Territorial Art Squires are great begginer guitars. Why? Because their Cheap and Crappy. mrgreen These bits I agree with. They aren't particularly good, but then they arn't supposed to be. They are badly set up, but that is easy to fix. There pickups may ot be great, but they arn't exactly designed for Jimmy Page to use are they? They only genuinly bad thing on them which should be better are the tuners. I only think this because I new player is going to be put off playing if their guitar keeps going out of tune. True that it would help them develop a good ear, but new players don't properly appreiciate how helpful a good ear is. I think that Squiers are fit for their purpose, which is to train new guitarists. The one other thing I don't like about Squiers is that it puts people off buying strats, because they are seriously missing out.

Squiers are cheap. They're good starter's guitars.
Of course, there's a reason they're cheap...

Territorial Art Squires are great begginer guitars. Why? Because their Cheap and Crappy. mrgreen That doesn't make any sense...why would you want to play a crappy guitar? Beginners need at least a step above crap. I remember when I was 8, I got my first guitar. A "Synsonic" from Big Lots (a closeout store) Crappiest freakin guitar ever, but I kept trying to play it. When I was 9 I stopped playing guitar due to the piece of s**t (I know...stupid) but, I think good gear motivates you to start playing. Picked it back up when I was 10 with the thought that if I got any better my dad (who also plays guitar) would by me another one. 12: Got a MIM Strat- since then it's been heavily modded, but it's still basically the same. For me at least, good gear inspired me to practice a lot, but now that I'm a pretty descent player, I don't believe gear makes the player. P.S. Why do all you people like Strats sooooooo much? Telecasters are just as good (especially since I like me some chickin' pickin') I have 3 Teles and 2 Strats, and all 5 serve their purpose (after I modified 'em wink )

As Im relatively new to guitar (Only about 6 months) Im gettin my first electric in a few weeks. It's a really old Squier Tele. But Im gettin' a Marshall Amp with it, all pretty cheap, like, around 150 bucks for all of it. I don't think it's a bad deal, really.

First thing you wann try and do with the amp, figure out which setting you like, and memorize them. I can't tell you enough how many times I've fixed my setting perfectly, to have my step-dad go in there and screw with it, and I have to spend half an hour refiguring them.

My first guitar was a squier tele. It's satan. When I got it, it not only needed to be setup, but it also needed to have the neck taken off and have the back shaven down. It had TERRIBLE fret buzz that a truss rod adjustment wouldn't fix, and I had to raise my string a half inch above the twelfth fret. Pisses me off, and I'm never buying another squier or reccomending them to anyone.

I have a Squier strat, and I don't like it, but it's what I've got. I've played it for a year and a half, and it will probably be two when I buy my next.
Aaanyways, I think they're a good started guitar, but if you have any experience, go to a regular strat. I've had no real problems with mine, but it certainly could be better xD

I own an Ibanez GRX40 (starter kit deal thingy) and I have to say its way better than the squire my friend owns, as far as feel goes. Since I havent gottent o compare htem with the same amp I cant talk about sound. I just dont like how clunkt the thing feels. As far as the whole beginners and whats good for nthem argument, beginners in my eyes need something to motivate them to play, but no something to spoil them or worse make them give up.

Actually, I much prefer my squier strat to my tutor gibson les paul. His feels horrid, The neck feels badly shaped, and the body is fugly to me. Only thing I like about it are the pickups. I need better ones.
Or, I could just go buy an Ibanez S470.

i had a squire standard(step up from the affinity series everyone has) and i liked it, sure it needed new pickups, and a blocked the trem, but throw in some good pickups better tuners and a better nut, and itll play as good if not better as a $1,000 strat
