chainedfaye Isaurale walked through the grasses, carrying the lil bundle tightly in her arms. The child's wings were still beating even as she slept and it was hard to keep her from floating off into the air.
Reaching a small clearing, she decided to take a break and gently laid the slumbering Alaera on the ground. She was only slightly suprised when instead of staying on the ground, the girl rose into air and started to hover just inches above the earth below.
Isaurale raised her head and looked around, not seeing anyone nearby.
"I wonder if there is anyone else on this island?"
kemo_chan Talea made a face as she discovered that she had strayed away from the marked path that she had been on only moments ago. "Hush, hush..." she instinctively whispered to the bundle in her arms. A soft complaint was returned, but nothing else.
As she treaded carefully through the tall grass she had come upon, Talea noticed a tree up ahead. It looked like a good resting place, so she continued carefully toward welcome shade.
Upon escaping from the small field of unkept grass, Talea discovered that another had already chosen this spot to rest at. She arrived in time to hear what had surely been a rhetorical question, but she decided to respond anyway.
"I am..." her light, dry voice came, her typical kind expression showing on her face. She adjusted Reira in her arms, not noticing the Pae'il that the stranger shadowed from her view.
chainedfaye Lost in her own thoughts, Isaurale didn't hear the stranger approaching.
At least not until she heard her speak. Startled, she jumped and let out a small "Oh!"
Hearing the gasp the little creature laying next to her opened her eyes and immediately fell back down to the ground with a small thump. Alaera looked over at her tears brimming in her eyes, ready to start crying, but motherly instincts took over and she quickly scooped the girl up in her arms and comforted her.
Isaurale, after looking the stranger over carefully, decided she wasn't dangerous. She laughed and apologized "I'm sorry, I guess you startled us. You're the first person we've seen so far. Won't you join us? My name's Isaurale, and this is Alaera," she said holding out the child a bit for the other to see.
kemo_chan Level-headed by nature, Talea barely flinched at Isaurale's surprised reaction. "I'm sorry," she replied, seeming nearly emotionless. Under the surface, though, she understood how difficult it was to keep to get a youngster to sleep sometimes, and sympathized with Isaurale for waking the child up.
Then it sunk in that this stranger was traveling with a bundle rather similar to her own. Talea's narrow eyes widened slightly at the realization. "Yes, yes, it would be lovely to join you," came the rather formal response. "I'm Talea, and this little dear is Reira... A pleasure to meet you."
Considering the initial formality taken care of, Talea carefully sat down with her back against the trunk of the tree, cautious of the infant in her arms. She glanced at her new companion, as if to invite her to take a seat as well.
chainedfaye Isaurale smiles at the other girl, and sat down cross legged, positioning Alaera into her lap, hopefully for another nap. She really wasn't quite sure what to do with the small child yet, but every giggle and smile seemed to melt her heart a little bit more. Once she was settled down, she took the oppurtunity to look over bundle in her new friends arms. She looked just like Alaera.
"I see you have a lil one just like mine. Alaera here came floating down from the sky." Isaurale looked curiously at Talae, wondering how she came to be with Reira.
RebornFlame Reborn had been walking for a few days now exploring this island when he came across a clearing and he saw some other people there too. As he walked to them, Ner'zul started waking up and for the first time they both saw into each others eyes. Huh cool eyes Ner'zul, Ner'zul started fidgeting in his arms. So you don't like being held well lets wait till we get to that clearing over there looks like other people are there wonder if they have babies to? Reborn approched the two other people and said "hello can you help me, we are a little lost?"
kemo_chan Talea nodded slightly. "Mmhmm... Reira appeared to me... It was the strangest thing. I was washing dishes, and then suddenly I was outside with her in my arms. Haven't a clue where my home is, now. Maybe I'm just dreaming." She laughed a bit, showing that she was in good humor despite her troubles. "This girl is growing so quickly! Her blonde hair, and those searching eyes..."
At this point, Reira had woken up and was looking around peacefully. Her eyes focused past Talea and the young woman turned her head at the approaching traveler.
"I'm sorry, but I don't know where we are myself." She gave a serene smile and said little else, scanning the newcomer before moving her gaze to the surroundings.
RebornFlame "Hmm, well its good to know me and Ner'zul are not the only ones out here. We have been walking forever this place HUGE, huh you have the babies too I wonder if this is where they came from?"
chainedfaye Isaurale watched the newcomer approach and hearing his question, smiled in spite of herself. "Well" she said "at least we are lost out here together" and laughed.
She pondered for a moment what both Talea and Reborn had said. Them meeting out here in this strange land where they had never been before and then all coming upon infants, surely could not be a coincidence.
Coming out of her thoughts she looked to the two "It seems as though someone has chosen us to care for and protect these young children."
kemo_chan "Sure, of course," Talea replied, speaking more casually. "Children are always a blessing." A fakish smile crept onto her face once again, but Reira's "coo"ing interrupted any train of thought she may have had.
The infant kicked her little legs against the blanket that trapped them and waved her arms toward Talea, as if to say 'Look at me! I've woken up!'. The young woman gave what was clearly a geniune smile and leaned forward as Reira cluched a stray strand of her dark hair.
Powweh Daniel stumbled through the grassy clearing, clutching to the pink bundle in his arms. The little infant squeeled joyously at a small butterfly wafting past through the air. The first non-grumpy action she had made while the whole duration of their new adventure.
Shading his eyes, Danny surveyed the sunny area for a place to rest. He was walking and following his map in his pocket now for about an hour, and his feet sure were sore from lugging poor, squirming Toure around.
Resisting the urge to jump for joy, Dan instead shuffled his way through the growth towards a large tree casting a welcoming shadow. A bit surprised at the little sea of heads he spotted, he picked up the pace until he was beside the group. Maybe they knew where he was?
"Uh, hi there.." Dan greeted the small group with a wave while holding onto his child at the same time, who gurgled uncomfortably. He was surprised to find that they too had little wrapped bundles, and his eyes danced happily. Maybe they knew about these babies! "Mind if I take a seat?" he gestured towards a green patch of grass near the lot hopefully.
RebornFlame "Well people and more babies are just poping up I just stumbled along here too", Reborn looked down at Ner'zul he was still staring at Reborn. It seemed like Ner'zul was inspecting him, he broke away from the baby's gaze to look at the other babies around him.
chainedfaye Alaera struggled in Isaurale's arms, fighting against the blanket that bound her. She desperately wanted free, and her wings flapping furiously. Finally unable to control her, Isaurale laid her gently back down on the ground.
Alaera had no interest in staying where she was put though. Squirming out of the blanket, she used her wings to sort of scoot over the ground, barely rising off the ground before falling back down with a thump, barely an inch from where she had started from. Eventually, she reached a flower than had been growing in the clearing. She plucked it from the ground and started to play with it, giggly happily.
