HA HA!!!! The power of Phantom is spreading!!!! My friend Luc came over today and I showed him most of the movie... and he said he wanted to buy it so he can see the rest! *grins evilly*

And I found this awesome Musée d'Orsay guidebook. Unfortunately, the scanner that we have doesn't seem to be working right now, so I can't scan in the great page with all the info about the model of the Opera House. *sigh* Guess you'll just have to wait for my pictures.

People wanting pictures: I can't get any pictures until after this weekend. My dad has the camera.

Well, I would say stuff about how this is day nine and everything and I'm going to Liège tomorrow, but sadly my cursed alarm woke me up at 4:30 instead of 8:30 (RAAAAAAAAH!!!!!) so I need to go back to sleep sometime.

More messages soon!

Sadly, I never got back to sleep.
But now I can post, because it's today for most of you too.
*yawn*

*turns on document format*
So, I'm going to have to catch a train at 10:50 AM and go to Liège, Belgium today. There, I'm going to visit the granddaughter of one of my parents' old friends. My dad's also there, and he's coming with us back to Paris tomorrow. Then I'll have the camera and we'll be able to go Phantom touristing and make you all jealous! XD

*yawn*

We'll get back to Paris close to 11 PM tomorrow so I'm not sure if I'll have time to stop at the computer and report in.

FINAL COUNTDOWN: DAY 9

Curse these azerty keyboards! (>)_<

Anyway, we're in Belgium, visiting friends who just happened to let me use their computer.

We visited this one children's bookstore today and I immediately went to the novel section to see if by any chance they had Phantom. Well, they didn't, but they did have another book by Leroux... which I didn't really want to buy... but then something else caught my eye... "OMGERIK." There were some books there by someone named Erik! I took one out and read the back, and then proceeded to buy it. It's amazing what names can do.

I also drew another SpectralFantasy picture and gave it to our hosts. And now... I think I see a mask in the corner of the room. Excuse me while I go sing Masquerade.

EDIT: Oh, I almost forgot! I'm with my dad, and thus with the camera! So as soon as we get back, I'll be able to show you all fabulous pictures!

I just got back from Belgium.

Not much in the way of Phantomy stuff happened today, but I did check the Opéra Garnier hours and they're open tomorrow! YAY! Visiting time! I'll be sure to bring lotsa pictures.

EDIT: Yes, something Phantomy DID happen! When we were visiting one of the "family friends", someone took me down to a piano and left me there. So I played Phantom! (Think of Me, Angel of Music, Phantom song, and some of Music of the Night) The only problem was that it sounded REALLY bad because the piano was way out of tune... AAAKH IT BURNS!!!

By the way...I have pictures to share!
http://i6.tinypic.com/14uevtc.jpg "Well, then I fainted, and Erik put me on a nearby hotel bed..." Just kidding. I was so exhausted that I collapsed on the bed and for some reason asked Dad to take a picture.
http://i5.tinypic.com/14ueyh3.jpg Very bad-looking picture. But it least it has me ranting about how today is day eight.
http://i6.tinypic.com/14uezk3.jpg Me and my new friend Flo.

I hope somebody comes and leaves a comment or something. I've been so lonely here in my topic.

Aw, you're cute Ela. The first picture just screams "Erikpleasekidnapme!" that or "I'm freeking tired!" XD

Really, they didn't have PotO? Sucks. Well, there'll be other bookstores and such in which to see.

FINAL COUNTDOWN: DAY 7
I can feel Phantom coming closer and closer... twisted

Well, today is Garnier day! I'm wearing my yarn rose. <3 So all that we need to do is eat breakfast and get our cartes oranges (that's a Parisian metro/bus ticket that lasts either a month or a week) and then we'll go! WHOOT!

