Sitting up straight the dark cub looked upa t his father and shakes his head "No daddy why?" he blinks his dark coal black eyes fixed upon the big male. Important lessions his father had said. He could understand the pouncing though why they were using a fruit was beyond him.

Mchele looked solemn, not sad but just serious enough to emphasize this part was very important. His cub's gaze was fixed on him and he knew he had his undevided attention, good.
"I used a fruit because it wouldn't hurt another with our practicing. We kill the grass-eaters for our food, when we are older of course. But you still feed from your mother so you cannot eat meat just yet." He paused to let that sink in to the cub before going on.
"If I had used a living prey animal for your practice, it would have gotten injuried or killed but you couldn't have eaten it. Do you see then how its life would have been wasted then? We don't kill prey unless we intend to eat it, remember that Nahodha'Kota. Otherwise the lands will become unbalanced."
Ok, so some of that would be beyond the cub's grasp but hopefully the main points of it would be kept in is mind. Do not waste the bounty that the Pridelands offer their inhabitants.

'Kota watched and listened intently to his fathers speech. The used the friuit so he wouldn't hurt a creature. he nodded vigerously "I understand dady! Unless we eat it we don't killit" He grins and weaves around his fathers legs butting his head against his foreleg. "Besides meats prolly yukky, mum's milk ish yummy though!" He grins up at his dad a cubs nievity he didn't realise yet that one day he wouldn't be able to feed from his mother any longer.
"Dad when I'm a bit bigger will you show me the whole wide pridelands?" He grins broadly, he wanted to see the whole pridelands to discover every rock and treeand place to explore so he could maybe take his sisters upon adventures there. He liked to know these places would be safe though, so exploring with his dad first seemed like a sensible idea.

"Yup, that's it!" Mchele beamed at his young son, pleased that he understood the important concept at such a young age. But he chuckled when he commented on how meat would probably taste yucky. He'd felt the same way when he was the same age, until he'd weened off his mother of course. "You'll like it in time."
"And of course, I'll show you right around the boarders and all my favourite places inside the Pridelands." He laid his body down, careful to avoid squashing the little one. Swiping a paw gently around the black cub he pulled him closer and groomed his head. "It's a big place so when you're bigger might be a good idea. Lots of walking to do and things to see."

'Kota smiled ashe was pulled in to his fathers arms and groomed. Secretly the cub liked to be fussed over though he wouldn't admit it. "Just don't flatten my mane okay dad?" he grins curling bapilly between his fathers frontpaws to be groomed. If his sisters were there well he would flat out struggle, he didn't want them to know he liked to be groomed. He was after all supposed to be a big tough pirate and pirate didn't like to be groomed! or so he thought any way.
grinning broadly when his father said they could go and explore the pridelands he wriggled "hehe when my legs is longer dad, then we can see it all" he grins he liked the thought of exploring just him and his dad.

Mchele smirked to himself. He knew 'Kota fussed like anything when he was groomed in the company of his sisters. And it was tricky to hold onto the black cub when his mind was set to wriggling away. But here, just the two of them together as father and son, he realised that 'Kota didn't mind it. Either he tollorated it when he was alone or he actually liked it. Mchele liked to believe it was the latter.
"Oh no, of course not." He murmered, taking care to make sure the tiny tuff of longer fur on 'Kota's head was well stuck up. A bit of saliva helped it stay in place. "You know, I always liked to look good too. Made sure mum kept me clean and didn't miss a bath. A bit like how you are now. It was my sister that always struggled and tried to get away.... a bit like when you're getting a bath at home hmm?" He raised an eyebrow and gave the cub a smirk.
"And exploring was something she always wanted to do too."

'Kota looked up at his father as he groomed at him looking sheepish he cleared his throat and tried to think up an excuse falling short on the white lies front though he sighed a bit and looked at his paws "It's kinda nice but..Well I'm sposed to be tough and, an a pirtate and stuff and pirates are dirty and things yeah.." He trailed off it wasn't really a good excuse it was just how he felt he should be seen efroe his sisters. Lifting his dark head his jet black orbs fell on his father "Jus' don't tell kilua or trina okay!" he blinked a few times clearing hit throat "they'll think I'm some sort of wimp cause I like bin' groomed" Licking his lips he didn't even realise he'd l;et slip that he enjoyed being cleaned by his parents.
"I wanna explore, maybe one dya I can see the whole world and maybe even the sea! But I'd like to see the whole pridelands first okay dad?" He smiled brightly he was enjoying this alone time with his father immencely.

"Oh I see. Can't be tough and clean at the same time." He gave an understanding nod. Not that it was something he ever really thought, he could see why his son might. Still, it was nice that 'Kota allowed it when they were together by themselves.
"And don't worry, I'll keep it a secret." But it warmed his insides that his son mentioned he did like it, although unintentionally. For a cub of such an unusual colour it was pleasing to see there was still a bit of Mchele in him too.
"The sea? Even I've not seen that. You'll have to tell me about it when you do. But yes, I think exploring the Pridelands is a good place to start. Get some practice for when you're bigger?" Somehow Mchele felt 'Kota was going to grow up to be a big lion well capable of taking care of himself. And while he didn't want to lose his son forever, he understood why his sister Kib had needed to explore out further. The same desire must be in the little black cub too. Hopefully it wouldn't be for a while yet. Not while he was still so small in any case.