Alaera was bored. She wanted to play.
kemo_chan Reira give Talea's dark hair one last tug before her grip loosened and her fingers opened, allowing the strands to filter through her grasp. She smiled, her eyes closing lightly to complete the look, before noticing movement at the edge of her vision. She struggled to get a better look, and finally Talea tugged the blanket around her loose, allowing her freedom.
With wide eyes, Reira took in her surroundings, quickly focusing on Alaera... More specifically, the flower in her hand. By means of a teetering crawl, she made her way over to the other Pae'il. Mimicking a motion she had observed in Talea many times, she grabbed loosely at the flower and pulled it gently toward her face, allowing Alaera to keep her grip on the stem. Closing her eyes in much the same way as she had when she smiled, she sniffed at the flower. A half-laugh escaped from her throat as she pushed the flower back, towards her new friend's face, willing her to repeat the action.
RebornFlame Ner'zul started fidgeting to get out of Reborn's arms. "Stay near here", as Reborn gave Ner'zul a stern look and put him down. Ner'zul like the feeling of crawling he tried to go faster but he moved one of his arms in a jerk of a motion and slid forward instead of crawling. "You gonna always rush forward instead of getting a feeling of going at a pace, your funny". Reborn said as he looked down at Ner'zul and he got a little smile in return then Ner'zul continued trying to crawl.
chainedfaye Alaera eyes narrowed as she noticed another Pae coming near her, but the lil girl only reached for her flower. She watched as Reira pulled the flower to her faced and took a deep whiff and laughed.
Alaera follwed her lead, putting the flower to her tiny nose and breathing in deeply. Suddenly she sneezed, the action lifting her up off her bottom and back down with a small thump. Her eyes widdened in surprise.
Curiously she took another deep whiff and giggled playfully when the same thing happened.
Alaera noticed another Pae crawling towards them. When the boy got close enough, she playfully shoved the flower into his hands.
RebornFlame Ner'zul was suprised when the other baby handed him the flower. He lightly started to smell the flower, he wanted to smell it more so he took a huge breath of air but then felt a weird sensation in his nose and sneezed. He was confused what was that weird sensation did he like it, Reborn watched in amusement as Ner'zul decided what to do with the flower. Then Ner'zul tried doing the same things to other things but remebered about the flower and realized he still had it in his hands. He looked to the baby that gave him the flower, then to Reborn, and then at the other people.
Powweh 1234Danny sat onto the grass after inspecting it for anything he should be aware of. Toure blinked at the other babies who seemed very interested in a flower that the lighter skinned girl had found. She figeted and struggled to free herself from her blanket to go check it out herself.
1234"Be careful", Dan warned her as he gently tugged away at her blanket before she had the chance to hurt herself. Toure quickly crawled over to the three others and rested on her belly, allowing her legs to kick into the air, and her tail to swish calmly. She'd never been around other babies before, and didn't actually know that they were just like herself.. under heavy watch and consistant restraint from outlets and aggresive animals that happened to get just close enough for the pae to stick their heads into their mouths.. Toure anyway.
1234She watched as the green boy sneezed, and smiled broadly with her pink gums, a bubbly giggle escaping from her small body. She reached out at the flower with a chubby fist, waiting patiently to see if he would let her have a go.
kemo_chan Reira was quickly losing interest in the flower now that everyone else was having a go at it as well. Her gaze began to roam, landing first on the gently moving blades of grass, then the bark of the tree, and finally the waving leaves above. Then she noticed the sun. It was as if she had never realized its existence before that moment. She tried to stare, but the intense light caused a feeling in her eyes that made her squeal a bit. She waved her arms at the novel sight and reached as if her life depended on it. Unknowingly, she began to wiggle her little wings until they were lifting her off the ground with a quiet buzz. Sensing that she was getting closer to her goal, she let out a happy scream and kept up the motion, floating inches, then a foot off the ground.
At the time, Talea was shading her eyes from the very same sun that Reira wanted to reach. When she heard the scream, she quickly scanned the group of young Pae'il. She could see the outline of a familiar Pae'il in the bright afternoon. "Oh, my...." she murmured, too surprised at the moment to even move to stop the girl.
RebornFlame Ner'zul saw that the other baby wanted to see the flower. He handed her the flower wondering what she would do with it. Ner'zul noticed that the baby that gave him the flower was floating up he watched in amazement. Reborn was looking at the baby also dumbfounded on how it was floating.
chainedfaye Isaurale watched the small child float up into the air. At least she attempted to. Alaera had someone mananged to make her way back over to her caregiver, and tugged on her leg until Isaurale, swooped down and scooped her tiny form up, cradling the infant in her arms.
Alaera looked up to her mother only to discover that her attention was once again captured by the other girl floating up the sky. A small scowl crossed her face, she wanted her mother's attention. Reaching up, she grabbed a fistful of Isaurale's golden brown hair and tugged as hard as her little arm could.
"Ouch" she exclaimed and looked down at the baby in her arms. The little girl was smiling again, happy to have her mother's attention back. After carefully disentangling her hair from the tiny hand's, she told the bundle in her arms pulling on hair wasn't nice, and again her eyes drifted back up into the sky.
Alaera was quite upset by now. She was hungry, she was tired, and she wanted some attention. She screamed out her frustration, her cry echoing through the clearing. Isaurale looked down at her, concern washing over her face.
"Uh oh, I think she might be hungry. We had better go find something to eat," and with that Isaurale started to walk back the way they had come. She stopped several paces away, waved, and called over her shoulder "Nice to meet you all, take care!"

May 28, 2006
I wandered around for some time, trying to find to find some source of food for the small girl I cradled in my arms. Night was beginning to fall, the sky getting darker and darker. I had to admit I was lost and Alaera was starting to get fussy.
I sat down for a moment to rest. It's amazing how such a small little bundle can get so heavy. Forlorn, I looked around, desperate to find my way home. I was almost resigned to spending the night in this strange place when I noticed a rather large, odd looking clearing up ahead. 'Could it be?' I wondered and rather hopeful, got up and started walking over.
As I got closer, I recognized it as where I had first landed on this strange island in the sky. Pressing the red button again, a tingling sensation went through my body but I knew somewhat to expect from the trip this time. My concern was more for the child in my arms, I was rather afraid she would be hurt, suppose she wasn't permitted to leave the isle? She slept soundly though.
When my feet felt earth below them again, I realized that I was still hopelessly lost. I had never been in this part of Gaia before, and seeing no one that I could ask directions, I was unsure what to do. It wouldn't make any sense to keep wandering around, especially at night, I would only get more lost. But I couldn't simply stay here and wait for someone to wander by either. In the end, the rumbling of my stomach and Alaera's sweet little cry in her sleep settled the matter. I moved on.
