Lindy watched as the kids run to Renzo and hug his leg then she leans out and throws a friendly "V" with her fingers, "Well well...if it isnt old man Renzo.", she let out a giggle as her eyes followed him. Danny who was knew and didnt know of Renzo leaned over to Eliza who shrunk away a little, "They know each other?", Eliza pushed Danny away a little then spoke in a low voice to him, "Yeah, I think they belonged to the ASDF but Renzo and company left. What their relationship is between them is a good guess as mine.". Danny and Eliza waved when Renzo gave them the nod. After he speaks Lindy raises an eyebrow then places her elbows on the table then rests her chin on her hands, "Oh, a favor? What's an ace pilot like yourself need us for? This better not be another one of your silly pranks, last time you scared the bloody mary out of me!", she was referring to a supposed solo recon mission in a demilitarized zone (just go with it), everything was going fine until her Silpheed was painted by a dozen SAM's followed by a bogey at her 6 who turned out to be Renzo. He later received a nice red hand mark on his left cheek afterwards.

Everyone waited for more information on this "favor", some eager to get in the air and others just for the hell of it, after all mercenaries have to take what they are given, then again...anything beats being stuck inside a ship for a long period of time.

Now ensconced in his cramped cabin in the MFB, Guardian sat and read Renzo's response, then stretched.... and cursed up a storm, as he stubbed his toe rather forcefully against the far wall. He liked his job, but sometimes... he had to wonder about his own sanity. Rubbing his offended digit he set aside the Message and started hunting for socks. After all, it was harder to stub your toe if it was surrounded by leather and metallic plating. After the quest for socks was completed, and his feet were once more "protected" from the vile stubbing of toes, he left his cabin and went down the short hall to one of the outer doors. Neglecting the folding steps, he simply dropped the two meters to the ground. Blinking as his eyes adjusted to the deepening dusk, he headed off towards the heavy tents set up for the Other members of the salvage team... After all, the beer should be arriving soon and he fully intended to get his share, and join in the raucous singing and revelry that would surely follow. If the one old-timer was there, he'd love to have a talk with him, after all, he sounded stable-headed... and it was always good to have friends like that.

Renzo chuckled a bit then replied cooly, "Naw, we have video to watch that over and over when we need a good laugh. Actually, I need you to go and bring Kenosha back."

He takes a swig from a small container then continues, "It's quite serious, we believe he's probably gotten himself trapped on Plane 5027Z... or Metallic Plane we like to call it, while searching for salvage. Though there's even more to this rescue mission than you think which is why we're gonna need YOU to contact whatever 'good friends' he has to get him out... believe me, you might need the help." From the sound of it there's something he's hinting at, but he stands, "I sent a message to Guardian, so you make sure to contact him. After that Yakima will brief you on what we have gathered so far."

The children seem to have become tired as they lean on him sleepily. "Well, looks like I should get these youngins to bed." He then stands and tosses everyone a nod before lifting a child in each arm to carry them out.

Lindy kept quiet as Renzo explained the situation, the other pilots whispered among themselves when they heard that Kenosha needed rescue. He didnt seem like the kind that would need help when he got into trouble, then again, everyone has their limits.

Lindy raises an eyebrow when Renzo stresses the word 'YOU' then blinks after 'good friends', "The only friends I know of that he knows are the people in the ASDF...Im not sure I want to show my face there...", she thought to herself then focused as she heard Guardian's name and Yakima's, she stood up and saluted taking this matter very seriously, "Yes sir! I'll contact him before the night is over.". Eliza, Danny, and a few others stood up as well and saluted Renzo as he left then turned to Lindy and gave the thumbs up, "We're with you all the way Captain!", Eliza commented.

Everyone finishes their meals then head to their sleeping quarters, after taking a shower and changing into her PJ's she sits on her bed while holding onto the portable communicator that each member of the Torama wears on their wrists. She presses a small button on the side and a small holo-keyboard appears then begins typing up a private message for Guardian.

