Nyek smirked. This cub was good. Laanas son, he knew it was, those eyes. His tail lashed and a deep growl rumbled in his chest as he moved. the jungles wern't exactly far away, his paws knew the swiftest way but he couldn not stop to chatter with the cheetah.

There were things far more important than hanging around and waiting for the soft balls of fluff.

User ImageTaban trotted easily after the pair, giving the small cub an almost scolding scowl as he came up beside the adult lion, the cool, composed expression taking full control over his features, "If it's all the same to you, I'd prefir you keep this cheetah nonesense to yourself... I met with a group of these cheetah creatures. For one- they are spotted -and for two they accepted me as the lion and princeling that I am." He snorted, "And I am fast for a lion through my self-training. I would be valuable to you- to anyone really... but ablilties such as mine only reward the most deserving of lords. If it's all the same to you, I would like to observe your land and how you govern it before making any rash decisions." He grinned a bit, "Any beast that dashes head first into something without knowing the webs laid is as good as food for the lingering dangers that await them, am I right?"

"You continue to say you are a lion." The large male took a breath. It was a cheetah, no lion was so scrawney, though he was certainly larger than your average cheetah for his age, the salmon tinted male would never accept that this was a lion not a cheeth "There is only one way to come to MY oasis" he states "give me your loyalty and your life and you can see paradise." Nyek knew full well it was alot to ask of any beast, especially a cheetah, but if the male aggreed to these terms he would take him along for the ride.

"I must know you will never speak of my lands to any other you will not lead them to my oasis, if you leave and betray me" He growled and paused ever so suddenly his usually bright golden eyes filled with hatred, with anger, with intent to kill, his large black ringed head towering over Taban, he was a fearsome creature to look at white fangs flashing "it would be nothing to me if you were to die under my claws am I clear?" his voice was a whisper though a smirk quickly came back to his maw and he continued on.

The jungle loomed in the distance and he hadn't lost the cub. Looking back to check the youngster was still following him he couldn't help but laugh. A willing follower from the very midst opf his enemies baraks. A cub sure enough but one day, when age caught him and grew his mane he would be a loyal helper, perhaps he would even offer moses one of his, daughters, he assumed there would be at least one of those in amongst his heirs, though it disgusted him to think that he must cope with the female race further, he would mush prefare to cast them in with the slaves. He suppsoed they would be useful as prizes to his highest commanders.

He needed nto to think of these things for the moment, to leave the mistweavers lands behind and bring back a prize as this, if a little foolish to do so, this was a triumph for him. He had not needed to take the cub, it follwoed of it's own accord.

User ImageThe cheetah's expression remained cool and calculated as the lion loomed over him, snarling his threats and demands dangerously. Taban's eyes rose a bit, his head craned just enough to allow him to look to the lion but everything about hid demeanor was smooth. Every move taken as if it was calculated. The faintest tilt of his graceful neck, the slow rise of his brow, and the calm tone of his voice, "I promise nothing." He said simply. "Promises and vows are only words, don't you agree? I could promise right here that I am a vulture and it changes nothing. I can vow until I've grown just as spotty as the creature you mistake me so easily for that I am the sun itself and yet it will never be."

Taban walked himself calmly forward, "If you are fool enough to trust words, little lord, then you'd best watch your back. Words are fragile, things, easily bent and twisted, woven, and stretched." He smirked a bit, turning over a shoulder, his aqua eyes remaining as cool as anything, "But one must take risks shouldn't they? You have no way of knowing that I will say nothing, or everything for that matter. Why at this moment any of your pride could have said something, that cub there might be decieving you. I owe no loyalties. Not to you, not to anyone."

He tossed his head up, "But one must take risks... or he is a coward. Courage isn't defined by sharp claws, large fangs, or a massive body... courage is the ability to use what one has in the most cunning way possible... wars are won with wit, not force."

The young cub growled slightly, a small, feline growl before he finally stopped in his tracks and turned his head smoothly to the lanky, identity mistaken cheetah.
Only to c**k his head before he took a breath and spoke.

"And what wit is it that you have that would win such a war?...hmmm?" A mock curious tone to his voice as his light red, dulled eye's watched him.

"If you are speaking of wit, then you must claim to have some, although, by you, a cheetah who thinks your a lion, like me and Lord Nyekundu, I think you are very much mistaking your own capabilities."

And with that, he turned back and continued to follow the large, salmon lion.
His eye's dead set on the target ahead, before they turned to look up at the large lion he was now going to live with and the rest of his pride.