I was nearing the point of exhaustion when I first saw the flicker. It was strange how it seemed to be so close, yet I couldn't identify the source. Stepping closer, the flicker of light moved away just slightly, in the direction opposite of the way I had just come. I stepped closer again, and again it moved away. Realizing that it was trying to led me somewhere, I followed it. I know it must seem strange to have simply followed this light anywhere it went, but for some reason I could feel a good aura seeping from the light. Suddenly the light went out and at first I was startled that it had just abandoned us, when I realized I was now standing in front of the door to my house. Silently I thanked whoever it was that got us home and went inside.
Alaera was still blissfully sleeping, thank goodness. I'm not sure I could have dealt with a cranky baby at the moment. I knew she must be hungry but I was loathe to wake her and decided it could wait a bit longer. I grabbed a quick snack for myself and then headed to bed with my new little girl at my side. Needless to say I wouldn't be quite so lonely anymore.

May 29, 2006 Alaera woke several hours later crying fitfully. It took me several moments to actually remember what had happened the day before and to figure out what exactly was making so much noise! Luckily I had some milk in the fridge. I wasn't sure if she would drink it or not, but that's what humans babies ate, so I figured it was wroth a try. Luckily she seemed to like it. After she was finished with her milk, I was playing with her on the floor when I noticed a bluish-green flame shaped cloud floating nearby. I batted it away, which seemed to amuse Alaera, for she burst out laughing. The little cloud thing started to hover and circle around my head and shrill little chittering noise emanating from it, almost as if it were chastising me! I went to get a broom to shoo it away, but when I attempted to Alaera screamed "NO! WEWON!" while the little thing started to glow furiously. I dropped the broom in surprise at Alaera's speech, she was so young still and already talking, though not really understandably. But still, she must be very intelligent. When I looked back at the little hovering thing I realized this was the same glowing thing that had led us home last night. I lowered the broom and feeling somewhat bewildered and well, a bit silly apologized to it. "Oh. I'm sorry. Thank you for helping us last night. " It had now returned to hover over Alaera's head but giggling, she grabbed it into her arms and pulled it down to her chest, giving it a hug. It was so cute I couldn't help but smile. They seemed to know each other, perhaps it is some sort of creature that is her pet. Or guardian maybe, I'm not sure. But it seems harmless and was helpful last night, though I do wonder how it knew where I lived.

May 24, 2006 I woke up tonight to a roomful of blinding light. At first I thought I was still dreaming but I could hear Alaera in the background giggling. Worried for her safety I threw the covers off, and tried stumbling over to her crib. Walking in the dark is one thing, walking in blinding light is another completely. It was so bright I couldn't keep my eyes open, in fact I had to use my hands to help block out some of the light even with my eyes closed. Without my hands free I had to stumble around without a guide. I had almost reached her crib when, quite suddenly the light disappeared. I had to blink several times to completely clear it from my vision so that I could see again, but when I opened my eyes again, they fell immediately upon Alaera. She had transformed into a toddler! Pale sea foam green hair now graced the top of her head, pulled up into two adorable little pigtails. And the markings on her face seemed to have moved around on her body, some to her legs and chest, though there are still several on her face, especially around her eyes. And even the little glowing creature grew as well! It's a bit bigger but doesn't really have much of a shape yet. Oh I can't believe she grew, she's so much bigger now!

Early June, 2006 I took Alaera with me to visit the Marketplace today. I needed to pick up a few things for her now that she was a toddler. She was good for most of the trip but near the end she started to get a bit cranky. I knew it was getting time to leave soon and lay her down for a nap, but a little shop in the distance caught my eye, so I wandered over. I didn't think it would take but a minute to look around and it was on the way home anyway. But the trip ended up causing some trouble. The shop had a bunch of trinkets, including dream catchers, jeweled baubles, and lots of jewelry: rings, necklace charms, even hair pins. I probably would have gotten something if Alaera had not been with me, she was just too fussy. 'Perhaps I will come back later' I thought as I started to move away from the booth, only to have the shopkeeper run after me yelling! Bewildered I turned around to ask what the problem was, when they demanded "Are you going to pay for that?" "For what" I asked? "That jewel your child's got!!" they said angrily. I turned about to look and discovered that Alaera had grabbed one of the jewel baubles, a glittering purple one with silver etchings to be precise.
"Oh dear! I'm so sorry I had no idea!" I reached up to pry the jewel from between her fingers and started to hand it back to the shopkeeper when she started screaming as loudly as her little lungs could manage. With a sigh I gave it back to the toddler and she quieted right back up. We had already attracted a bit of a crowd watching us, I didn't want to cause anymore commotion. "How much?" I asked. "150 gold." And so I pulled out my coin purse and payed the merchant, making sure to give a bit extra. "For your trouble." I told them as I handed over the money.
Alaera was rather lucky I had enough to cover it and I made sure to give her a stern lecture on the way home. But after we got there, and I saw her playing with the little bauble, my heart lifted. She didn't have any toys anyways. Who could be upset with such a sweet little girl?

June 21, 2006
We were outside in the garden today when something amazing happened. Alaera was crawling among the lilies chasing after butterflies when she started to glow a soft pale blueish color, ever so slightly. Concerned, I ran over to her and bent to pick her up but to my surprise she was hot to the touch. My hands tingled with a burning sensation and I was forced to just look on, uncertain of what was happening.
Alaera didn't seem to be in any pain but her eyes were huge, the surprise and wonder evident on her face. She had sat down and was gazing at her outstreched hands. That's when the beaming light started to shine from her hands and feet, swirling around her, until she was enveloped in blinding light. The brightness was overpowering and I backed away slowly, my hand shielding my eyes while still trying to see what was happening, worried about the lil one I had come to care for so deeply.
Slowly, the light faded. It took several moments for my eyesight to return to normal and when it did I gasped in surprise. My sweet little toddler had just turned into a child! I ran forward and gathered her up in my arms, giving her a tight hug before checking all over to make sure she had not sustained any injuries. Alaera squirmed arond uncomfortably in my arms and so I set her back down on the gound, looking over her once more. She seemed to still be glowing, a haze of periwinkle blue light surrounded her.
"Alaera," I asked, "are you alright?"
The small child just nodded and looked up at me, her innocent eyes wide with wonder and intelligence. "Why?" she finally voiced, oblivious to the fact that light was emanating from her.
Just then something caught my attention. Something was floating down from the sky. My mind flashed back to the day I found Alaera, when she floated down from the sky just like whatever this was. My eyes drifted down to her form, she was still looking up at the sky, entranced by the object. I can't believe so much time has past since she came to me. She has grown so much, yet it seems like it was just yesterday that she was the tiniest of things. How time flies. Sighing, I return my gaze to the object in the sky.
It had drifted almost all the way down by now. Alaera was jumping up and down furiously, trying to grab it, forgetting in her excitement that she could fly (well hover). She's nowhere even close and I couldn't help but smile at her antics. Despite my own overwhelming curiousity, I let it float down to her level, where she reached up and snatched it from the air. It was a piece of rolled up parchment paper, tied nicely with a dark purple ribbon. The look on Alaera's face said she was about to rip into it. "Gently," I warned her.
