Kochanski was barely in the series at all until halfway through vii.
Unlike most fans, I liked series vii (and viii as well. Weird, aren't I?), but the inclusion of Kochanski as a regular was a poor decision.
She was supposed to be the person Lister was obsessed about and whom he would never see again (as was established earlier in the series), not his former girlfriend and now member if the crew.