Nyekundu snorted at Taban "Caution is part of the war cheetah" he stated, his tail lashing "what would I be if I allowed all and sundry to follow me and speak to my enemies of my local? I would be foolish to allow that to happen, don't you aggree?" he snorted, this cheetah was getting on his last nerve. How dare he call him a coward, he was no coward he simply knew his strengths and at the moment, he could not afford to be discovered by a pride larger than his. "Walk away cheetah. I have no wont for your twitsted tongue if it is only good for insulting one far greater than you."

He grumbled though stopped and laughed when moses spoke to the oddly coloured cheetah. "Stay here and grow in to your spots. I have no need for you if you are going to be a yammering fool whom will do nout but insult my ways."

The male licked his white lips and snorted lashing his tail as at last the jungle swam in to clear view and slowly they made it in to the darkness under the canopy. The large male paused, looking to Taban with a snort "Come and be loyal to me alone or stay, I care not, you are not welcome if you are not loyal to me, I have no need for betrayal, when yuo decide where you wish your loyalties lie, I will return. I return occasionally, my pride always needs new stock." He smirked, he loved refarreing to his slaves, his servants as mere pawns, which is what they were, they were there to expand the pride, feed the royals and do his bidding, that was their purpose in life.

He waited, looking up at the sun for the cheetahs reply. He could not wait for too long, they must reach the far jungle edge before night falla nd they had alot of travelling to do.

Moses watched with undeterred(sp?) patience as Nyekundu awaited the cheetah's reply, a small, rare smirk lighting the cub's feature's as he gently moved the lock of his black hair to the side of his face, so his other eye was obscured.

He just really wanted to get out of this place and see this kingdom of white sands, his light red eye's watching the speedy feline closely.

User ImageTaban continued forward, hardly seeming phased by the question of his loyalty, the talk of purpose and other such nonsense. "A clever beast would know that words can be twisted, warped, skewed... actions my dear conquer, are the only things that can be taken as truth. I could say that I devote myself to your cause, I could say that the sky is pink as your nose and the ground a living beast but that does not make it so. However I could follow you to your lands and prove myself as either friend or foe- let you determine which I am.... I could show you the abilities that I've been blessed with. The fruits of my training and my prowess on the field." He quirked a brow, looking back to the lion, "I would like to see your lands but I am not a beast that is easily bound to one location. I have no friends to spew your precious secrets to. A lone lion hardly takes interest in the affairs of the prides around him. My only constant companion is my bodyguard- a maned wolf who hardly speaks anything but nonsense."

He rounded himself to face Nyk, tossing his head back. "So... will you allow me the chance to show you by my actions the manner of beast I am? Or will you like the futile assurance of a verbal agreement that's as easily broken as crumbled ground?"

Nyekundu seethed quietly. This beast annoyed him but he could be put in line one way or another. All this clever talk. He knew caution was his greatest ally at the moment. He had no wish to be attacked by one of the enemy prides. Still. Perhaps the cheetah could be useful even if he was completely insane. "keep close, we have to be away by night fall."

With that said the large male was off in a completely random direction. It wasn't until the heady scent of bird guano filled the air that Nyekundu paused. He smirked at the two followers and licked his lips. This jungle, it could have been his home but he had a better place than this. This was simply his through way. In the center of this guano pit the pink tinted male turned again, following a line of the birds flight.

The sound of the river soon came to their ears as they followed this line. It was pretty clear what he was doing. Covering his scent. Of course when they reached the river the large male only paused to lift the cub. He said nothing. He had no need to he plummeted in to the water. The stream was fast and only his black mane and pink tinted head could be seen as he was rushed away. He had done this before. It was a good tactic. No beast could scent through water. The river had washed them a good two miles down before the big male finally kicked for the shore clambering out up a steep slimey slope. The scent of water lizards filled the air. Clambering to the top of the bank Nyekundu dropped moses without so much as a how do he was off again, following the trail of the lizards. Their scent was strong. This scent soon came to an end though he turned again heading towards another guano pit.

This one was filled with the sound of fruit bats, their screeches above filled their ears. His golden eyes looked from left to right before he was away again wading through the heady acrid smell. Another line, the bats obviously followed similar paths every night, their waste covered the ground.

Nyekundu was a good couple of miles doing this, following the lines of the bats, never pausing, never speaking until they came to a revine. "I hope you can jump" He muttered to noone in particular. He trailed onwards coming to a point that was jumpable even by a cub. He leapt accross and kept going. There was no stopping now, the heat of the afternoon was making the jungle humid. His fur was covered in damp dropletts of water. At last, the last stretch.