She glanced up at me quickly before diverting her attention back to the parchment, I could have sworn she rolled her eyes at me. She did as I asked though, gently untying the ribbon and unrolling the paper. She stared stubbornly at it for several moments before shoving it over to me. I look down to see a message, written in purple ink, the same dark color as the ribbon. "Well?" Alaera asked impatiently. I suppose I will need to teach her how to read and write before much longer.
Clearing my throat, I began:
Guardian_Iris Congratulations Alaera!
Now that you are old enough, the Guardians have decided to bless you with a special and unique ability!
Your new ability is Electroluminescence! (molecular)
Electroluminescence means that you can use your own body's energy to make yourself into a light source. As you gets older and stronger, you will have the ability to manipulate the energy within other living creatures to make them light up as well. Alaera must have been holding her breathe the entire time I was reading, because when I finished, she let out a long "Wooooooow." Strange though, I think that's when she finally stopped glowing.
A cool breeze blew through the garden then, sending chills down my spine. I rolled the parchment back up, and scoped Alaera into my arms. "Let's go back inside little one" I whispered to her. On the walk back to the house she fell asleep in my arms, exhausted from her transformation. I couldn't blame her.
As we entered the house, I paused for a moment, looking back up into the sky and then down at the paper in my hand. It all seemed so strange.
"At least I know why she glows now," I thought and shut the door behind me.

It has been some time since I have been able to write. Alaera's new power has gotten us into a bit of trouble it seems. She's not able to control it you see. One night she was having a nightmare and in her unconscious state must have activated her power because the entire area flooded with a brilliant light. The neighbors were not happy. They have become suspicious of her powers and avoid us as much as possible. The children that used to play with her as a toddler are now no longer allowed to even talk to her.
I thought it would be best for us to leave. My hope was that we could perhaps find someone who would help her control her power. Or at least a safe place for her to grow. Alaera has been asking why she looks so different from everyone else and if she is the only one. She asks about the island where I found her and the others that I met with children of their own. I tell her what I know, little though it is. I don't have the heart to admit to her that the day I found her I had been hopelessly lost and only by some extraordinary luck managed to find my way home with her. I've looked for the way back there, but haven't been able to find it.
Life on the road has been hard for both of us, but I fear Alaera suffers more than I can relate. She has become so quiet, not like the playful little girl she once was. She absorbs everything she sees silently. There is such an intelligence in those eyes, eyes that do not match the body of a small child. Her power is still fluctuates and truthfully I think she has grown to fear it somewhat, knowing what usually happens after it grows wild - we must leave again and journey onward.

Early August 2006 We have finally found someplace safe to stay - for now, anyways. Alaera has been somewhat able to control her power, or at least able to restrain it from breaking free and getting out of control again. The strain is hard on her I can see it. It's not healthy for a child her age to have such worries, such fear. We have been staying with some gypsy folk at the edge of a forest nearby the towns. They go out every so often and steal food from them, which I don't care for, but we do need it to survive. In return for their shelter, I have been running a schoolhouse of sorts, teaching their children to read. Alaera as well. She has developed a certain fondness for books, reading as many as she can get her hands on. Particularly geography books, I think she is still looking for the isle from which she came from. I hope she finds it poor dear, she needs others of her kind to socialize with. There are days I wish I hadn't brought her back with me, not because I don't love her, because I dearly do, but because of the terrible things she has had to deal with because she is so alone here.
Now that she can read and write for herself, I think I shall give her this journal for her own use.

I was out in the forest gathering some berries around twilight with one of my gypsy friends when it I started to lose control of my power again. Or at least that's what I thought was happening. I've been getting a lot better at holding the light inside of me lately but it seems like every so often it builds up and forces itself out. That's why we keep having to move. But this time it felt differently, like something more was happening, almost like I was changing on the outside as well as what it normally feels like on the inside. It didn't feel like I had lost control of it this time. It didn't matter either way, the girl I was with screamed and ran away anyways. Knowing that we were going to have to leave these nice people and search yet another for another place to stay, I slowly made my way back to the camp side, not wanting to have to see the look on Isaurale's face when she hears the news. She didn't really seem to mind. She was more excited about the fact that I'm a teenager now. I guess the light was really changing my outside. I look so much older now, and Isaurale called me a "sexy she-devil" whatever that means. I don't feel any different on the inside though? I just hope being a teenager lets me control my power more, I hate to keep disappointing Isaurale.

October 3, 2006
I ran away a few days ago. It's something I have been thinking about since I became a teenager. I should be able to look after myself now, I don't need Isaurale trying so hard to care after me. We just found a nice place to settle again. In a small little village, a few days walk from the gypsy camp we stayed at. She hoped that if we went somewhere far enough away, word wouldn't reach her about my strange power. I didn't want to be the one responsible for forcing her through life constantly on the run. That's why I ran away. Without me, she'd be free to stay and make a life there.
I found this little note inside my journal when I just opened it up. It made me kinda teary eyed. Isaurale I can see in your eyes my dearest Alaera. You will be leaving me shortly, and quite frankly, I don't blame you. Life here in the human world has been so hard for you, I dearly hope you find your way back to that floating island on which I found you. I'm so sorry I wasn't a better mother to you, but please know that I will always love you and will always be there for you should you need me.
Love, I somehow managed to find the island again though. I just remember asking my mellon if he knew where it was and then followed him. It has to be the place, I recognize it from Isaurale's descriptions. I practically memorized the story she told me of how she found me. I haven't met any others like myself yet though, I'm staying kinda low. There's a big building nearby that perhaps might have some people but I'm a bit hesitant. What if they are just as bad as the humans, and think I'm some kinda of dangerous freak as well? I think I'll just stick to the forest nearby at least that's something familiar.

Mid October, 2006
Well this is most definitely the island. I snuck inside the big building by the landing spot the other night while everyone was sleeping. They had a kitchen inside, which thankfully, was well stocked. The fridge had everything I wanted to eat. I've not been very successful at finding food lately so I kinda gorged myself. When I was done I explored more of the building, being careful not to be seen. I wasn't sure who exactly lived here, though I had seen lots of people coming and going from the building all day long, but I didn't think they would like to be woken up in the middle of the night by a teenage girl ravaging the refrigerator. I eventually found a library overflowing with old and interesting looking books. I even found a few on the island itself telling of the history, the people that live here, even a map. I'm a pae - a demon one, I discovered. It was amazing, I finally felt like I belonged. I borrowed a few of the books to take with me, I didn't want to stay there too long. I seem to have found a tree that I particularly like, in Loka Nei forest I think it is. I've made it my home. It's right next to a little stream of water too. It's kinda lonely, but I belong here more than anyplace else.

