be? The techy/martial artist?

anyway, if by techy/martial artist you mean a techy going to Martial Artist in 2nd level, then no

Ok, so what we have so far is below. You still have 4 CP left and have no attributes, feats or defects. From being an Elf you get +2 Dex, -2 Con, Immunity to magical sleep, +2 save vs. enchantment, low-light vision, +2 to listen, search and spot skills, and the detect secret doors ability.

The Martial Artist only gets a few things at 1st level. I will list what can be traded in and what you would get for it.

Mainly, the Martial Artist gets +2 to his Unarmed Defense and Unarmed Attack skills, these can be turned in for 0.5 CP per +1. Also she gets +2 to Reflex and Will Saves, these can be turned in for 1 CP per +1 to a Save. She gets 4 + Int modifier skill points, this can be moved up to 6 + Int skill points for 0.5 CP or lowered to 2 + Int to net you 0.5 CP. Lastly she gets a d10 for Hit Points, this can be lowered to a d8, d6 or d4. Each Hit Die you move down gives you 0.5 CP, so moving to a d6 for HP gets you 1 CP. I got these costs from table 5-19 on page 32 of the rulebook.

I also listed your class skills for Martial Artist below in the Skills section, I would allow you to trade any Martial Artist class skills for Techy class skills. This trade is permanent. Class skills cost 1 Skill Point per rank, cross-class skills cost 2 SP/rank.


So as an example, you could change the Unarmed Skills to +1 each, giving you 1 CP. Change the Reflex save to a +1 instead of +2, giving 1 more CP. Then change to 8 + Int Skill Points per level, spending 1 CP. Also, we drop the hit die to a d6, giving you 1 more CP. Now we are are a little more Techy.
I will also trade my class skills, Controlled Breathing for Computer Use, Craft for Disable Device, Know: Cultural Arts for Know: Mechanics, Know: Occult for Repair and Medical for Research. This gives me a more Techy skill set, while preserving my more important MA skills.

In this example I now have 2 more CP to add to my total, giving 6 total CP before Defects. I would look first at the Techy Attributes. A first level Techy get Mechanical Genius +1 and Personal Gear +1, so I would probably spend points getting these Attributes. I did not carry these example changes on into the sheet below. You can choose whatever customizations you want from those listed above.

this is what sounds good to me:

change unarmed skills to +1 each = +1 cp
change Reflex and Will saves to +1 each = +2 cp
change sp to 8 + Int mod = -1 cp
keep hit point die at d10

trade Craft for Disable Device
trade Know: Cultural Arts for Know: Mechanics
trade Know: Occult for Repair
trade Medical for Research
trade Controlled Breathing for Computer Use
(these were good suggestions xd )

so now its 6 CP before Defects

i hav no idea how many points it would be to get Mech Genius and Personal Gear so..... sweatdrop

also, what is PHB( sweatdrop sweatdrop ), normal elf ages( sweatdrop ), and normal elf hieght/weight( sweatdrop sweatdrop sweatdrop )

other than that everything looks good 3nodding xd domokun

Ok, sounds great.

The PHB is short for the D20 Player's Handbook, you can find the age and height/weight info HERE.

The next step (Step 6) is attributes. You already know you want to look at Mechanical Genius and Personal Gear, so we'll start there. This section starts on about page 40 of the BESM D20 rulebook, and has a TON of options for each Attribute. There are far to many Attributes for me to simply list them, so I'll just suggest a few. You should look at the chapter yourself to better understand the wide uses of Attributes.

You would need 1 CP spent in Features: 1 (elven features), this covers the ears and almond shaped eyes, plus any differences in hair and eye color due to race.

Mechanical Genius: 1 allows you to repair things at double speed, and costs 2 CP / rank. 2 ranks would be 5x speed.

Personal Gear: 1 gives you 1 major and 2 minor items, and costs 2 CP. Items and Gear are covered in the description for this Attribute on page 57 of the rulebook.

This would leave you with 1 CP, which I would save for after you choose Defects.

The next step is to spend your Skill Points. You get 10 Skill Points at first level. You could also spend that last CP in Highly Skilled: 1, giving you 4 more Skill Points. I have listed your class skills below, plus Search because you get a racial +2 in it. There are a large number of other skills not listed below, but they all cost 2 Skill Points for 1 rank. Your class skills can be bought for 1 SP per Rank.

well i dont want her to be an adult more like a teenager so ill make her age 93(im guessing this looks about 17/18 )

ill figure out height/weight later(my brother begs to get on whee )

those are good attributes and i think i will give her highly skilled too.....

Looks good, so I posted a version with what we have so far below.

Step 8 was to select feats, but you only needed one, and that's Combat Martial Arts, so we'll skip that.

Step 9 is Select Defects. Defects are found on page 87 of the D20 BESM Rules.
Some good defects include:

Easily Distracted - this means your character may be paying attention to something that distracts her instead of what she should be. This can include almost anything, from jewelry to men to furry animals... You get 1-3 BP depending on how often this distraction comes up.

Marked - this at the 1 BP level would represent the fact that elves are NOT a normal race people encounter in the modern world.

Phobia - your character is scared of something. 1-3 BP depending on how bad it is, and how often it comes up.

There are plenty of other Defects that could apply, but I wouldn't go over 5 Defects. Once you choose your Defects and the BP levels you can take that BP and spend it on your character just like CP. You could buy more Attributes, increase you current Attribs, add to your Ability Scores, buy feats, buy back the class abilities we changed before.. whatever CP can be spent on, BP can be spent on.

well, as an elf Marked is probably a given = +1 BP
Phobia....i'll be silly and say she's scared of milk rofl = +2? 3?
she can be Easily Distracted by furry animals whee = +2

there are others on other people's sheets so i might add a few more.......


so far that's either 5 or 6 BP............

ill buy back Know: Cultural Arts, Medical, and Controlled Breathing leaving me with 2 or 3 BP left

btw- i saw the 2nd char xd

(also-can you earn skill points in the campaign? confused )

If you are going to buy back the skills then I would take another Rank in Highly Skilled, giving you 4 more points to divide between them. You get the same amount of skill points each time you go up a level, 8 + Int.
I also gave you WAY too few skill points.. at first level you get (8 + Int) x 4!!! So you should have had (8 + 2) x 4 + 4 = 44 SKILL POINTS! eek You already spent 14, so you need to spend 30 more anyways...

I would look at some of the other player's Attributes also to get ideas. There are more example BESM character sheets HERE you can look at too 3nodding redface

Don't get SP and CP mixed up smile

Recurring Nightmares gives 1 BP if they are just bad dreams and only slightly affect the character, 2 BP for more, worse dreams, and a moderate effect on the character's wakig life, 3 BP means constant nightmares, perhaps a fear of sleeping, and effects the character more heavily.

Hyper-active is probably a 1 BP Defect.

For every rank in Speak Language you actually speak one more language. You also should pick a Craft to specialize in. Options include Alchemy, Carpentry, Metalworking, Seamstress and Woodworking plus any crafts you can think of.
