In Mystic Island you will see three forms of line art.
Version 1: (Laying Foal, Rearing Male, Taunting Female) The line art is not copied or traced in any way, shape, or form. However, it can no longer be used because Gaia says it is to close to Lisa Frank. So I'm giving Lisa Frank some credit for allowing me to view her images while I drew horse line art.

Introduction
There are many strange creatures dwelling on Mystic Island. There have always been the unicorns, pegasus, and alicorns, besides the rather unusual horses. There are the Changelings. One more creature has been discovered: the Avalings.
It's hard to say how long the Avalings have existed, but they cannot truly exist until they are given the opportunity to take a shape. When Avalings were first discovered, they were nothing but lifeless figurines.
Yet the figurine was not so lifeless as it may have seemed.
They are created with a spirit, the possibility to become a living creature, animal and in tune with the rhythms of Mystic Island. Given a caretaker, a "parent," it can take a form. The Avaling comes into the world as a small infant, resembling its parent, but with animal features.
They share a connection with each other... but still, little is known about them, as so few of them have found parents...
Once you adopt an Avaling you will take care of the figurine given to you that was found in Mystic Grove. If you have taken really good care of it a charm will appear dangling from the moon! The charm will represent an animal that you are closet to. Once the Avaling feels connected to you it will emerge from the figurine, and become a baby. You must teach the baby the basics of life (watch out they can grow quickly if loved enough... This, however, is no reason to love them any less). Once the Avaling gets a strong connection to you, and knows the basics it will become a kid. A kid is basically the intermidate phase between a baby and teen. Once it grows from a kid to a teen the basic tasks will be to start building a relationship, and a career. However, the most important task a teen must accomplish is learning more about themselves. It appears when they are most assured about themselves, they will become adults. Adults are continuing into their career, and towards the end of adult hood finishing them up. Also about mid way through there adult stage they will be able to start a family. They can only do this once (could result in 1 or 2, random) because it takes an extreme amount of time and energy. As an adult they may also start to loose interest in you, and may want to move out. They may do this so that they can support their family, or for what ever the reason may be. Reaching the elder stage can be a pretty hard task coming! Elders are usually wise, and graceful... Or extremely mischievous! They have retired from their career, and are now teaching their children and grand children. They seem too stingy about teaching others though unless connected to them. They pretty much know about themselves now, and may choice to occasional go on "outings", although they pretty much will not want to... When they are ready they will also come back to your side (some may choose not to), and become a completely faithful companion to you. Although, they will still be super protective over their mate, and family!

InformationDue to the work that goes into an Avaling, only one Avaling per Parent. Also, there are very few out there, so please let's not be greedy.
However, if your Son/Daughter mates and produces a child you two may share joint ownership or give the child to a friend. Adult Avaling still have a lot to live for, so please make sure you can balance your time before you try and balance both.
If you are interested in owning an Avaling please Private Message Kawaii_Hime_Ceres. We strongly suggest that if you plan on becoming the owner of an Avaling child come on in and chat! Get to know the people because you will be seeing a lot of them!
It is greatly appreciated if you put a photo of your Avaling into your signature or signature page. You may also choose to use a randomizer. I do understand that Gaia does have its signature limitations.
The most important responsibility of the Protector is to maintain the Avaling's diary. Once you have purchased your Avaling I will PM you asking a name for the child, and in some cases the gender. Once those have been given I will create you a diary. In the diary you will need to store any information pertaining to your Avaling, as well as, write entries about your time together. You may also create entries in their point of view.
Diaries/Logs need to be written in at least once a month! If you are having some real life issues please send Ceres a quick blurb on what's up.
When an Avaling has been Put to Pasture: Simply put it means that you didn't have time for your Avaling, and the rest of the world is tired of waiting. I prefer to not let Avaling's change hands, as from what I have seen, it doesn't work to well. Instead, you get to keep them. However, they become a normal human. They will not grow when they have been Put to Pasture. You may though request an RP session with Ceres to regain access back into the island! At this time there is nothing in the Corner Market that can affect Avaling's who have been Put to Pasture.
