What makes me goth? The fact that I like all those morbid and scary horror/ vampire films that were in black and white. At least, that's what I think makes me a goth. (o-0)

what makes me goth? hmm.. what makes me goth is:
That i love the literature and attempt to write my own.
I can't live without the music
I live to dance with the darkness and all the hell she brings
I live to Prance around and do my weirdo things
i go to the darkness willingly begging her to be my friend
I will love the nothingness of her till my fateful end
(wow i wrote a poem and i didn't realize it....weird)
Stereotypical reasons:
I wear black
I used to cutt and still occasionally(sp?) do
I was suicidal and sometimes i still am

things that make me gothic:
i hate the sun, i hate wearing colors, i have a dark sense of humor, i like roch/goth music, almost nothing scares me, i like being diffrent, i hate this world, my poems are dark, i like dark things, i like the supernatural, i like goths...and everyone says im gothic, so i must be gothic... rolleyes

What makes me goth is:
-Writing depressing poems,
-OBSESSED with Gothic Rock/Metal
-Obsessed with Horror Movies and RLLY gory movies
-My hate for the light
-I love the darkness
-the taste of blood is So Awesome
-I have a Chain Collection
-My closet is full of Black clothin and Tripp NYC pants
-I like to be alone in a rlly dark room listening to some Death Metal...

I don't call myself goth because I'm more than just the stereotype (I laugh and goof off). But, well for the stereotype, here's my reasons:
-I liked the style when I was in elementary.
-I've been reading James Patterson, Stephen King, and a few other others I can't remember right now since I was in 2nd grade.
-I love researching the unusual (vampires, werewolves, golem, spirits, etc).
-I wear lots of dark colors (but I wear light colors, too. I can not give up yellow for anything).
-I spend lots of time alone, in my room, in the dark.
-I'm an insomniac.
-I'm somewhat anti-social (not completely).
-I dye my hair.
-I write "dark" and political poetry.
-I write stories of murder and sex (only a few inappropriate scenes... who am I kidding,about 10 out of the already 50 chapters in my current project is sexual).
-My eyes are light sensitive.
-I listen to metal, industrial, and british punk (among a few other genres... emo not included but ska is).
-I like to scare people.
-Halloween is my favourite holiday.
-I love to walk in the dark.
-Blood is awsome, unless it has some sort of disease.
-I'm somewhat pale (I have a tan now. I'm 1/4 mexican, so getting dark is kinda unavoidable for me).
-I have dark blue-grey eyes.
-I have longish canines (would have been longer if they weren't trimmed).
-I read... a lot.
Yeah, a whole shitload of stereotypical things. Like I said, there is sooooo much more to me than just that.

I was into dark literature & bands since I was a little kid. I didn't know this was considered "abnormal" by some parents. Through the years I have been getting dressed in dark clothes & I loved to watch scary movies. Then I realized I was a "darkie".

I'm always pissed
I love the color black(way too much)
I'm always writing gothic poetry
Most of my life has a lot of gothic moments
I love horror movies and dark movies
I hate the sun
I love dead stuff. evil twisted ninja mrgreen
I love the darkness
My favorite holiday is halloween

I absolutely hate the sun light, darkness is the way I live. Since it's summer now, I don't come out till night. I wear tripp, tactical boots, and black band shirts. I wear wrist cuffs and I like weapons. Horror movies are great and I laugh at sadistic stuff. My wallet chain is a 3 foot long tow chain, 2000lbs tested. I love the taste of blood. Metal is my life. The only books I'll ever read are about psychopaths and how they murdered their victims. I am going on 5 years of sever depression though it has went down a lot. I have a 00 in my left ear and I plan on getting many tattoos. When people first see me they seem to be afraid.

I don't know if I have the eloquence to explain why I beleive I'm a goth. I don't know, I just am dammit. ^^
I suppose the facination with dark art, the interest in reading about various religions, and the morbid sense of humour might do it.

