A laugh escaped from Loki's lips. "At least you got the breed right... but let's see if you can even touch me..." Taking a step back, Loki barked another laugh, though this one was hollow.
"Lue," He spoke, flipping open the door to his lantern. With a whoosh of flame, Lue appeared in front of Loki, much larger than before.
Red Lizard meet Hound of the Baskervilles, baby.

Demare could hardly contain his excitement. This was going to be fun. He hadn't had a real fight since he was attacked by those creatures in the shop Micheal had come from.
"Didn't your mother ever tell you not to turn your back on the enemy?" he questioned, his two red eyes opening above his right. "Shadows, come out and PLAY with our friend."
From the darkness behind Loki, crawling out from the shadows his flame was causing, a unrecognizable creature prowled a little bit before ramming its large body right into the hyena boy. Its eyes were glowing red, the form having animalistic traits for its body, and whatever it was... was very heavy. The monster was drooling badly, its dark claws digging into the ground by Loki, not even bothering to pin the boy. The light from the fire didn't seem to affect it; it was almost as if the light were being eatten away.

"Gotta exorcise-"
"No." Lue cut him off, baring his teeth. "This is not a spirit. I do not know if I can handle it... but I will try." A paw raised, and then slammed down onto the earth, sending a large fire wave at the beast. He had to protect Loki while Loki recovered himself. Or at least buy time for him to attack Demare head on...

The large beast snarled and roared, spit flying from its mouth as it breathed the fire away. Its blackened teeth were jagged and sharp, its breaths heavy and heaving. It was almost as if it were in some sort of beserked state of mind. The creature began to take slow steps forward, the ground shaking a little bit every time a clawed paw hit the ground.
"That thing's pretty smart," Demare smirked. "He's right... This isn't a spirit. It's not even really living."
A low growl emitted from the shadow's throat, its eyes seeming to be fixated on the lizard.
"However, this fight... is between you and me," he purred.
The creature lifted a heavy arm and swung it hard at Lue.
"Alone."

Yelping and growing smaller to avoid the paw, Lue skittered off in a winding path, leading the beast away from them.
Rising, Loki grimaced, brushing himself off. "So your expertise is shadows... intriguing." Loki glanced around, grimacing. He hadn't picked the best spot, with trees overshadowing and providing shadow... but he had his scarf, and he had his lantern, and his book... but the only thing within reach and currently useable was his scarf, at the moment.
He'd have to make due.

The beast made its way after Lue, seeming to have no interest in Loki whatsoever.
"It's not just my expertise," he stated, waiting for Loki to make his move. Since the beast had attacked the hyena boy, he felt that it was only fair for the boy to get his barrings again. "I live in them. I am a part of them. I'm just... humanized to fit in more with this derranged world. Thing is, no light can hurt me but one... In a sense, anyway."

"Heh. A riddle is as a riddle does, eh?" Loki mocked, that cheeky grin of his returning. Ah, how good the flames felt upon his skin! They rose from his scarf, almost making it seem like the hyena boy himself was a bonfire.
A step was taken forward, and then another. He was curious, really... since the scarf had burned Demare in the daytime... could it hurt him at night? Perhaps... perhaps Loki saw more than he was letting on.

Demare didn't move as Loki made his way closer, enjoying the heat of the flames. Ah, it reminded him of so long ago... when he lived in the realm of demons while he was alive. The burning heat of his surroundings, hiding in the darkness as fire lived on without its light. It was true, what he read in one of Neko's books; fire had attributes of both darkness and light. Its character belonged to the darkness, while its body belonged to the light.
So to which did Loki belong to?

Loki considered himself to belong to neither; he was always neutral, causing his own mischief and then fixing it when others caught him at what he was doing. What a pain, really.
At nighttime, Demare was a threat. At day... there had been that one instance - if he hadn't been ganged up on... a scowl crossed his face. Damn that Mayu. At least he had put her in her place just days before.
"Heh." Curling his hand, he allowed his fingers to meet his palm, before throwing out a flame at Demare. A test of power, seeing how much one could deal out, and one could take.
Loki was sick of being a kid. Sick of being considered weak. Sick of losing...

The halfling brought up a hand and batted at the flame, some sort of black mist covering the flesh as if it were trying to protect him from being burned. The "mist" faded away once the fire was gone, something beginning to dance along the ground in the shadows at Demare's feet. It was hard to see what it was, however, being mixed in with his black lower clothing.
"What the ******** are you waiting for?" he frowned, not at all impressed with the way Loki seemed to be going about things. He was losing what little patience he had.

"If only you knew," Loki muttered, that smirk of his widening. Another one was cast, though this one smaller than before.

Demare deflected the flame with his dagger this time, ignoring Mordanath's cries.
"You're starting to piss me off, puppy," he muttered, his eyes narrowing down into slits.

"You're getting the point, halfa," He replied, giving a laugh. "But, if you wish to stop, oh... say... dicking around..." Stroking his scarf, Loki opened his mouth as he unleashed a gigantic wave of fire at Demare, using that as a cover to rush in closer for a body-to-body attack.

Demare threw his hands toward the ground, his red eyes glowing brightly. Black fire began to rise up toward the sky, flickering and spitting as it began to form a wall to catch the real fire. If he could get most of it, that would be fine. A good fight always came with pain, after all, and that was the joy of it all. Something to show how worthy the fight was.
He did not expect Loki to come rushing at him, however, and the boy had plowed right into him, causing him to fall over. Mordanath flew out from his hand and landed blade-side down in the ground neayby, just out of reach for either of them.
"THAT'S more like it!" the demon sneered, almost laughing. He kicked Loki off of him, quite pleased.

Rolling to the side a few feet, Loki kicked off from the ground again, grabbing whatever he could reach and sinking his teeth into it. He now knew what he dealt with... fire against fire, so normal attacks would have to do. His crimson eyes remained determined, still holding that spark of mischief inside them, but now also holding that bit of defiance, as well as stubbornness...
And Loki wasn't playing for cheap shots anymore, either.
