Books! What use are those?!

It would be safe to say that Ogalax Myanfar Zefile was a man of science. But it would also be safe to say that he liked to break boundaries and take risks. These characteristics are slightly unusual for a scientist, but Ogalax was a different sort. Highly a**l about his work, he let few people in on his research and experiments. Those who did know kept his secrets closely guarded.

Ogalax was a man who also liked experimentation over research in libraries. He thought that hands-on work proved to be much more interesting, and he thought he found out more when he did the experiments himself. After graduating college with a degree in Bio-Chemistry, Ogalax began work at Delan Labs, a research company that created pharmaceuticals for various illnesses and disorders, very similar to Merck, and other large U.S. drug companies. He learned as much as he could while there, searching for new drugs and actually inventing a few important chemicals.

As time went by, Ogalax focused on psychological drugs--those that could change someone's mindset or the way their mind worked. First, it was depression medication. Then, something for anxiety. It was the anxiety medicine that was the real breakthrough for Mr. Zefile, and it was the first thing that made him famous. Most Solangans liked water, as it had been shown that they evolved from watery creatures hundreds of thousands of years ago. Even in Ogalax's day, many Solangans lived in bubble-like environments under the water, happy to be close to their natural habitat.

But there were exceptions to the rule. Some of the blobby creatures were deathly afraid of the oceans, and coming anywhere near the water made them unusually anxious. Perhaps it was because they thought their jellylike bodies would melt in the warm oceans--no one really knew. But Ogalax, whose wife suffered from this odd anxiety, worked hours upon hours of overtime to find a cure for her, as he loved the ocean, but hated taking her there with him. Her fear was just too overwhelming. After years of work, Ogalax stumbled upon a mixture of chemicals that helped his wife, and others like her, deal with their fear of water. Not only were they unfraid of it, but they actually enjoyed it.

As the years passed, Ogalax had a family, and continued his research, working diligently at the Labs, until one day, he mixed a special batch of chemicals together. He had been working on a drug that would allow Solangans to see things for how they really are--a truth serum of sorts. Instead, he created something much more interesting.

He decided that he'd experiment on himself first, so settlling down in his office in the lab, Ogalax took the chemical in a small dose and prepared for the results. He waited half an hour, then an hour...

Then, he started to feel a strange senstation in his body. It was nervousness, but not. It was anticipation and nerves all rolled into one. Ten minutes later, interesting things began to happen. He first noticed the pen on his desk...it looked alive, squirming around on the glass top like a worm. Gasping, he sat back in his chair and stuck a finger out toward it, jabbing it lightly. It squirmed again, this time turning to face him. Not quite sure what was happening, he moved toward the desk, getting close up to the pen-creature that had taken up residence there. It was still moving, and Ogalax was now more curious than ever about the pen-creature. He was temped to pick it up, but decided against it, leaving it on the desk to observe.

Out of the corner of his eye, he noticed something else strange...The wallpaper in the room was also moving--actually "breathing". As the circles on the paper undulated, they began to take on a life of their own as well. The colors in the paper had gotten brighter and the design seemed more crisp and three-dimensional. Ogalax quickly forgot about the pen-creature, and continued to stare at the wallpaper, watching it bend, and expand, enthralled.

He sat like that for at least an hour before the odd thoughts started coming to him. There were thoughts of his wife, and his family...and how his long days at work had affected them. He felt bad almost--he'd never felt that way about it before. He was a workaholic, and he never let his family come in the way of his job.

Now though, his thought process had changed entirely. Wasn't his family supposed to be more important than his work? Though his work might make him famous, did it matter? Or did his children and his wife matter more? Ogalax finally tore his eyes from the wallpaper, and he swiveled in his desk chair to pull the family photo from the bookcase behind him. Running his fingers over their faces, Og smiled and thought of them. They were a good family--a family he should have been proud of.

Standing up, he decided it was time to leave. He needed to get home and see them!

Plus, he needed a walk. Badly. Perhaps he'd see other amazing things as he made his way home.

-------------------------

Four hours later, Og bounded to the doorstep in front of his humble abode. Though the trip normally would have taken less than a half an hour, he had to admit that somehow everything around him seemed much more interesting. Everything was brighter, shinier, more colorful. It was almost overwhelming, and he had spent the past three and a half hours exploring this new world around him.

Quite an amazing drug, he thought. He'd have to market it. And soon.

But first, just a few more experiments...

Meanwhile, back on Gaia...

Kappa/Ein RP can be found here: http://www.gaiaonline.com/guilds/viewtopic.php?t=3324667

User Image
Kappa was sitting on a bench in front of the GoGo, enjoying the warm summer sun on his face, and the beautiful music erupting from his ever-present headphones. He'd been by the GoGo to see if Ici was around, but had found that the shop was closed for renovations.

Ichigo.

He hated think of her again after all this time. He hadn't seen her for months, and he was thinking it was about time that he got over it. She didn't like him anymore...that must be it.

But what would he do now? Kappa needed a change more than anything else. He was tired of pining after a girl who didn't seem to love him. It was time to move on.

As another song began playing, Kappa put together all his efforts to not cry. But he couldn't help it, and tears began to roll down his cheeks. He sat there, feeling sorry for himself for quite awhile, but eventually, he wiped his eyes with his polo shirt collar and looked up at the sky.

What now Kappa? What now kid?

naeodin
Kid was right! Ah, the power of being a narrator.

Ein screamed with delight as she ran hastily away from Ananchel. Silver couldn't come to the beach today-- something about hangoverness, or drinking. Or maybe both. She was face down in a dark room, the last Ein had seen. But Ein didn't care about anything except for the wind in her face, sea in her hair and... well, sand in her swimming suit. But it was all okay. BECAUSE IT WAS THE BEEEEEEEEACH!

Turning around and staring at Ananchel and the slow progress the other woman made, she stopped, grinning with delight as she waved her arm. Ananchel was so slow sometimes!

Invigorated as much as a toddler could be, she stepped around, legs giving up after the sudden burst of grace.

She wasn't too great at walking... yet.

And tripped.

...

OOOH.

That hurt.

User Image
Kappa heard the yelling, even through the blare of his ambient noise-proof headphones--which were of highest quality, of course.

Looking down from the sky to the street, he blinked a few times, the dots of brightness eventually fading away. It wasn't smart to look at the sun, he reminded himself, suddenly wondering who was making the screeching noise.

It was then that he noticed the little girl, who had fallen onto the pavement after what seemed to be a nasty spill for a toddler. He stood up and pulled his headhphones down to his neck quickly and helped the redhead up off of the pavement, checking her for brusies and scratches.

"Are you okay kid?" he asked her, giving her a smile.

naeodin
Ein scowled, staring at the other thing. Her screech of pain stopping midway, the snakes in her hair hissed with discontent. They had hated the beach, the sun had been nice but the salt water had heated their scales and scratched their eyes. So coming home was a delight. Returning, was heaven.

"Who you?" she asked, frowning as she stared at herself. Patting her arms and her legs (and her butt discreetly too... or as discreetly as a girl could maange) she stopped, making sure everything hurt only shy of hell and beamed. "EIN!"

She was Ein. Everyone needed to know who Ein was. Anyone who didn't well...

She was Ein.

"My name is Ein." she said, proud that she had managed the sentence. Did the man think she was a good girl? She hoped so. Everyone needed to think she was a good girl.

User Image
Kappa smiled at the adorable little toddler, watching her process the things that were going on around her. It was fun to watch a child learn about the world, just has he had little more than a year ago. He remembered when everything was new to him, and it made him feel a bit nostalgic.

She seemed proud that she hadn't hurt herself, and he was glad to hear that she wasn't damaged in any way. "Ein?" He gave her a smile and knelt down to her height, extending his hand to give it a shake. His mother had always told him to shake hands with new people, and he supposed it couldn't hurt to teach the little one about a proper introduction. "Nice to meet you Ein!" He grinned, giving her hand a light shake. "You have very cool hair," he added, noticing the snakes that seemed to be a bit...irritable. Staying far enough away that they couldn't bite him, Kappa made sure to watch out for the snakes. He wasn't very fond of snakes or snake-like creatures...Most of the time they were kind of creepy.

"Is your mommy around?" he asked the redhead, looking around for someone who might be her guardian.

naeodin
Ananchel followed behind her, if a bit slowly. Ein, perking up looked around, peering for the familiar long pair hair. "Mommy?" she queried. Hmm. No. Ananchel wasn't her mommy. Silver was! But Silver didn't seem to like being called mommy.

"Nanchel." Ein responded, pointing the woman at. At the sudden gesture the woman speeded up. Was Ein in trouble?

Probably not. But still.

"I'm sorry." Were the first words out of her mouth as Ananchel nodded at the man. "She has a habit of running away like that. She's learnt not to do that on a busy street (for now), but still." with a slight frown, she stared down at the young toddler in front of her. "Ein." she started.

"Nanchel." the girl repeated cheekily.

"I'm her... co guardian. Kind of." Ananchel reached out to shake his head. "Ananchel. It's nice to meet you. And I'm sorry if she's bothering you." Usually a woman of few words, Ein had a habit of flustering the seraphim.

User Image
Kappa looked up as Ein pointed to the woman coming up slowly behind her. Was that the girl's mom?

"That's her huh?" he asked looking down at the little girl as her mother walked up to him. "Hey," he greeted 'Nanachel, who looked a bit concerned for her daughter. "It's okay. She just fell down, so I thought I'd help her up." He shook her hand and introduced himself. "I'm Kappa. Nice to meet you." He gave her a knowing smile. "I've got lots of little brothers and sisters, so I know how it is."

He giggled as he watched the girl reply to her guardian. She was funny. He gave Ein a grin from behind her guardian. She was slick. "And no, she's not bothering me at all. I was just sitting here, trying to enjoy the day." He gave her a wary smile and looked down. "She's got some awesome hair," he added, watching the snakes move about.

naeodin
Ananchel caught herself from rolling her eyes. She would resemble her own charge too much if she did that, and resembling Silver... well, that was more of an insult that she cared for.

"Kappa?" wondering if the man meant this literally, she nodded her head. "That's good." too many times had the brat annoyed strangers, and Ananchel wasn't feeling up to apologizing again. "I'm glad." looking around, at the bench, she frowned.

She didn't have a human's sense of modesty, so she asked. "Are you waiting for someone? Looking, at something?" What was the point of sitting alone?

Ein bobbed her head. "Awsum." she repeated. What a pretty pretty word.

"It's more trouble than it's worth, really." Ananchel said.

User Image
He chuckled. "Yeah, Kappa...You'd probably be a bit surprised to hear how I came about," he said, nodding. "One day, long ago, I was a piece of Kappa Maki. I know, I know...It's a bit strange, but what isn't strange around here," he said, motioning to the world around him. Gaia was in a state of perpetual weirdness, he thought. "But one day I fermented, and I became a little sushicreature...When I became an adult, I actually grew to the height of a normal human, so it's pretty cool now."

He realized he was rambling, but he liked to tell the story of how he came about. Not everyone was once a piece of food. "Nope, she's no bother at all," he continued. "I was just looking for someone at that restaurant over there," he said, pointing to the GoGo--the place where he'd grown up. "But it's closed, so I was just sitting here, deciding what to do next...I kinda got caught up in my music."

naeodin
Ananchel nodded. Wierd things. She understood that. She had been created from an orb, more or less. Although it was less startling than a piece of food. "Didn't anyone try to eat you?" she asked. Honestly. What would these gaians do next?

Ein in the meanwhile, perked up. Moosic? She knew moosic! "Moosic!" she said, making grabbie grabbie motions. They had something at home that played that stuff, next to the tv. Except she didn't know how it worked. Surrond sound was the way to go, baby.

"It closed?" Staring, Ananchel nodded. "Well, we're heading into the stores to pick something up. Some kind of oil to prevent the snakes from drying out? Molting, I think. Shedding." Bah. What did she know about snakes? "We've got to keep the scales tuned up, really."

User Image
"Actually..." He smiled, not remembering this part of the story, but hearing it from Sizzla had given him an idea of what he was before he was a sushicreature. "I was a leftover. My mom doesn't really like sushi, so she had quite a bit left after she was done at the restaurant. She accidentally left the takeout container on the counter overnight, and when she woke up, I was there waiting for her, trying to find a way out of my styrofoam tomb!" He laughed remembering back to his first experience on Gaia...It was a struggle to get out of the container, but Sizzla had managed to get him out before he had to smell too much fermented sushi!

Looking down at Ein, Kappa took his headphones off and selected a pretty electronic piece from his iPod for her to listen to. He put the headphones on the little girl's head, adjusting them so they wouldn't slip off. "Wanna hear some nice music Ein?" he asked, right before playing the song. He didn't want her to be afraid when the music came on.

Once she was ready, he pressed play and let her enjoy the sound through his high-quality headphones...They were surround sound enough for one person...

Turning back to Ananchel, he glanced at the GoGo. "Yeah, they've been closed for awhile now it looks like...I grew up there, so I wanted to come back and visit." He paused, making sure that he'd contained his emotions. "I can imagine that the snakes wouldn't like the beach. You'd have to keep them well-oiled, that's for sure. The salt water probably makes them itchy," he said, nodding sagely. Like he knew what he was talking about...haha.

naeodin
Ein paused, listening. Her eyes widened and she squealed in delight, jumping slightly. It was so loud, and it felt like it was coming from all around her! Home sound was good, but it didn't feel like this. This was personal. It was all hers.

Doing a little victory boogie at the music, she beamed up at Kappa. She _liked_ this man. Look at what he had given her! Given, of course. She didn't think he would want it back any more. (Why would he, really?)

Ananchel wrinkled her nose, suddenly extremely wary about any food she had eaten in the past. If it turned out she had... nah. She was sure it was only sushi and the like, and she was sure the place had been long since closed before she had arrived on gaia. Good for her then.

"We're heading to town, why don't you come with us?" she offered. "Ein doesn't seem like she'll be giving up your headphones soon, and it'll be nice to have proper company."

Ein wasn't, because she was a toddler. And Ananchel wasn't afraid to speak her mind about that.

User Image
Kappa turned the volume down just a bit so that she wouldn't go deaf. He didn't know much about kid's hearing, but he figured loud wasn't necessarily the best thing for her. He smiled as he watched her dance around, enjoying the music. Little did he know that there might be a struggle to get his beloved headphones and iPod back.

"Sure, I can come with you. I don't have anything better to do, and it's nice to get to meet new people. I haven't been getting out much," he said with a sad smile. "Do you think she'll ever give them back?" he asked, pointing to the little girl.

naeodin
Ananchel snorted. "Are you kidding?" she grinned. "She'll take them home, and wonder why the music isn't coming back from the headphones. And then she'll think its some kind of magic." the kid had a very strong imagination-- not that she was complaining! Much.

