The tratorious fact was that he had just completely bullshitted that entire reason. He had not seen a name tag, but he knew that there was one there. But, to tell the truth meant for an eariler decsent to hell. For her, not for him. Afterall, he controlled hell. Likewise, paradise was his to rule forever. But, unlike any other creature of his stature, he strived to life anormal life as much as possible. He never abused his powers, he never intervened with human tastes. Only once had he stepped in to save the life of a young man who would change the world. If he had died, which was the product of humanity, the world that he liked over all others, would cease to exist. Quite literally too. He drained the last drops of his forgien drink and began to head for the mysterious door nearest the bar, where he spent his time when he wasn't cleaning glasses and tables.

Just a few chores left to do. He picked up the rag from its coat hanger and began to once more wipe the tables clean. Still, they sparkled with such intenisty. It was a slightly dumb idea to wipe the tables, and even the chairs, when they were so free of dust and grime. But, it was his two time a day ritual. It was his meditation that kept him sane. Even beings of such power needed some down time to keep a cool head. But, this time, he did not slip into a state of becalmed serenity. He stayed in his alert mode, listening to the winds to tell him of anyone who maybe on the come. Little invisible birds of the wind often told him many things. One in particular told him of something new to come... He grinned.

A tune found its way out of his throat. It was low, mellow. Like a chorus of monks praising some obscure deity in a serpent tongue. It was dark and msyterious like the nights on which witches rode their spells around the moon and the stars. It was thought provoking like Plato and the igornant world that he resided in. It was... Haunting. The sort of haunting that doesn't make you shriek with Halloween delight. It wasn't the type that alluded to spirits of another time walking among the world. It was the type that send shivers up your back in even the hottest desert. That kind that held you close with such a love, but tore your heart right out of its cavity and feasted on it right before your dying, but peaceful, eyes. It was the tune of time.

Finished with his chores and set right by his song, he disappeared through the dark door. It creaked shut, but made no thump to indicate that it properly hit the frame. All stood still. Even the wind did not move.

The book she was reading had been quite interesting and had young Rowena trapped deep into its story line and whatnot. But something brought her out of it, a haunting tune that seemed to call her.

Come young one, come....

It was a strange tune indeed, sending shivers down her spine as she answered it. Her feet hitting the cold wood floor as she slid out of bed.

Come come.

It whispered to her. It was if she had no control of her body as she continued to follow it. This tune... it was so familiar. She had heard it before she was sure, perhaps in a dream. Though the exact incident she could not recall. The shivers down her body were an oh so familair sensation as well. Though she had only gotten it during huge paranormal encounters. Could it be that it was happening again, her paranormal senses peaking once more?

Her body carried her over to the staircase. She could feel each step under her as she ascended, so soon it seemed. She was just up there. Then, as suddenly as it started, the mysterious song stopped. at this point she had just climbed though the door and was standing right outside of it, staring down. It was almost if she had been in a trace and had no idea why she was there again. But she quickly snapped out of it and remembered what happened. That strange song... why did it bring her here?

Rowena looked around and saw nothing. She didn't see the tavernkeep and there seemed to be no other lifeform other then the lovely spectum of the flame in the fireplace across the room. It had a very eerie aspect to it, think ghost town or maybe even psycho killer...

Oh well... she shook off the feeling and tought that she might as well get something to drink and maybe eat while she was here. Not wanting to disturb the keeper, thinking he was already asleep or something, she went behind the bar herself and took a glass. She stood there looking at all the different beverages, wondering what she was in the mood for.

In his back room, he let down his long, white hair.

"I wouldn't mix the purple frothy one with the blood red tea leaves, if I were you." He called out from a darkened corner. Nearest the fireplace, he stepped out of the shadows, his stark white hair covering most of his once open face. His eyes, normally a curious shade of bluish gray were now a deep laquier black, cold as stones at the bottom of a sea.
"And, frankly, no one and I mean no one is allowed to touch my collection of drinks. I told you to ring the bell."
He walked to the bar and placed a pale hand on the crystal bell. With an unseen flick of the fingers, the bell gave a sharp ping through the ghostly lit room. It was a singular note, the characteristic reverberations of all notes devoid in its sound. It was a constant ringing, neverending, almost hurtful to the ears. But, it suddenly stopped. The man had his hair up in a ponytail once more, tied back with a little black ribbon.
"Now... Walnut?" he offered.

