Well, seeing as I live in Hawai'i, of course we're going to learn the hula. We have to learn at least one hula every year, as well as sing in the Hawaiian language. I suppose it depends on where you live, how accepted it is. We have just had a festival where ten different choirs from around the country gather together and sing songs of the pacific rim. there were hawaiian songs, tahitian songs, maori (new zealand) songs, japanese songs, chinese songs, and whatever else.

and i think it's wrong that people laughed at you just because you did the hula. It's expanding your horizons! You don't see the Band people going to hawaii and do the hula, or even do hawaiian music!

heh... yeah. Sometimes. I mean, there are different types of choirs.

I think, besides from special events, the only choirs that do it on a regular basis are show choirs. Those are a lotta fun, especially when both your dance partner and yourself can't dance for beans. ^^;

I'm in show choir and concert choir. In show choir we obviously dance, but in concert choir I don't think I ever have. We danced in choir during middle school though. Every year we had a theme for a pop show. and the high school show choir would choreograph the songs for us!

Kali the Fallen
4 Words: High School Pop Show. Every year the choirs get together and do diffenet "pop" style songs and we dance to them. And our teachers were two white girls razz like me! So not very good moves so yeah we dance every year >.O
My high school does a thing called pops concert thats sort of like that except our director directs all the choirs for the school and he only made the little munchkin choirs dance. We got to do a "journey" song too. It was sweet

I am in my school Show Choir and our Concert choir. Of course we dance in Show Choir..... that's why it's called show choir.... In concerct choir in the spring we do a pop concert and dance..... it takes about 6 weeks to teach the 72 kids in choir to dance but it's worth it..... it looks better on stage......

its actually good to dance while you sing. it helps keep the beat, and gets you more into the music.

i'm very against just singing a song... you need to understand the true meaning and tone wether its a silly little disney song or something from Phantom. it makes you sound that much better, too.

i don't mean you have to do crazy hand movements and spin around like an idiot (even though i do that anyway... yes i get made fun of but i don't really care), but rocking to the music, closing your eyes, thinking about your relation with the song, etc helps AMAZINGLY but all while keeping perfect choir posture of course. : ]

Two words. Classical period.

My teacher came back from some trip to Austria and decided that our spring program (which is usually choreographed) is gonna be Mozart themed. We all had to do some god-awful Classical circle dance. What made it worse was we were all wearing wigs, hot dresses and three of us (me included) actually got to wear period-era wear.

It sucked.

Ooo, last year Women's Chamber Choir did a kickline at the end of "One." It was pretty awesome, but our director last year was so lacking in coordination that he danced off stage to avoid getting caught up in it. ^^;;
That's a little different, I guess.