In general, role-play is highly encouraged: within diaries, and in the HQ thread. Please have fun with this - a Avaling is a growing child who's development is completely controlled by you - whether it will become a Family Person or a Millionaire, a Mage or an Fisherman - your interactions with your child, as well as, the child's interactions with others will shape the outcome of the child. Also - the Avaling's interactions with other Avaling's will play a role in the matters of matting for life as well.
Growing a Child: You must complete the requirements! Then PM Ceres to tell her that you are ready for your child to grow. These things listed below can be completed at your own pace! However, if you're going to post monthly make sure the entries are worth the while. If you're more frequent at roll-playing then shorter entries are fine.
For an Avaling to advance to the next stage: You will need to wait at least 1 to 2 months per stage depending on your activity. Also you will need to complete at least 2 new tasks per stage. As well as, a combination of at least 2 new Quests/Missions per stage. You'll need to have at least one new RP session per stage with one of the follow Ceres, Perian, or Pavel. They will ask something of you, which you must complete. Lastly to help build character you will need at least one play date per stage (except Figurine, and Charm)! This can be with one or multiple children/adults.
Also remember, the more you do, the quicker it goes. Depending on what you write is how quickly we can add Tasks, Quests, or Missions.
In every diary you will find Tasks (These are average run of the mill chores.), Quests (These are things that will structure how your child grows.), and Missions (These are things to make you, or your child happier; or bring you closer together.). It is your job to check the first post of the diary. I create Tasks, Quests, and Missions depending on what you write in your diary, and the interactions with your childs. In the Special section (Just something random, out of the ordinary that is extra special!) if no instructions are given then that means you need to PM me for further details! Remember I do not expect you to be able to complete every Task, Quest, Mission, or Special that is given. Part of growing up is learning about giving in, and defeat. Incomplete Tasks, Quests, Missions, and Specials are put into size 8, and kept red (They may become available again at another time). You may also complete Tasks, Quests, Missions, and Specials with other Avaling's and their owners.
How do I get a Special that is listed in my diary? Firstly do not ask for them. Specials are generally only given based on information that does not come from information given in a diary. The only hint I will give you is to locate me throughout the day. The more you interact with myself, and at the HQ the more likely you are to stumble across a special. Most specials are book, or group related!
Magic Trees (see the map) are located near the Avaling HQ, and on the Beach! As of right now these trees have no apparent effect on Avaling's.
You can buy items from the Corner Market (coming soon). However, you are not limited to these items. Any item that seems fit for your Avaling from any other mini-shop on GAIA is fair game. Just post those pictures in the diary. You may also use the Internet to locate pictures, or draw them yourselves.
Your Avaling will be able to have children, usually one child per Protector involved. Please do not sell these children, but you are more then welcome to either keep them to yourself or to give them to friend. An Avaling can only mate with another Avaling. This is so that we can know for sure a next generation Avaling will be born. I will also state that same gender, as well as opposite gender relationships are welcome. However, only opposite gender relationships can produce a child. I am sorry we do not offer any fertility drugs or stud services here are at Mystic Farms. There is a way for a same gender relationship to get a child... Once they have courted for a week a Special will be opened. This special will allow you to go into the Mystic Grove and allow the couple to try and bring a figurine home. Once an Avaling mates, it is generally for life!! If you choose to break a mating, then your Avaling will suffer serious penalties. This is to ensure that you are not mating them just to produce offspring. Remember with every action, there is a reaction. For Avaling's to be considered as mates they must have courted for at least 1 week (7 days). Once she is with child it must be roll played again for at least 1 week (7 days). The father must participate, other wise it will count as abandonment. In that case it may take up 2 weeks (14 days) for a child to be birthed. You may not sell one of these Avaling's. It would be a great dishonor to them. Ask yourself this; would you want your child to be sold? However, I do understand that one Avaling is already a heavy load, so you may give the child as a gift. Just make sure they are just as serious as you about raising an Avaling. I am sorry if some of these rules seem harsh, but I want to make sure the Avaling's stay happy and healthy.
Please Under no circumstances ask Protectors to sell their children. It is very hurtful to them. They have put a lot of precious time and creativity into raising them. As I stated before: Would you sell your children? Avaling's are not something to be bought just to collect dust, or be misused in any way. If you disregard this rule the Protectors and Avaling's will come after you! With permission I used Anya's FAE and Kamiki's GMFC rules as guidelines.
