Ra listened to what she had to say and let out a long breath.
"Wow." He said completely stumped by what to say next. She didn't need to say the silent word, he knew what she mean and the thought of it sent a chill through him. He suddenly understood what she meant by one moment, one small skipped descision causing so many problems.
Taking a deep breath he looked at her. Everything suddenly very clear.
"I don't think bad of yu Obie." He said turning and leaning against the back of the sofa. "It could happen to anyone. You're not sure?"

Obie shook her head no and wiped away her tears. "I've only taken the home test. I had gone to Ms. Montecelli and she's going to get a me an appointment with a doctor to be sure. As of right now... I am," she said weakly. When was this going get easy, she wondered.
"I'm so scared Ra. I don't want to go to the doctor and have it become real. I'm not ready, and there's no one I can turn to. No one that can tell me it's going to be alright," she said, putting her hands over her face as she began to cry again. She hated being weak.

Ra watched her, biting his lip. He didn't know what to do or say. She was obviously scared, petrified even but he didn't know what he could do or say to make things better.
Moving a bit closer he put a tentative hand on her shoulder.
"You're not alone Obie, you have friends. Me, Scarlett and by the sounds of things sensei. She won't let you go through this alone."
He paused, suddenly remembering that Obie wasn't the only person in the equasion.
"What about your roommate? Did you tell him? Surely he will be there for you?"

"I did tell him. He wants to keep it if I am, but I don't want to have anything to do with the b*****d," she said bitterly. "He said and did some really awful things to me. As far as I'm concerned he doesn't exist anymore," she said, the coldness that had wrapped itself around her while with Nato returning. Any warmth she thought she had gained from being with him was gone now. She welcomed the ice around her heart. It was just better this way.

Ra frowned at her words. He wasn't sure he like the sound of this guy. Then again Obie was getting vaguer and vaguer as then went on. He shook his head and pulled her into a hug, whether she wanted it or not. In a way she reminded him a bit of Parisa, the many times he had had to comfort her when she was pushing people away.
"It's going to be all right Obie. You are not alone. You can stay here as long as you like."

Obie tensed and opened her eyes wide when Ra suddenly pulled her into a hug, but then turned to bury her face into his shoulder. He was different than anyone she had ever met. They barely knew each other, but she felt oddly... safe in his presence. She didn't have to be cold or strong. He didn't condemn her for being weak.
"I'm really sorry Ra. I really am. I... I just didn't know where else to go," she said, reaching up to wipe away her tears. She felt bad for getting his shirt wet.

Ra shook his head and looked over her shoulder at the bookshelves. This reminded him all too much of Risa, all those times his uncle got depressed and he was the only person she could go to for comfort. He swallowed and suddenly wished his mother could convince his Uncle to let her leave Iran, as now she had no one.
"You don't need to be sorry. Maybe they can sort you out with another room or if not ... I could trade." He sighed and looked back down at her. "Whichever way I don't think it's a good idea for you to go back there just yet."

Obie sniffed and sat up wiping away her tears. She nodded, but she really didn't want him to go to that much trouble on her account. The room was hers. It had been her space. She wanted Nato out. Maybe she should go talk to Jess about it so that she could have some influence in getting him out.
"Do... you mind coming with me back to my room so I can get some of my things?" she asked, looking up into his eyes.

Ra let her go and sat back against the arm of the sofa. At her request he nodded.
"Of course I'll help you." He said simply, picking his juice up from the table and taking a sip.

Obie nodded and swept her hair back over her shoulders. She rose to her feet and looked down at him.
"We should go now. He didn't look like he would be going back to the room any time soon," she said softly and waited for Ra to rise from the sofa as well.
She led the way across the hall and quickly grabbed some clothes and all of her school things as Ra waited right outside the door to her room. They didn't talk. They didn't need to. She wasn't neccessarliy afraid of Nato, she just really didn't want to have anything to do with him right then. When she was finished with her hurried packing she went back to Ra and nodded to him. She followed behind him, glad that Nato had not turned up unexpectedly. When they arrived back in the room, Obie looked around, uncertain of what she was supposed to do now.

Once back in the room Ra shoved his hands in his pockets.
"Well, err, you can make yourself at home." He said with a small smile. "Scarlett will be back soon. She's a brilliant cook. Then we can sort out sleeping arrangements and stuff."
He gave her another reassuring smile and sat down on the sofa.

Obie looked back to Ra as he spoke and gave him a small smile. She really appreciated everything he was doing for her. She set her bag down on the floor by the door and reached into it to grab her book. She slowly went back to the sofa and sat down, tucking her legs underneath her. She looked to Ra one more time, then opened her book and started to read.~~~ Fade to Black ~~~
