she laughed airily "No you silly, I dont want you to run into the watering hole" she raised a brow as she continued "But if that's the sort of thing that you enjoy to do, by all means.... help yourself."
her small whites gleamed as whatever light available hit her eternal grin "Actually sir, I was hoping you would show me that bark of yours again" her emerald eyes sparkled with anticipation as she wiggled the toes of her tiny paws in a giddy fashion.

 "No, just call me Usu or Usufii. No formalities are needed." he smiled warmlyStrange for a another to ask a wolf to bark....a bark is a process to scar or intiminate another, and here thise feline wants him to bark for show? Though, seeing no wrong in it Usu took in a deep breath and opened his maw.
"BARK! BARK! BARK! BARK! BARK!" he barked out, ears back, body in a offense position, flashed fangs, and a low growl emitting from dep within. Wonder why Kia wanted him to bark?

"alright, Usu" she said. She was still grinning, watching, waiting until the wolf finally changed back to his fiercer form. Although, once he began spouting out barks again, even though she was expecting it this time, the fur on the nape of her neck bristled and her eyes widened.
Even the second time around it came as a bit of a shock. However, her shock didnt last long. In fact, within a few seconds she had changed as well. She had morphed from that scared kitten stance to practically hopping up and down in excitement. Once his barks had seemed to cease she mewed gleefully. An explosion of voice then came from her previously pursed lips "teach me!!!" she grinned, eyes squinted happily as she pranced about in place.

Usu's eyes was filled with bewilderment. What was this lioness doing, or want? She wanted him to teach her how to bark. Barking is a canine trait as felines pur, it's not something that can be taught.
"Kia, I can't teach you how to bark." he cocked his head. "Why are you asking me to teach you something that your species doesn't do?" he asked. What benefit would she and he get from this? Is this lioness dropped often when she was young?

her brows furrowed she her head cocked to the side to a rather large degree. "You cant?" she frowned, her lower lip protruding in an over-exagerated pout. "my species doesn't do?" her nose wrinkled. She was perplexed, none of this made sense to her, surely she could learn to display such sharp, fierce vocals that Usu had fired her way.
her wrinkled features smooted themselves as her face turned blank and expressionless. However, this state was destined to be short lived. Swiveling on her paws she took a few steps to the left as if she was sorting out ideas in her mind, her eyes following the ground as she went. Taking a deep breath in she swiveled back towards Usu, that same fire that had lit up her eyes before she even saw Usu returned to her emerald gaze. The fire that radiated her intense desire to conquer challenges.
"I'm sure that you don't know me very well then" she flashed him a smirk "Perhaps the reason that my species doesn't do that, is because my species never tried. I learn very fast..." she lifted her chin and nodded. perhaps, they just weren't good students. Now Kia, she was a very good student...... at least in her mind she was. Not knowing if her little tirade was having a very large effect on her companion she raised her eyebrows and stuttered on "In fact, I.... I will show you!" she grinned smugly, believing that he surely would co-operate with her now. Although, Kia never really gave much of a thought to the opinions of anybody but herself.

Usu's face looked blank. This was odd....are all lions like this? Sure he has seen them in their Prides and their hunting formations, but this? "You're right, I don't you know you." he said.
"But if it makes you happy..." he rolled his eyes. It's best not let her hurt herself trying this....isn't a roar good enough?
"First, you have to know a growl, otherwise, the sound will sound....meek. Second, start a low growl inside you, then let it grow." he explained, doing each step as he gave them. "Breath deeply through your nose and force it out!" he opened his maw and a loud bark emitted from his maw, echoing through the rain.

bingo! she thought to herself as a huge smile played across her features. She squinted her eyes shut as she flashed him a cheerful grin "It does make me happy!" she chuckled before sitting her rump onto the earth and awaiting her first instructions, purring loudly all the while.
"growl.... grow... force... got it!" she nodded before slowly standing back up. Wearing the most serious expression she could she moved herself into a postion that she believed mirrored Usu's barking stance. Her tiny clawed front paws were wide apart and facing inward and her back feet were close together and facing front. she was leaned over her front paws so that her face was lower than her backside and her face bore an expression of utter concentration..... or something like it. Her brows were furrowed, her lips were pursed tightly, and her forehead was slightly wrinkled from all the tenseness. She took a deep puff of air in, filling up her lungs and her posture straightened a good bit in the process. She wasn't leaned over her feet anymore, although she still was rather pigeon-toed.
Letting the air out slowly she actually managed to pull off something that almost resembled a growl. Although it was much more high pitched and sounded rather pathetic. It actually didnt get much better from there, the growl evolved from exactly that into not barks, but instead spitting noises. If one would listen in on her attempts they may have thought she was choking on breakfast instead of trying to bark. Kia didn't give up though, she kept growling and spitting and growling and spitting until she had rather lost her breath and her desire to bark.
sitting back down she gave one more spitting "bark" before looking down at her grimy paw and beginning to flick off crusty chunks of solid mud with her rough pink tongue. Obviously, she was not pleased at her barking abilites, or lack there-of

"As much as I'd like to teach you how to bark, Kia, but I have to go home now." not really, but watching her attempts of barking would scare anyone away. However, Usu would never say that directly to another who could kill him instantly. A soft breeze pieced the rain and came toward him.
Come home....
Usufii sighed. Alright he really does have to go now. He lightened his mood, masking his true feelings, trying not to harm her's. "Well, I am off. If we ever meet again, show me your bark." he smiled warmly.
The large grey wolf rose to his feet and started south, back home, swishing his tail to and fro waving good by to a very, very strange lioness.

she blinked, looking up from her dirty paw she watched Usufii travel off into the distance. She smiled also, hiding her inner dissapointment in her failure. She raised her clean paw to wave even though by now the wolf wasn't facing her anymore "goodbye Usufii." she called after him.
The rain came down a little harder on the young lioness's head, she blinked away drops of rain through her eyes as she looked to the South. Usufii was gone and Kia was there alone in the rain by the water. She looked down into her reflection, which rippled and swirled until she saw an image entirely differently than herself. A trick played on her by memory.
"Mother," she said in a quiet tone "I'm coming home." As quickly as she arrived this place, her body turned itself towards 'home'....wherever that was. Although on her return voyage every so often you would hear a spitting growl in memory of her recent visit to the water hole. Perhaps the two would meet again, perhaps the next time around the young Kia would have a decent bark to show Usufii, but then again.... perhaps not