Ein looked up when the to adults continued to talk, and nodded her head. To town, to town! Ananchel had promised to buy her some hello kitty hair pins to decorate her hair with-- her mommy refused to do anything that involved the snakes, so of course-- Ananchel was really it.

Poor Silver for not understanding the love of snakes.

"Hello kitty too?" she asked, curious as she looked up at the other man. hey, she hadn't known men liked hello kitty!

User Image
"Magic's cool," Kappa concurred, looking down at Ein, who seemed to be enjoying his headphones. "I'll be sure to grab them up before she has a chance to get away with them," he continued with a smile.

Adjusting his messenger bag on his back, Kappa looked to Ananchel. "What kinds of things are you looking for in town?"

It was then that he heard Ein's small voice. "Hello Kitty?" he asked her, bending down to her level so he could hear her better. "Do you like Hello Kitty Ein? I've seen a lot of Hello Kitty stuff, and she sure is cute!"

It wasn't that Kappa was particularly interested in Hello Kitty--he just wanted to be friendly to the little snake-haired girl. He'd heard OF Hello Kitty, but had none of the products himself, though he though Ici might have some figurines or something. She was a pretty girly girl.

naeodin
Ananchel tugged at a small list from her pocket. "Groceries, mostly. And presents. I promised Ein I'd get her something cute if she did well with her letters... and she's done well enough." the girl was ditzy at best, so it had been promising to see her learn.

And pretend to study.

Ein nodded her head, beaming. It wasn't really that she liked hello kitty, but that she liked cute stuff, and hello kitty was cute! Especially the red ribbon. That reminded Ein of her hair.

Yummy. Hello Kitty probably wanted snakes in her hair too. Did snakes get along with kitties? She hoped so.

Leading the way, Ananchel smiled. The man seemed nice enough. "Perhaps, I could leave her with you while shopping for food?" she asked. "She's got a sneaky habit of taking out all the food I put into the cart, and replacing it with her own." Ananchel made a face to show just how she felt about _that_.

User Image
"Her letters?" He looked to Ananchel. "Has she been learning the alphabet? I suppose it's probably about that time. I don't know much about child development, but she looks old enough to learn the alphabet."

Looking down at Ein, he could see the pride on her face. She seemed happy to be learning at least, he thought. He gave the girl a smile. "Can you sing the alphabet song Ein?"

Before she could get to the song, Kappa nodded to Ananchel, more than happy to take Ein off her hands while she went shopping. "Sure, I can do that. I'm sure you probably come away from the store with every kind of candy and junk food there is," he laughed, imagining the little girl replacing vegetables with hot dogs and Pixie Sticks.

"What'cha think Ein? Wanna hang out with me while your mom goes to the grocery store?"

naeodin
Ein giggled. She could sing her alphabets! A C B.. hmm. Well. She knew what it was supposed to sound like, and had the melody down perfectly, just at a slightly off kilter pitch.

"Mommy?" she asked, giggling as if some gigantic joke had exploded between them. "Silver my mommy." she said. Ananchel was... what? Not sister, not aunt.

Well. Maybe Ananchel was a mommy too, then.

Nodding her head eagerly (this man had GIVEN HER THIS COOL MUSIC THING!!), she waved at Ananchel.

Ananchel stood there, half distracted. Had her little brat just dismissed her? Probably.

"Aye Bee Cee" she started.

And the rest wasn't important.

User Image

Kappa looked slightly confused, trying to decipher what Ein was talking about. Silver was her mommy? Had she somehow been kidnapped by Ananchel? Surely not. The woman seemed to know her well enough, so Kappa pushed his negative thoughts to the back of his mind. He couldn't elp but wonder who her real mother was though.

"Who's Silver?" he asked the little girl, still a bit curious. He looked to Ananchel for further explanation.

Kappa chuckled as Ein started singing her ABC's. She was adorable.

naeodin
Ein stared up as if this man didn't know what he was talking about. "My mom." she answered, getting just as confused.

Ananchel grimaced. "Silver is the main guardian for Ein. Not her biological mother, mind you. Ein's been adopted as a..." she hesitated. No one had told her not to tell, but it seemed wrong, implying Ein's criminal past. "an act to reform a criminal?" But there was no way around it, in Ananchel's mind. "She's a college student, and my charge too. But... I'm not her guardian."

Gods. That would make her this girl's _grandma_. And she, no matter how young she appeared, did not want to be a grandma.

Ein nodded. What was the place called again? Something crimnel.

User Image

Giving Ein a ruffle of her hair, Kappa just nodded. "You've got a lot of good people to help take care of you, don't you? That's good to hear." Good. So she hadn't been kidnapped. There was no need for an Amber Alert at this point, and he exhaled softly, glad to hear that news.

He glanced back at Ananchel, who had finished explaining their family situation. The part about a reformed criminal really caught his attention. "Wait, what? She's an act to reform a criminal? How so?" Surely the little redhead wasn't a criminal. She was far too innocent-looking to even assume she could ever do anything bad, let alone get convicted for it.

naeodin
Ananchel frowned. She remembered what Ein had been charged off... kind of. It had been a while ago, and she hadn't really been paying much attention either. "I don't get it myself." humans. The things they came up with. "Apparantly in her home planet, she was charged of a crime." Ananchel remembered vaguely that it had something to do with death. "And sent to Gaia to be reformed, except she's been reincarnated too." with a grin, she reached out to ruffle the girl's hair.

The snake were placated. They liked _this_ one, so they didn't put up much of a fuss at the mauling.

"She doesn't remember much, I think. Or she hasn't given us a clue." Ananchel also remembered that Ein had been extremely young. Damn her memory.

"So, she's not dangerous." a smirk accompanied her words. Well. Unless stupidity could be dangerous.

User Image

Kappa looked at Ananchel, utterly confused. "So you're telling me that this little girl is a reformed criminal? Wow, that seems SO unlikely. I mean, look at her!"

He looked down at Ein, who seemed to be the picture of innocence. "Well, I hope she's reformed," he said, giving Ananchel a hopeful glance. "She certainly doesn't look dangerous, so I think I can handle it."

"Just be sure to come back and get her from me when you're done shopping," he added, giving her a wink.

naeodin
Now THAT was an idea. With another considering look, Ananchel nodded. "I'll be just across the stret, okay, Ein?" she said, looking down at the girl. "Will you be around here, then?" she asked.

Leaving her. Maybe for a couple of days. A couple of days of blissfull sleep without some stupid hello kitty song interfering and causing nightmares, no voice howling the abc's. Oh, peace and quiet.

That sounded worth the kid abandoning, sometimes.

"Be prepared, Kappa." she said, half joking. "That girl is armed."

Ein beamed, deciding that it sounded nice enough to be armed.

User Image

"We'll be right around here," he replied, surveying the area. There was a small park across the street, and he figured they could hang out there until Ananchel returned. "You enjoy your time at the store."

Armed. ha. Armed with cuteness!

"I'll be sure to watch out for her devious criminal ways." He waved at the woman, ushering her toward the store. "Don't worry. She's smaller than I am."

Kappa looked down at Ein and smiled. It seemed that she trusted him enough, and she didn't seem like a criminal at all. Reaching out to her, he offered a suggestion. "Want to go to the park? Or, what do you like to do?"

naeodin
Ananchel nodded. She walked towards the door, pulling out a neat piece of paper with writing that ran down the sides. Hoo, boy. Shopping.

The park? Ein frowned, grimacing. Looking around, her eyes fastened onto a shop full of pink and light blue dolls in the windowsill. And none of those scary proceline kinds either! "There!" she exclaimed, reaching for his hand and barely hearing anything else over her focus and the din of the music. Music was FANTASTIC. She was going to get her mom to get her one of these portable things.

Whatever that meant.

"In?" she asked, looking back once to make sure that he wasn't too unwilling. She didn't want someone to be doing something they didn't want to, really.

User Image

Kappa watched as Ananchel left Ein in his care. He hoped she'd come back for her. After all, she couldn't have been serious. She was one of Ein's guardians, and surely, she'd return for her.

He saw that she wasn't so fond of the park idea, so instead, he watched Ein as she debated what she wanted to do. It was not very long after that she set her eyes upon a doll shop--perfect for the little criminal. "You want to go in there?" he asked her, giving her a smile.

"I'll bet we can do that. Here, grab my hand and we'll get across the street." He held a hand out to her and let her hold it, and he made sure to look both ways before leading them across the street.

Soon enough, he was pushing the door to the doll shop open, and leading Ein inside with a tinkle of bells from the doorhandle. "Ready?" he asked her, just waiting to see her eyes light up. Girls liked dolls it seemed.

naeodin
Oh and did her eyes light up! Looking like a junkie who sensed his or her next hard core fix, except... child like, she nodded her head. She liked this one! And if he liked her back, this could be the beginning of a very fruitful relationship.

"Uh huh."

She had seen this shop before. She was sure of it. But she hadn't been inside it yet. There was something about saving a new toy store for a good, special day that spoke to her heart. Really. And this seemed like it was going to be that special day.

User Image

Kappa could see the excitement in her eyes, and it made him happy. They were getting along so nicely! He was afraid he wouldn't do very well with kids. Hell, he was practically a kid himself. Just a year ago, he was a little sushicreature, unable to do much but waddle around and wave his stumpy arms in the air. Now, he was a full-grown man. And life had gotten much more complicated very quickly.

But spending the afternoon with Ein was taking away his bad feelings about life, and even if it was for just an hour or so, he could forget about Ichigo. Maybe he needed a kid to keep him company, he thought--only briefly of course. Like he needed any more complications to his life!

Ushering Ein into the store, he followed her around as she examined the shelves full of toys. "What kind of toys do you like Ein?" he asked, surveying the shop for the doll aisle. Little girls liked dolls, right?

naeodin
What kind of toys did she like. What a question! "All!" she answered promptly, her eyes lighting up on the dolls that were paraded in front of her. Oof! That one had a pink dress on, this one was softer looking, and look! That one had wierd things sticking out of it's hair too!

Oh, wait. Those were rollers.

"Kappa like?" she asked, motioning to the dolls. She had never gone shopping with someone other than Silver or Ananchel before. This would be fun! And if he was a good girl, maybe Ananchel would buy him a toy too. Because that was what Ananchel always said to her.

'If you're a good girl, I'll buy you a doll.'

"Kitty." she said, all but purring as she reached out for something her level. The snakes in her hair went after it too, purring lightly as they chewed on the ribbon on it's hair.

User Image

"All toys huh? Well, you're easy to please, aren't you?" He could tell she was enjoying the dolls, and debated buying one for her. She thought it'd make her happy, so before they left, he'd be sure to have her pick something out.

"Well, I'm not really into dolls," he admitted, giving the red-head a shrug. "But I did live in a big dollhouse once. All of my friends lived there too. It was really fun." He paused, pointing to the dollhouses on the other side of the aisle. "Like that one," he said, pointing to one of the biggest. "I can't live there anymore now though. I'm too big!"

He wasn't sure if Ein heard him, but regardless, her attention turned to something she called 'kitty'. "What'cha got there Ein?" he asked, moving closer to her, seeing that the snakes in her hair were also enjoying whatever toy was in it's jaws.

naeodin
He had lived in a doll house? That was her dream! Silver hadn't bought her a dollhouse yet, claiming that they were expensive and frivolous, a waste of money when Ein could wear pretty clothes and have pretty jewellry instead. And was this man with wierd things where music came out from, and the memories of living in a doll house! Why, he had the life she wanted, he did. She was jealous. And envious.

And she would have said so, if she knew what jealous and envious meant.

"Kitty." she said, turning to show it to Kappa. She held it in the grip of a proud new mother, eager to show off their new kid. Or something just as proud, because she was.

Proud, that was.

User Image

Smiling down at Ein, Kappa squatted down to get to her level and he gave the 'kitty' a pat on the head. "Do you like the kitty?" he asked her, momentarily giving the tag a flip so that he could see how much this stuffed animal would set him back.

Just a thousand gold. Easy enough. Kappa had been working at the club, and he had gotten paid only a few days earlier. Money wasn't really tight, and he had no one else to spend it on except for himself. He figured that buying Ein a toy wouldn't break the bank.

"How about I get it for you?" he asked, holding a hand out so that she could give it to him so he could pay for it. "You think Ananchel would be okay with that?"

naeodin
Ein watched Kappa with big eyes that seemed to shine with adoration. Buy it, for her? She had never heard better words in her entire life! Letting out something that resembled a squeal of delight, she nodded her head.

"Kappa will?" she asked, entranced at the thought. Deciding that he was the second favorite person in the world, (Silver and Ananchel shared first together. There was no hope for that) she picked it up and handed it reverently to Kappa.

"Love Kappa." she said cheerfully. And it was true, kind of. She loved this man! And she was going to take these earphones home with her too.

Kappa was pleased as he looked into Ein's big, joy-filled eyes. He was doing something nice for her, and it was a good feeling. He didn't get to give gifts to people very often, and not to too many people. Ichigo was the only person he'd given gifts to, and though that always made him feel good, it was more of a requirement than anything. Women liked gifts. That was just the way it was. And girlfriends expected gifts. Kappa was always more than happy to oblige, as long as he could afford it.

Now that he thought about it, Ein was sorta like a woman--she was a girl at least. Close enough, he figured, looking down at the toddler.

He chuckled when she proclaimed her love for him. "Aww, thanks Ein! You're a sweet little girl," she said, taking the stuffed kitty from her before the snakes decided that it'd make for a tasty dinner. "Let's take this up to the font and we'll get it paid for okay? We've been here for awhile--I wonder if Ananchel is done shopping?"

Reaching out a hand so that she could grab it, he nodded. "Ready?" Walking up to the front counter, he plopped the plushie down, waiting to see what it would put him back.

naeodin
Ein smiled. She liked people. They were usually nice to her, and those who didn't always had a reason not to be. And what this man was doing only reaffirmed that people were generally a nice group. Fantastic, really. Ein loved people. Strangers. And she adored the ones who bought her things, complimented her to did something just for her.

And really, this man had achieved all three. Taking his hand securely with her own and making sure that kitty wasn't harmed in any way, she nodded her head. They would go pay, and then she would have a pretty thing to show Ananchel! Wow, was she going to be proud of her, for having found such a nice man to hold onto.

"Kappa want doll too?" she asked, concerned as she looked around the store. Maybe he needed something to balance out the scales.

User Image

Kappa exchanged a few bills with the woman at the counter, letting Ein's hand go for only a second while he reached for his wallet. As soon as he had the change back into the leather billfold, he handed the kitty back down to her with a smile.