October 31, 2006
Today is something called Hal-lo-we-en. I heard some of the others talking about it while I was spying on them. They also mentioned something about getting dressed up in costumes and going trick or treating, whatever that is. It sounded intruiging though, so I snuck back into the building I found the other day and stole a few things to make a costume. This costume thing seemed like a good idea, no one would know who I was and I would be able to follow them around without being noticed.
Later that night when it got dark, a group of them set out, with me close behind. Our first stop was the headquarters where a small flutter faerie answered the door. The others in her group yelled "Trick or Treat"at the little creature and she rewarded them with candy!!! It was my turn next.
Quote: Alaera stepped up to the house, with a sheet covering her. She had seen the others dressing up and quickly made her own costume. She thought she looked like those ghost things Mother mentioned and hoped it would do. It seemed kinda stupid to her, but for some reason she was a little excited. Knocking on the door, she muttered what she heard the others say "Trick or Treat!" To her surprise the little fae that answered the door smiled and put candy into the bag she was carrying.
She grinned, looking down into her bag at the candy. 'Maybe this wasn't so stupid after all' she thought. Next we came to a clearing. At first nothing happened and I was starting to think this whole thing was a waste of time when this rose appears out of the ground and when it opened there was another faerie inside!! She welcomed us and when she was done the ground erupted with a blooming of small roses. Quote: Alaera watched as roses sprung up from the ground. "Roses" she breathed "I love roses. And these are so beautiful."
She bent down and gently tugged the flower lose from the dirt. After putting the candy she discovered inside in her bag, she wrapped it around her wrist making a bracelet. Taking a deep breathe of the rose's scent she smiled and sighed happily before moving on. After we left the clearing we walked for some time before finally coming to a building. I had never been here before but it was so serene and peaceful. Te building itself was very ornate, and had an archaic feel. When the others knocked on the door, a female answered it. She seemed to be majestic, some sort of royalty perhaps. I couldn't quite figure out who she was at the time but I remember now from my readings. It was the High Matriarch and the building was the Fallason Healing House. Quote: Alaera waited some for the others to clear out before going up to the door. For some reason she felt a certain awe for the creature that was handing out the candy here, and respectfully said "Thank you" after getting her candy. Leaving the Healing House, we trudged up a mountain. After what seemed like an eternity, they finally ran across a hill with a door in it. When they knocked the door opened to a rather strange man with a sash tied around his eyes. I wonder if that was supposed to be his costume? He seemed a bit grumpy as he just growled at us to take some candy ourselves. But I wasn't going to complain. Quote: Alaera grinned. Now this was a guy she could get along with. Saying "Trick or Treat" she reached into the bowl he was holding out and grabbed what she hoped was a handful. We left, walking back down the mountain. It was starting to get a bit late and I was beginning to wonder how much longer this thing was going to take. I'm not very patient you know, even when I am getting free candy. It would have been so much easier if they had just come to all of us wouldn't it? I wasn't paying that much attention and was rather surprised when we turned around a corner and there was a single woman waiting there in the path for us. Her orange hair was really quite interesting, I don't think I've ever seen anyone with orange hair before.
Quote: Alaera was having fun, though she'd never admit it to anyone. It was nice to see some of the others, it made her a little lonely. Perhaps she would try to make some friends soon.
She held out her bag for some candy hoping this nice looking lady wasn't as stingy as the last guy.
"Trick or Treat!!" By the time I finally got back to my tree, I was exhausted. But happy I suppose. The night had gone well. I got 16 pieces of candy. I will save them for later, I remember one time Mother let me have a piece of candy when I was a child. I don't think I slept for a few days afterwards hehehe. She didn't repeat that mistake again.
It was nice to be around some other Pae for a change instead of hiding.

November 2, 2006
I was wandering around in the woods today and you'll never quess what happened!!!! Quote: Alaera had been out scavenging for berries. She had found some very tasty ones, but unfortunantly had eaten all of the ones near her tree. So, stomache grumbling, she cursed herself and set off deeper into the woods than she had ever been before.
She had just stopped at a small stream to get a quick drink of water when she heard the cry. Completely forgetting about being hungry, her curiousity got the better of her once again. "Who could be so far out here" she asked herself and was determined to find the answer. Perhaps someone was hurt? So she followed the sound silently, slipping in around and behind the trees as she went. She was curious but not stupid, you never knew what was at the end of something and it was better to be careful.
Just as she thought she was almost upon the source of the noise it ended rather abruptly. Alaera blinked, wondering how to continue her search without anything to guide her. Turning in a circle, she surveryed the area around her, finally deciding that one path seemed to be the best one to take. Her stomach rumbled again and she thought to herself 'even if I don't find whoever or whatever that was, I might still find some of those yummy berries.'
She walked for a ways before coming upon a clearing with a small garden nestled against the forest. She scurried over hopeful that there was something there she could eat and began to pull up some carrots and nibble on them. Sitting down on the ground she started to look around the clearning thinking that it was a very peaceful place when she suddenly realized that there was another Pae sitting in the garden. She peered closer not sure if her eyes were playing tricks on her - this Pae looked just like a pumpkin!
Finally deciding it was a Pae and not some sort of illusion she remembered her manners "Erm...hello." She had finally gotten the little girl quiet again. She would have to find some food for her later. But for now, since the child was occupied she let her mind drift. She had had many seedlings in the past, in fact all the pumpkins in the garden had come from her seeds. Children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren - they were all hers. She had lived a great many lives, reborn every spring from the decaying remains of her death in the cold winter months. But never had she been required to take care of her children before, the earth always providing for them. And she was quite sure that this baby was not like any of her babies. How then would she be able to care for her? Her heart sank at the thought. She had been given a responsibilty.
Suddenly alerted to another presence in the garden, She held the child protectively to her chest and watched as the other started pulling vegetables out of the ground and eating them. After a few moments, the other's eyes finally focused on her and stared. She was just starting to feel ackward when the other Pae spoke.
"Hello!" she replied happily. "How are you today?" Alaera scooted closer to the pumpkin colored Pae, tilting her head and looking at her sideways for a few moments before answering. She seemed so happy, warm, welcoming. "Erm..alright I suppose." Her stomache choose that moment to rumble in protest and Alaera blushed, embarrased. "I guess I am a bit hungry. I was looking for food when I found you."
The other women laughed warmly and smiled at her. "Well dear this is a garden. Find something to eat. " She paused and added rather hesitantly "just not the pumkpins please." She wasn't quit sure how she felt about that...they were her children once. The cycle of life and death, growth and decay would continue on without her, she was certain of that, but she still felt a rather strange bond with the pumpkins she had spent lifetimes seeding. She looked down to the slumbering infant in her lap and smiled, saying to herself "I have a new child now that leaves my love and care." Looking back at the garden, she thought "I can not leave them defenseless though."
