"It still sounds like too much of a lucky guess to me," Doe said flatly. Even though she trusted people quite easily, Kate was the first to be hard to earn her trust.
"I think it's the injection they gave when we came, I'm not very sure, I can't remember much of what Oz told me," Doe replied, watching the calm ocean.

"If you say so," Kate replied, lifting her head. She took down her glasses and wiped them with the edge of her bloose; she hate unclean lenses. She also rubbed her eyes with the back of her hands, trying to regain her composture.
"The injection?" Kate echoed as she slipped her glasses back onto the bridge of her nose, pushing them up. She remembered taking an injection upon her arrival... It was supposed to be against some sort of disease. Pah, a lie, and she fell for it.
"I do remember that..."

Doe hugged herself, almost wishing that she could go back to the duplex, "Of course. Every islander had the injection when they first arrived," she replied, kicking at the sand aimlessly.

"Yes, but who was to know it would end up like this?" Kate sighed, and suddenly realised that the tide was slowing falling. It had been licking at her foot just now, but it's not even near her toes now.
She must have had been here for quite some time.

"I just hope I don't change into a reptile, an insect or something like that," Doe mumbled, still wondering what she would change into, as she rubbed the spot on her arm on which she got the injection.
The sky seemed darker, it was turning late.

Kate shivered, but not because of the cold, it hadn't really bothered her before. It's just the mere thought of turning to something creepy, or even disguesting, like an insect that gave her the shivers. She had always had a fear of creepy crawlies.
Heck, she would rather turn into a snake then an insect. She like snakes.
"I don't mind a reptile if it's a snake, although turning into an alligator or even a komodo dragon is just... Unimmaginable." She replied, reaching for the sneakers at her side. Dusting off the sand from her foot, she slipped on her footwear.

Doe shuddered in disgust, "I hate scaly creatures. I wouldn't exactly mind something with fur though."
"I think there's somebody called Cass that is turning into a snake. With wings." Doe spoke this thought out loud. It was rather weird that a snake had wings. It made her think of the chinese idiom, "Hua she tian zu," but...oh no...that meant adding legs, not wings to a snake.

"Snakes are actually really smooth, and not slimy at all, even if they have scales." Kate nodded as she tied her shoe laces, "It's because of the scales' texture that makes them so shiny. People often have the wrong interpretation. As for having fur, I'm just afraid of fleas."
Standing up, she dusted herself and gave her body a good stretch, "A snake with wings? They must have added something to her injection then. How can a snake have wings?"

Doe fell silent, taking a few steps away from the beach, wanting to go back, "I don't know. But she just does, I guess."
She turned and began to head to the path which led back to the duplexes.

Kate shrugged, and followed Doe with a slight jog. Walking by the other female's side, she huffed and gave a grin, "They say sea air is good for health, but it doesn't seem to do much to me... I'm hopeless at physical stuff, even a slow jog kills me!"

"Well, the air is really fresh and it's really relaxing," Doe replied, going at a moderate pace. "I'm okay with PE, I guess, but I'm just too lazy."

"Argh, I hate PE." Kate replied, sheaking her head from left to right slowly. "It's not that I hate the teacherr that much or anything, but why can't he just stop with all that forcing? Seesh!" She rolled her eyes.
"Anyway, it's not about the air. It's okay, I guess." She added, pushing her glasses up her nose. "Just that it's so different from Singapore. I'm actually feeling a litle homesick..."

"The NAPFA test is a little of a bore," Doe frowned. She didn't exactly hate PE, just the tests themselves.
"It is different," she replied thoughtfully. "But it is a change. I kind of feel homesick, I guess. I miss the food."

Kate swept her hair to a side, "Yeah... But I'll do the test if it'll allow me to go back." She laughed bitterly, rubbing the edge of her blouse subconsciously. She would do almost anything to get away from this freaky island.
She's not a lab rat, damn it!
"The food? There's some good food in the cafeteria..." She mused out loud, "Although it doesn't beat home cooked meals..."

Doe laughed, "I guess I would too, only if they'd send me somewhere else," she cocked her head, "Though what if they'd injected us with some turtle serum?" she joked lightly, trying to lighten the slight tension.
"It's not bad, but I'm starting to have this craving for salad," she frownd momentarily, "Oh well, it must be my subconcious prodding me towards a diet."