"Here you go. Now you've got to think of a name for your kitty." He gave her a nod and motioned toward the stuffed animal. "Think of anything yet?" Though Kappa was sure that Ein was much too young to understand everything he said, he noticed that she was remarkably bright for her age. As if she'd been around longer than she let on.

He chuckled at Ein when she suggested that he might want a doll too. "Nah, I don't need one...I was doll-sized after all, so I'm not a huge fan," he said with a smile. "Let's go meet up with Ananchel. I'll bet she's waiting for us."

He gave the girl's hand a squeeze and pushed open the door for her. Following her back outside, he noticed that evening was beginning to descend. "Almost dinnertime eh? I hope Ananchel got you some good food for dinner..."

naeodin
Ananchel was indeed, waiting outside. She had weighed the thought of looking for them, but it had seemed safer to wait here, where she could see most of the stores. So when Kappa stepped out with a beaming Ein...

Well.

Ananchel smiled. Slowly. It was nice, having time alone. Maybe she should invest in this whole baby sitting idea. It sure seemed more interesting then it let on.

So she walked forewords, carrying few parcels (delivery was a gift sent by god, honest.) and even fewer notes, when she spotted the doll.

"Thank you, Kappa." she said, sincerely. "But there was no need to bribe her to stay quiet in your company."

Ein looked up, not understanding. What? But it didn't matter. She had her doll in one hand! "Kitty." she said. What else would you name Hello Kitty but Kitty?

Ananchel didn't understand, but it didn't matter.

User Image

Kappa spotted Ananchel as soon as they walked outside, and he saw the smile on her face. She'd probably enjoyed her alone time. Kappa had enjoyed hanging out with Ein, but he also had the realization that having a kid 24/7 was probably a bit trying...He certainly wasn't ready to have kids just yet, but this little adventure had given him an idea of what it might be like. He'd never babysat before.

"You're welcome," he said with a grin. "Nah, I didn't need to bribe her. She was very good actually. I just saw her eyeing this plushie, so I thought I'd get it for her. And the snakes seem to like it too, so that's a bonus."

Turning to Ein, he knelt down. "Kitty is an excellent name. I hope you take good care of Kitty." He paused. "Here, I've got to get going--It's almost dinner time. I hate to break it to you, but I need those headphones and my iPod back." He reached out and removed the headphones from her neck, putting them around his own. Luckily, one of her hands was full of Kitty. He'd hoped she wouldn't throw a fit when he had to take his music-machine back.

As swiftly as he took the headphones, he snatched up the iPod and slid it back into his pocket. "Maybe if you're a good girl, I'll give you one of these one day. You've got to promise to be a good girl though."

naeodin
Ein's eyes were shining as of he had promised to give her the world next week. She was a good girl, wasn't she? That's what Silver told her. So she nodded her head rapidly.

Ananchel laughed. A little, rueful noise that escaped her, and ducked her head to trap whatever it was that had planned to leave her mouth next. Instead, she nodded her head, grinning slightly.

"Thank you." she said, smirking. For entertaining the little girl. "I hope we see you again?"

He was a good babysitter. And next time? If she had to steal all of Silver's credit cards, she was going to get him to keep Ein. "We've got to get going as well. Are you hungry, Ein?"

Ein nodded, and waved at Kappa. See? She could be good! And so she waved, beaming. Wasn't she a good girl?

She'll count the days until she got his iPod.

NEWSFLASH!

The Planetary Press, June 29, 2006

Planetary Press--SOLANGA

Ogalax Myanfar Zefile, the Solangan scientest and researcher who had been charged with child abuse, was found guilty during the sentencing phase of his trial today.

The revered scientist had little to say once the verdict was handed down, and he left the courtroom in handcuffs silently and solemnly. The jury seemed to have no mercy for the criminal, who has been sent to Gaia for reformation through the Interplanetary Criminal Relocation Service (ICRS).

"I'm sorry for what I've done," Zefile said in an interview Friday at Solanga's Barin Prison. "But it was in the name of science, which I will uphold to my death. I look forward to living my life over again, and I hope to correct the mistakes of my past. I do hope that none of the little girls has been harmed, mentally or physically."

According to ICRS rules, Zefile will be sent to Gaia, a planet many light-years away. He will spend his time in a new body, getting used to a new world, in hopes that his reformation will cleanse his mind, and prevent him from taking part in such atrocities again.

Zefile was officially charged with a series of crimes, including kidnapping and the forced drugging of small children, all of whom were female. None of the girls have been hurt, though a few have suffered strange hallucinations, or "flashbacks" as a result of the drugging.

The Making of a Daddy

It was unnerving.

Kappa blinked, expecting the little girl to do the same.

But she didn't. She just stared.

And it wasn't like she was staring at him, but rather, slightly over his shoulder, at the wall behind him.

It had been going on for a matter of minutes now--about 30 minutes in fact, and Kappa was rather amazed. He didn't think a kid could go this long without blinking. But as he looked back to his own childhood, he realized that children had a lot more will than adults did many times. Maybe she thought it was a game?

But the look on the infant's face was empty and blank--no game was being played here. Kids playing games would crack a smile or something! The sushicreature chuckled and sat back on the couch, continuing to play along, just in case she was faking it. He wasn't sure how long he could last under these conditions. She sure was adament about winning.

He'd already checked the wall to see what she could possibly be looking at, but Kappa had been living rather spartanly, and he had very few things hanging on the walls. And currently, behind him, all there was was a wash of white wall. Bor-ing!

As the little criminal stared into space, he began talking to himself out loud, ready to break the silence.

"So, I guess you're gonna need a name huh?" He paused and winked at her. "How about 'Lil Convict? It's a good name, right?"

If Ogalax was more coherent at that point, he surely would have been offended. But unfortunately, his mind was extremely clouded--he could barely hear Kappa's words over the ruckus of sound in the room, let alone comprehend them.

All he could do was stare at the man, watching has his face wavered and contorted, the colors changing rapidly and patterns overlaying patterns. It was almost too much, but his infant mind couldn't comprehend what was going on. So instead of freaking out like he might back on Solanga, he enjoyed the experience from his new body, amazed at what was happening in front of his now wide-open eyes.

"Well, I'll have to think of something good," Kappa said, breaking the silence. The kid had barely squeaked the entire time they'd been together so far. It had only been a matter of hours, but still...he expected some crying, or something!

Our first trip to the GoGo

Sizzla
Kappa walked by the plate glass window in front of the GoGo, not really noticing quite where he was. Sev was strapped to his chest in a makeshift backpack-thing, gurgling to herself and staring, wide-eyed into nothing.

He took a deep breath and settled himself, hoping his stomach would stop twittering. He hadn't been into the restaurant in a long, long time...

After all the drama with Ichigo, he wanted to stay as far away as he could--and he had, at least for awhile. Now though, he wanted his daughter to meet his friends.

Pushing the door open, he scanned the restaurant, looking for the mansion. It was where it had always been, and he walked over and sat down in the table next to it, unhooking Sev from her carrier and bouncing her on his knee.

"Hey Chef, can I get some tea please?"

Lulu_Tiffany
Sake smiled "your ok love" he looked at her sewer "oh, i just hand sew my patches on" suddenly there was a voice "oh, someones out there" he smiled kindly at his new friend "why dont you get dressed then we can go see who it is togeather, k?"

Mini Sparrow
"Ah, Um. OKay!" She said turning back into her room, half way through running to her dresser she turned around and went back to the door. "I'll have to close this real quick, sorry!' she said shutting the door. The girl quickly pulled on a pair of Jeans she had made and a white tanktop, leaving her feet bare, and her robe scattered on the floor as she ran back to the door, opening it back up.
"Alright, where to?"

Lulu_Tiffany
Sake nodded "very nice love" then showed her his bag "lets find my old room first then see who is outside, ok?" he took her arm into his and smiled "im afraid i haven't been around muich" they walked a few rooms down "all right" he quickly opened the door and droped the bag into it then shut it "im sfraid its not clean" he sweatdroped and took her arm again "shall we then?"

Sizzla
The waitress had brought him his tea, and Kappa sipped on it as Sev yanked on strands of his hair. She had an awfully firm grip, considering she was a baby. Her dreads poked him in the arm, and he'd swat them away, not quite used to their probing.

"Anyone home?" he called out toward the mansion, seeing the window and balcony to his own room. He missed it there sometimes.

Mini Sparrow
Tamago liked this Gogo. No one had ever called her 'love' before either. She smiled, making a mental note to stay in more often. She heard a voice calling from outside the mansion, was it one of the other owners?
"Lets go check that voice out!" Tama said, pulling the white haired gogo along.
She pulled open the mansion doors and looked around outside. Sitting at the table next to them was a boy, with a baby clambering all over him. Something about him was faaamiliar, yet she wasn't sure she had ever met him before.

Lulu_Tiffany
Sake smiled as he was pulled along, this gogo was fun. when her saw the taller gogo he knew who is was "Kappa!" he wavied "what, you knock up a girl?" he winkedat him in a playful jest.

Sizzla
Two familiar faces emerged from the mansion, and Kappa grinned. He was quite glad to see his friends again. They hadn't changed much, he saw. Who knew when a GoGo would grow, after all?

"Hey guys!" He waved to them, and turned to face the mansion more directly, sitting Seveile down on her bottom on his knees. She was complacent enough, shoving her fingers into her mouth and gumming on them.

"What's up Sake? Long time no see buddy! And, no, I didn't knock up a girl. She actually came in from space," he said matter-of-factly.

"Hello Tama. I don't think I've seen you in...well, a really really long time." He gave her a slight smile. He'd always liked Tama. They had good times together when they were sushicreatures.

Mini Sparrow
Tama's mouth was ajar in suprise. " Kappa?!" She sad in disbelief. "You're.... b-b-big!!' she stuttered out. She liked kappa since the day they met, but after he had saved her at the beach she really adored him and wanted to see him again.. but this time.. he was all grown up... She looked herself over, she hadn't grown at all... Not wanting to be a downer, she looked up and smiled at his little girl.
"A lot has changed.."

Lulu_Tiffany
Sake picked up on the sudden disstress with Tama and stepped behind her, warpping his long arms aound her shouders "well of corse love, we might not have changed in hight like he did, but we did change in that we are together now righ?" he smilled at Kapa "shes a great gal right? deserves joy" he smiled.

Sizzla
Kappa just grinned like the huge nerd that he was. "It's so great to see you guys! A lot has happened. I dunno. I felt like I had to get out of here...see the world for myself, you know? There's a lot outside those doors."

He gave Tama a wink, and reassured her. "No worries, you'll be big like me soon enough--though I heard Hibiscus Tea can actually change her size. So, maybe that'd happen to you too. It's not so bad being small."

Turning to Sake, Kappa noticed that he was hugging her. "Of course! I want the best for all of my friends," he said, giving the boy a smile. "Are you two...an item?" It sounded almost gossipy, but then again, Kappa hadn't been around in awhile.

Mini Sparrow
WHAT WAS GOING ON?! Tama felt odd having Sake behind her. She had never had a boyfriend like EBi or Ichi did, and she had just met Sake! Was that how it happened? Kappa had asked if they were an "item".
"Uh, I uh.. " Tama was lost for words. She wasn't sure about this, and the smile had faded from her lips as she was lost at what to do, or say. What would Kappa think? All she could do was blush.

A colorful room for a colorful girl

((reserved))

Synopsis:

• Kappa gets reallly tired of Sev sleeping in his room, so they find a solution to this problem: a Fischer-Price plastic playhouse now sits in the living room, with a small crib inside it.

• Kappa decides to pain the playhouse in colors that match Sev's. He also adds funky patterns for another fun touch, not knowing that the designs will move around when she looks at them.

• For the first time in weeks, Kappa gets a good night's sleep. But why?

• Sev keeps herself entertained all night as the patterns on the walls shift and move and become creatures that talk and tell her stories. She hardly sleeps, but enjoys every minute of it!

• Kappa's still amazed at her inability to sleep, but figures she will if she needs to...

There's nothing like finding out he's got a kid!

Ici worked the tables at GoGo as if it were a runway. She glided through the rows, balancing dishes on a tray. "Here you go guys." A plate of California rolls skittered across her current table.

"Enjoy!" With a cute wink and service with a smile, she was off. Ici enjoyed being waitress at the place she knew best, GoGo. It was so different being big, so many things she could do now! However, all the time she waited for Kappa to walk through the door. Did he come on her days off? She could visit him, but she didn’t want to ask Caroline where he lived. Did Caroline know? Ici hated when Caroline asked too many questions, so she awaited his arrival. The GoGo shook her head, clearing her mind for the next round of tables.

Just a week earlier, Kappa came to the GoGo for the first time in months. The place brought back sad memories for him, so he avoided it as much as possible. But being a daddy had suddenly made him more sociable, and he wanted to show Sev off to his friends--all of whom seemed to live at the restaurant. It was good to be back, and it brought him to the GoGo again this day. He hoped he could see Kyata, maybe even Ses this time....

Sev's blue hand reached out to 'help' her daddy push the door open, and the pair walked into the GoGo, looking for a place to park. It was quite busy compared to the last time he was there, and instead of bothering anyone for a table, he went and sat at the bar, at a seat closest to the mansion. Unstrapping Sev from his chest, he sat her on his lap, waiting for her to start squirming. She didn't stay still for long...

From the corner of her eye, Ici saw that guy. That guy that popped up into her mind day and night. That guy she loved, Kappa. She felt her hands shake under the tray, and she gave the duty of serving to Itamae. "I-ii, got some business to attend to." Itamae glared at her, than saw Kappa and nodded.

During these times Itamae had been Ici's best friend, ici was too nervous to show herself off to the smaller Gogo's…but that day would come. Ici turned towards Kappa, starting to walk towards him with a great grin. Well, that was until she noticed the child buckled on his chest. "Omg.' She breathed in deeply, was he babysitting for a living? Ici chuckled under her hand. Terracotta eyes flickered, here was the moment.

"Sir-r, would you like a table?" She smiled with a nod, sauntering awkwardly over to Kappa at the bar. "It-t might be more comfortable for you and the child." Ici pointed to an empty table, menus tight against her chest. The time will come, she just needed to warm up.

Kappa saw the waitress approaching him, and though she looked familiar, he wasn't quite sure how he knew her.

"Well, a table might be better...I kinda wanted to sit by this dollhouse, if you don't mind. Seveile here seems to think that it's a toy to play with...But if not a table, a high chair would work great. Otherwise, she'd be crawling around this place like a madman!" He gave her a wink as Sev jabbed him in the cheek with a pudgy finger. "She's a bit odd, this one."
Elizabeth Marvel: He paused, and noticed that she didn't ask him what he wanted to drink or eat. "Um, can I get some tea too? That'd be really great."