PM
To: Guardian Knight
From: Lindy Knightstar
Subject: MIA-Kenosha

I was just informed by Renzo that I should contact you concerning an upcoming mission. Im guessing your squad and mine will be teamed up for this so dont get drunk so much like you always do, tomorrow morning will be the debriefing with Yakima.

Later in the evening...

Sitting in one of the tents, listening to one of the technicians recount some of the days tales (especially about a junior member, who became so enamored with the 'hind end, of one of his female co-workers, he ran into a wall...) Guardian set down a large, battered, yet faithful metal mug with the barest remains of the beer that once filled it, and gave a start as his wrist com started its discreet throbbing vibration, signalling an incoming message. "Hold on guys and gals... gotta step out, someone's ringin me up..." he waved the wrist comm at them and grinned as he got up and headed outside.

Listening to the technicians laughing, and yet again ribbing the poor junior tech for his mishap, he pressed the small switch on the side of the wrist unit, turning on its holographic display and moving his hand through the interface floating above his arm to open the new message. Taking it in quickly, he raised his eyebrows, and started working on a reply with the holo-keyboard.
Quote:

To: Lindy
From: Guardian
Subject: MIA-Kenosha

Kenosha is missing? Still don't know him too well, but I'd be glad to lend a hand. As to my "squad" well, they're not combat units.... salvage and recovery, thats their job. However, I'm very much up for it, so, I guess I'll see you at the briefing tomorrow.... Have to leave some standing orders here, but, things should be calm enough without me.

PS: Despite your belief's, its very hard for me to get drunk... so.. NYEH!

After sending off the reply, Guardian shut off his wrist comm and stretched, he had better get some sleep if he was gonna make it to the briefing... but first, he had to make arrangements for the salvage teams to keep working. Always more work, but that was life. Sticking his head back into the tent, he made his apologies and bid those inside goodnight, before making his way back to the MFB and his small cabin by moonlight.

Despite the lack of a sun, the plane slowly becomes more light like that of a morning glow. However, as most members and crew are slowly getting up Renzo and Yakima sit in the conference room in complete silence, yet somehow a conversation progressing.

"So then today they'll stop by and you will brief them on the current situation."

"I see... although we both know what this is about, so why pull him out this early?"

"In actuality, it's not so much concerning his return as it is... this list."

*a moment of silence as both close their eyes then Yakima blinks some*

"You can't be serious..."

"Oh but I am, and this is why we need Kenosha's /friends/ from the ASDF for this, it's a bit out of our league."

"Hrmph, I get your drift... well, that Eileen or whatever her name was a HS ex or something, though he's told me they're still on good terms. He never really went into detail with Nida and Sheriff Griff Im sure I could talk her into it if need be."

"Make it so then, I think with Strawberry and Guardian they'll be able to manage and hopefully find some good material we can use."

"Well then, guess I better start preparing for the 'briefing'. Though you're not going to have them go after 'it' are you?"

Renzo stands and starts to head out, the first sound finally coming forth as he says, "I guess we'll leave that up to Keno." he grins.

What little light represented the sun in this world shone through the thick glass panel of Lindy's room which awoke her. Groaning softly she rolled over on her side only to fall off her bed, "...", and laid there motionless for a few seconds then gets up, "I have to break that habit..." Lindy says as she rubs her forehead while walking into the bathroom to wash her face and do all the morning things.

20 minutes later she walks out with a brush in her left hand and approaches the closet then takes out her uniform, "Wish I could just go to the briefing in my PJ's...too lazy to change...", she says while yawning big. Lindy hangs the uniform on a hook that sticks out from one of the closet doors and begins changing. She pauses several times, each time closing her eyes then snapping awake again, "I REALLY hate mornings.". Once finished putting on her uniform she picks up her wrist com and slaps it on thenbegins to brush her long hair as she walks out of her sleeping quarters, locking automatically behind her.