(( Fwaha! I make meh appareance ))

It had been a good day for Rikah. She had just gotten out of her class, she was doing ballroom dancing as a minor to her studies as an astrologer. It was an odd combination for sure. She smiled and waved to the others in the class as she left the room, the dloor closing behind her and she walked down a few steps before opening the door that lead outside. It was night time, and the campus was quite. Her blue eyes shifted around the area, she was in a good mood. With a soft bound down the outside stairs, she moved her hands behind her back, the heels of her shoes clicked against the cement. A gentle breeze pushed passed her catching the dress and tugging at it some.

She felt her hair slip over her shoulders and as she entered into the courtyard she felt something odd around her. Was someone following her? She glanced over her shoulder and she saw a pair of eyes staring at her. It was as if her body froze and she tripped over herself the purple fabric around her body felt suddenly tense and she tried to scream, feeling the cement against her butt.

It happened so fast someone She would have said, but she watched in slow motion, just as her butt hit the ground, her arm was grabbed. She was thing, and average height, so she was on hte lighter side. She was yanked up, and then she felt something sharp in her stomach. She blinked leaning into the body of the man that had been behind her. Her reaction was delayed as the object that penetrated her twisted and then was yanked back out, and she was pushed away.

Her breath escaped her as she fell onto the ground, and she felt weak. something warm had started to move along her skin...

She was walking again... down a strange path. She seemed a bit confused, -Through the leaves and vines, you can make out a roof high up. Funny, you did not notice the roof when you first examinded your surroundings... Perhaps, this place can show you the way to your destination. You run towards it, your head held high to gaze at its rough bark walls and its pine shingled roof. When you reach its base, you realize that it is up in the trees of the forest, swaying gentlely in the evening breeze. You call up for help. It continues to sway, back and forth, like a tiny flower boat over a relaxing stream. It mesmerizes you. Soft sounds of the woodpecker stop. Your crazed thoughts are capped and a silver ladder descends from the door of this house. With an air of an angel, you float up the ladder, hardly noticing the gravity that pulls you downwards. You rise up into the one roomed tavern and take in its dew-like scent. -

She had arrived finally.

Startled she dropped the glass, having it shatter into many pieces below her. She looked down as it did, then looked up again at the tavernkeep. Her eyes locked with his and she couldn't look away, his eyes... they were of a different color then when she had first walked in. Rowena backed away as he advanced on her. What was he? He couldn't be could he? A demon? It wouldn't have surprised her, it wouldn't have been the fist encounter with something... non-human.

"I told you to ring the bell..." he said with such a demonic tone as he himself rang the bell. A sharp ring ran through the room making her squirm. She shut her eyes tightly and covered her ears. Her body writhered with pain as she was brought down to her knees. "I'm sorry, I just didn't want to disturb you. Ahh just make it stop!!" She practically yelled. Just then it all did stop and she was left on the floor on her hands and knees panting. "I'm sorry..." she whispered.

She then looked at the glass sprawled all over the floor. She scooted over to it and began getting the larger pieces by hand. One slipped at cut her across the hand. She groaned and examined it as she licked off the trickling blood. She threw away the glass and got the rest with a broom in the corner. She got up and whispeered another apology without looking up at him then retreated to the trapdoor. She descended and again went to her room.

She went to her bathroom and looked at the cut again. It wasn't that deep, but would take a bit of time to heal. She agained licked it clean then ran it under some hot water and watched the water turn red as it went down the drain. After a few minutes, she went out and checked in the wardrobe to see if there was a piece of cloth for her to wrap around her hand. Fortunately there was, so she took it and wrapped it tightly around her hand. Rowena then went back on her bed and to her book, hoping it would take her mind off of recent events.

He watched her clean up the mess that he had practically caused, still holding the walnut in his hand. His eyes, still a deep black, followed he every move. There was no remorse in that fearue, no guilt or even a tinge of sorrow. When the blood trickled down, he could only smirk with a satanic delight. When she retreated to her room, his only thought was Good riddence!. An angered growl escaped his throat, much like those of a panther feeding on its gory prey. But, when the newcomer entered, his eyes slipped back to their blue-gray hue. The lighting of the room bightened just a bit and he, indeed, did now feel a bit sorry for scaring the girl have out of her mind. but, he had a new one to cater to.
"Welcome, traveller." he announced from behind the bar, where the wall was covered with a great many liquids and leaves.
"Can I get you anything? A drink, some water, dinner perhaps? You have come at quite late a time..."
He dived under the bar to fish up a cup, one encrusted with a few shiny white stones. In the other hand, he held that same nut that always started out the offer of foods...
"Peanut?"