"Oh, suu-re." Ici pasted a smirk upon her peachy face. "omg." The words kept flowing about in her mind, this was so weird. Kappa didn't know it was her. She toddled over to where the highchairs were nested and shuffled back, trying to not hit anyone in the head.

"Here you are." The anxious waitress said in a small voice, not lifting up her head. "Oh! My bad, tea coming up...."

Ici ran into the kitchen, taking some ice and placing it on the back of her neck. "Relax, she minded herself. Why is this so hard!" She stomped her foot and shook her head. "Few…." The ice slipped down her shirt. "Ahh!" Her whole body wiggled, trying to release the ice. Ici turned to a tea pot and two cups, holding them carefully on a tray. Her platforms scuffled against the floor, trying to move in a hurry.

The day wouldn't be an Ici day of course if Ici didn't at least trip…and that she did. Her feet were moving faster than her body, and she tumbled onto the ground. The tea pot landing in front of her at Kappa's feet. "Omg, Kapp-sir. I'm so sorry." She tried to lift herself up, but her body was shaking. Ici than pasted herself to the floor and bowed for forgiveness. Itamae rushed by her side and rubbed Ici on the back. "Ici, you ok?! Caroline told you not to handle the tea in platforms."

"I know…" A tiny muffled voice squeaked. "I wanted to look like a perfect waitress, I am just so nervous…" Ici remained on the floor, her face tucked into her arms.

Kappa noticed that the waitress was nervous, but he passed it off like first day jitters. As she returned with the high chair, he gave her a reassuring smile. He was an easy customer really, and he hoped that she could tell. "Thanks. It'll be good to get her off of my chest." He laughed, and pulled up the high chair, setting Sev down into it. She stared off into space like she usually did, occasionally pounding her fists on the table and gurgling like a baby does. Her dreadlocks waved around on their own, seemingly enjoying the restaurant as they explored the air around them.

He saw that the waitress had returned, and she shuffled quickly toward him, in shoes that should be banned from being worn by waitresses. They were much too tall after all. He wasn't terribly surprised to see her trip, but now with two open arms, he reached forward to try to catch her before she fell to the ground. Unfortunately, he was a bit late, and the teapot crashed at his feet.

Wait, what was that? Did she just call him Kap? "Are you okay?" he asked, kneeling down on the floor next to her, picking up pieces of the broken teapot. " Itamae was also consoling her, but Kappa stood and offered the girl his hand. "Here, let me help you up."

Ici remained on the floor until that familiar voice spoke up. She took his hand and hoisted herself up. "I'm ok, thanks." Her eyes welled up with tears as Ici wrapped her arms around kappa. "It's me Kappa." The words pushed through her lips and she brought her arms tighter around him. Only an army of 100 would be able to pull her off.

"Good, I'm glad you're--" He got cut off before he could finish his sentence as the girl wrapped her arms around him, squeezing him more tightly than a girl of her size should be able to squeeze. Then again, he was a skinny white boy..."You?" A flicker of recognition came over his visage as he looked down at the waitress' face. He had been weary of this meeting...He hadn't known what he'd say to her, and he hadn't practiced or even thought about this meeting. He'd tried to avoid her, but of course, coming here meant he'd see her eventually.

He gave her a hug back--a friendly hug. "Ichigo? Is that really you? Look at that, you got all big too!"

"Yeah, it's me. I think you're taller than me now. That's a nice change." Ici rested her face on his shoulder and didn't look up. This was odd, but she couldn't stop. She didn't know what he was feeling; they hadn't seen each other for so long. Ici sniffled, feeling an awkward silence coming on. "This is weird." She concluded, releasing her hands and baking away bit. Her fingers brushed gently against her cheeks, brushing away a few stranded tears. "Hi." A smile pursed along her lips.

"Yeah, maybe just a bit weird," he agreed, giving her a kiss on the top of the head. He wasn't ready to recommit quite yet. He'd changed a lot since he lived at the GoGo. Kappa was much less dependent that he was before. After all, he had his own responsibilities now. He was a father, and an adult.

"You look beautiful," he couldn't help but add as he stood there looking at her. "Even though I'm taller, I always have been," he said with a laugh. "Hi." He brought his own hand to her cheek and smiled. "It is good to see you. How's waitressing?" They'd have to do with small talk for awhile. At least until they got caught up again.

Sev babbled incoherently from her high chair, grabbing at something in midair that wasn't really there. She didn't notice the adults, and it looked as if she didn't really care to.

"Stop, you always know how to woo a girl. I'm sweaty and gross, I've been working all day." She sighed, touching her forehead with a tiny smirk. "It didn't seem like it." Ici rolled her eyes with a giggle. "It's good to see you to, it's good. Something to do, it was an easy job to get. What have you been doing? Babysitting I'm guessing. " Her eyes glanced over at the child, she had never seen a child like that before.

Kappa laughed and smiled at her. "Aw, you still look good, even if you are sweaty!" The words came out of his mouth before he could censor him. It felt good to be around her again. Maybe she'd done some growing up too...

"You were only taller because of those shoes," he said with a laugh. "I'll bet this was an easy job to get...they do love you here. I mean, you were one of the first of um, our kind." It was strange saying it like that. Now, he looked much like a human, but he knew that deep down, he was made of cucumbers, rice and seaweed. "Babysitting?" He chuckled. "Not exactly."

Lifting Sev from her chair, she shrieked in protest, but as soon as she was in her father's arms, she calmed again, her dreads poking him in the face as he attempted to introduce her to his first love. "This is Seveile. I like to call her Sev. She's mine...my um, kid." He wasn't sure how Ici would take this news--after all, they'd talked about having kids before. This one definitely wasn't one of their spawn.

Ici punched Kappa softly in the arm. "Bet you're quite the ladies man." Her eyes went wide; words just ran out of her mouth. "Oh?"

She gazed at the child, Kappa's words hitting her like bricks. Ici closed her eyes and stumbled backwards a bit. "Wow, I-ii need some air." Her hands were shaking again as Ici jolted towards the door, she always seemed to runaway from her problems. "Omg.omgomg." She leaned back on the wall of the restaurant, holding her arms across her chest. "omgomg." How could this happen, she always imagined kids, but their kids.
Ici's heart was racing as well as her mind. Than it hit her, kid meant wife or girlfriend and with that, Ici fluttered onto the ground. Her head rested upon her knees.

"Oh yeah, you know me...always popular with the ladies." Of course, he was joking. Kappa hadn't had a date with anyone, or had any interest in any girl since he'd become an adult. He was too busy with his job, his records and his daughter to do much else.

He saw that she looked a bit shaken by what he said, but she didn't give him time to explain the situation before she ran off looking rather upset. "Ichigo!" he called after her, feeling helpless as she ran toward the door. He couldn't just leave Sev here alone, even if she was content to stare at the wall and drool. Picking her up and carrying her on his hip, he walked to the front of the restaurant where Ichigo had fallen to the ground.

"Hey you, you okay? What's wrong?"

Ici lifted her head as she heard Kappa's voice. "This is not how I planned our future, everything is so screwed up." She leaned her head back and looked at the sky. "Maybe this is my fault. I always imagined us married, maybe with 2 or 1 kid. You working at the local club being a Dj and me just being a mom. But things are different…" She sighed with a nostalgic smile and glanced down at her feet. "Now you have this kid, but it's your kid, not mine." Her voice grew faint and quiet.

Kappa plopped down next to Ici, letting Sev rest in his lap. She looked at Ici and giggled, making grabby-hands for her as well. It seemed to be the first time she'd really taken notice of anyone besides Kappa. "Gah!" she squealed, gurgling once again.

Kappa grinned at Sev, but quickly turned his attention back to Ici, who was clearly upset. "Well, sometimes life doesn't always work out like you planned, you know? I wasn't expecting to get Sev...She just happened to land right next to me, and I couldn't say no. I mean, did Caroline say, 'No, I can't take care of her,' when she saw you for the first time? I'm sure she didn't. I have to take care of this little one like my mom did for me, and your mom did for you. It's only fair, I think."

"But hey, I am working as a DJ, so at least part of your fantasy came true," he said, lifting her chin with his fingers. "Don't worry. Things will be fine. You just have to learn to go with the flow Ichigo. After I grew up, you weren't really happy to see me, so I thought I'd stay away for awhile. It was what we both needed I think. I've thought a lot about things...my life, my job...us. Being grown-up isn't all it's cracked up to be."

Ici smirked at Sev, she stuck out her tongue. "Taking my man away from me, looks like I have some competition. " She joked, turning to Kappa. "You are right, like always." Her face grew warm as Kappa lifted her chin. "It's certainly not; I always had high ambitions as a young GoGo. Now, it's just not the same. I'm not living in this fantasy world anymore." Ici wiggled free from Kappa and kissed him on the cheek. "I gotta go back to work, being your waitress. Come on." She stood up, adjusting her skirt. (somethings never changed) Accepting Kappa's kid will be hard, but she still loved him. No matter how long they had been apart, some feelings never changed. Ici offered her hand to Kappa with a loving gaze.

The baby just squirmed at the attention, giving Ici a squeal before settling herself in Kappa's lap once again. "Yeah, she's quite the catch now, isn't she? She's an alien from a planet named Solanga. She's actually a criminal...And she was a he back on her home planet," he added, giving her the few details he knew about Seveile. "I believe he was convicted of child abuse, and he was sent to Gaia for reformation. Supposedly, they give the criminal a chance to start over."

After giving Ici the run-down on Sev, he felt a little bit better. Now that she knew what he was dealing with, hopefully Ici would be more understanding of the situation. "Well, we all had big dreams when we were younger...I'm sure the smaller GoGo's still have an idealistic view of life too. But when they grow up and have to leave the Mansion, we'll see how they feel about the real world then," he told her, smiling warmly.

"Alright, I guess I would like that tea," he laughed. "I guess maybe Sev wants some milk or something. She's pretty attached to soda, but I'm trying to keep her from drinking it all the time. I'm not quite sure how to be a dad yet," he added with a chuckle. Standing up, he looked to Ici again, glad she was being understanding. He hoped she really realized... But he saw the look in her eyes, and though it was semi-reluctant, he took ahold of her hand, resting Sev on his hip and holding her up with is other arm.

Ici nodded as Kappa spoke, quite confused with Sev's history. Criminal, given a second chance? As Kappa took her hand, she squeezed it once than let go. She shook her head and walked into the restaurant, holding the door for Kappa and child. "Take some classes maybe? I'm not sure about milk, but we have water or tea." Ici laughed, milk and sushi? Gross. "Go get a table, I might get in trouble for having kids at the bar." At that moment, she was tempted to give Kappa a little butt slap, but she resisted. Would things ever be the same?

"Thanks," he said, glad someone had opened the door for him. Sev wasn't the lightest baby he'd ever held. In fact, she seemed quite...lumpy. But regardless, she was cute, and Kappa didn't mind the extra weight. Maybe his arms would get more buff from holding her all the time. "Do they have classes on how to take care of kids? I really should look into that." He gave Ici a smile and walked to a table close to the Mansion. "I'm thinking water would be good...I'm not sure if I want her eating sushi...After all that happens here, I'm surprised anyone actually eats the sushi around here." He laughed and sat down, waiting for Ici's return. Hopefully they could talk more.

"I bet, also you could talk to Caroline." Ici nodded, wiping down the table. "No sushi? I getcha, but I have to serve it everyday and see everyone eat it. I don't mind because this sushi is missing the magic ingredient."

She toddled away, rubbing her scratched knees. In a few minutes time, Ici came back with a tray filled with a beautiful green pot and 3 cups; one being a plastic cup filled with pink. "I got something I think the little one will like." She placed teapot on the table, than the cups, and handed Sev the plastic cup. The GoGo took a seat across from Kappa. Her hands weren't shaking anymore, so she poured the tea into two cups. One for herself and one for Kappa.

"Hey, you wanna come up to my apartment later?" It sounded perverted, but she just needed to talk to Kappa … alone. "Itamae or someone could watch sev?" Ici fiddled with her thumbs.

"Yeah, she'd probably be a good resource. I don't really want to go see Mom quite yet. I think she's going to be pretty, um...shocked. I didn't think she'd expect to be a grandma so soon. She's been busy taking care of all the other kids, so yeah...I think I'll wait on taking a visit to Gambino for awhile." He paused. "Nah, no sushi today...Maybe next time." He watched as she walked away, admiring her...rear end...like he used to do when they were youths.

"What'cha think Sev?" He turned to his daughter, who simply stared at him, her dreadlocks again reaching for their guardian. "She's nice huh? Do you think she'd make a good mom?" The baby didn't answer of course, but waved at her dad, making funny noises again. "We'll have to see I guess..." A short time later, Ici returned with a teapot and cups. He saw that she brought Sev something special, and before he could help her drink it, the baby grabbed the cup with both hands and lifted it to her mouth. Kappa was amazed to see her coordination, but then again, he wasn't sure if she retained her memories of her past life or not. Obviously, she had remembered how to drink.

"Mmmmm!" was the sound that came from her mouth as she gulped down the pink liquid, a giant smile on her face.

"Looks like that was a success," Kappa said, taking a drink of his tea and turning back to Ichigo once again. "Come to your apartment? I suppose I could...I'm just worried about leaving Sev with anyone...With her past, I'm not sure what she'll do all alone. But, if Itamae feels confident in her babysitting skills, I'm sure we can work something out."

Ici leaned over the table and kissed Kappa softly on the lips before he took another sip. "When I give her 20 bucks she will." She responded, eyes locked on Kappa's with her face a nose away. A child couldn't be that dangerous, past smasht. Her eyes blinked, than Ici resided away from Kappa. How could she just not kiss him, he was right there…D: Freshly glossed lips smiled at Sev. "Everyone loves strawberry bubble tea, look! She's drinking me." Ici tried to make a joke of it; she knew the child would enjoy it. Most kids seemed to.

Sev hit a tapioca pearl, and once it came in her mouth, she didn't know what to do with it. She didn't have teeth after all. She gummed on it for a minute or two, and then realizing that not much was happening, she stuck her fingers into her mouth and pulled out the gummy tapioca, squishing it between two fingers. She was easily amused.

"She definitely seems to like it." He watched Sev squish the tapioca pearl and laughed at her curiosity. "Thank god there's no 'special ingredient' in that...Heck, it might be your own kid in that cup!" Kappa was a bit shocked when Ici kissed him. It had been so long since he'd been with her. Though he told himself he didn't miss her, deep down he did. "Well, I'd babysit for awhile for twenty dollars," he agreed, looking over to Itamae, who was waiting on tables still. "So, when are we gonna go? Itamae looks a bit busy."

