Mayu was still confused as to what the other girl was talking about, exactly, but decided not to ask more. It would surely just confuse her more.
"Well, you can use it for lots of stuff, like looking up words or talking to friends or listening to music.." She listed some more things off of the top of her head, then nodded to Paestri. "But you have to have the right programs or you can't do any of those things."
With a few clicks of the mouse, Mayu opened up the calculator program to show the other Legend. "Like this, if you want to add or subtract numbers, you have to use this program to do so. And if you want to look things up, you need a dictionary software or you can go online to do so."
She hoped the explanation was good enough, she was never particularly good at playing teacher.

((XD just wanted to know what you thought of the pic I drew))
"Ah, so a laptop is like a small tv that you can bring around?" Paestri had assumed it would be similar to a television, after all Mayu did mention programs and weren't there television programs? "What does that do?" She asks, pointing to a small icon with a yellow, squishy person on it.

(( XD Sorry, I was pretty much conked out at the time you IMed me so I didn't get a chance to comment on it. *takes naps during the day*
It's cute, but I sacked my friend for being a ***** after he wanted to see what I was trying to save. XD *showed it to him, and then he kept saying these stupid things* ))
"You can watch TV shows on it, yes, but it does a lot more."
Mayu looked to the AIM icon which Paestri was pointing to, and double-clicked it. The window with the blue-and-yellow AIM logo popped on screen, and she waved a hand at it. "This is AOL Instant Messenger, of course! Here, let me sign on."
She typed in her screenname and password quickly, and clicked the "sign on" button. Moments later, her buddy list popped on screen.
"Guess no one's online.." she muttered, looking down the list of gray names. It wasn't a very large list, to be exact. She wasn't even sure whose screennames she had added onto her list, it being so long ago that she had made her AIM account.
(( It was really a few weeks ago, but she forgot who she added. Seven yearsssss, man! ))

Paestri nodded as she took in Mayu's explanations without batting an eye. Sure she didn't understand as well as others would hope, but she got a very vague sense of what the laptop was. Maybe she should ask Huni about it when she got home?
"What does online mean?" She asked, "Does that mean some stations aren't working right?"

"Um... no. Online means that you're connected to the internet."
This poor girl had obviously never seen a computer in her life. Mayu stepped aside and offered Paestri her seat, pointing at the laptop.
"Well, the best way to learn is by experience, isn't it? Here, try it out." She grinned, plopping down on the opposing seat. Maybe it was a bad idea.. The laptop wasn't even hers to begin with! What would she do if the other broke it? She wasn't even sure if she should be allowing Paestri to use her laptop. Perhaps there was an unspoken rule about not lending out laptops to newly-met acquaintances...

The girl sat down without a second thought, it didn't strike her as odd that she was going to use Mayu's laptop. After all, they did know each other, even if Mayu didn't remember her. Her hands remain on her lap as she stared at the contraption before her.
A few seconds go by before she looks to Mayu,
"What do I do, exactly? There are just so many buttons to push."
"Try pushing everything?" Malady suggested.

"You push the ones with the letters to type words, and move around with the touchpad."
Mayu learned over the table to tap at the things she had mentioned, and nodded. That was thorough enough an expanation, and she would give Paestri a more detailed one if asked. She had an odd way of teaching, and wasn't sure if it would be at all effective.
Well, trial and error, right?

Canting her head slightly, Paestri tapped the touchpad. What was supposed to happen, she wondered. As she explored with the laptop's capabilities, she ended up clicking on the icon that allowed her to surf the internet. Of course, once the window popped open, the pink haired girl blinked in surprise. "What did I do?" she asked in mild fear.
She hoped she hadn't done anything to break it.

"Well, it looks like you've opened Mozilla Firefox.." Mayu said, straining to see what was on screen. Perhaps it wasn't quite a smart idea to sit at the opposing seat to Paestri.
Dragging a chair over to sit besides the pink-haired girl, the Legend drummed her fingers on the table gently as she waited for the other to do something new. As long as she was watching, the laptop -- and her new-old friend -- would be fine.
The ghosts had gotten bored of watching the two girls by then -- they had seen this Firefox thing plenty of times, and it seemed that the pink-haired one didn't seem too harmful to the well-being of Mayu.
With the affirmation that their cherry tree friend was not in any danger, the two spirits began to wander off. They would find their way back to the table later when they got bored of exploring, or if Mayu called for help.

"Mozilla Firefox? Is that what it's called?" she asked in mild awe, once relief that she hadn't ruined anything sunk in. She scooted over a little to give Mayu a better view of the laptop. "What do you do to make it do stuff?"
Malady muttered things beneath its breath and perched atop Paestri's head like a wispy hat. "I'm boooooored. Do something fun or interesting. Like make that thingy go boom!"

The child nodded, not giving a thought anymore as to why she was explaining the workings of a laptop to a stranger who claimed to apparently know her.
"Well, it depends on what you want to do, I guess. You type stuff in the bar at the top and it brings up a webpage, and then you click around to look at stuff." It was the best way she could think to describe it, and it was pretty much right.
She gave a glance to Malady, frowning. "My mom will have my head if the laptop goes boom."

"Really? That's much more fun than looking at this teevee-wannabee." Malady snickered, purposefully extending tendrils in an attempt to press random buttons. Of course the Intangible only managed to pass right through the laptop and the table. "I ******** hate not being able to touch anything!" it hissed.
Paestri wondered if the laptop had a remote of sorts that she could 'click' on, that was one of the ways she got to see different things on television. "Is there a channel for baking?" she asked, apparently ignoring Malady and its comments.

Mayu gave a little chuckle at Malady -- it was like watching her own two ghostly companions sometimes. They would often forget that they weren't in a solid form, and would react to things as if they were able to feel them. It made for some quality entertainment sometimes.
"I think the food network has a website," the Legend said, scanning her brain. "Try that?" she asked, leaning over to see the screen. Of course, it didn't click into her mind that the pink-haired girl might not know how to get there, or even what a website was. She had adapted so quick to using technology again after returning from the old-styled world that it never occured to her that other people might have struggles with these sort of things.
"" Miroku muttered, pretending to drum his fingers on the table. Even if this new place was a fresh change from the old, the ghost still missed being solid. He couldn't make annoying noises by banging on tables anymore!

"Food network web-site?" Paestri blinked, once again staring at the keys and the screen. "What channel is that? And what button do I press?" Icing-pink eyes glancing over to Mayu.

Mayu scratched her cheek gently, wondering how easily she could explain this with herself still making sense and Paestri understanding what she said. She idly wondered how she had gotten herself into this situation in the first place, trying to explain the internet to a girl who had obviously never used a computer before.
The child shook her head, reaching one hand over to point on the screen at where the URL was supposed to be typed in.
"You type in a special address here," she explained, "and then it takes you to a website." Hands reaching over to rest on the keyboard, though uncomfortably, the girl typed in a stream of letters quickly and pressed the enter key, bringing up a search engine into which she typed more words and phrases.
She finally brought up a colorful website filled with images of tasty-looking food items, wringing her wrists as she took them off of the keyboard to let Paestri see.
"Now you try clicking around," Mayu grinned, propping her elbows on the table as she looked over to the screen.