'Kota nodded an affirmative. He beleived it was completely true that you had to be a big and scruffy too be tough. This view would probably change as he got older of course, he did like his fur to be in pristine condition though that was his big secret!
"Yu huh, one day when i'm big and I have a black fluff like you dad I'll go and see the sea but I wanna see the whole wide pridelands first and maybe " he paused and whispered "The graveyard!" he blinks a few times "One of the older lions told me it's really scary and full of hyenas!" He grins, scary hyenas sounded like a great adventure! He wouldn't be frightened eitehr! Nope he was a great big lion who could handle anything! So he told himself any way. At least he would be one day any way...

(( Sounds like a good opportunity to do a double SoA rp! Frit and Rasuli meeting Mchele and 'Kota.... ninja ))
Mchele responded with a couple of licks to 'Kota's 'mane' to finish off his bath. "Tell you what, when we get back home if anyone asks why you had your bath already I'll tell them you'd gotten really dirty and I insisted you take a bath immediatly." He grinned. Playing with his son was such fun. It was like being able to be a cub again himself.
He was still grinning when 'Kota began to whisper, but his face grew a little more concerned. "Well that older lion is right you know. It is full of hyenas, and is very dangerous in most places. Hyenas would gobble you up in a second if they caught you...." He tried not to sound too scary but he needed to emphasise the very possible dangers of that place. "I know a couple of spots that aren't so risky - where Uncle Ausha lives, on the edges of that place. If you really wanted to go, I'll show them to you."
While he really didn't want to let 'Kota go exploring there himself, if supervised he would be ok?

((hehe sounds fun! Sorry I'v taken so long btw new job I'm just settling in))
'Kota looked up at his dad and grinned broadly "Thanks dad" He rubbed his cheek against his fathers shoulder and groomed the fur there cleaning away a speck of dust before he turned his gaze up to the brown maned lion whom was his dad.
"Uncle Ausha lives int he graveyard?" the black cub looked surprised, uncle Ausha was big sure, but hyenas were supposed to be huge slobbering dangerous beasts "Uncle Ausha must be very brave to live there!" He stated puffing out his tiny chest to try and make himself look larger than he acctually was. "We can go on an adventure together huh ?" His grin broadens then "and youll kick thwe stuffin' out of those hyenas!" He looked to his father, pure hero worship in those coal black eyes.

(( Soooo sorry about the lag. sad Just been super busy.
How's the new job? And yep, should we start that rp next? ))
Mchele had to supress a laugh at his son's comment regarding Ausha's bravery. He couldn't help but recall his face when he'd been introduced to Mchele's mother. But the Pridelander was sure he had courage in him, the pale lion wanted to go face the gods themselves to find his own cubs again. Not to mention facing the constant dangers of the graveyard.
"He lives close to the edge, the hyenas live further in, in the deeper parts. Or so I'm told. Fortunatly I haven't met any on my visits there to see him." Mchele said. "And yeah, we can go on an adventure to see him someday soon."
The adoring eyes were hard to resist and the adult lion had to resist boastng for his son's sake. "Oh well yeah, if they try to mess with us I certainly will. No one messes with you or me right?"

((sounds great siorry this took me so long to get to TwT! I have been so busy of late new jobs slowly killing me XD!))
'Kota puffed out his tiny chest and he nodded in agreement to his fathers words "Yeah i betcha we can beat lotsa hyenas up , an, I betcha that uncle Ausha will be all like, rawar and stuff" He grins, he had taken a shine to 'uncle Ausha' When he and his sister had met him. Of course he was still oblivious of his fathers relationship with said uncle but it didn't matter, he idolised his father figure he was willing to teach, to explore and to play.
Of course all good things must come to an end and the tiny black cub's mouth opened in a wide white toothed yawn. he licked his lips sleepily rubbing his eyes with the back of his paw "dad, I'm sleepy" he stated simply sitting on his fathers foot paw and leaning his head on his ancle. "can we explore the graveyard tomiorrow?" he grinned, his coal black eyes looking on dreamily.

The young adult looked down at his son, so tiny he could sit on a single paw. And it reminded Mchele of how much he had grown himself. An adult now, with cubs of his own.
"Yes, I think it's time to go home. You'll need your rest before you can go on any big adventures." He gave the black cub a gentle nuzzle on the top of his head. "We'll go see the graveyard soon, I promise." And seeing that his tiny son was close to falling asleep on his feet, Mchele picked him up gently in his jaws, just like any mother lion would, and turned to take them both home.
(( I think we can call that a wrap. wink ))