Alaera resumed nibbling on her carrot as she searched the garden for something more to eat. Small tomatoes hung heavy on their vines, threatening to fall to the ground below, and Alaera pucked one off and plopped it into her mouth, savoring the taste of its juices. Hearing her companions voice, she turned to look at her, wonderly what had been said, but the angel seemed lost in her thoughts. Perhaps I should get some for her as well, she mused, and started to pick as many of the red orbs as her small hands could hold and brought them back to where the other was seated.
Sinking to the ground next to her new friend, she resumed her carrot nibbling, while offering some of the tomatoes to the woman. "I'm Alaera by the way." She smiled at the teen and took one of the offered tomatoes, lightly rubbing her finger over its smooth surface. Food was going to be a new experience for her and she had no hesitation as she gingerly placed it in her mouth and bit down. As she did, small bursts of flavor erupted in her mouth. 'Oh my' she thought 'if everything tastes so wonderful, I shall definantly enjoy this eating thing.
Alaera? What a pretty name she thought before replying "My name is ......" she paused "well I really don't have a name yet I suppose. I just transformed you see." The carrot stopped halfway to Alaera's mouth as she stared in disbelief. No name? How could someone not have a name? And what did she mean by transformed? The blank look on her face must have suggested that no, she did not see for the older woman continued.
She smiled at the girl's confused look. "I was once a pumpkin dear. I have spent an enternity here in this little garden and these" she said gesturing to the other pumkpins, "are all my children. But I was brought to life just recently, and transformed into this" looking down at herself, "so that I may care for a new child, a very special one. With that she pulled back the orange swadling around the babies face, revealing her to her guest. Alaera gasped and leaned forward to get a better look at the child. She seemed to be shimmering as she peacefully slept and slightly transparent. Alaera had never seen anyone so so...well she couldn't find a word to described the small creature. She reached out to touch the infant, not sure if she was real. As Alaera reached out to touch the small bundle, she found herself staring into two huge light blue eyes as the little girl opened her eyes. Mesmerized by their intensity, she hand stilled as it reached out to her. The small child looked at her for a moment before reaching out with a chubby hand, grasping hold of one of Alaera's fingers and giggling.
Alaera grinned back at her. She had never been around so small a person before. The little child was so enchanting...she suddenly felt odd...like she never wanted to let this child out of her sight again. She leaned forward and moved to scoop the infant up into her arms, but suddenly the other Pae pulled her back up close against her chest. Alaera glared at her, unsure of why she was feeling so possessive of the little creature and her sudden desire to be the only one that ever cared for her. She shook her head and the odd sensations cleared, at least somewhat. Her eyes drifted back down the girl for a moment before she looked back up at the pumpkin Pae, the suprise on her face evident. She smiled when the little girl in her arms reached out and grabbed Alaera's finger. 'Seems like she has found a friend' she thought happily to herself, before an inner warning started going off in her head. Unknown to her, her eyes had started glowing slightly and she did not understand why, but she pulled Sylvestanya back up close against her chest. Alaera looked up at her the anger was clear to see but there was something else there as well, something she could not identify, something that scared her.
She was not scared for long though. Alaera shook her head and her eyes seemed to clear of whatever had been in them. Sally heaved a sigh of relief to herself, not certain what might have happened. Actually, Alaera didn't seem to even realize what had happened herself, as she was currently staring at her in surprise and wonder, and the questions were on the tip of her tongue, she was certain of that.
But she didn't know how to answer the questions. She knew Syvestanya was a very special little girl but wasn't quite sure exactly why. She knew that she was here to protect and guide the child, but she had no idea why she had been chosen. It all seemed so mysterious to her.
She looked over to Alaera about to tell her this and had but opened her mouth when her eyes suddenly clouded over and see could no longer see what was in front of her. At first she feared she had been struck blind as the whole world was dark, but a slight shimmer of light slipped from the darkness. It looked like a ghost or spirit to her, the way she could see the trees behind (or was it through?) the it. Whatever it was moved closer to her and she was able to make out that it was a woman of some type, holding a bundle in her arms. She gasped 'was that Sylvestanya?' She looked closer at the woman then, examining her. If that bundle was Syvestanya, then this woman must be her mother. She watched as the woman dug a hole next to a pumpkin (Was that her? Was her butt really that big?) and lay the bundle down into it before collasping. Images continued to swim before her eyes, but they no longer made any sense to her.
Finally her eyesight cleared again and she found herself staring to the face of a very concerned looking Alaera, who was holding Syvestanya as she screamed her unhappiness to the world. Alaera had been just about to ask the other Pae what had just happened, when something even weirder happened. All of a sudden, Sally's eyes had started glowing, just a little at first, then becoming an intense bright white light.
"Hello???" Alaera asked tentatively. The adult seemed to be in some sort of trance or something. She was about to reach forward and shake the other when the child in her lap started screaming at the top of her lungs. She had no idea what to do now and started to reach for the child hoping to calm her. She pulled back though when she remembered how the other had reached when she had tried to pick up the child earlier. The screams paused for a moment much to Alaera's relief only to start back up again as the child took a breath and continued her wailing. The sound was horrible and the continued cries was all that it took for Alaera to throw her caution to the wind. She reached down and picked the child up into her arms and pulled her close trying to comfort and calm her. Something was obviously happening that the child could feel but she had no idea what it was. Frightened she looked up at her companion hoping to discover some clue as to what to do or what was going on, and was relieved to see that her eyes were returning to normal. The pumpkin woman blinked as the world returned to normal and smiled at the concerned Alaera, hoping it would reassure her that everything was alright. She caught the fading wails of Sylvestanya and looked down to her lap only to discover it was empty. She almost panicked but relaxed when she realized the child was in Alaera's arms. 'She would be safe with the child now' Sally thought, now realizing the meaning of some of what she had been shown. The rest would remain in the dark for now she supposed. She leaned forward and brushed the tiny curl of hair from out of Syvestanya's eyes before addressing the teen.
"This is Sylvestanya. She is a very special little girl as I'm sure you have already figured out. I believe her mother was a rather important figure, though in some sort of trouble, and brought the little girl her to grow up safely. However I do not believe that her mother, or the little girl is from this world. Where exactly I do not know. But we must be very careful around her I think, I know not what sort of latent powers she might have, but I think you may have experienced one of them earlier."
She continued "As for myself, I was brought to life to protect the child, and I think in a way ground her somehow. I'm not really sure." She shook her head trying to clear the cobwebs and hoping that everything would make sense. As soon as the woman's eyes returned to normal, Sylvestanya stopped crying. Alaera didn't understand why she was just happy that the noise had ceased.
"Oh" Alaera replied thoughtlessly, her mind too caught up in what she had just heard to form a more intelligent response. Some of what she had said made sense. A least she thought it did.