"Oh no! she might choke" Ici squealed in terror, but was relieved when she saw Sev take out the tapioca pearl and play with it. "Few." She let out like a breath and leaned back. "I'm sure I could arrange something…" Feeling like a desperate housewife, Ici needed to be alone with Kappa, just to talk of course. Itamae shuffled around the tables wiping them down. "I would too." She let out a laugh and grinned. Maybe things were slowly going to be ok, in time of course. Ici couldn't help but stare at Kappa, look at all the things she missed.

"Lemme go talk with Itamae, I'm sure she can have someone cover for her. I'm almost as close as god here." Ici joked, ambling along with an excited twitch.

"omg itamae!" Ici clung onto her friend's shoulders.

Itamae did a double turn and sighed. "What do you want…"

"Ok, well things are going ok I think with Kappa and I. andnandnand, we want to go back to my apartment and talk anannnd. Could you watch his kid? I'll give you twenty bucks!" She dug into her pocket and pulled out two tens.

Itamae rolled her eyes. "Talk, BS. Have someone cover for me and sure, I'll watch the kid." She nodded, snatching the two 10s.

Ici went to person to person asking people to cover for Itamae, until she handed a Cherry (the new waitress) a 20 and begged. Of course she said ok.

Ici ran back to Kappa, Itamae at her side. "Ready to go!" Her eyes glimmered brightly, pushing Itamae into a seat and taking Kappa's hand.

"Well, that certainly was quick," Kappa replied after watching Ichigo run around the restaurant like a madman, searching for people to cover for her. All this trouble, just to go upstairs and talk? "You've got to bribe people to work for you huh?" He laughed and turned to Sev again. "Will you be good for daddy?" he asked in his baby-talk voice. Somehow he just slipped into it when he was talking to her sometimes. "Don't choke on one of those, okay?" he said, pointing to the black pearl. "Itamae will take good care of you while I'm gone. It'll just be a little while."

The baby just stared at him, and upon the arrival of Itamae, she turned to look at her with wide, dilated eyes. Fascinating, she thought, staring her down. This would be an interesting kid to babysit.

"Yeah, I think I'm ready," he replied, giving Seveile a pat on the head before he took Ici's hand and followed her. "Bye Sev darling!" He stuck his tongue out at her and waved, and she looked back to him and gurgled. Her arm lifted and she gave him a semblence of a wave as the GoGo's walked away.

"you know me" Ici winked. "Yea, that's the said thing, I'm not very persuasive." She shrugged with a giddy smile.

Itamae sat in the seat and glanced up at Ici blinking. "Don't get into trouble you two." Than she turned to the kid and smiled. "Hey honey, wanna color?" She pulled out a pad for taking orders and some crayons. Itamae was pretty good with kids.

"I think Sev will be fine." Ici whispered in Kappa's ear, tugging him along.

Sev gladly grabbed the crayons and looked at them for a moment before sticking the red one in her mouth. Wax sure was tasty!
Elizabeth Marvel: "Yeah, she'll be fine," Kappa replied, following closely behind Ichigo, taking a last glance at Sev, who seemed to be enjoying Itamae's company. "So, you live up here now? Do you see any of the old gang? Anyone still live at the mansion?"

Itamae smiled at Sev, creating her own doodle on the pad. The crayons were nontoxic, right? They weren't dangerous than, as long as the kid was happy. The newfound babysitter lifted up her picture and smiled. "Look a doggie." Itamae said in a baby voice.

Ici trudged up the steps in the back of the restaurant, the building was huge to begin with and no one would expect apartments up stairs. "Yup, I have my own apartment." Ici turned to Kappa with a wink, than turned towards the hall making a left. "Not really, they don't recognize me, I've been too nervous to reveal myself." She shrugged, holding Kappa's hand a bit tighter. I"I know this sounds awful, but I was so scared of you when you revealed yourself." Her eyes looked up at Kappa with a sort of sadness in them. "I don't want them to feel that way about me."

Ici pulled a key from her apron as she was getting close to the door. "Just lemme get it open, the door can be sticky sometimes." She turned the lock and inserted the key, banging into the door and eventually opening it. "Whatcha think?" Smiling brightly, Ici twirled in the center of her apartment. The apartment was a green color, with accents of white, pink and brown. Bean bag chairs and hanging bubble chairs lay in one corner, the floor adorned with a white shag carpet. A black framed fire place was in the center of the wall on the side with the chairs. The living room. The apartment had a bedroom, full-sized bathroom, kitchen, and an extra room. All in all it was a mighty big apartment, maybe it could be considered a loft?

Sev looked at the picture that Itamae had drawn and she giggled, not able to form any words to express how she was feeling. Her wide eyes stared at the drawing, and she took the crayon from her mouth and began to scribble on the paper, in an attempt to recreate the "doggie".

"They don't recognize you eh? I came by the other day and saw Tama and Sake. It was great to see both of them. I think they were a bit shocked that I grew." He paused. "I'm sure they'd be understanding. They were definitely more happy to see me than you were when I grew." He shrugged his shoulders. "That was the day I decided that I needed to get out on my own for awhile..."

He followed her into her apartment, seeing that it was Ici's decorating through and through. He wouldn't have picked beanbag chairs and bubble chairs straight out of the 70s--his apartment had modern sectional pieces and a big cushy chair that was his "Daddy Chair". But overall, it was a nice place. "I like it. It's very--you!" He said, giving the apartment a once over as she gave him the tour.

"Yea, I mean I'm here like everyday. I guess I'm just too nervous. I think it was a good thing." Ici smiled. "Heart breaking but good." She wandered around her home. "I seem to like it too." That she did, her apartment was her pride and joy, Caroline paid for most of the stuff as a 'growing up' present. "Oh! You have to see this!" Ici took Kappa's hand you dragged him into the bathroom. "Isn't it awesome!" Right before their eyes lay a pink toilet. "Since we're in here, I'm taking a shower. Feel free to watch tv or something." She nodded, wanting to freshen up and not smell like fish. "Goodbye." A laugh escaped her lips as she slowly began to close the door.

"Well, I think we're stronger for it, in general," he said. "Next time I come in, we'll go see them together." He gave her a smile and watched as she looked around her apartment. It was obviously one of the loves of her life, her apartment. She was proud of it, and Kappa was pleased to see that she too, was taking pride in her new, grown-up life. Somehow, they both seemed more mature.

He followed her like a puppy to the bathroom, where he was shocked to see the pink toilet. "Wow, who got that for you?!" He laughed and gave her teasing look as she told him she'd be taking a shower. "I'll be right out here, in case you need me," he added, winking at her as he went back to the living room. He plopped down in one of the beanbag chairs and grabbed the remote. What guy wouldn't watch TV when his ex?-girlfriend was in the shower....

"Caroline found it at a flea market and knew I would love it. Of course I do." Ici replied with a matter of fact look and smirked. "Yea, like I'll need you to wash my back or something." She rolled her eyes and closed the door.

Ici hoped into the shower, the warm water relieving her. She rubbed down her body with strawberry scented body wash, duh! With the addition of a fruity shampoo. Ici was the type to stay in the shower for a long time; she basked in the hot water almost just almost forgetting that Kappa was in her apartment. She certainly wasn't forgetting to shave, a new duty of being a grown-up *sigh*. The water squeaked off and Ici grabbed a pink towel, wrapping it around her hair. Than grabbing one for her body. "Looks like I didn't need you." Ici giggled, walking out of the bathroom, followed by steam from the shower.

Babysitting Blues

This is an ongoing RP that can be found here: http://www.gaiaonline.com/guilds/viewtopic.php?t=5317733

Seveile gurgled to herself, a tiny fist shoved into her mouth, drool dripping down her chin. Occasionally a little squeal would come from the girl, and her dreads would wiggle around, poking Kappa in the chin.

He was carrying her in a sling of sorts, but she was strapped to his chest instead of slung down around his side. He was wearing his headphones as usual, humming to himself softly. He kept them around his neck these days, and kept the volume up so that Sev could hear what he was playing too. He thought it was good to expose her to different music at a young age. There was even some classical music thrown in there for good measure.

Today, they were heading to the mall so that Kappa could buy Sev some new clothes. She'd completely trashed the ones he'd gotten for her, staining them enough so that the food never quite came out...She was a picky eater, oh yes...

Poor Kappa. Iamel was, once more, under child-watching. He had Kian on one hip and Yashi trailing after them rather silently. The fox child was in a grumpy mood today - best not toy with him too much. Kian, however, was in a decent sort of view, feet kicking out happily from his position on his brother.

His dreams had failed to exist the night before - he'd slept through the entire nine hours. On a whole, Kian was pleased. Even his tail kept flexing in a curious, smug manner, webbed fingers petting along Iamels tri-colored hair.

"Kiaaaaaan.." The bird whined, frowning over at the child, "Stop it! We're here to get you some more pants.. Rothe ripped your last ones open, remember?"

"Roffe bad." He grumped in return, bristling a little.

As Sev stared off into space, totally oblivous to where they were and why they were there, Kappa walked past a man with a baby and another child who had fox-like features. Another single father eh? Kappa could relate.

He gave the man a grin and a nod. "What's up? Looks like you've got quite the handful eh?"

Sev reached out toward the man and his boys, grasping into thin air as if she was trying to grab onto something. She squeaked and stuck a finger up her nose, not bothering to be socially appropriate.

Irlan was wondering why he was back at the Mall. Hadn't he had enough of this labyrinth-like building? Ah yes, that's right, it's all her fault. He thought as he glared at the red-headed woman walking beside him.

"I'll be in the department store, you have my cellphone if you need anything." Huni instructed as she set off with her little girl in tow.

Malas was sleeping in the straps attached to Irlan, her head bent forward as she snored in rare contentment.

It wasn't so much a man as a struggling, ten year old boy. He was struggling with his two little brothers - Yashi liked to wander and Kian liked to spit - and while he HAD grown...

"Nn. Catbitch is making me get them new clothes." The bird grunted slightly, quinting up at the other. "And Kian likes to chew on or spit on my hair. Despite being a formerly grown man on another planet who killed people, he's not a very bright baby."

"Anne too!" The crimminal growled, writhing in Iamels arms, "Anne too a bright!"

Realizing that the 'man' he'd seen was much younger than he looked from afar ((:Xp smile ), Kappa's eyes widened slightly. Wow, he's young to have so many kids... Kappa was a little slow on the uptake every now and then.

"Catbitch? That's some strong language you're using there," he said, giving Iamel a teasing finger waggle. Sev just copied his actions, waggling her finger along with him, as if she was trying to reinforce Kappa's point. "Just kidding. I'm messing with ya'."

He looked down at Sev, who was now covered in drool. "I need to get her some clothes too. She ruins them constantly." He sighed and looked past the boy to see yet another man approaching. It seemed he had a baby strapped to himself as well. It was like a single-dad's club at the mall today, he thought. Good thing he wasn't alone.

Iamel appeared much larger from further away, being crawled on by a child and speaking to his siblings like a parent would. Through the whole dilema, the little kid had grown...well, out of his body. He acted more like a teen then just a child.

"It's what I call my Shiniees...friend." He blinked, lips peeling into a further grin. This one wasn't snarling at him for his language. Not bad. "S'no problem. We don't mean it insultingly, although people usually see it like that." He shrugged, glancing to the side.

"Want me to show you where you can find some decent stuff? They have s**t for tails and extra limbs and stuff. S'where we get Kians jeans."

Irlan knew no one in Gaia aside from Sissi and Haze's household. Frankly, it didn't bother him that he had no group to just loiter around with, and though he was purposely ignoring some of the people's odd stare at the violet-skinned child he couldn't help but notice the pair surrounded by kids.

"I see someone got stuck with baby sitting duty." He snickered as he walked towards them.

Malas continued to snore, twitching every so often.

Kappa heard the man's babysitting crack as he walked up to the group. "Yeah, looks like we're all a bunch of kid sitters today," he sighed, his face looking a bit weary. Sev kept him up most nights...He usually napped on his lunchbreak at work, so he could get in a little extra sleep here and there. "Nice to meet you both."

"I'm Kappa," he introduced himself, extending a hand to the boy-man and the man-man. "And this is Seveile." The baby just stared, her gaze blank and a bit unnerving. He addressed the boy again. "Does your friend approve of their nickname?" he chuckled, giving the boy a nod. "And yeah, Anywhere that has clothes that allow for wings would be good...She doesn't like them all cramped up inside her shirt. I just cut holes usually. It works."

Good times at the Golden Arches

Holding Sev's pale blue hand as she toddled along on the sidewalk outside of the restaurant, Kappa observed her rather stubborn nature. Her feet didn't seem to walk straight for whatever reason, toes pointed inward. She'd trip up every now and then, but she didn't fall down, as she clung tightly to Kappa's hand--it was really him who kept her from falling down, as he pulled up on her arm when she started to trip. Her face was twisted into a concentrated look, brows furrowed as she struggled to master this walking nonsense. On Solanga, she could have just bounced around. It was much easier that way.

Sev was rather enjoying herself, despite the look on her face. She was glad to be mobile again, even if she could barely get around. She'd learn soon enough. The world still twisted and turned, but she was more aware of her surroundings now, and occasionally she'd get a reprieve from the tripped-out world around her as her image of the world cleared for a few minutes at a time. Today, they were walking toward a building that looked like much of its innards were made of plastic. There was an interesting smell coming from the building, and Sev sniffed the air, curious. Whatever it was, it smelled pretty good.

What in all the names of hell is that , Jera wondered from inside a McDonalds. While Gaia was home to a variety of strange things she'd never seen anythign like the little girl headed into the restuarant. Strange wings technicolour hair and antennae all smooshed onto a cute little pale blue childs body as if the maker of the platypus was at it again and on drugs this time. If this was who they were meeting (and jera had no doubt that fate would make it so) then she'd be hard pressed to wonder what that child had doneto deserve such a strange and inexplicable body.

Not that she'd ask because for some memories of the past weren't always pleasant and some probably wanted to forget and enjoy their new life. However, if in time the two became friends she might pry, after all the girl might be useful to her in the future might have contacts she could benefit from.

As Kappa pushed the door open for Sev, and as she toddled inside after him, he looked into the restaurant to see a woman, and a girl--well, a girl that looked as if she was half a horse--standing in line, waiting to order food. The pair managed to get into the line--slowly but surely, and Kappa couldn't help but pipe up as they waited to order.

"Hey, what's up?" he greeted them, giving them a warm Kappa smile. "You two look like you might be looking for someone...I think me and Sev here are supposed to be having a playdate or something. I don't usually come to McDonald's for these things, but I'm sure Sev will love this place."

The rainbow-haired girl just looked up at Jera in awe, her eyes as wide as saucers. A horse girl? She reached out with her hand, curious to pet the fuzzy body that was now so close to her. As she looked more closely, she saw the hair on the girl's body moving around on it's own, as if it had its own mind.

