what?! ^^ totally off the point?! whats the point in that ?

my thoughts on training with the opposite sex....why not?! I dont hit a guy harder than Id hit a girl...when it comes down to it...Im fighting an opponent not a girl or a boy...we are all there because we want to be...who knows what real life sitaution U might be in with either sex...
I back off my step Dad a bit or he kicks me to hard...my friend whos crap I dont hit I try and coach her...my boyfriend...I beat him up!
they are opponents-- u wouldnt think about it if someone male or female was about to hit you over the head with a broken bottle....

well I wouldnt...
I can understand a guy hesitating and maybe being easier on a girl....thats that whole stupid "cant hit a girl thing -- which I understand but dont agree with simple as.

As a female instructor (in Tae Kwon Do) this issue hits hard and even more so when it is discovered that I'm only 19. My children classes are packed but my adult classes consist of higher ranks that have sparred me without holding back and women. The older male members have learned that they better not hold back and even tease me by saying "Yes sir" instead of "Yes ma'am" because I'm one of the only a few female members like this.
However, it is extremely difficult to get new male members in class because men just don't want to learn from a tiny teenage girl for one reason or another.
Personally guys the men that is do teach just had to be beaten into that fact that in sparring, grappling, joint locks, whatever. What you need to do is go out and grapple a girl that if you loose focus and slip up could easily beat you.
Course, I'm not a guy but its a suggestion.

I have no enemies, and the people I train with are most certainly not my enemies. They're all friends.

I am not saying ur opponent are enemies i am just saying when u fight u fight to win...right? that is wat u should be thinking in a fight...to win.i don't think much of my opponents(includeing friends) i fight to win nothing else, but when u fight just don't hold any grudges or hate in a match(that is wat is going in my mind when i fight.

Mostly, the guys that I fight with respect me for wanting to fight full force. I mean, what's the use if you learn it at half force? You won't be able to use full force in real life if needed. Meh...

This week we learnt a new technique my sparring partner and I refer to as the "hugging technique" xd (We have our own names to remember the techniques...)

Anyway, it begins with someone holding you, arms around you on the front, and then the victim hitting the person in the jewels (if they have some). Followed by some more painful stuff whee It was fun sweatdrop

I don't find it makes any differnece whether i'm fighting a guy or a girl. But I absolutly hate it when someone goes easy on me. I know why they do. I'm short, (i can pass for 12 but i'm 15) and I'm a girl, but it really doesn't help my training when someone goes easy on me now does it?

to be honest, and i hope most of u think like me (if not than i take it back), overall men are stronger than women, and if u spar with a woman u must usually hold back. it is simply common sense. on the other hand if the girl is 6'3 and weighs 200 pounds, im sure ull be ok going full power.

You may not, but I will. If thats how you feel about women in the ring, your a dumbass, a pure and simple dumbass. now, don't get me wrong guys are usually built stronger, but that doesn't mean that the female your sparring against can't kick your a**, I've gone against alot of girls and when were doing conditioning drills they can take alot from me, Meowmeows knows roughly how hard I can kick(and I mean that from drills, not the concusion I gave you BY ACCIDENT) and has gone on to kicking someone else's a** minutes later in the ring without a slightest bit of painon her face. now she may be a good actress(probably not) but she's also a...how do I put this, Smaller person, not a midget, just not your definition of a large women(6'3 200lbs) I think she's about 5'6 and weight I'm not sure, though she's pretty light from what I remember, now I was probably about 5'11 to 6' at the time of these and probably about 150-170lbs(not sure, weight varies on the day...lol, some days I eat alot, some days I don't but I always have energy) and most of my weight is leg muscle as I found out in fitness class up in the weight room... and shes defiantly not the only one who can take kicks like that their, theres others, just not sure if they are on gaia or not.

Hahaha. lol Tell that to the guys I repeatidly beat in sparring matches. They got so sick of holding back that they fought me full force and I still crushed them thank you very much. And I'm 5'7" and like 115-120 lbs. So I wouldn't exactly qualify myself as large, considering everyone I spar at the dojo is male, and they are bigger than me. It's not simply common sense to hold back when fighting a girl, if you used common sense, well, then you wouldn't have made that statement.

Regardless of whatever stereotype you believe, if you're holding back when training with a woman, all you're doing is depriving her. She's going to get into a match where the guy ISN'T holding back and get her butt kicked because you spent all your time training going half-a**. Do us a favor and TRY to go full power regardless of size. A lot of girls don't look as strong as they are.

wow wow relax eveyone i didnt know this would start such an argument. first of all i would like to apologize if i hurt anyone's feelings, everyone should enjoy this forum smile . second of all i would just like to point out that perhaps we are talking about different areas of martial arts. the only thing i have ever done was boxing, so from my experience if your a guy you should not swing as hard as you can at a girl during sparring. once again i am not saying this about all girls, since i have seen girls in my boxing gym who can take down walls with a punch, but when i saw a sparring match between this guy and girl in my gym, and how his punch connected in her face, causing her to bleed for about 10 minutes from her nose and mouth, and then watching her run away crying, and then never seeing her again in that gym, u gotta understand where im coming from. and that woman was insanely strong too. also, i guess i dont really have much to say since i have never sparred with a girl before. just a reminder i was talking about BOXING, so i apologize for the misunderstanding. now as for blondiebabe135 asking me not to hold back once, i assume u did not know i was talking about boxing, if not than i apologize.

i hope this clears everything up. again i did not mean to offend anyone. sweatdrop

If you never sparred a girl yourself you probably shouldn't jump to such conclusions. Who knows... you may have had the same reaction to the that particular hit. Most men do react in similar way when they bleed like that. Besides, the girls(or anyone for that matter) that really spar hardcore aren't just powerful. These girls work with their strengths in matches and they ones that truly love it are the ones that'll take that hit and get right back in the match. This is going to sound cheesy but you need skill, strength, speed, and dedictation to be a truly great martial artist. Anyone lacking in dedictation is usually just there to hit something.