This one was too young. It pained him... She had such a good future ahead of herself, such a good life, but she would now never know the husband that would love her or the kids that would adore her... But only if she had not met her killer. Poor, poor Rikah. Alas, she was here now. And for this experience to in her best interest, he would have to remain cheerful.

Rikah blinked sensing there was more then just him there. She assumed the other left. She made sure that the door closed behind her, and she moved her arm ovr her waist, letting her hand rest on her arm. She tilted her head to the offers and she smiled softly as she took a few steps inward, making sure she wasn't disturbing anything. "Would a water be to much trouble?" She asked in a soft voice, she felt a bit tired, maybe coffee would have been a better request? "oh.." She waved her hand slightly to the nut.. "I'm sorry, I'm allergic... to nuts." Her allergy was odd, it was the nuts themselves but not the oils or anything like that.

Something was very strange about this, all of it, but she wasn't going to bother this man. "Excuse me, am I alright to sit at that bar?" She asked again. Her steps stopped a few feet back from the bar. Her heels meekly echoed and then stopped. She teeted some, in a childish manner on the balls of her feet.

"I'm Rikah..." She smiled lightly.

He let out an overly dramatic sigh.
"that makes two people here that are allergic to peanuts! How can you be so allergic to the food of the bar... There's always peanuts... There will always be peanuts, but nope. The people here are allergic to peanuts! Poor peanut. Don't worry. I'll eat you mercilessly."
He popped the peanut into his moutn and chewed thougtfully. His teeth were like shining stars, sparkling and dancing with pleasure. The cup that he had placed on the bar was now filled with water, though a closer examaination and deep thought revealed that the man had not made one move to fill the cup. It was just... there. Completely undisturbed by the slight tremors of the bar, the water remained as smooth as glass and unwrinkled by the small breezes. It appeared to be almost a mass of clear jelloifed plastic, but it was just water.
"The bar is open to anyone at anytime. Just ring the bell over there if I'm not here." He pointed towards the crystal bell that stood motionless at the edge of the bar. It looked alive with passion at the moment.
"And it is a pleasure to meet you Rikah." He extended his black gloved hand in greeting, "You may call me Tavernkeep."

While the new arriver began to sip her water, his mind trailed back to Rowena who was probably still quite shaken up and still hungry. He sighed in guilt. What would she eat... "Excuse me for a moment..." he said to Rikah as he dived out of the room into the omnious door nearest the bar. When opened, all that poured out was a twitching blackness that seemed to pull the man inside. A few moments later, he came back out with a small dish of vegetables.
"I swear that I'll be back in a jiffy. You can time me if you'd like." he whispered apologetically to the woman. The trapdoor in the ground opened up and he disappeared inside. Down the torch lit hallway he went, but not too far as to miss the room that Rowena had chosen. He knocked lightly and called out, "Room service in apology for my demonic side."
Now, he just had to wait in anticipation.

She smiled at him the entire time and nodded. She made herself comfrotable in her seat and she watched what was happening but never said ahold. She glanced around and eyes the nuts. "Hmm..." She mumbled some and shifted lightly leaning forward. She wouldn't die from the nuts. She actaully only get stomach aches, like someone would if they were slightly lactose intolerant. She reached out to the the nuts, and she took one, she sniffed it and then popped it into her mouth. She felt bad for making it seem like she couldn't ever eat them... Her stomach wasn't very fair to her... Raw carrots gave her the hiccups.

She chewed the nut lightly and then swallowed. She looked around the place, curioustiy ran through her but she kept her control. "I wonder if theres..." She moved to eye the walls looking for a music box of some sort. She wanted to dance... She felt it in her body. She swayed some in her seat as she remembered that he mentioned there was another person... She then wondered who it was.

She felt a breeze go by as she walked through the park alone. It seemed darker tonight then most. Jane found it weird that there was hardly anyone out especially in nice park such as this one. Actually, looking around, she saw no one, not a soul. A chill went down her spine as she continued to walk, an erie feeling filled the air. Was someone following her? The brunett tried to shake the feeling off, though she couldn't. She began to walk faster, all she wanted to do was get home. Heh... little did she know that she did indeed have a stalker...

A knock on the door along with a voice interrupted her reading. Rowena groaned due to the interruption, she was getting really into the story once again. She slid out of bed and walked towards the door. She used her right hand to open the door due to her left hand being a bit sore. Opening the dorr just a crack, she stood there looking at the tavernkeep, making sure her left hand was in fact hidden behind the door.