Her mind drifts off into thoughts about the details of this mission while walking to the briefing room, hopefully Guardian is already on his way over there as well. The corridors were still empty as mostly everyone was either getting up or in the cafeteria getting breakfast, fortunately for Lindy, today it was boiled eggs, 3 slices of bacon, grits and toast...something she wasnt too fond of.

Having climbed out of his cramped bed, well before sunrise had even been a glimmer on the eastern Horizon, Guardian now sat in the command chair of his wolverine, finishing instructing the (somewhat hungover) crew chiefs on the days activities, and that the wreck's reactor was to be removed, and hauled through the portal for the technicians there to take a closer look. It never hurt to be thorough.... even if the core was smashed up pretty bad. They simply didn't have the equipment here to dismantle it and get to the deepest inner workings, which -might- still be usable. After that final task was done, he disengaged the clamps holding the Wolverine in the gantry, and slowly pushed the machine forward. Still without any appreciable sunlight, Guardian walked the mech out of the pool of glowing incandescence made by the MFB's floodlamps, and turned on his own forward lights. Crossing the short distance to where the portal was to be, took only a few minutes, Waiting for the portal to open after sending his activation code through his wrist-comm system, took even less time.

By the time the sun would have been rising above the horizon back at the MFB, Guardian's wolverine was kneeling next to the OSE. Leaving it on powered down standby, he climbed from the hatch, clad in the classic mechwarrior's tight shorts and cooling vest (with heavy mid calf boots... sporting black spurs), with his neurohelm cradled under his left arm. After consulting with a wall map once onboard the ship, he promptly got turned around, and finally ran into an early rising tech, who gave him proper directions (around some areas still in repair) which led him right to the conference room door, where he knocked politely while stifling a yawn.

Lindy made a turn at the next hallway then noticed a big tall man standing outside the conference room door, she sighed and continued walking towards the man, "Knock knock." Lindy said as she made her way past the big man and opened the door and made her way in taking notice of Renzo's presence as well. "Its a little too early in the morning to see your funky mug Renzo...", giving a smile to both Yakima and Renzo as she took a seat placing her hands on the cold metal table.

As Lindy makes her 'entrance' Renzo and Yakima are sitting down and then he smirks in reply, "Yes, it's too early because normally at this time you'd be up making my breakf..." he gets a hard nudge from Yakima and coughs, "Ah yes, well... anyway..." he nods to Guardian, "Come on in, there's coffee, cream, sugar, irish cream so help yourself."

Yakima stands up and puts on a pair of glasses, "Down to business then. A few weeks ago we sent Kenosha to the plane of metal to scout the area, unfortunately he hasnt returned and neither of us can contact him although his psyche is still pulsing." She places a folder in front of Lindy and Guardian's seat. "We have reason to believe he's gotten himself in trouble. The Metallic Plane is very new to us, meaning we're not sure what to expect there in terms of life, surroundings and whatnot, so in a sense it's an opportunity to collect data while on the rescue mission."

Renzo stands as Yakima sits, "We want you two to make a trip to ASDF to speak with two people who appearantly meant a lot to Kenosha. Not only do we need the help, but it's also a good opportunity to see just what the ASDF is capable of in such an unknown setting... we'll there members at least. We're not sure if they'll commit any sorta help as an organization which is why we're making personal appeals at first. The two people to talk to are Eileen Patterson and Nida Rocheron. IF they are busy with ASDF matters that's fine, assist if you can if not then come on back and we'll consider our options."

Yakima asks, "Any questions?"

As Lindy went in, Guardian rolled his eyes back in his head and made a face at her, then grinned as he followed her in. Nodding to Yakima and Renzo, before snapping a sharp military salute, he makes his way over to the coffee and pulls out of of the larger mugs. Mornings, were not his time of day, never had been, and never would be... so he starts mixing up his "high-octane" breakfast-drink...

Mixing 16 packets of sugar, two of creamer, and the rest Coffee... he takes a satisfied sip, and leans against the wall, cradling the cup in one of his massive hands as he listens.