Oh, and we might try to get tickets to see something there. Is it just me or is the entire Opéra National de Paris doing more ballet than opera? sweatdrop

MOO HA HA. I PWN YOU ALL TODAY.
I...just...came...back...from...the...Opera...House.
It was BREATHTAKING!!! From the Grand Staircase to the Grand Foyer to everything else.
I spent a lot of time at the Grand Staircase. Particularly because it was right in the middle of everything else. And because there was a lot of decoration around there.
And the Grand Foyer. That was the most amazing room I had ever seen. It had murals and mirrors and painted ceilings and endless chandeliers and... *rambles on and on*
And then I also spent a bunch of time in the Season Tickets Entrance. I just liked the mirrors (mirrors all around, ahhh!) and the decorations and the fact that it was directly under some of the theater (pretty sure anyway). I kept tapping on the grates to make contact with the underground lake. Once, when my parents thought no one was watching, they asked me to sing "I am your angel of music, come to me angel of music" and I did, hearing a great echo. It turned out that someone was watching, and they told me that I reminded them of the movie.
I wasn't allowed to go into the theater itself, but we got tickets to the Iphigenia opera on Wednesday. Not only will I get to wow you all with the theater pictures, I also will get to go higher into the entrances (we got last-minute tickets on the very top floor I think) so I'll be able to look for the real box five... heh heh heh... I found a box with the number five on it but I don't think it's the real one.
Oh, and I found some Phantom references in the guidebook.

Quote:
Water tank under the Opéra, inspiration for Gaston Leroux's subterranean lake in The Phantom of the Opera.

Quote:
Although it [the chandelier] has never fallen on one of the spectators' heads, one of the counterweights that used to support it came loose and crushed one woman in the audience seated at no. 13 in the fourth balcony. This accident must have inspired Gaston Leroux in one of the most famous episodes of The Phantom of the Opera. Remember, too, that the "phantom's box" was no. 5, the first facing stage right.

Sadly, I never got to go to the lake or the roof. WHY don't they give all-inclusive tours?

PHOTOS!!!

http://i6.tinypic.com/14wd37b.jpg Season Tickets room. The people in the middle are my mom and dad. XD
http://i6.tinypic.com/14wd62p.jpg Garnier signed the ceiling of the Season Tickets room. In a circle.
http://i6.tinypic.com/14wd7qa.jpg Garnier designed these urns himself!
Tinypic just quit on me, so I switched to ImageShack.
http://img352.imageshack.us/img352/1711/dscn25787hp.jpg BEWARE!!!!
http://img352.imageshack.us/img352/2364/dscn25791ty.jpg The library. Lots of opera.
http://img352.imageshack.us/img352/3564/dscn25865iy.jpg Fanciest room ever!: Le Grand Foyer.
http://img352.imageshack.us/img352/816/dscn25934xe.jpg The Salon du Soleil. Sadly, I didn't get a good picture of the Salon de la Lune because the absence of flash made it look bad.
http://img525.imageshack.us/img525/476/dscn25945xx.jpg The Refreshments room, chandelier et al.
http://img122.imageshack.us/img122/8421/dscn25994vx.jpg Mom and me above the Grand Staircase.
http://img459.imageshack.us/img459/1019/dscn26117sw.jpg Garnier's memorial thing and the imperial entrance.

Well, that's all I'm going to post for now. I'm about to go to the Best Place in Paris, on the Ile St-Louis.

Oh wow. The pictures were great! It just makes me wish I could go. Though, I'd end up being lost because my French is minimal (yay for taking French this coming school year!).

I died laughing at the first picture because of the bus with the advert for Scary Movie 4 XD

Wow. It's amazing and beautiful! I'll need to go there now, I guess. If it looks that grand in pictures, imagine what it looks like in person!

ENVYENVY.

It's so pretty! I'd never be able to go to Paris. The closest thing that I can get to was The Paris in Las Vegas. I didn't notice that it was supposed to be a partial replica of the Opera Garnier until I looked directly at it.

( I still don't understand why Phantom was playing at the Venetian and not in the Paris)