Nyx grinned at the man who'd called out to her and Jera " Yep that would be us, also not normal patrons of this place but hey where else do you take kids to meet where parents can also relax." After all, at least if worse came to worse they could shove the girls in the play area, the though of Jera half drowing in a pit of plastic balls made her laugh softly.

Jera congratulating herself on being right didn't bother to avoid Sev's hand, she'd become used to the fact that in her current body she was an oddity and that everyone and their mother felt the need to touch her. Sometimes she was annoyed by the loss of her right to personal space but there was nothing she could do to change that unless she started kicking again and at her age even a warning kick would do more damage then was worth the hell she'd get for doing so.

ladyumbra666: This place is doctor Suess' dream world" Jera commented eyeing the insanely bright reds and yellows that made of the palces theme colours. " Right down to the moldy purple chicken nugget" she said eyeing a picture of Grimace.

"True," Kappa agreed, nodding. The mother was already quite pleasant to talk to, so Kappa felt at ease almost instantly. "Though I'm not sure just how relaxing a McDonalds can be," he said with a chuckle, letting Sev's hand drop so that she could explore Jera's...fur.
Elizabeth Marvel: "I'm Kappa," he said, sticking his hand out for a handshake in typical Kappa fashion. "And this is Seveile. Or Sev, for short. She's a little odd sometimes, but I'm thinking she'll grow out of it one day."

He looked down to see that she was now petting Jera, happily running her stubby fingers through fine blue hair and giggling to herself. As soon as Jera commented on the colors of the room, it was as if a light flashed on in Sev's head, even if it was for a split second.

"Gwoss." The first word to come out of the little girl's mouth, and it was--gross? Seriously, odd. Sev turned to look at the rest of the decor, obviously put off by the coloration of the place. Her face frowned for a second, but as quickly as the realization had come, it went. Soon enough, she was happily playing with Jera's fur again, back in her own strange little world.

"What was that? Did she say gross?" Kappa laughed and looked over to his daughter. "Her first word, and it had to be that." He sighed and looked up at the menu. "It's been awhile since I've eaten here...A very long while."

Nyx slid her hand into Kappa's " I'm Nyx and this here is Jera." Nyz found herself happy to have another guardian who seemed friendly to talk too. Not that the others hadn't been but there was always that chance that someone who cared for criminal was themselves harsh, grouchy b*****d who was doing this for personal reasons. After all as far she knew Archie had done no background check on her before letting her adopt Jera.

Jera pawed at the linoleum floor with a rich purple hoof while she endured the petting. Someday when she returned home and saw a Tabula rasa ,after she hunted down and killed the one resposnible for this mess she was going to apoligise to them on behalf of every person who'd ever felt the need to stroke their hides. though she had to admit that it didn't feel horrid as long as Sev went with the hair and not against it.

She smiled at Sev. "Yep gross! Really, a purple chicken nugget? Who'd eat purple chicken? I wonder if there are purple chickens somewhere out there?" Apparently she was really becoming a child and letting herself have second life becuase there was no way Suriana would have had such and obscure thought.

Nyx just shook her head " First words can be random and gross isn't nearly as bad as a curse word " Nyx didn't remember Jera's first word since one day the girl had been silent and the next bam sentences, not wonderfull ones but sentences none the less. " i don't know about you But I beleive that a bacon double cheeseburger is in order for me, and and choclate milkshake, if i'm going to eat unhealthy I might as well go all out. "

"Nice to meet you and Jera," he replied, giving her a firm, but not too firm, handshake. "Sev arrived not too long ago, and we're still getting to know people. She hasn't really met any other...um, crim--I mean, ICRS kids." He stifled a giggle and nodded his head. "Yeah, at least she's not cursing up a storm. I try not to say too many bad words. I know how kids can pick up on that stuff."

His voice sounded slightly unsure. "I'm not used to being a dad yet. This is all pretty new to me. And Sev's not like normal kids--at least I don't think so. She barely sleeps, or eats for that matter..." The dark circles under his eyes were proof enough of the not sleeping. Sev slept, maybe three or four hours a night, and that's all. Kappa on the other hand, liked a full eight hours, and he'd been having some problems with that recently. He never wanted to leave Sev alone. You never knew what would happen...

As soon as she heard Jera talk to her, Sev's hand slipped off of her fur, and her wide eyes went to Jera's face so she could concentrate on what the girl was saying to her. She could understand her, but she didn't know how to form the words to reply. So instead, she smiled a goofy smile and eyed her some more, managing to get out a word or two here and there. "Chi-ken gwoss."

"Looks like I'll be getting her a hamburger Happy Meal," Kappa said with a laugh. "And I'm not sure what to get for myself...that bacon double cheeseburger does sound appealing..."

Nyx laughed " At that age kids run on nothing, they can be up forever, it's when they are babies that they sleep all the time. Now you're in for nonstop action and cries for attention. It is as they say, for the first bit we teach them to walk and talk then suddenly we're yelling at them to sit down and shut up." Nyx didn't recall ever having yelled at Jera though she'd been tempted to on numerous occasions.

Jera nodded at Seviles words " You learn fast kid, just listen to me and I'll tech you everything." Jera wondered what the hell it was with her that made her so fond of inncont little girls that put their trust in her. She supposed it was the trust thing, it had to be, she had no desire for little girls in any sense of the words.

Nyx nodded " since chicken appears to be out I'll get Jera the same, I wonder what the toy of the month is?"

Kappa frowned, thinking about what Nyx had said. "Well, I haven't gotten any sleep since Sev came here...even as a baby, she never slept. She just liked to stare at stuff. I still don't get it. Now that she's a bit older, she seems a little more...normal. But still, she's not like a regular kid. She can stare forever. I'm surprised to see her interacting so well with Jera," he said with a shrug. "She's been pretty anti-social with me, but maybe that's because she resents me?"

He wasn't sure, but it's the only thing he could think of. Most regular kids didn't act like Sev. At least not as babies.

"Well, I dread the day I have to yell at her. She's got such a sweet personality so far--I hope I never have to, but you never know. Kids are kids. My mom never really yelled at me," he said thoughtfully. "I guess I was a pretty easy kid to deal with. But then again, I wasn't normal either. I was--food." He chuckled and looked over at Sev, thinking about the day she'd be a whining, troublemaking teenager. It was a scary thought.

"Kaykay!" Sev exclaimed, her face lighting up as she listened to Jera. Jera's face was currently contorted just slightly, giving her an 'off' look, but she was glowing a lovely violet color that Sev quite liked. Perhaps Jera's 'aura' made her feel more comfortable. She wasn't quite sure what it was, but she liked the horsey-girl already. She put a hand on her own head and then pointed to Jera's hair. "Wope!" she exclaimed, trying to get her point across, but not really succeeding. As her jelly-dreads writhed around and moved in Jera's general direction, they seemed to wonder if her braids moved independently as well. They weren't quite long enough to reach Jera, but one day, oh yes, one day they would be long and agile dreadlocks--like none ever seen before.

Nyx nodded " Resentment could be a factor " She remembered her frist kick from Jera ." The staring thing sounds odd though, if she doesn't grow out of it soon I suggest seeing Archie and a doctor." She paused at Kappa's next words " Food you were food?" Even for Gaia that sounded odd.

Rope , her hair was rope? Jera just shook her head amused. First Eva thought she could ride her then Ein thought she was a unicorn now Sev thought her hair was rope, somehow Jera wondered if perhaps she was destined to to be misunderstood. Still she couldn't help but smile at Sev and her wriggly hair. She gently flicked her tail at the girls face enough to tickle her but not to sting badly.

He laughed. "I can imagine that it might have something to do with it," he mused. "Have you had Jera long?" Kappa wasn't sure how fast they grew, but Sev had become a toddler, up and walking, within a relatively short time. "Oh, and yeah, I was food. I was sushi actually. Kappa Maki-Marvel is my full name--cucumber sushi. If you eat sushi regularly, it might be kinda obvious with my name and all." He sidled up to the counter and ordered his food. A double bacon cheeseburger combo meal for himself, and a hamburger Happy Meal for Sev. He also specifically told the counter guy that he wanted a girl toy for the Happy Meal, if they had choices. He thought his little darling would rather have a doll than a toy car...but he couldn't be more wrong.

"No wope? Kay..." Sev seemed downhearted, and the dreadlocks retracted, coming back closer to her scalp, but still waving around in the air. She didn't stay pouty for long however, as she felt Jera's tail tickle her in the face. It took her by surprise and she jumped, immediately putting her hands to her face to rub the hair off as it tickled her nose. But it was gone sooner than she expected, and all she could do was bust into a squeal, and then, a titter of happy laughter. "Jawah funee!" she exclaimed, catching onto words faster than anyone would have expected.

"Jera I've had for quite a while. Yes, she shot up rather quickly for the first bit but she seems to have settled at this age for the moment." Nyx wondered if that was just the way things worked or if Jera's past childhood had been important to her and thus she was stuck there for the moment untillher current childhood was different.

She too orderd grabbing similar food and a boys toy for Jera. The centuar girl was far too rough in her play these days to give her anything easily distroyed or made dirty.

Jera grinned at Sev and there it was again that warm feeling that happiness that she'd never understood before. the laughter and smiles of carefree children were something Surisana had never really experienced as a child but Jera, Jera knew them and she reveled in her ability to make others happy. " Sev is funny too, her hair wiggles and dances all by itself." Sev's hair remoetely reminded Jera of the two snakes that resided in Ein's.

"Aaah, I see. Well, I'm sure she'll grow at her own pace. You never know what life on their planets was really like. Do you know much about Jera's home planet?" he asked as they waited for their food to come up, his stomach rumbling as he smelled the scent of cooking hamburgers. Glancing at Sev, just to make sure that things were going okay, he saw that she was having a rather good time with Jera, laughing and even talking more. It was good to see her do something other than stare. He'd never seen her this social before.

"Funee!" she exclaimed again. This Jera girl was fun! She liked her already, and she liked the tickley feelings she got when her tail brushed her face. "Wiggle waggle," she continued, pulling on a dreadlock that had gotten too close to her hand to avoid it. She squeezed it, and the tip still wiggled on it's own as it protruded through the other side of her fist. Her hair never stopped moving, it seemed like. Even when she slept, Sev was sure that her hair played all night. It was probably one of the reasons she never slept. She didn't want her hair playing without her.

Nyx shook her head " Not as of yet no, Jera and I haven't really discussed her past and unless she does something alarming I'll wait for her to bring it up herself." Jera seemed to be trying hard to start anew and she didn't want to mess things up by pestering her about her history. Still she hoped that someday Jera would trust her enough to explain it all.

Shifitng her weight to her hind legs Jera used her forehoofs to tap out a quick beat in an attempt to keep Sev amused. Sev's hair was enough to keep Jera amused, it's strange myriad of colours combine with wit's ability to move and squish like that was just strange and would require further investigation.

Kappa nodded. "Probably not best to delve into that right away," he agreed, picking up the tray of hot food that had just been placed in front of him. "I still wonder what Sev could have possibly done wrong. She's so innocent. It's hard to believe she was ever a criminal. He waited for Nyx to get her food, and then he motioned for the girls to follow them while they found a seat. As soon as they ate, they could go play more if they wanted to.

Sev listened to the beat of Jera's hooves, and began dancing around in her own Sev-way, bouncing from one foot to the other and then up and down, turning in circles and giggling. The room had taken on several new and exciting colors that clashed horribly with the red and yellow of the McDonalds. It seemed whatever had been taking hold of Sev earlier was now doing it again. Things were no longer clear, but she was having a good time nonetheless.

Good times at the Golden Arches, part 2

ladyumbra
Nyx grabbed her and Jera's food before followiing Kappa. once seated she grinned at the young man " I know how you feel, of course I often get that she's way too old to be innocent thing from her sometimes. Like when I take her to the movies and she catches all the adult jokes that fly by the little children."

Jera just laughed and shook her head " Let's eat now Sev and then we can play in the play area." Jera was amused by the fact that said play area was actually designed to suit many oddly shaped children. Probably due to the lack of regular humaniod shaped people on gaia compared to other species.

Sizzla
Kappa plopped the tray down on the table of a booth close to the window, where they could look out at the Playplace if the kids decided they wanted to go jump around in the ballpit. "Sev hasn't acted any older than her age--well, except for the fact that she picks up on words really quickly. I guess she isn't learning them again, just learning a new language...though I always found trying to learn a new language difficult."

"Yush! Eat foodie!" The toddler clapped her hands together and looked up to Jera with a wide smile. Food was appealing...but the box the food came in was even more appealing. Before she could say anything else, she felt hands wrap around her waist.

Kappa proceeded to pick Sev up and put her in the booth, not even realizing that she probably needed a booster seat. But instead of looking for one, he just put her in his lap and put the Happy Meal in front of her. "Ready for some Mickey D's?" he asked her, wondering if she'd like the artificial taste of it.

Meanwhile, Sev stared at the Happy Meal box, amused that the trees printed on it were swaying in the breeze, their artificial faces grinning at her. Soon enough, a red-haired clown would be temped to pop off of the box and greet Sev himself.

Sizzla
Sniffing the air, Sev finally noticed the scent of something that made her tummy grumble. After over half a day without food, she was finally hungry! "Foodie daddy!" It was slightly demanding, but far too cute to annoy the new dad. As soon as he unfolded the hamburger from the wrapping for her, she picked it up with both hands and took a bite that was probably bigger than she should have taken, ketchup squirting out of the corners of her mouth.

It was magical, that hamburger. Like nothing she'd ever tasted. It was wonderful!

"Yummy daddy!" she squealed, taking another bite quickly--before she was able to chew up the entire first bite. "I like!"

Kappa watched in amusement as Sev took a bite of her first hamburger, thinking that he probably shouldn't have brought her here. He didn't know she'd enjoy it so much--hopefully she didn't have an addictive personality...

((hahhahahahhahaha!! Addictive personaltiy! rofl ))

"Yeah, I'll bet she could speak anything if I actually exposed her to different languages. Kids are smart I tell ya." He shook his head with a laugh and thought about wiping Sev's face with a napkin--but he'd wait until she was done eating, he decided. "Maybe we should have picked some place with organic food and salad and stuff..."

ladyumbra
"This is much better than salad, salad is for grazer who can't handle meat, of course this probably isn't even all meat anyways." Jera grumbled with a sigh. Despite her looks Jera was no vegetarion, her stomach was that of an ominvore and she enjoyed the ability to eat meat.

Nyx sighed as well " As you can see sarcasm becomes Jera even at a a young age."

"I was older then you back then, older and wiser ." Jera retorted flicking her tail in agitation.

" Says the girl who got caught" Nyx pointed out before sipping her root beer

"I wanted to be.. look forget it" She growled geey eyes looking downwards as she returned her attention to her food.

