Jess continued the rest of their regime in silence, only stopping to talk once they were finished. "A few things. The slave drivers at work, that girl in the dojo." She shrugged and picked up the corner of one of the mats. "Just stuff. Do you want to go for a run by the river to warm down?" She asked as she dragged two of the mats into the store.

Kayne accepted her silence. He didn't want to be pushing buttons when he didn't have to. Not today. Not when he actually got to spend time with her. When she stopped, he evened out his breathing and rested his hands on his hips. He frowned again at her answer. That girl? He let that roll around in his head as he bent down to help her put the mats away.
"Yeah. That sounds good," he said, sliding the mats in behind her then stepping out. "Are you ready?"

"Sure." She said with her first smile of the evening. Taking up the keys she switched off the lights and stepped out. "Let's go" She said shoving the keys into her pocket and breaking into a sprint towards the gates.
She couldn't wait to get outside the school grounds. It was almost as if she had been stuck under water for too long and was in a life and death need to reach the surface.
Once through the gates she slowed down to a jog heading along the main road and down onto the dark banks of the wide river. "Ugh, that feels better doesn't it." She sighed evening her pace and her breathing out.

Kayne followed her, a bit surprised at her desperation to get off campus. He was grateful when she slowed her pace and even more so when they got down to the river. The air felt so much fresher down by the water and he smiled when she decided to speak again.
"Aye, it does," he said glancing over at her. To be honest, he was a bit worried about her. "So you care to explain what was going on with you back there?" he asked turning his head forward again.

Giving a small laugh at his question she flopped down onto the pitch black grass and stared up at the stars. They were so clear, not affected by the light pollution of the cities. "You'll laugh at me if I tell you." She said pulling up some of the damp grass and throwing it over her knees. "The other day, after practice ... when you went off with Aine ..." She pause. This was so degrading and he was going to make fun of her for expressing it. "I felt a bit jealous I suppose. Mainly because she pissed me off so much, to see you being so nice to her really irked me." She shrugged and waited for the taunts.

Kayne stood over as she plopped down on the grass. Breathing deeply to catch his breath he listened to her and it took him a moment to register the meaning of what she said. A slow smirk spread across his lips.
"Oh really now?" he asked sitting down next to her. He reached out and brushed a curl off of her face. He couldn't hold it in any longer and burst into a fit of laughter.
"Oh Jess, you silly eejit. Why on earth would you waste your time and energy on getting all worked up like that? I couldn't just be mean to her," he laughed, reaching down to take her hand in his.

"Don't laugh at me." She said pulling her hand from his and slapping him on the shoulder playfully. She sat up. "I know you couldn't be mean to her. I'm not stupid." She smirked and turned to face him, crossing her legs and picking at the grass again.
"This is just sooo hard. I mean you have friends and girly princesses to keep you occupied, I have training and Morimoto ... it's not really the fairest deal." She grinned and looked up at him through the darkness. "It's hard for you too right?"

Kayne stopped laughing, but continued to smile at her and took both of her hands in his. He laced his fingers through hers and gave his head a bit of a shake.
"Jess... I'm not going to lie to you. It is hard for me. Very hard, but I can see how it would be harder for you. Can you just not make friends here?" he asked with light concern in his eyes.

Jess squeezed his hands and gave him a small smile. "I've tried." She said looking to a spot just over his shoulder. "I mean there's Chiyo, who I went drinking with and Yusuke, despite his quirks, but they're just not the same. They don't get me entirely. Well, Chiyo's fun, but still. I can't be myself around them the way I can around you."
She wrinkled her nose at what she was saying. "Ugh, listen to me getting all sweet talky." Keeping her hands in his she flopped backwards pulling him with her. "I'll deal with it. It'll just make the time we do get to spend together more fun."

Kayne listened to her, watching her face in the dimly lit darkness. He laughed lightly when she wrinkled her nose and admitted how sappy she was sounding, even though he didn't mind it. When she pulled him over her, he shifted slightly to lie more comfortably on top of her, keeping his fingers entwined with hers.
"Aye," he said smiling down at her. He leaned down and kissed her lips lightly then finally pulled one of his hands away to run his fingers through her hair.
"You silly woman," he said softly with a smirk as he thought about her being jealous again. "Are you going to kick my arse every time you see me with another girl?"

Jess smiled as he got comfortable, she liked the feel of his weight on hers. Ironically he had a larger build than the other guys she had dated. He was taller too, it made her feel more feminine in a wierd way. Not that she would admit it.
With her now free hand she traced her fingers lightly up and down his spine. "Not everytime." She said softly. "Though sometimes maybe." She smirked with a wink. "It was just because she rubbed me up the wrong way. And ... she's your age, is all cute and girly." She shrugged and splayed her hand flat on his back. "As I said, I'm being stupid. Ignore me." She grinned and squeezed his hand in hers again.

"Oi, if I wanted cute and girly, why would I have even bothered to fall for you?" he asked, leaning down to nibble on her neck. "You are what you are Jess, and that's what I like about you." His hand slowly made its way down the side of her body till it reached the bare skin of her firm stomach exposed by her cropped top.
"That was a good kick though. Not fair because I hadn't learned it yet, but good," he smiled against her neck.

She smiled though wasn't entirely reassured. God she was in a wierd mood this evening. She had no reason to be getting worked up about all this stupid stuff. They were just messing around afterall. Nothing serious. Feeling her hand move across her stomach she smiled and pulled him close for a deep kiss. "Maybe next week." She murmured. "But then you'd only be able to use it against me."

"I like working against you. Just in case you haven't noticed," he smirked against he lips. He wished they were back in her room. There was no reason for him to have to run away today. He wanted to be with her and he didn't care how as long as he could hold her in his arms. He kissed her softly, still thinking about the significance of her being jealous. So did that really mean that she thought of him as hers? They had just let things happen so far. So did this mean that they were in a for real relationship? God how he hated being plagued with questions he wasn't sure of.
"Jess..." he started as he moved to nibble lightly on her ear, "Why are you feeling so possesive all of a sudden?" He asked the question softly, tracing lines on her bare stomach.

Jess narrowed her eyes at his question. She wasn't being possessive, she had just been pissed off. Jess shifted moving him to his back , sitting astride him so she could look down into his grey eyes. "I'm not being possessive." She said, leaning forwards, her fingers running into his hair. "I told you, she just annoyed me. I don't like losing to weak people." She said kissing him once more to shut him up.