1) My interest in the occult and strange
2) I wear dark colors (I don't have enough black ^^)
3) I'm different and people (mainly girls) hate me. To f**k with them!
4) I have a sadistic sense of humor
5) I can go through Rotten.com without even flinching.
6) I don't like the sunlight (hurts my eyes)
7) I could be on the computer all day

I love things that are dark (clothing, writing, music, shows etc.).
I never really liked the sun (I always sneeze every time I come out).
I write angst poetry even when I fee fine.
I love the paranormal and things dealing with spirits and demons.

As for what makes me gothic, I'd have to say it lies heavily in attitude and philosophy.
For one I've always been creative in nature and have had a deep appreciation for the arts. Along with this is my appreciation for the darker sides of the arts. I'm the type who can appreciate the lightness and gaiety expressed in impressionist pieces just as much as I can appreciate many of the dark and morbid works of art which were created in the plague-ravaged Europe of the Middle Ages. Tied into this is my overall manner of thinking in terms of beauty as well as life. I believe that if you only look, beauty can be found in everything, whether it be a delicate flower or dirty and broken candlestick, the pleasant laugh of a child playing outside on a warm summers day or the deep gaze of a woman who can all but feel the chilled breath of the angel of death caressing her spine. This sense of beauty, to many may seem morbid, yet to me, as both a romantigoth and an artist, is merely a fact of life. Laced into this is my understanding and respect for the duality of life. Darkness cannot exist without light. Light cannot exist without darkness. Within each lies both purpose and beauty, and we must come to terms with this. Many choose to hide from the darkness of life, yet I openly acknowledge, and even embrace its existence, though I acknowledge light in the same way. I may not be a very dark soul, but unlike many people in the world today I do embrace both darkness and light in their fullness.
Another thing which I appreciate is some of the classical literature which may be considered 'gothic', such as the works of Poe, though I also have a deep appreciation for other authors as well, both gothic and not; authors such as Shakespeare, Marlowe, Nabokov, Leroux, and Orwell, just to name a few. I prefer literature which isn't necessarily dark and morbid, but literature which make you think about and reflect upon certain things... though to be quite honest I'll read just about any book that’s thrown at me, even if it's a book of poor vocabulary and no actual substance.
On top of all of that I am quite a curious soul, though my curiosity often pertains to things which are either huh-hush subjects or things a bit morbid in nature. I am extremely curious when it comes to deadly diseases, old forms of surgery and corpse preservation, as well as herbal drugs and medicine (though I myself do not use herbs for recreational purposes... but I can give you a decent-length list of 'fun' herbs despite that). I'm also curious about lots of other stuff too... such as nature, space, philosophy, death, history, holistics, occult things, physics... heck, the list goes on and on! Erm... let's just say that I'm an intellectual who harbors within her a darker side and leave it at that that, shall we? ^^;;
Alongside this, I tend to have a more morbid and subtle sense of humor that most. I prefer sarcasm to flat-out humor, as well as subtle notes pertaining to the humor of a situation. I'll also take a satirical stance on things at times. I'm more subtle than most, but when people actually understand my humor they are occasionally appalled by it for being so morbid.
Most of the other stuff which makes me oh-so-gothy is merely stereotypical stuff which I don't feel is all to important to the fact that I classify as gothic. I wear largely black, with lots of velvet, lace, ruffles, and corsets. I listen to a lot of gothic, darkwave, and industrial bands, though I do listen to other stuff as well. I think gargoyles and dragons are pretty and have a collection of them in my room. It takes a hell of a lot to creep me out or scare me. I prefer candlelight to lightbulb light or sunlight. I also have insomnia, but it's a frucking medical condition and has nothing to do with being a goth. On top of that I'm pagan, but that too has absolutely nothing to do with being gothy... it's just where I found my own personal path in terms of religion.
I fit a lot of the stereotypical things, but I'd have to say that my gothyness lies mainly within my nature.
