Suddenly, a different voice came up over the comm, the voice of Colonel Dodonna.
"Attention all wings, we will now begin your basic training, though all of you may already know this information, I am required to test you on this. First off, I need to test your piloting abilities. Not far from your current position is a rock canyon known as Beggar's Canyon. Your first goal will be to fly through the canyon while taking only minimal damage to your hopper. Good Luck."
As the boice dissolved into static, Kefka boosted up and leveled out. He knew exactly where Beggar's Canyon was and dialed up his throttle and pulled forward, sending his hopper on a bullet-streak towards the Canyon.

Jarik pulled up on Kef's left wing as they sped towards the Infamous rock formation."Begger's Canyon huh? dosen't sound so tough. I hear the local bush pilots do this run all the time. And if a bunch of Moisture hicks can do it, it should be a Ryshcate(sp?) run for us. well at least for me. don't know about you though." He joked. as they came up on the canyon, he radeoed Kef again."Chandrilans first. I insist."

((Don't you guys ever read? You've done like half the maneuvers i've posted, not even using their names... I did that to simplify things a bit. And FP, if you're upside down, and you pull up, you go to the ground. Darn my obsession with Air combat and maneuvers... now I'll be correcting everyone...))
Icharus had sat back and watched the bumbling idiots do their job, as he listened to the recording of the Colonel's voice play a training tape. Seeing as how they were too busy with themselves, he dropped from an altitude of 5000 meters into the canyon, blasting his booster at the same time. The resulting effect turned out to be that Orrin had not only gained a well earned lead of about 3000 meters, but also a small shockwave to the quarreling pilots and their ships.
"I'm surprized you're even allowed in this squadron. Well boys, I guess you'll have to be stuck smelling my fumes... that is, if you don't take all day to enter," Icharus mentioned, as he began the first turn, and started on the second, quickly gaining even more ground.

Kefka suddenly heard Jarik's voice over the comm inviting him to go first.
"First? You mean you haven't even gone yet? This is like my third pass. Oh well, if you insist."
Going in for his third pass through the canyon, he kicked in the afterburner and sped off through the windy paths. There wasn't much to worry about except for a slight hairpin curve, which he handled with excllence and precision.
In a flat of about two minutes, he and Jarik were back at the beggining, laughing over their comms.

Orrin quickly became bored doing the canyon run in under 3 minutes at half throttle. So he called over the com, hoping for a favorable response.
"You guys want to ditch the recording? I mean, next is waypoint following, which I doubt you guys are willing to do. So how about a 3 hit dogfight?"

"heh. I'll shoot you punks down with ease. dog fights are my specialty." Jarik grinned. he primed up his weapons and armed his faux missles. "ok you mynocks. lets do this."

Orrin had already set up for this, and was laughing slightly at how easily he would take this. He was already behind Jarik, and shot the first laser right at the engine.
"This will be too easy."

suddenly Jarik rolled to starboard and dropped his speed, letting the shots and Orrin speed right past him. Jarik thumbed his guns and fired a salvo of faux laser energy at Orrin."nice try pal. was hopping you'd wait til Kef was ready, but if you want to jump the blaster thats fine."

((techinically, we'd be equal match. except for ballistics... there i have the upperhand... though i don't like to use them...))
Orrin quickly took to a knifeedge loop, pulling about 5 gees, but evading the lasers.
"I do say, morbleu! I'd be worthy of a match, dear sir! However, it will take more than that to keep up with me."
Knowing that this would not even be worth taking lightly, he accepted his chances, and went into a flat spin, daring the move to drop altitude quicker than his opponent could. Of course, vulerability was compromised, but he had many more tricks in his sleeves. Once again he managed to overshoot the enemy on a upward trajectory, putting him right where he started: behind Jarik.
((ps: If you need me to describe moves out so you understand what exactly happened, tell me. I have my own pilot's liscense, and know so many fighter pilots that i tend to overcomplicate the subject...)

((you have a pilot's liscence? That's so cool.))
After the unkown pilot started blasting at Jarik, Kefka decided to defend his friend. pulling up to gain the altitude, he armed the faux lasers and swerved down at a 60 degree angle, leveling out just in time to fire a shot at the pilot.. Speeding up as to not get hit himself, Kefka pointed the hoppers "nose" downward, and brought the craft in a steady dive, then pulled up again, to fly parallel to the pilot..
He reached down, realizing he had no idea who he was flying against. He flipped the com on and spoke.
"So, Pilot, what's your handle, and from where do you hail? You aren't such a bad pilot after all."

Seeing Kef got the drop on his pursuer, Jarik saw this as the perfect time to lose him. he faked left, then Knifed to the right, pulling himself out of Orrin's crosshairs. as he pulled away, he nearly colided with Kef, who had pulled up along side orrin. "watch it laser-brain!"

"Oh, Kefka, you're already outgunned in this match. And I play rough, just to let you know," Icharus stated, as his skyhopper's wingtip tapped on Kefka's. A small throttle increase made an uneasy noise, before he pulled a split-s, changing direction.
"Is this between you and me Jarik? Or between all of us? I have a feeling Kefka doesn't stand a chance.

((first, you look at your dogfighting skill vs mine. then you look at evasion. then targeting, then laser, then ballistics. and plus, its a statement, not necessarily a trueist outcome))

((whatever, just cuz you have better evasion. but the damage i tke from the evadingness can be upped by me droid))
"Okay Mr. Unknown Pilot. I'm gonna make you eat those words."
He banked around and fired some more shots at the pilot's craft.
"You gonna identify yourself or what?"
Kefka looped-the-loop and blasted at the guy's right wing, before swerving to the left and diving down.
