...Dude, seriously? *_* Ohman. I wish I had someone I could play shon'ai with, but my only other friend familiar with Cherryh hasn't read the Faded Sun. sad Alas.

heart yissss. my friend read it first, and proceeded to make all of us (3-4) other people play too. then we would randomly initiate people we didn't know into the circle with a quick rundown haha. <3
and you should totally make your friend read faded sun! pelt her with it! xd heart

I totally should; I've got an extra copy now just for the peltings.
More than anything, I'd love to see shon'ai being played. >D (I'm much more Kath or Sen than I am Kel, so I'd likely not be tremendously good at first.)

Cee! Merai's awesome! He sounds like such an interesting character! (And I love Simplicity. I remember reading your entry she totally captured my heart.) Fwoh~! You should post those entries here if you still have them and let people indulge. <3 All the Mri ties are very intriguing, but it had me a bit confused until I looked it up on wikipedia. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mri You may want to give us unenlightened folk a little background, as I see you plan to. biggrin Edit: And reading that article makes me REALLY wanna read the books! Okay, I lied. Added a little bit more on how Merai and Simplicity will change over time. biggrin I think I've found a principle plot thread with them. Also, a request for opinions from the other questers and the current FeeDee guardians--should I have this change (of Merai to being more of a kel'en, and Simplicity to being his counterpart, representing the other two castes) be set in stone, or should I make it a possibility that it could go...well, not QUITE the other way, but with Merai being more Sen to Simplicity's Kel and Kath?

This is really facinating, and looks like it would be a lot of fun to explore. I really love the interconnection between forgotten and daemon, and the connection that both of them have to the excerpt. There's a lot of depth here, and I can't see anything I'd want to change.
There's a lot to make them both interesting to interact with, and I think they'd be a great addition to FD.
I wouldn't set anything in stone just yet. While I like the idea of Merai acting out one caste, while Simplicity acts out the other two, I'd keep that as a plan, but leave it open to the possibility of Merai's caste affliliation changing as he grows.

Yeah the concept seems cool but I really don't grasp it. I think right now its way too heavily relying on details of that mythology. I haven't read the book so I have no idea what most of it means. Yes a glossary helps but I have to go back and cross reference just to read through it. I'm sure, essentially, in playing in the shop the mythology is only relevant to your storyline but it is very confusing right now for someone to read through who is a veritable lay person of this fictional world.

That's largely why I included the glossary, and I'll be doing an expanded write-up on the concept. I just need to finish putting all the bits in place. biggrin
And yeah, it does borrow heavily from the mythology. It's...the idea I had, and I'm sticking with it.