Nyx just shook her head and smiled at Sev " If you think that's yummy just wait till dessert, a mcflurry would probably amuse your taste buds quite a bit."

Sizzla
Sev looked up at Nyx, her eyes wide and curious. "M-Fwurry?" she asked, wondering what she'd missed. Her mouth was half-full of chewed-up food that rolled around in her mouth when she attemped to speak. It was not exactly what you wanted to see while you were eating, but Kappa hadn't started to teach her about table manners yet--he still thought everything she did was adorable.

"So, um, not to be nosy...but what was your crime Jera?" Kappa asked with a smile, not wanting to prod her, but curious nonetheless. He knew very, very little about what Sev had done, but he figured he'd just ask her about it when she was a little older. "You don't have to say if you don't want. I'm just curious."

Kappa dipped a fry in the puddle of ketchup he'd pumped onto the paper of his tray and put it in his mouth, chewing slowly.

ladyumbra
Nyx hid a laugh at the sight of Sev trying to speak around her food." A Mcflurry is cold and sweet and cruchy and horribly bad for you but tastes great." Nyx supposed that for a child that was the best description she would give the food.

"Officially I was nailed with Espionage, treason and adultery , there's more but hey why reflect on the past when I can enjoy the present" Jera's tone was calm and cool. It said I'll awnser questing but don't try to dig too deep. " Somehow I have a feeling Gaia would be a far harder target than home though, from what I can tell there's no organised goverment of any sort." At this the girl laughed

Nyx sighed at that.

Sizzla
"Dang, well, you were quite a criminal, weren't you? It's funny how non-threatening all of these ICRS kids are now. I would never imagine that any of them would actually have been criminals!" Kappa laughed and gave Sev a pat on her squishy head. "With a face like this...who could think that she was once a criminal?" He paused and took a bite of his burger, then chewed and swallowed before asking Jera another question--in a joking tone, of course. "A harder target eh? Got big plans up your sleeve?" he asked with a wink and a grin.

Sev grinned at the description of the McFlurry, her eyes drifting to the sign that advertised them, mere feet away from where they were sitting. "Yummmeeee! Want Kappa daddy!" She pointed to the sign and then giggled again as she poked her father in the arm. She knew he liked being called 'daddy'. It didn't happen often.

ladyumbra
Jera shook her head smiling she liked this young man he was amusing. " More like you can't teach an old dog new tricks, I'm set in my ways though that's partially Thier fau

" As for Sev looking innocent, well that's the same as any child really if it's cute and sweet you don't mind the hell they cause you." A far away look popped into her eyes briefly " Or so my mother said when I was very young, my natural mother not Nyx" she clairified.

Nyx grinned at Sev " Another one converted to the love of mcflurries I am sucessfull." As she heared Jera talk Nyx wondered exactly how differently she was raising the girl and she worried if maybe she wasn't doing it quite right.

Sizzla
"I suppose you're right. There's only so much you can change about yourself--even if you are put into a new body. I still wonder what Sev was like back on her home planet. Nowadays, she's pretty kid-like. But I think there's something strange about her...I'm just not sure what it is yet," he said, giving Jera a nod. "Nah, I don't mind the hell...and well, Sev's not really a hellraiser--she just never sleeps. That's my biggest problem," he said, pointing to the dark circles under his eyes.

Sev poked Kappa in the side. "Need M-Fwurry daddee!" she screeched loudly, being more demanding than she'd been since she'd arrived.

"Fine, fine, Miss Demanding!" He promptly poked her back and then got up to order her some ice cream--with M&M's mixed in. She'd like the rainbow colors, he thought. He took the confection back to the table and set it down in front of Sev, who immediately man-handled the spoon and shoved it into her mouth, making 'mmm' noises as she crunched the M&M pieces and slurped up the ice cream. "Nyxie wight. M-Fwurry yummeeee!" she exclaimed, following up with another huge mouthful of ice cream.

ladyumbra
Nyx laughed at the sight " You Sev are far too cute for your own good, Just remember to eat slow or you'll get a brain freeze," she warned. Nothing spoilt ice cream like your head suddenly throbbing with pain.

Jera said nothing but smiled in amusement at the butterfly winged girl's antics. She thought the Mcflurry looked tasty but had come to determine that dairy and this bodie's stomach weren't fond of each other.

Sizzla
"Tank ewe," Sev said in her most appropriate grown-up voice. "I do my best!" Shoving another spoonful of McFlurry into her mouth, she chewed on it a bit and let the rest melt and then slide down her throat. "I don' wanna bwain fweeze!"

Kappa watched in amusement as Sev downed the rest of her ice cream and then he proceeded to wipe her face with a napkin, much to her annoyance. She rolled her eyes at him, and all he could do was pinch her cheeks--just for the fun of it. "You are too cute, you know that?"

She just grinned from ear to ear.

"Well, is everyone full? I know I am...That was one too many cheeseburgers for me..."

ladyumbra
Nyx laughed then nodded to kappa " Yeah Jera and I are full, plus you know if I don't get home soon things one and thing two will probably destroy the house." She smiled at her unique naming scheme for the household pets as she reached across the table " It's been a pleasure meeting you and sev though I'd love to do it again sometime."

Jera grinned at Sev " We have to meet again and discuss more on moldy chicken nuggets and maybe next time we'll actually get to play." Hopefully this would happen when the girl was older and then they could better truly talk and discuss things. Still it hadn't been a bad play date.

Sizzla
"Pway sounds wike fun Jewah. We do dat nex time." She nodded furiously and smiled at the centaur girl, a bit of missed chocolate still smeared at the corner of her mouth. "I wiked meeting ewe." She giggled and waved at Jera to say goodbye.

Shaking Nyx's hand, Kappa grinned. "Thing One and Two eh? Clever." He chuckled--Gaians were odd people in general. He himself was definitely not normal. "Yes, we'll definitely have to do this again. Sev really seems to like Jera. We'll be around!"

With that, he stood up and helped Sev up as well, heading toward the trashcan with this wrappers and tray.

Ice cream, candy, and all the good stuff!

((stolen from Huni. whee Thanks!))

Walking hand-in-hand, as they usually did nowadays, Kappa was heading home from his mom's house in Gambino after just finishing up a Sunday dinner. Sizzla was nice enough to cook for him once a week, and the pair always came over early in the day so that Siz could have time to play with her new grandbaby.

Sev was amusing to her, and though she knew Sev was really a male criminal in a very cute girl body, she couldn't help but treat her like a toddler. She acted like one, so it was warranted. Unfortunately, she always came away from the beachhouse looking rather...girly. Today was no exception. Siz had tied her dreads carefully with a ribbon, taking care that none of the jello was damaged. She wasn't sure what would happen if she accidentally poked a hole in one, or scratched it. Could Sev feel her hair? It was something she constantly wondered about as she dressed the little criminal up like a doll.

Today, the poor thing also had a hint of lip gloss on, as well as some blush. Sizzla had thought that it would give her some 'color', though the pink smudges on her cheeks clashed horribly with her blue skin. All Kappa could do was laugh. When they got home, they'd have to wash it off.

As they walked, they passed by several shops, all closed on Sunday evenings, as usual. Just up ahead though, Kappa could see lights coming through plate glass windows, illuminating the sidewalk in front of the shop. As the pair neared it, Sev walked awkwardly a little faster, interested to see what was ahead. In her eyes, the lights were flashing in bright, obnoxious colors--Sev's favorites.

"Want some ice cream kid?" he asked her, looking down to see her staring intently at the shop and trying to move faster. "Looks like it. Let's go in."

Malas was furious, though you wouldn't be able to tell outright. Her eyes seem glazed over, her mouth a thin line, the only indication of her foul mood were her hands. Clenched in a vice-like grip around blue fur.

Irlan was grinning from ear to ear like a the cat who got away with eating the canary. Well, he was grinning as much as a muzzle would allow him. He had shifted into a cerulean-hued panther and was sauntering down the streets. How he loved the stares and the gasps and the frightened scurries of feet.

This was the deal, after all. He would bring 'Las to the ice cream parlor but on his terms. Malas, despite living with the man, wasn't able to forsee this turn of events. She hated the looks, and the attention Irlan got. In retalation she dug her nails between his shoulder blades and kicked at his flank with her legs.

Irlan didn't even flinch, he merely glanced back and answered with a low rumble from his throat.

"Hate you." Malas glowered.

Eventually they arrived at the shop and who should they see but Kappa and Sev! Irlan recalled the young man from the mall, but he could pretend he didn't. And he doubted Kappa would recognize him in this form.

Sev practically smacked into the glass door, overly excited to go inside. The place was bright and shiny, and somewhere she'd definitely like. She could tell already.

Before Kappa could push the door open for the toddler, he heard a noise behind him--the sound of a kid. And something else.

Turning around, he saw a panther standing there, with a somewhat familiar child on his back. He was a bit unnerved, as he wasn't sure that panthers were so great around children. But what kind of large cat comes equipped with a purple-skinned, green-haired toddler?

"Do we know each other?" he asked, looking down at them. "Miss Angry Face here looks familiar somehow..." He chuckled and looked back to Sev, who hadn't noticed the pair arrive. She was too busy looking inside the shop, her blue nose pressed flat to the glass and her eyes wide and glazed over.

Irlan purred low at Kappa before he strut past him and the winged criminal. With one paw he pushed the door open and entered, tail swishing back and forth.

Malas had been asleep during their encounter so she didn't really remember Sev or Kappa very much. But Sev's skintone reminded 'Las of how her skin used to be, and with this twinge of nostalgia she glanced back as she and Irlan entered the ice cream parlor.

Of course the people inside gave a shriek at the sight of a wild animal. But none of them could run out as Irlan was blocking the only exit. With a feral grin, he shifted his form to reveal his true shape.

"The only way to travel." He chuckles as he lowers Malas down to the floor.

Quite impressive.

Such was Irlan's 'entrance', and Kappa couldn't help but be a tad bit jealous.

"Dude, wow. No kidding! That was quite a change..." He recognized the man almost immediately now. They hadn't had too much time to chat in their last meeting, but he knew that the little girl with him was a criminal like Sev. "It's probably a lot easier to run when you're a panther. Good to see you again man," he said, extending his hand like most guys did when they met up with each other.

Kappa followed the panther-human-thing into the ice cream shop, making sure to grab Sev's hand and lead her away from the glass door. She quickly moved along behind him, practically skipping into the bright and shiny store.

As soon as Irlan put Malas down, Sev toddled over to her, ignoring the ice cream for now. She was more interested in the brightly colored little girl. Sev was envious of her pretty hair and skin colors! They practically screamed in neon through Sev's tripping eyes. Fan-tastic!

She would have said it if she could have remembered the word.

"Pwetty," Sev managed to get out, really thinking about her words as her brow semi-furrowed. She still wasn't very good at talking, but she did know quite a good assortment of words. "Colo pwetty!" She pointed at Malas' purple skin, and then, to her bright green hair, her eyes wide and joyful again as she remembered the words she wanted.

Irlan merely gave Kappa's hand a once over, an amused smirk on his face. "Yeah? Well, it comes with the territory of not being born a Gaian. And running isn't needed when looking after the brat. You leave her in one spot, come back an hour later she's still there." He leaned in closer to the young man to whisper his next words, "It's kinda freaky actually. Is your kid like that?"

Malas blinked in both confusion and suspicion at Sev. Was the other little girl serious or was she making fun of her? "Okay." she nodded, quite unsure of what else to say. Even if she were in her old form she wouldn't have said anything else.

Instead, she poked at Sev's hair, releasing a gasp of fascination at the jiggling, multi-colored substance. "What?" she asked her, momentarily forgetting why she allowed Irlan to humiliate her in the first place.

Awkwardly pulling his hand down--most people he knew shook hands, but he guessed that it wasn't normal for this guy--Kappa smirked back at him. "You're not a Gaian eh? Where did you come from?," he paused before continuing. "Sevelie and the other criminals are pretty much the only people I know from other planets. And well, I guess that is true. She doesn't move around much...but she's an odd kid nonetheless--she stares at things for hours on end, and she hardly sleeps or eats. I dunno...Odd."

Should Kappa have been concerned for her welfare? Even though she didn't eat or sleep much, she seemed to be growing, so he couldn't be doing too much wrong. If she started looking sickly, Kappa figured he'd just take her to the doctor.

Sev thought that her compliments would impress the other little girl--the one with such pretty skin and hair. But somehow, things didn't come across like she wanted them too. It frustrated her, so she decided she should clear the air. "Sev wikes you pwetty hairs anne skin." She nodded, pointing again to Malas' distinctive features and grinning widely at her. And then, after she giggled at the poking of one of her dreadlocks, she tried to explain her strange hair appendages.

"Deez my dweadwocks," she said, grabbing one of the stray jellylocks with an empty hand and squeezing it so it bulged. "Dey's squisheees." She nodded and looked to her hand, where the end of the dread poked out and squirmed around. Another dread that she wasn't watching had snaked out away from her head and was quickly approaching one of Malas' pigtails, hoping to find something exciting to play with.

It was not to say that Silarians did not shake hands or exchange greetings to show camaraderie with one another. Irlan knew what the gestures meant, he understood the reason why people were polite and civil with one another. He just didn't really care what other people thought. Every man for himself had been his motto.

So why was he now taking care of another person? An adult stuck in a runt's body at that! The Silarian didn't really know why. Maybe he was just subconsciously trying to impress Haze?

"Silar, you probably never heard of it, but I wouldn't be surprised if Haze hasn't blabbed about it to everyone she's met. Women can never keep secrets." He shrugged with a sneer. "You bring your kid here or was it the other way around?"

A bewildered expression made itself home on Malas' face as Sev expressed her thoughts about her appearance. The other criminal could only respond with one word: "Why?" she blinked in disbelief.

Focusing her attention on the 'dweadwocks' that wiggled in Sev's hands, she let out an uncharacteristically audible shriek (which sounded more like a squeak) upon feeling her pigtails being poked. Her ears twitched in discomfort as she instinctively pushed the stray dweadlock away. "Is a-laiv?" she squeaked in confusion.

Irlan only glanced back at the noise, "You haven't eaten anything yet, don't tell me you already have a tootache." he chuckled, not a trace of concern evident in his voice.

Kappa chuckled at Irlan's comment about women. It was just so true...Ichigo was pretty good at blabbing, he thought, an amused look crossing his face.

"Nah, never heard of it, you're right. And I don't think I've ever met this Haze woman, but I would have to agree with you. Women can't keep secrets." Kappa looked over to Sev, who seemed to be getting along well enough with the pig-tailed toddler. "I brought her--it was on the way home, and she's never had ice cream before...Seemed like a good idea. You?"

