Kanati did not feel much like sleeping that night even though the crys of the forest had died once the sun had set.
He stood gaurding the entrace of the tree his hair the only thing that moved as the wind blew and the spirits whispered words of warning in his ear. It was getting closer to morning when he peered in on Starshine he smiled at her beauty before returning to his post as he watched the sun light begain to twinkle into the forest.

Starshine awoke as the morning rays began to warm the teepee, her indigo eyes fluttered open and she shook her head with a snort. SHe cursed herself inwardly for she had gotten a peacefull nights sleep and let Kanati stand guard all night long, leaving him with no sleep at all. She shook her head and exited the teepee looking for him. "kanati?" she whispered into the crisp morning air.

Kanati was standing where they had parted the night before.
"Good Morning Starshine." he said turning to face her with a smile.
"Did you rest well,my teepee Im afraid has not the softest bed of which to sleep on." He said looking her over abit.

She smiled meekly and nodded her head. "yes, I slept well Knowing you where at watch. Although I flailed to wake myself, I am sorry you have gotten no sleep. How can I make that up to you?" he asked, raising her gaze to meet his. Her brow lightly furrowed. She had let him down in a way even if he didnt see it as such. She sighed, and shook her head lightly, her rainbow tresses almost seeming dulled by her meek and somber aditude.

Kanati did not seem in the least sleepy.
"Starshine it would have been a waste for you to take the post.I would not have been able to sleep nor would the spirits have let me. See once you listen they dont really stop talking to you.Dont feel that you have let me down, though tonight I make take you up on the offer...though." Kanati blushed slightly. He didnt want to sound perverted saying this, it was not some cheap trick or anything.
"I would feel safer if we both were in the Teepee......" his ears pinned thinking of all the bad ways she could take and react to what he said.

Starshine nodded, he wasnt angery or dissapointed in her and that brightened her spirits alot. She smiled and nodded her head, her horn lightly shimmering in the rays of the dawning light. "Alright, As long as you understand. " she smiled and Tilted her head softly to the right, her veil of a mane lightly resting over her right eye. Being pure of heart and mind she didnt think anything bad of what he asked, it seemed perfectly logical to her. "Of corse, that makes sence... after all If something happened to one of us the other would have to know.." She couldnt understand the light flush on her cheeks...was it because he was a male and being in a small space with a female was unheard of in his herd?

Kanati smiled perking his ears as the blush faded he was happy she didnt take it the wrong way.
"Good Ill be able to sleep tonight." Kanati said with a bit of a frown as the wind blew.
"Their crying again." Kanati whispered.

Starshine nodded, happy he would be able to rest his body tonight. No one should go too long without sleep it would wear the body down. And with the pending pale faced two leggers with enslaved soquili running through their lands...it was not the time to be weary. She frowned her ears flicking into the wind as it brushed past her face in a caress. She could make out what sounded like a mournful wail and she couldnt help but gasp softly, shaking her head in dismay.

Kanati instintivly nuzzled her when she gasped. He didnt like seeing her upset.
"Its hard just sitting here while this is being done to our land....if I werent worried about you, who knows what rash acts Id be doing now." His ears flattened he was at a loss. Kanati was not hungry, didnt want to sleep, and could only hear the cries of the land. The only thing bring him to rash thought was Starshine.

The gentle mare closed her eyes as he brushed against her comfortingly, She tried to drown out the terrable sound of the wailing spirits but she could do little to stop it. Her tail flicked and she looked at Kanati. "I hate to think that I am holding you back from some greater action, But Im glad that you are at my Side. Together Perhaps we can do something to restore the peace." she stomped her front hoof and looked around with a stern glance.

"Dear Starshine, I did not mean for you to think that a place blame upon you for me not doing a greater action. So much as I was thanking you for possibly saving my life..........There is nothing more that I want than to be by your side Starshine and these late fears has only made my desire to be with you stronger." Kanati watched her stern glance and smiled slightly. "We should go look at the pale faces? See what they are doing?" Kanati questioned her not sure if he really wanted to take her towards such danger.

The pale mare blushes softly as his passionate words washed over her. A small smile pulled at the corners of her lips as she too knew she felt safe and and strong with him by her side. Her life had taken a drastic turn that faitful day she met him in the valley, and she'd never cared to look back. She chuckled ever so softly with shake of her head, her colorful mane caressing her shoulders. "Kanati...I cant imagine what my life would be like if i hadnt met you... You challenge me in so many ways and I am all the better for it." she said and for the first time of her own accord, she lightly brushed her muzzle against his own. "I dont know if I want to see them.." she said fear creeping into her voice.

Kanati held his muzzle to her's and stared into her eyes again. That same gaze he had given her when they first had met, save alot closer this time.The wind whipped around them.
"That's ok I didnt want to take you anyways, but it was your choice not mine.......When the spirits told me something wonderful was comming, I had no idea how wonderful. " his eyes glowed lightly in a pale green the words of the wailing spirits seemed to become less strong.
Kanati whinned lightly yet almost sadly as a tear rolled down his cheek.
He wasnt sure why he was crying, Maybe from all the years of staying unattached to his own feelings and only listening to the spirits.
He had alway told himself he would never fall in love so he wouldnt be distracted from the teachings of the spirits.
In this time his heart was torn, stay with his original beleifs or finally follow his own feelings.

Starshine lightly closed her indigo eyes a smile on her face. "Thank you...But im scared to look upon them just yet. I know it must be foolish.." she sighed softly and finally drew her head away, blushing again as he mentioned their first encounter. "You speak to well of me Kanati. I cant be so wonderful as you claim, for you have taught me so much." she smiled brightly, her cheeks flushed. She could see it in his face, the elated feeling he felt and the inner turmoil he fought within his own heart. She thought it best to move away and perhaps change the topic. As much as she may like her compaion, her teacher and mentor, she couldnt bare to see him struggle so. "So what do you think we should do?" she asked, purely out of ideas. "we could start warning others perhaps? "

Kanati let out a little whiker as she pulled away from him and then he notice he had started to cry and he snorted and and turned to face the other direction out of imbarasment.
"......I ....I ...I think we should wait like the humans of the village. I went there with a two legger mare named Nayuli. She understands and helps protect us she doesnt live in the village, but she went there to see what the village was going to do to keep us safe and they said they are going to wait, so I think its best for us to do the same."Kanati's ears pressed back. How could he have let himself cry, some protector he was crying.
