A Spoonful of Agent

Devi dropped the pen. She knew the man had been inside, though she didn't think he'd be there so quickly. She must have put the entrance relatively close to the head. She'd thought it'd just randomly appear somewhere. Even if it had, it wouldn't take him that long to get through the long halls. They were mostly straight, with the exception of a few random turns that might confuse someone who hadn't been in there before. She bent down and picked up the fallen object, and resumed twirling it between her fingers.

She was sitting straight, though because of the fact that the couch was so close to the ground, looked much shorter than she actually was. Her legs weren't crossed, just laying there, relaxed.

"Don't worry about it. I wouldn't be want to stuck outside all night, myself."

Devi heard the final part of the sentence, though she didn't say anything about it. Zoids didn't always cooperate. And even when they did, it might be at the wrong time. She'd been in a few tight spots where the Shield Liger had decided to be nice just before she was about to be killed. And she'd almost been killed a couple of times. It made her smile just to think of the multiple times she'd pissed people off.

She watched as the man walked around the couch. At least he wasn't a complete weirdo. That would be awful to have someone spend the night who wasn't normal. Not to say anyone was normal anymore.

"Why were you in the desert?"

Devi was as subtle as an explosion in a busy intersection.

"You can relax if you want. I'll be right back."

Devi stood up and wandered to the control panel. She was going to check one more time to see if either of her teammates or their Zoids were on the radar. They couldn't be that far away, but they weren't nearby, either. They'd been off of it for hours. She wanted to at least be able to get through the desert without having to spend half their lives there.

She wasn't going to try to open a com-link with either of them, though. If they were in the middle of a battle or something, then that would just distract them. And considering Ryo and that girl seemed to know one another, the battle might go on for a while. And knowing Ven, he was either right above the battle or had now become a part of it. She sighed.

"No luck..."

Devi stole one more glance at the control panel before spinning around. There was still no sign of anyone. Even someone to fight would be fine, though the Liger still wasn't ready for another one so soon. Minor repairs helped, but she needed a mechanic, and at the moment, he was out fighting. Maybe she should look for them... The thought had started to cross her mind right before Kard had shown up. But right now, she couldn't leave.

She rubbed her eyes and moved a little farther across the floor, now facing Kard.

"It's just my teammates. They still haven't come back from a battle, and I can't leave without them."

"Actually, that might be a good idea. The Liger's all right for searching, but it's not ready for fighting yet. Not so soon, anyway."

She probably shouldn't have told him that. If he wanted to beat her, then now he knew that he probably could. The weapons were pretty much shot, and the Energy Shield was all but destroyed, thanks to the Rhimos. She thought for a moment, before she decided that it actually was a good idea to at least try and look. She got up, and stretched her arms above her head.

Kard remeved his hand from the back of his neck and placed both hands at his sides.

"You have a liger? Is it just new?"

This time Kard sounded a bit more relaxed. He had been around zoids all his life and it was something he knew about and felt comfortable around.
Kard was slightly shaky on the idea it was a new zoid, she did say she got in a fight with some bandits. It could just be damaged a bit... either way he was sure he could help. Even if she was a stranger.

"Nah, I've had it since I started piloting. Two years, I think."

She was proud of her big blue machine. It'd taken long enough to get it, and it always got her going on a conversation if she needed one. She laughed, and started walking towards the door. She motioned for him to follow, since he might want to see the Zoid for himself. The door opened automatically, as it always did. That was still amazing compared to her own, normal door. Not as cool as the Shield Liger's cockpit, though.

Kard shoved his hands in his pockets as he started to follow Devi. Two years she said? He was now interested in what kind of liger she was talking about.
She looked like the kind of person who would have a basic blade, or a shield, POSSIBLY a Marusme. That was one Kard really wanted to see, the marsume or even the Mugan.

"Wow, two years with a liger... you must be close to it."
He eyed the door as they opened.. - amusing- He thought as he passed by.

Devi stopped for a moment. She was unsure of which way they should turn, but decided to go left. With any luck, her sense of direction would lead her to the garage. Or her liger-sense. ...Okay, she didn't have liger-senses. She turned a few more times, and then found that she'd actually gone the right way.

"Really, really close. Liger's always been there, thankfully. If it hadn't been, I'd probably be dead by now."

The door to the hold was right in front of them. The Liger was in there, ready to either be fixed or ejected for another battle. Knowing Devi, it was probably the latter.

The large Zoid loomed over the two small humans, though it was not moving. There were many visible problems. Devi had done what she could, that was obvious. But it still didn't look very good. It actually looked a little like a wounded animal... It was much calmer, though.

Devi took another looked at the Shield Liger and knew Kard was right. It definitely wasn't ready for walking, let alone fighting if it came to that. Ven and Ryo could probably do better than she could with the repairs, but then she went back to the point that they were nowhere to be found. She placed her hand on the cold metal that was its leg.

"I tried to repair it, but I'm not very good at this sort of thing. I'm the one who usually makes the damages, not repairs them."

She sighed, then smiled calmly. Zoids made her feel calmer, too. Even if they were lifeless. Anyone who wasn't a pilot would probably think of the large machines as strange, even a little creepy. She looked up at the cockpit again. It seemed much higher than it did when she was inside.
