Indeed they do. And those are actually still living people, but with severe brain damage due to oxygen deprivation caused by a temporary death like state that the "zombie powder" that is used in certain rituals induces. or so the zombie survival guide says.

where do they do that? its someplace in africa right? or an island? and what is in the powder?

I've heard scattered reports from South America, Africa, The Carribean, and even the souther US.

Yes, I've heard it often mentioned in area where Hoodoo or Voodoo is reported to be precticed.

is hoo doo a real thing? or did you just say that, cause ive heard it in a song on labrinth (i know i spelled that wrong)

Hoodoo is indeed a real religion. I dont have any sources at the moment to back myself up with. But I do believe it is.

Well, what I have seen on Discovery, the voodoo Zombies are poisened with something much more powerfull than scianide (sp?) In places where there is not extremely sensitive technology, they cant pick up the faint heartbeat or breathing. The patiant is pronounced dead. The shaman comes and then gives the person the antidote, and then takes them as a slave. WEll, thats what I've heard anyway sweatdrop

About actual zombies, I really dont want to meet one of those gonk I had a Dawn of the dead dream one time, I was in my school hiding in the band room and they were coming gonk that dream scared the bejeezus out of me. Then, the next night I had a Shaun of the Dead dream, Shaun came and we started to beat the crap out of a Zombie with a cricket bat xd That was probably one of the best dreams I have ever had blaugh rofl

I believe that zombies are real. I think that before the person died a curse of some sort was placed on them so they come back from the dead, as a zombie. I also think that they don't have to rotting or acting on primal insticts like to feed. I think that some zombies can think and feel for themselves, but the curse forever makes them live and have to feed on human flesh to keep their form. What do you all think? 3nodding

Huh...I could have sworn it was the other way around. At least, on the Skeleton Key extras they talked about the difference between hoo doo and voo doo. I really thought that hoo doo was the religion and voo doo was the dolls...I'll have to check tomorrow.

no no, im pretty sure im right, i thopught it was the other way too, until a girl in my class did a project on it.
hoo doo was just thought of as voo doo because people dint understand either one and asumed voo doo was evil, hoo doo is the dark part of the religion, the part that is the dolls

It should be noted that it's not all dark. Voodoo dolls are just like poppets in early European magical practice...they can be, and usually are, used for healing. It's only sometimes they're used for messing up your enemies.

I have read all of your statements and would like you to know this hoodoo and voodoo are the same thing with few differencses voodoo is the pureest form of this majik and is used for maney reasons that is why it is nuetral majik practiced by whitchdocters and shamans hoodoo is voodoo of the americas which we added god and religion to it Now as for zombies andy time in which a soul has left its body the still living boidy becomes a zombie now if you read laurel K. hamilton's Anita Blake novels you would know that also the ways of killing zombies are different as well majikal zombies are animater by just that majik and cant be killed except by fire aka the clenseing funeral pyre but the zombies in certain movies are animated by some viruss can be killed usualy by decapitation or destruction fo the brainnow as for the voodoo zombies they have a weak heartbeat and dont have to eat any more their strength be comes slightly greater and a lot o f brain functions cese like creative thought and some times even speech a good movie to watch on voodoo would be the rainbow and the serpent in the movie the main character be comes a zombie and is forced to live as the cursers slave till the curser decides to let him free now if you reed the books as mention earlier then you would be led to beleave that zombies are the direct effect of a necromancer reanimateing a dead person and that the way to keep a zombie cognate is to feed them blood not exactly humans blood but it needs to be blood also note that zombies also disslike light and only eat humans when the reanimated corpse is that of a necromancer.

If you find a book in the 'fiction' section, that means that it isn't meant to be taken seriously. Neither is the sci-fi or fantasy section of your local blockbuster. Word to the wise, that.

Firstly, it's magic. Screwing with the spelling doesn't change what it is. There is no 'pure form' of magic. It's a personal art.

As for Houdou and Voudun, they are indeed two different things. Voudun , or voodoo as it's commonly called, is the religion that emphasizes prayer and piety, whereas Houdou is the shamanistic craft practiced by traditional 'witchdoctors,' or whatever it is you choose to call them.

Magical zombies can be killed in a number of ways, depending on the means of their creation. Zombies raised with Greek necromantic rites must be killed by nailing them to their funeral bed. Houdou zombies must have their mouths filled with salt, and then sewn shut. Strigan, a ghoul from the middle east, must be slain via bodily dismemberment. Demonic (to be read: Christian) zombies can be slain in many ways similar to that of demons, with consecrated iron or silver weapons, or, for our purposes, bullets. Russian undead must be burned after having their heads cut off...and even then, the being may return for a day or two afterword.
Some zombies can be tied to a particular object, and can only be killed by destroying the philactriate, much like a liche. Then there are the plague dancers, known for their famous 'Danse Macabre.' There is no way to kill these beings...you just have to wait out the plague that spawned them. They will not persue you, but if you stumble across them while they're dancing, you will immediately be infected with what killed them.

...and as a side note, what on Earth could the english language have ever done to you to warrant you butchering it so badly? Why must you hurt it so? In the future, please use some kind of punctuation...and you might want to run your posts through a spell checker. You spelled every other word wrong. Really wrong.