Why? Gee, Sev really never thought about why she liked things...She just did. And Malas' bright colors were definitely something she liked. She didn't get to see many brightly colored people...Kappa was no longer mostly green, so he was no fun...And most normal things were boring. "Aye 'unno. 'Cause colors are pwetty." She nodded a couple of times in rapid succession to end the chat of that. Sev didn't want to have to think about why she liked things. She supposed she could have told Malas that she was fun-looking, but she had yet to feel her out. She didn't look so fun, personality-wise...But then again, she didn't see the world quite like Sev did.

Sev giggled as the little girl squeaked. She looked alarmed as she watched the dreadlock jiggle and writhe, and Sev thought it was funny. She'd lighten this one up...at least she hoped so. "Weeellll," she began, standing up straighter as to look more authoritative--this was Ogalax shining through of course, not wanting to miss a chance at educating another person. "Dey's awive when I's awive..." She nodded sagely. She was fairly certain that the dreads wouldn't move when she ceased to be. Fairly certain. "Dey's part of me."

She wondered what the other girl would ask her next...

It was then that she noticed just how white and bright the the place was, and just how bright Malas looked in the daylight flourescence. She practica--no, she definitely glowed against the white background, and Sev was amazed, her pupils going a tad bit wider, if that was possible.

Irlan arched a brow at Kappa before smirking "It's about the only thing the brat will admit she likes. Sweets and more sweets." He made a face, "I can't stand sweets and it has nothing to do with how they make you fat."

Malas frowned, evidently unsatisfied with Sev's explanation of why she liked her. Knot remembered clearly that she had to earn someone's approval, that she had to work hard to merit praise. It made her wholly uncomfortable to know that someone was capable of showing her affection even without her doing anything.

To the former K'luwan, Sev was downright weird.

The jiggly strands, however, were positively scary and yet looked absolutely delicious. She wondered if they tasted like the gummy bears Aunt Huni had given her, or if they were more tangy like those small, round candies. But when Sev said they were alive, 'Las couldn't help but frown.

Not only did the other girl have wings and lovely blue skin, she had sentient body parts. And this gave Sev the complete advantage in 'Las's point of view. Reverting to a more submissive state of mind, her features softened.

"Sev like ice cream?" she asked, pointing to a booth.

Kappa couldn't help but laugh. "I hope that's not all she eats," he said sympathetically, shaking his head as he gave Malas another look-over. The kid didn't look anywhere near fat.

"I think I might have done a bad thing taking Sev to McDonald's last week. I hope she doesn't become too attached. I saw that movie, Supersize Me. McDonald's is not a good place to eat. I can't help it that it tastes so darn good though!" He chuckled again and moved toward the ice cream freezers, glancing at the available flavors before looking over to Sev, who seemed to have forgotten all about why they were there.

It must be nice to be a toddler.

Sev hadn't noticed Malas' irritation, and if she had, she'd certainly wonder why the girl was so odd. Wasn't it enough to just like someone for their pretty colors? Sev thought so. And even if she didn't end up liking Malas for her personality, she could always admire her loveliness.

Now, when the other toddler frowned as Sev talked about her dreads, she could tell the girl wasn't amused. What was so wrong with her hair? she wondered, almost feeling a tiny bit sad despite the joyous surroundings and pleasant company. Her wings flapped once slowly, as if making sure they weren't stuck in one position.

"Ice cweam?" she asked, her enormous pupils following Malas' finger as she pointed to the booth. "Is eet wike M-Fwurry?"

Seveile had discovered the joy of the McFlurry only days before, when she and Kappa had met up with Nyx and Jera at McDonalds. She relished in the flavor of it, the sweetness almost overwhelming on her young tongue. Needless to say, Sev liked sugar. She spent the next few hours at home, pacing around Kappa's apartment, pointing out things she saw in baby-talk.

"Oh the kid'll eat anything you give her." he shrugs, "So what I do is I bring her over to Haze's place and let them feed the both of us. They got food to spare."

Malas blinked, her face showing her usual blank expression. "What's M-Fwurry?" she asked, "Ice cream cold, sweet, sticky and wet." she added, maybe they were talking about the same thing only it was called something else. She doubted she'd be right though, recalling how the number of times she was correct were few and far in between.

"Never been to McDonald's, never saw that movie. We just go to the supermarket when we need stuff and I get the brat lots of clothes. Huni loves dressing her up, but I get to pick the styles. It's fun to watch Huni squirm in discomfort at my choices. She really should just tell me they're ********> he laughed, "Come on, let's grab a seat before the people here eat so much of this junk they'll each need a booth just to fit."

"Good call there. I take Sev to my mom's and she'll feed us too. I try not to make it a habit, but you know...sometimes I just can't help it. I'm not exactly rolling in the dough these days." He chuckled and ordered ice cream cones from the counter guy for both him and Sev. Bubblegum for her--he knew she'd think it was interesting or fantastic, either/or--and german chocolate for himself. Kappa loved chocolate as much as Sev loved sugar in general.

Sev nodded. It sounded like the same thing...
"M-Fwurry yum! Sounds wike ice cweam!" She clapped her hands together as she saw Kappa approaching with a cone filled with bubble-gum pink ice cream, fuschia pieces of gum stuck here and there. "Dis ice cweam?" she asked Malas, sinking her tiny teeth into the ice cream right away and happily chewing it up until all that was left was the gum. She kept it wadded in her cheek so that she could finish the rest of the tasty treat before chomping on the gum for hours on end.

Meanwhile, Kappa led Sev to a booth by the hand, plopping her down into the seat before he sat himself down.

Irlan shrugged, he never worried about money matters. Be it in Silar or Gaia, the cerulean haired man knew how to get by. That and he's usually a cheap b*****d and has only been spending for Malas to impress Haze with his 'generosity' as the red-head would never accept anything from him.

"Your mom's still alive?" Irlan quirked a brow, not so much in mockery but in genuine surprise. He ordered plain vanilla for himself, and asked for the sweetest, most fattening, most decadent flavor for 'Las. He had experienced that the ultimate in sweetness made her more interesting, far more interesting than regular flavors.

Malas turned towards the approaching adults and her eyes seemed to shine in starry-eyed delight. "Yes." she whispered in what seemed to be awe at the confection Irlan held out to her.

Holding a sprinkle-covered scoop of triple-chocolate-boom, he grinned at 'Las knowingly. "You can have it, if you say the magic words."

Malas glared at Irlan, she hated asking for anything, even if it was for the most scumptious-looking thing she had ever seen. Well, two can play at this game! She had heard her Aunt Huni and Irlan say things she shouldn't say and opted to reveal this now.

"Fak yu."

"Yeah, she's still alive. She lives on the beach in Gambino." He paused and saw that Irlan looked really surprised. "I mean, not on the beach itself, but her house is on the beachfront," he corrected himself, hoping to not get a rude reply about gramatically correct sentences and whanot. "She's pretty cool really. And now that I'm an adult, she's not that much older than me. But then again, I grew really fast," he said, taking a bite of his ice cream.

While Sev was thoroughly enjoying her ice cream, she looked over to see if Malas liked hers as well. But instead of seeing the little girl licking an ice cream cone, all she saw was the girl's dad teasing her with it. "Give ice cweam to 'Las!" she demanded, shaking her own cone at Irlan. She could see the irritation on Malas' face, and she wanted the other girl to be as happy as she was. "Fook yu!" she repeated after Malas, not really knowing what it meant. It just sounded fun to say.

"Sev! We don't say that kind of thing! That's not very nice," Kappa said, waggling his finger in her face as if to punish her somehow. "Say you're sorry to Irlan."

Sev just shook her head. "No wanna polo-gize dadee! Irla need give ice cweam to 'Las." She shook her head. She wasn't budging from this one.

Irlan wasn't all that surprised by Malas' words, he wasn't really all that concerned whether or not he was being a bad influence on the kid. She was after all supposedly a criminal from another planet, she probably knew tons more curses than he did.

It was more of the fact that Sev was taking Malas' side that amused Irlan. "Oh no, I can't give her the ice cream. She said a naughty word, and she should be punished for it." he grinned at the winged toddler in what can only be described as malice.

Malas blinked at Sev, did someone just stick up for her? Someone who just met her at that? And now it looked like she wasn't going to get her ice cream because of it. Grahd-damn it. Her fists clenched but 'Las forced herself not to react. Knowing that everything Irlan did was done in order to get a response from her.

"If 'Las says sorry for teaching someone a bad word, I'll give her the ice cream." Irlan suggested. He actually liked hearing 'Las speak, unless she was screaming in which case he wished she'd shut up.

That was it? That's all she had to do? No problem, 'Las was accustomed to apologizing. "I sorry. Now gimme." she warned, giving Irlan a rare glare.

The cerulean-haired man chuckled and handed the cone to 'Las. "There, that wasn't so hard, was it?" he laughed, scooping the toddler into his free arm. He carried her to the booth and sat her down near Sev. "On the beach eh? I prefer woodlands or jungles. But to each his own, yeah? And do kids from Gaia really grow really fast? Or does it happen to everyone who comes here?"

Malas was enjoying the ice cream, an almost blissful smile was plastered on her face along with smudges of ice cream. She turned to Sev and gave the little girl an equally rare smile, "Sanks." she mumbled in between licks.

Who are the people in your neighborhood?
Seveile's First Halloween

Kappa held Sev's hand as she shuffled forward in her furry suit, pillowcase tightly gripped in the other hand. "Ready Sev?" he asked as they walked up to the first house on the block. Kappa didn't know much about the neighborhood, but it looked suburban enough. Surely there would be people giving out candy.

"Yep daddee, weady!" She grinned and toddled up to the front door as Kappa let go of her hand. She rang the doorbell and got ready to roar at whoever answered the door, hands up in preparation to "claw" at her 'victim'.

As soon as the door opened, she twitched her nose and opened her mouth wide, a loud half-growl, half-squeak coming out as she 'clawed' the air. "Twick O' Tweat!" she exclaimed, immediately after trying to scare the victim.

Wanda looked straight ahead as she opened the door, almost missing Sev's mighty roar. The woman's costume was rather bulky, after all. For a moment all she saw was red fur, but then she looked down and witnessed the tail end of the toddler's greeting.

"Trick or treat is right!" she said, stepping back in mock fright. "Boy, have I got something for you! You too!" she said to Kappa. Wanda turned from the door, leaving the pair alone for a moment while she went to get her holiday goodies.

Wanda came back in a matter of seconds, holding a pumpkin full of candy and a small, glinting plastic thing in her gloved hands.

"Here you go!" she said to Seveile, handing her the plastic thing. It was a small, strange pumpkin toy, probably obtained from some old box of Cap'n Crunch. A weird gift from a weird person.

"And for the both of you!" she said merrily, holding out a single piece of candy.

"I think you should head over to Bunny's next. She played Dorothy in a recent Durem Community Theater production of The Wizard of Oz and she would just LOVE your costume!" Wanda bent over and poked Sev in the nose before stepping back into her house and slamming the door. Definitely a strange block.

Sev held her pillowcase open expectantly, her large eyes eyeing the treats that the woman in the funny sheet was about to slide into the cloth sack. She liked the look of the funny pumpkin toy and she giggled a bit as the woman dropped it into her bag. That would be fun to play with when she got home.

But now, they needed more candy! Sev was almost addicted to sugar at this juncture, and Halloween further showed her that everyone loved candy and loved giving out candy. It was a perfect holiday for the kid.

Kappa graciously took the candy from the ghosty woman, and nudged Sev in the back slightly. "What do you say to the nice lady?" he asked, encouraging her to be polite.

"Tank ewe!" She shouted, just seconds before she got a poke in the nose and a door slammed in her face. Well, if these people weren't going to be polite to her, why did she have to say thank you?! "Daddeee, where we go nex?" she asked, ready to get on with it. "More candee dadeee!"

"Alright, let's go," he said, leading her away from the house and toward the one next door. "I'll bet the next lady will love your costume," he said, giving her a wink.

blaugh

The next house looked about as appealing as the first as Sev walked up the front stairs, wondering what kind of crazy person would pop out and give her candy next. Holding her pillowcase in one hand, she stepped forward and looked for a doorbell. To her dismay, there was none. She'd be forced to knock on the door!

"Go on, give it a good knock," Kappa said, encouraging her. "It's a door--it won't bite."

Sev couldn't help but have a hallucination right then and there. As she reached up to knock on the door, a carved face appeared and began to talk to her. She couldn't understand what it was saying, but it was friendly, even if a bit scary. It looked much like a gargoyle--with wings, and fangs. But it had a large grin on it's face and Sev giggled at it as she banged her small fist on the door. The door-thing certainly was welcoming.

As soon as the door opened, she got into the spirit once again. "Twick o Tweet!!!"

Bunny was prepared this time. Instead of dancing around her living room like she wanted to, she was sitting backwards on her sofa, peeping through the curtains, waiting for more kids to knock on the door. When she saw Seveile and Kappa approaching, she leaped up, swinging open the door with a huge, scary grin.

"Happy Halloween!" she enthused. The bony ballerina girl reached into her plastic pumpkin and frowned when her hand didn't touch any candy. "Wait here," she stage whispered.

Bunny skipped back over to the door, candy in hand. "Here you are!" she said, dropping one into Seveile's pillowcase.

"Have a great Halloween! If I were you, I'd go over to George's now. He makes the best cookies on the block!"

Bunny smiled again and waved as the two went on their way.

Sev graciously accepted the candy from the skinny ballerina-woman and gave her a wide grin. "Tank ewe!" she exclaimed, giving her a wave and a pseudo-growl--for effect.

Kappa took Sev's hand and gave the woman a grin and a nod. "Happy Halloween!" he said, tugging Sev along behind him as they headed toward the next house on the block. That woman wasn't as odd as the first one, he thought with a chuckle. "Ready for the next house Sev?"

"Yep yep!" she exclaimed, holding tight to her pillowcase as she ran ahead of Kappa, now pulling him behind her, her flimsy wings flapping behind her. She wanted MORE candy. Two pieces would not be enough to satisfy her sweet tooth!

The next door looked about the same as the others, but this one had a doorbell, and Seveile quickly pounded a chubby ice-blue pointer finger into the illuminated button. "Twick o' Tweet!" she would exclaim as the door opened in front of her once again.

Ho Ho Holidays!

((reserved))

Synopsis:

• Thanksgiving is a riot. Sev throws more food at 'moving' things than she does putting it in her mouth. She's never heard of this holiday, and has no reason to take it seriously. Same goes for Christmas, though you get presents on Christmas, so you've gotta be good.

• Decorating for Christmas--the meager tree and a few lights here and there.

• Christmas Eve at Grandma Sizzla's house--all the kids are invited, so it's quite a celebration.

• Christmas morning: open presents, eat a bunch of sugary food, get sick to the stomach, fall asleep from the pain.