A dry arid scent lifted to their noses and they passed through a small belt of deep green trees. The shadow of these goliaths kissed the sand. He smirked and lay down slowly settling down to clean his filthy paws with a disgusted look on his face "rest, we leave at sunset" He smirked and said no more continuing to clean his claws of the state they had gotten in.

User ImageThe cheetah took the journey with an almost unatural calm and ease. He didn't seem in a hurry at any time and though the pace was quick he had no trouble keeping up. He was constantly looking about, pausing now and then to sharpen his claws on a treestump or rub off his face on a stone. This dry, surface air was strange and left an itch in his fur.

At the river he winced, not at all liking the idea of actually wading through it- and being small himself he followed along the river bed. He would manage to keep ahead of the large lion for lack of having to fight the stream so now and then he'd roll on the ground to remidy the strange feeling of the surface air, rub his shoulders against a tree or a stone. He didn't like it... but every little bit helped. In crossing the river he picked his way over a few lower branches, his weight was just light enough to do so and carry on.

He also made a habbit of avoiding the droppings. Bats were something he was all too familar with- good eating if he could catch one large enough. In their swarms it was all too easy to bat a few out of the air and fill his small belly with. He paused to scrape his claws on the rocks here and there, keeping them in the shape he needed for his particular style of hunting.

At the ravene Taban only laughed at the suggestion of beng able to jump, almost strolling down the rocks. He was built for the stones it seemed. His claws were dull, very dull but they were hooked and thicker so they provided excelent grip. Obviously the slides and shifts of a rocky terrain was something he was quite adapted to. He stopped now and then to rub against the dusty surfaces, coating himself with the dust, more aid to the strange feeling in his fur.

Once they came to a stop he rolled himself about before settling down on a fallen log, damp from decay and soft under his body. A welcome comfort. "Hmm.. a good stroll. Not the farthest I've gone but a decent ammount of land behind us." He yawned lazily, stretching his long limbs out in front of him.

The cub took off at his own speed after the large male, finding the smell of bird droppings that they followed rather pungent as his small white muzzle wrinkled.

However, when it came to the river, he just gave a small gance up at the golden eye'd male before he was picked up by the large male and he suddenly jumped into the cold water with the white cub in his mouth.
The tiny male's eye's shot wide open, not out of fear, but because it was so damn COLD!

As he scrambled up on to the river bank and dropped Moses, the young cub narrowed his eyes a little, but continued after his new ruler.
Wet fur clinging to his body as he plodded behind slowly, his red eye's taking in the detail of the border's of these lands.

So far away from home.

And loving it.

When the small ravine came, the melancholy cub jumped it with ease, but took no prideful look in doing so.
He just wanted to get over the damn thing, his claws grinding the ground as they traveled further into the direction of his new home.

It was finally time to rest.
Great.
The cub lay down and took a few, small, but deep breaths before he began to clean his mucky white fur.

"I personally can't wait to see your kingdom of white sands." He said softly.
PostPosted: Mon Jun 05, 2006 1:32 pm

"That was only the begining cub that is the real obsticle" He pointed a claw out to the white sands which flowed away for miles before them. There was nothing in sight just white flowing forever moving sands. The occasional flurry was cast in to the air and the bitg male watched with a content smirk on his maw.The desertt, where no scent stayed for very long at all. Ot was fine playing games to get through the jungle, covering his scent but this place, this place was the begining of the real journey. Of course, he was not fool enough to go and start making his way across the desert in daylight but the little diversion through the jungle would slow any trackers enough for them to be long gone and away in to the desert before they even arrived at the edge.

The pink tinted male looked to Moses and gave a smirk looking out over the desert "You will like it there cub it is a land of adventure of beginings of ambition. one day My pride will bethe strongesta nd we will march upon others and rule them as an Empire under my claws" He would have purured if he could instead he made a content grumbling down and looked at the newest and possibly youngest of his foll;owers "you will be a great one indeed under my rule Moses you will be a general at the head of my forces." He paused, he could see great potential in the cub, he could see many things and a lack of compasion for other beasts was one which seemed to eminate from this youngster. "Weare small now, but one day we will be great. Time is on our side after all" He licked his lips, he was an adult but he was young reckles and fre with a mate carrying the heirs to his future kingdom.

Finally the sun started to set, it had barely been an hour since they had started to rest stretching his claws the big male started to walk without a word to his followers. "come, we have to get moving if we are going to make it before dawn. the desert is deadly in the sunlight." He snorted, the sands swiftly cooled beneath his toes his jet black mane falling over his cheeks and golden yellow eyes. This was part of the journey he enjoyed. he could loose creatures he didn't want out here. he knew the way he knew the pitfalls though the sands shifted often it was easy enought o loose a followerif he deemed that he didn't want them. Still, he wouldn't mind the cheetah coming with him. idiot as it was it mught be useful."stay close, these sands are deadly" growling softly he went silent, traveling was hard on the sands he had to keep his wits about him. Even he could get lost should somethign untoward happen, like a sand storm, though they usually happened in the day time they wern't unheard of.