It was an awkward moment as the two to them stood there looking at each other in silence. Then Rowena looked from his eyes down to what he was holding in his hands. A plate of vegetables, how considerate of him. Though now she wasn't in the mood. "I'm not that hungry, thanks anyways..." she mumbled as she closed the door on him and returned to her bed. Yeah, it was kinda mean, but she just wasn't in the mood. Damn her mood swings and just her overall bitchiness.

In the end, she did feel guilty but she just didn't want to go back up. She had to have some time to cool off or else she was sure to go off on him or anyone else in the room and she just didn't want to make that type of impression, especially if she was planning to leave in the morning. Maybe she'll just go up later and apologize or do it in the morning before leaving. With a heavy sigh on her thoughts, she returned to her book.

He knew full and well what her slightly mean intentions were. But, what could be expected? Even if she invited him in, yelling would ensue. He didn't want such a horrible thing to happen, but she did almost touch his drink collection. His eyes touched on their black parts for but a second. Alas, the remained blue afterall. He decided that he would leave the plate of veggies at the door just in case. They would stay quite fresh, being grown in his own personal garden.

The trap door swung open and he reentered the main tavern room with a whooshing sigh. Awkward, his existance was marked by the such awakwards. He hopped over the wood of the bar to where his drink collection stood in its grandness and returned his attention to Rikah.
"Thought you said you were allergic." he stated pointedly, his eyes glancing towards the bowl of nuts. Being equipt with a picture perfect mind came in handy as an excuse if she felt the need to ask how he knew.
"But anyhow, you never said if you wanted some real food. Coffee, perhaps? Something to refresh you?'

She jumped some at his re-entrance into the room. She let her eyes follow him and gave a light sigh of appology. "I am, but, not deathly, Simply a stomach ache if I eat enough of them... I've just always been in that nasty habit of telling people that, and they they will usually bring out some other kind of food. terribly sorry about that. I don't even think about what I'm saying when it comes up anymore.." She mumbled appologeticly.

Leaning onto the bar top she looked over to him again and she smiled softly. "Coffee... yes.. Coffee would be very nice, I am tired." she smiled lightly... "Maybe... something small to eat? popcorn... if its not to much trouble..." She sighed once mroe appologeticly. "Oi..." she shook her head some and she smiled lightly at him. She moved her hand to her stomach, with a funny look, almsot saying it hurt."

"Aye... I'll go get some interesting choice of foods then, eh?"
He disappeared into the back room, where the darkness swallowed him whole and the light never dared to penetrate. Unnatural noises swayed from the closed door, whirs and bleeps that resembled a sort of uninvented robot. It only added to the couriosity of the room. Several minutes passed and he strange man remerged, holding a bowl of fluffy popcorn and a platter with a mug of hot coffee, cream and a small blue bowl of sugar. He placed the items on the bar in front of Rikah and pulled two white capsules from his breastpocket.
"These should help with your stomach."

Rikah was like a cat the noises make her ears perk up and she titled her head some. She watched where the noise was comming from. then he came back and her face seemed to light up. She wiggled in ehr seat as she followed him with her eyes.

"Now, how do i pay for the food?" She asked, trying to pry her eyes from the coffee as the aroma filled her senses. "Do i pay you now or, later?" She asked. Managing to get her eyes away before they went right back down...

Her figners wiggled some as she started to mix her coffee up the way she liked it...

Rowena put the book down, tired of reading. The guilt of what had happened had also caught up with her. She got up and opened her door. It creaked as she did so. The teen looked around and noticed the plate of vegetables in front of her door. She picked it up and picked out a carrot. Taking a small bite out of it with a crunch, she stepped out of the doorway and closed the door behind her. Her grey eyes roamed up and down the hall. Was she the only tenant? Hopefully not, it would prove eerie if she indeed was the only one.

Deciding that the vegies were good but rather plain, she went back up. Slowly climbing the steps and lifting the trapdoor. In the tavern she noticed that there were two people in the room. The familiar tavernkeep and one other she didn't know. Must be another guest. It relieved her anxiety of being the only tenant.

Seeing as how the tavernkeep was busy with the other person, she sat down at the bar and waited to be helped, being extremely cautious as to not get too close to the drinks and whatnot. Although that just made her want to get closer. What was so precious or private about them? Was the tavernkeep hiding something? Sounded like something out of a book really. Finally deciding against anything, she sat still and tried to get comfortable as she waited.