"So, we're supposed to enlist the aid of these people? I hope Lindy knows them... I suck at dealing with people I don't know. Other than that, well, it sounds interesting. When do we leave?" He chuckles and sips from his coffee some more, flashing his genial and laid-back grin as usual.
PostPosted: Sun Jun 25, 2006 10:51 pm

Lindy opens the folder and browses through the papers inserted within while listening to Yakima speak, in a low voice she speaks to herself, "Eileen...either Im just imagining things or that name sounds familiar but this Nida person...I dont remember ever hearing about her. Then again my memory of the ASDF is vauge..." she knocks on her head and sticks her tounge out slightly, "I've taken one too many hits on the noggin". Rolling her eyes at Guardians comment she adds, "Practice makes perfect sir. You cant expect to get a girl to fall for you on the first day, well ok sometimes it does happen but when it doesnt you just have to keep trying. The same applies with meeting new people."

Lindy's attention then turns to Yakima and raises her hand, "Yes I have a few questions...one..." she uses hand gestures while talking, "Kenosha is there and we are over here, I have a fighter and Guardian has a mech. How are we supposed to get over there when one of us has flight capability and the other doesnt." pauses for a while then resumes, "Unless we are going to use a transport ship?". It would definately have to be a transport ship and perhaps she would serve as air support and recon while Guardian was the muscle and from the sound of things, they were going to need alot of muscle just to get there. "I'd like to also note that I might get arrested for abandoning this ASDF and joining you guys if I show up...or they might shoot me thinking Im a ghost or a zombie." Lindy chuckles goofily at her last comment then straightens her face.

Renzo nods slightly to Guardian, "We're hoping they'd find in in their heart to help, so appeal to that... they ARE both women you know." Yes, a slight shot at the other sex with a chuckle thrown in the ladies direction. "As soon as you get the yes or no from them you can head out as soon as you wish." He then glances at Lindy with an expectant look, "Which is exactly why we choose you to lead this, what better opportunity to tie up any loose ends dont you think?" he smirks some then continues, "As far as getting over there that will not be a problem since we have the coordinates and enough juice to force open a portal there. Both of your mecha should be able to travel fine although you're bound to draw some attention, whether wanted or unwanted. Anyway, you two are pros and I have full faith you can handle anything that pops up."

Yakima interjects, "If I may also note, there will be a time limit of how long you can stay there. I mean, right now the conditions are perfect to open the proper gate there... but spend too much time and despite having the coordinates we 'might' have trouble getting you back. I'd guestimate say... 24 hours our time to find Kenosha and get back to the portal point. Fret not though, we're working on a device to track his mental signature."
PostPosted: Tue Jul 04, 2006 10:39 am

Lindy nods, "Ok well a time limit shouldnt be a problem as long as you can get that gizmo working before we get across. I'd hate to search for someone using a souped up metal detector in an area unmapped and with a day's worth.". Closing the folder and setting it back down on the table she asks, "You arent going to want a souvenier from there are you?" her eyes gazing to Yakima and Renzo with a wide grin. Her mind was already set in tourist mode, thinking of what recording devices she should bring.

(( s**t s**t s**t... sorry for the delay, been busy as hell in the past lil bit. sweatdrop ))

Guardian grinned knowingly at Renzo's comment, and listened intently. The plan sounded good to him, and sounded like a welcome change of pace. He loved his job yeah, but sometimes, a little more excitement than techs having mishaps would definitely be in order.

"As Lindy says get us the Gizmo, and we'll get Kenosha, but that gizmo won't help us with the ASDF. Also, are you sure we should go in with heavy hardware? They might not take too kindly to having a battlemech and fighter kicking in their door just on a 'social' call. I could get my Bike.... but you know what that means... a certain slim young lady would have to ride behind me... unless she has her own wheels." He punctuates the last sentence with a grin and takes a loooooong finishing gulp of his coffee and sets the mug down.