The sands were cold quickly and he was glad of his mane and fur. ice started to settle upon the granuals. A styrange place this desert, it facinated hima nd he loved it for it's protection but still, it was strange.

Dawns first light kissed the horizon as the glimmer of the oasis came in to view. their foot falls were not visable behind them, Only the gods and Nyekundu knew where they had travelled from. He used the stars to guide him, he knew wheer home was it pulled for him to returna nd there it was. The oasis, HIS oasis, the mans ruins were clearly visable in the distance great stone monalyths still errect after many years despite storms and the distruction of the mans civiliasation that was there long before the lions were. "Welcome to My oasis" he whisperd slowly stepping on to the cobbled ground where grass leapt between the stones. It was home, HIS home and he knew it well, it was to say the least a facinating place just to look at. he smirked, awaiting reactions, he would drink and bathe and leave them to their own devices. he needed to see afu, despute the fact that she was, becoming rotund, ugh, he needed to speak to her of his success out side their lands. he would not leave again for at least a little while. There were things that needed to be done.

User ImageTaban walked along in complete silence through the journey through the white sands. There the air was very dry, very strange. There was no scent to be traced for long nor any forms to landmark- clevery indeed... this little pink emperor was a clever one. If Nyk cared to turn back he'd notice that Taban's eyes, too, were turned upwards to the skies, his expression as unreadable as ever.

As a cub, he had lived in secret under the protection of a firekin slave and his blind mate. Korvo, the lord of the underground, had been a slave in a desert not too unlike this. They, too, navigated by the stars in the sky, traveling by night when the sands wouldn't glare brightly up at them- which was often enough to blind a lion on a sunny enough day. The sands didn't burn but they shifted, much to the discomfort of the cheetah.

He glanced around him once they came upon the oasis, taking another slow look to the night sky as the stars began to fade with the morning. Smirking a bit he looked ahead, his bright eyes taking in the scenery. "A nice establishment... very well hidden though I don't see enough lions to hardly begin such an ambitious military movement... cubs, cubs, and more cubs..." He shook his head making a 'tsk' sound, "Well all in time."

He rolled his great shoulders about, "Well gentlemen, it was a nice journey. If it's all the same to you I'm going to get a drink and rest myself. This dry air is a bit of an annoyance on my nerves, but the damp night's a comfort. Again, if it's all the same to you I'll be making use of the shade in the day and getting some rest. I won't afterall, be in top invading shape without a good rest." He chuckled, flicking the end of his tail.
PostPosted: Tue Jun 06, 2006 12:53 am

Young Moses followed diligantly(sp?), red eye's set forward on his goal as he took in Nyekundu's word's of the young Mistweaver becoming a general and of the Pink tainted male's dreams of an empire writhing beneath his claws and whim.

He found it quite a sight within his mind's eye.

All the while his eye's took in every detail should he need to cross the desert again, though he highly doubted he'd have too.
But, all the same, you had to be prepared just incase.

And the coolness was a welcome change to the humid regions of his ex-home, his red eye's watching his travelling companions in his emotionless melancholy way.
Not saying anything to them in the meanwhile.

With dawn's light against the slowly tiring cub's white fur, he gave a wince and sped up so he padded at Nyekundu's side, his paws sinking slightly into the sand's before he looked up to take in the sight of the Oasis before him.

The ancient ruins and monalyth's intrigued his curious young mind as he gave the first, solitary and curious blink at the sight, his mouth slightly agape as he took it all in and then looked up at Nyekundu.

"Luck must have smiled upon you to give you such a paradise, Lord." He said.

As the cheetah spoke, he turned to watch him, taking little notice of his words before he winced at the small flick of the tail.
He found this creature truly arrogaunt in a way.
But maybe that was just him.

He then moved to explore this new place, which was now, his home.

Nyek watches the cheetah go. he had a plan for that one. he wouldn't scorn him so lightly.

Looking to moses he smirked "there are sleeping places within the ruins. Make yourself at hom." he chuckled lashing his tail a bit "I must away to see my mate but I will return shortly" Licking his lips he nudghed the cub "welcome to my pride boy I have great plans" he whispers sliipping off in to the oasis to his own place, his palace within the ruins. His place to gloat to Afu of his newest success.