The little girl cooed at her and Alaera looked down at her and started making funny faces, twisting her face into the oddest looks. She remembered loving it when her mother did this for her when she was a child. Her mother. A tinge of guilt and loss went through her heart as she thought of her mother for the first time in ages. Perhaps she had been wrong in leaving. Seeing this small being made her realize her mother had only been doing what she thought was necessary to protect her. 'Someday,' Alaera thought, 'I will go back and thank her.'
Her mind switched back to the matter at hand. "Well," she started, "if you plan on staying on the island you are going to need someplace to stay and some food for Sylvestanya. There's the HQ's, you could get a room there and they would have food there too. Reallly good food too" her stomach rumbled at the memory of the last batch of food she had snuck out of the HQ's. "Of course you could always stay in my tree with me, it's not too far away, and there's a small river nearby that sometimes has fish in it."
She paused for a moment before adding "And well...you'll need a name too." "A name???" She stammered out. She hadn't thought of that. Pumpkins usually didn't get names, none of her other children had names. She supposed she would need one eventually. No time like the present.
"Well I don't know. How about you give me one???" She asked, eagerly looking at Alaera, wondering what this inquistive teenager would come up with. "Me???" Alaera blinked at the odd request. A name was a serious thing she had always believed, with lots of important meanings and significance and stuff like that. She was a bit hesitant but the idea excited her immensly.
"Well, alright but let me think. Names are special you know. "
Alaera thought long and hard until she suddenly remembered a movie she had seen long ago with her mother. 'Boy mom is sure on my mind a lot today. Stupid conscience' she muttered to herself.
Turning to the other Pae she said "There is a character in a movie that I watched once that reminds me a lot of you. She was very caring person, in fact she was created out of fabric to care for her maker, kinda like you were. They sometimes called her the Pumpkin Queen because she fell in love with a skeleton man who had the title of the Pumpkin King. Her name was Sally. What do you think of that name?" "Sally" the angel woman repeated, feeling with way the name rolled off her tongue. Her eyes glittered as liquid happiness pooled in them and she blinked rapidly to hold back the tears. "Yes I think Sally will do just fine," she nodded and smiled at the teenager. "Thank you so much dear."
Still in Alaera's lap, Syvestanya, looked up at the two hoovering faces above her and starting giggling and clapping her hands, the smile on her face making two adorable little dimples in her chubby cheeks. Sally smiled down at the child too. The child seemed to be able to feel emotions in her environment and react to them. 'I wonder if she even realizes what she's doing' she mused. She thought for a minute more before she looked back at Alaera.
"You know, every little girl needs a big sister. Would you be interested in being Sylvestanya's?" Alaera felt her heart warm when she saw the tears in Sally's eyes. Had she really made the woman so happy just by giving her a name?
Hearing Sylvestanya giggle, she looked down to the bundle in her lap and smiled brightly. 'Such a sweetheart.'
When she heard Sally's proposal her eyes went big. A little sister? And her the big sister? She had never thought about it before. When she left her mother she thought she would be alone, but it seemed like she wasn't anymore. She had family now - a little sister!! Alaera grinned brightly and hugged Sylvestanya to her chest.
She looked up to Sally to tell her of course she would love to be her big sister, when the sight of the pumpkin woman made her think of something else...
"Sally" she began hesitantly "What would you be then? I mean is she was my sister and you are her mother..." She trailed off. She already had a mother, one she was just discovering that she had greatly misunderstood and wronged. She couldn't just replace her with another one, no matter how long it had been since she had seen the woman. Sally watched the emotion run across Alaera's face. The girl certainly wasn't very good at hiding them, at least not from her anyway. Uncertainty, hesitation, excitement, happiness, and then as the teen looked at her something else crossed her face. Betrayal, guilt. Sally wasn't quite she what had caused these feeling, at least not until she spoke. Aah, the girl didn't want another mother. Now that she thought about it, where was her mother now?? Oh well the girl would tell her in time if she choose to.
"Well I would be whatever you wanted me to be of course. Certainly not a mother, no, you already have one of those, but someone else to help care for you. You still have some growing to do you know." She smiled at the teen. "I know, how about I be your Aunt Sally?" Alaera grinned. Somehow this other woman knew exactly what was bothering her. Of course, she didn't know it was written all over her face. She bounced up and down with excitement, her power leaking out of her thin control and light spilling off from her skin. She looked down in dismay for a moment before shrugging - who cared she had a family now!! A family always accepted you no matter what! She wasn't afraid to let her power out now and so she enouraged it, lighting up the area as bright as she could (which wasn't much).
She climbed to her feet still holding the baby Sylvestanya with a grin and grabbed Sally's hand, intent on pulling her up and dragging her back to the treehouse. "Come on come on we should get going now before it gets too dark. I may glow but my eyesight is horrible in the dark, I don't want to get lost!! Let's go!!" she exclaimed full of youthful energy. Sally watched in amazement as Alaera started to glow. Just a little at first, then brighter. 'How beautiful she looks like that' she thought, in awe of the teenager's power. She looked between the two of them...'they both have powers...I wonder if I have one as well' but she shrugged and forgot about it.
She pulled against Alaera's hand, resisting her. "Alaera, Alaera slow down child. Why don't you come stay here with us. I know it sounds silly, but this is my family too" she said gesturing to the pumpkins in the garden. "it just feels wrong to abandon them and leave them so helpless. I just can't" she finished, her spirit a little down. She just couldn't leave them to fend for themselves, but what if Alaera couldn't understand that? Sylvestanya really needed someone to look up to and Sally had been around long enough to know it wasn't going to be her. Alaera stopped and looked back and forth between the pumpkins and Sally. She could kinda understand she supposed. It still seemed a little weird but Sally was family now. Where would she live though...she had grown rather attached to her tree...it wasn't fancy or anything but it was home. But she wanted to be with her new family. Alaera was torn.
"Well, I guess I can understand that. " She looked around. "But there is no shelter here. What will you live in?" A that moment she had an idea.
"I know!!" I will keep living in my tree, which isn't far from here, but will come visit you every day and bring you food and stuff, and I can't help build you a place to stay here. How does that sound??" Things seemed like the might actually work out now and she smiled, happy once again. Sally nodded. "That seems reasonable." She actually had her own idea for a house but didn't want to mention it, just in case it didnt work out. She had no idea if she could even do it anyways. Just a feeling a she had.
Sally walked over and pulled the drowsy Sylvestanya out of Alaera's arms. 'Amazing how much sleep these little things need' she thought with a grin as she rocked the child gently.
"So you'll come back tomorrow and visit us right?" she asked looking into the teen's eyes, wanting to be sure the girl was truthful when she responded. Alaera beamed "Of course I'm coming back! I'm a big sister now I have responsibilities. Will get some milk for Sylvestanya and some food for us...wait do you know how to cook? Well it doesn't matter, I'll bring us back some good food. And maybe I can find a book in the library to read to you, would you like that Syl?" she spoke a mile a minute in her excitement.
"So yeah I'll be back tomorrow! If you need me, my tree is just right over there" she pointed in a direction. "Or maybe it was over there...erm well maybe I better go start looking" she said and kissed the top of Sylvestanya's head before racing off.
Sylvestanya is such a sweet little angel and Sally is such a nice warm person. I'm so happy to finally have a family again and not to be alone anymore. I'm going to visit them tomorrow and see what we can do about building them someplace to live in.

Early December 2006
I was lurking about in the HQ today and ran into someone. I know I don't usually talk to people, but she was making something that just smelled so wonderful I couldn't resist it. She even let me try some, it was called cake, and it was sooo good! She seemed nice though. Maybe I will try to meet more people. [chainedfaye] Alaera had been sneaking around the HQ's again, looking for new books to read when she smelled something.....something amazingly good. Forgetting the reason she had come here in the first place, she started sniffing the air following the wonderful scent.
Not paying any attention to where she was going, she barged through doors and over obstacles, determined to find out what smelled so heavenly. Finally reaching the source of it she looked down...
"Cake" she breathed and inhaled the aroma. Torvil Polgara was in the process of making the batter from the third layer of the cake when she heard a voice. She turned her head from her mixing and smiled. "Well hello!" The Elder spoke, allowing her anger to vanish completely as she dealt with an entirely new person. "And who might you be?" [chainedfaye] Alaera jumped as she heard someone talking to her. She hadn't even noticed anyone else there. Blinking, she looked the woman over supsiciously. She didn't look like a Pae....
"Alaera" she finally responded. She paused hesitantly for a few moments before curiosity got the better of her and then the questions burst forth. "Who are you? You don't look like the other Pae I've seen. What are you?" Torvil "My name is Polgara and I am a..." The timer on the oven decided to beep, so Pol signaled for Alaera to wait a moment as she moved to the oven to pull the next layer of her cake out, and then quckly moved to the table and poured the batter for the third in it's pan, and quickly put it in the still going oven and reset the timer. "Well now that that's done..." Polgara laughed as she moved back over and started to make the batter for the fourth layer of her cake.
"My name is Polgara, and I am an Elder, the High Summoner to be exact," She smiled as she mixed eggs flower and sugar together, working hard to make a nice batter for the cake that would be used at the party she intended to throw to announce her bid for Mayor of Telrunya. [chainedfaye] She watched as the woman bustled around the kitchen.
"An Elder? Really? I've never met an elder before. Only read about them. " Alaera cocked her head to one side thinking but the smell of the kitchen distracted her before too long. The new cake she had just taken out of the oven smelled even better than the other one.
"Your cake smells wonderful" she beamed. "Any special occasion?" she asked, secretly hoping to get a small piece. Torvil "Yes actually... Tomorrow I'm going to announce my bid for Mayor of Telrunya, I'll be running against Hi, another Elder..." She smiled at the girl as she poured the fourth layer into it's pan, and did a small count. "This cake is for the party I'm going to thrown then," She smiled and shook her head. "Hmm... Seems I have an extra pan... and extra batter..." She winked at the Alaera, as she poured the 'extra' batter in the 'extra' pan. "I guess my fourth layer can wait for this little cake..." She smiled, making sure it set nicely in the pan. [chainedfaye] "Mayor? That's an important job! I think you would be a good mayor, you seem nice," she nodded seriously. As an after thought she added "Will you bake more cakes if you win??"
Hearing that there was extra batter and a pan, her eyes got huge. Had she still been a child she would have started jumping up and down, but she was a teenager now and settled for a little bounce. "I've never had cake before. It smells yummy."
Bending over she looked into the over, anxiously waiting for it to finish baking, trying her best to hurry it along. Torvil Pol laughed and nodded her head. "Yes, I'll bake more cakes if I win, even if I lose, I'll bake more cakes..." She shook her head slowly and pulled out the pan from the oven to let it cool, before putting in the extra pan so that it could bake for the teen. "The party is tomorrow evening, in a room just off the main hallway in here... I'll put up a sign, that room is going to be my headquarters for the campaign, I do hope you'll attend," She shot another smile at the teen, bowing her head slightly. [chainedfaye] "Tomorrow huh" Alaera replied. She liked Polgara, she seemed really nice, but a meeting meant there would be lots of other Pae. She wasn't sure she was ready to meet so many people yet. Especially in large groups. But she didn't want to let her new friend down. "I will try to come I guess" she agreed.
Hearing that more cakes would be baked, she smiled. "I'm glad you are going to make more cakes. Maybe you could teach me how sometime?" She asked hopefully. If they tasted as good as they smelled, she had a feeling she might really like them. Torvil Polgara smiled. "Sure I would love to teach you how to bake, it won't take long, maybe after the party or heck, maybe the day after if I'm not too busy getting my fliers and pamphlets out, I will need a break now and again..." She laughed and when the timer dinged she pulled the cake pan from the oven. "Let this cool for a bit before you eat..." She smiled. [chainedfaye] Alaera nodded eagerly. She didn't have an oven in her tree, but that didn't mean she couldn't learn to cook. The fruits and nuts in the forest were good, but she was sick of them already. Living on her own was a bit harder than she imagined.
"Maybe I could help you. You know with the little tasks occasionally. For the election" she offered a bit hesitantly as she drooled over the cake waiting for it to cool.
Torvil Polgara smiled and nodded her head as she put her forth and final layer in the oven. "Yeah that sounds good!" She cleans up quickly and then sits down next to her cakes, checking each. She Gets to Alaera's cake and then flips it onto a rack. "You can probably start eating that now," She smiles as she starts to work on layering her cake. [chainedfaye] Hearing that, Alaera grinned her eyes twinkling. She broke off a small piece at first just to give it a taste. Putting it in her mouth she sighed, it was heavenly, tasting even better than it smelled. Wanting more she looked around for a knife or fork but finding none just grabbed a handful and shoved it in her mouth. She was starving, not knowing how to cook (at least not very well anyways).
"MMM this is delicious" she said, her mouth still full of cake, spraying crumbs everywhere. She slapped her hand over her mouth, embarrassed and swallowed before apologizing "Sorry."
Suddenly she was self-conscious about how rude she had been to just barge in uninvited, demand cake, and then forget what was left of her manners. Her cheeks felt red hot as she flushed, her body starting to glow from the intense emotion.
Looking up at the Elder that was so nice to her "Thank you for the cake Polgara, it was really very yummy. Good luck on your campaign. I'm sorry to eat and run but I really must go now. I will see you tomorrow night!" and with that she turned around to leave.
As an afterthought, she turned back, broke off a huge chunk of the cake, smiled and waved at Polgara before disappearing back into the HQ.
Torvil Polgara smiled and shook her head, she didn't mind at all. "See you soon!" She called, before waving goodbye, then heading back to work on her preparations...
