Zethyr's indigo eyes glanced about as he fingered his headphones, looking for this...Mathiaz person who was to be his partner. He knew who he was by sight, but had never really talked to him. Sighting the other, he waved a hand, "Hoy! Mathiaz!"

Dariyn wasn't sure just who was to be his teammate, though he...thought he knew, at least...remembered him from the chess game. However, without a guide the Phlegm was wandering about aimlessly, without direction, being unable to find anyone he knew now that Zethyr had gone off to find his teammate.

Arron bounced a bit on his heels, eager to go and chomping at the bit, bright-eyed gaze full of energy, as was his demeanor. Taking a deep breath, he tried to calm himself. He was paired with a girl, yeah? Well...maybe she'd find him...if not, he was fairly confident he could handle himself.

4. Find an Image of a Phoenix.
Answer: Foh-ee-nix.
5. List three different interpretations of the Owl as represented in specific cultures, religions, symbolism etc.
Answer:

1.The Aztecs and Mayans, along with other natives of Mesoamerica, considered the Owl a symbol of death and destruction. In fact, the Aztec god of death, Mictlantecuhtli, was often depicted with owls. There is a saying in Spanish that is still in use today: cuando el tecolote canta, el indio se muere ("when the owl cries/sings, the Indian dies"). The word "tecolote" means owl and is used in some parts of Mexico, although the proper Spanish word for "owl" is "buho".

2.In Indian culture, a white owl is considered a companion of Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth, and therefore a harbinger of prosperity. The owl has been adapted as an emblem to reflect its implications of wisdom (Wise old owl) by a revered military institution in India known as the Defence Service Staff College. In colloquial use, however, it is commonly used to refer to stupidity.

3.The Romans, in addition to having borrowed the Greek associations of the owl (see Owl of Minerva), also considered owls to be funerary birds, due to their nocturnal activity and often having their nests in inaccessible places. As a result, seeing an owl in the daytime was considered a bad omen. The vampiric strix of Roman mythology was in part based on the owl.

Rolling her eyes, Aysel tensed as her name was shouted and roared for all to hear. She had the distinct feeling that if she was to be partnered with Cyphr, that she would need to adjust her headphones so that she could barely hear at all. Making her way stiffly through the crowd, she briskly tapped the boy's shoulder. "I am Aysel." She told him softly...follow my example, boy, and maybe I'll tolerate you. "And you're hurting my ears. Could you quiet down, please?"

Jaenelle couldn't help but feel excited at the prospect of being able to leave the normal Stage Zero confines and further explore the Empyrean world, no matter how supervised it was. In the Melancholy's opinion, the more supervised the better. After her close encounter with a Lamia the could have ended her life, Jaenelle had often wondered if she still maintained the fortitude and courage to live life on her own.
Energized with her realization that she was looking forward to the event, Jaenelle sought out her partner. Did the Professor purposefully pick out the most lacey and frivilous girl in the class? Though when she filed next to Jaenelle as the group headed out, her greeting made the Melancholy think better of her. She wasn't complaining about being outdoors, or worrying about the bugs. Taken off guard, she smiled back at the girl. "Yes, it is. My name is Jaenelle." She realized, as she held out her hand for the other girl to shake, she could directly blame the Twins' influence on her for this 'nice' side she'd been showing lately.

And in Madagascar it is said that owls gather with witches to dance on the graves of the dead.
3. The Celts believed that the owl carries the souls of the deceased into the Land of Youth, Tir nan Og or Avalon, the Isle of Apples. The Four Branches of the Mabinogion, a collection of Celtic myth and lore, tells us a special story of the owl: Blodeuwedd is a woman made from 9 flowers by a wise magician for the hero Gwydion who could not love a mortal woman. Grave smiled softly and shook his head. "I'm afraid I'm quite hopeless with plants. I've done a bit of reading about them, so I know how it ought to be done, I'm just not particularily skilled at putting that knowledge to work." Grave filed along through the City streets, looking up at the building around him and taking in deep breaths. "I promise I'll work hard, though, Blayk." He was a One, now, afterall. It would do no good to put forth less effort simply because he did not enjoy working with plant life.

Danna smiled a little more boldly, seeing the girl she was with was not as cold as she at first thought. "There's no need to worry. We have strong Gatekeepers protecting us, and we've got all the supplies we need. If we have any questions, it's Quenda herself leading us. We'll be fine." Danna tried to reassure her partner. She wasn't in the least competative, but she hoped they'd get a good haul of Mandrake root so that they could support Empyrean City.

When Aysel tapped him on the shoulder, Cyphr let out a shrill little yell and whipped about. "Oh, jeeze! I dinna hear you!!" He hollared, blinking owlishly as the dark girl fiddled with his headphones. Hurting her ears?? "Why hurtings?" Cyphr asked, at a far more reasonable volume, now that his headphones were properly adjusted. "Is yous sick?" Cyphr frowned; he really hoped they -hadn't- paired him up with a sick person. How was he supposed to harvest Mandrake all by himself? "Can you still pull up roots, then?" Cyphr asked, peering at her with considerable concern.

Sick? Blinking in confusion, Aysel rocked back on her heels and clasped one of her wrists behind her back. Why would he think that she was ill? "I can pull up roots, yes." She responded dully, gritting her teeth a bit. Something about this little bundle of energy grated on her nerves, though she didn't for the life of her know what exactly what that something was. "I'm not sick...you were just too noisy." Eyes darting up to his, Aysel suddenly thought (late, late, was it too late?) that perhaps she should try and be civil to Cyphr, if only for the sake of making things more pleasant for the duration of the time she had to spend with him. "Ah...I'm Aysel, by the way." she added, forcing a smile and extending her hand to him. "You ready to go dig up some roots?"

"Well, I think we'll do alright, as long as we both try," she said with a nod, itching idly at the side of her nose. Because the Choleric wasn't used to getting such smooth conversation, she looked about to try and find another topic about which to speak... "So what are you good at?" she asked bluntly. Was she being rude? The female hoped not, because friends didn't come easily to her. "I like stuff that involve using my hands. Like... physical stuff, I guess." She shrugged, and offered a bit of a grin.

Nadyrr watched the three given the title of protectors a moment. His eyes slightly wide they were definantly a bit intimidating...then again so was his partner. Glancing over at Lucis from the corner of his eye he studied him a moment...the other boy definantly looked older. Then again Nadyrr reminded himself that Lucis was a stage one and so he should look older. The reminder didn't hlep Nadyrr feel less uneasy however, as they started off he looked to his taller partner and nodded slightly speaking softly and hoping the other had his headphones set so he could hear at least for now. "Uhm...seems we are partners...my name is Nadyrr." Nadyrr didn't waste much time with talking but hrried along so as to not lose his place alongside his much taller partner.

5. 5.Owl (Cailleach, Oidhche, Comachag): These birds were most often associated with the Crone aspect of the Goddess. The word "cailleach" in the Scottish-Gaelic means "owl". The owl is often a guide to and through the Underworld, a creature of keen sight in darkness, and a silent and swift hunter. It can help unmask those who would deceive you or take advantage of you.

In Ancient Greek mythology the Owl was a creature sacred to Athena, Goddess of the night who represented wisdom. Athena, the Greek Goddess of Wisdom had a companion Owl on her shoulder, which revealed unseen truths to her. Owl had the ability to light up Athena's blind side, enabling her to speak the whole truth, as opposed to only a half truth.

The demoness Lilith is thought to have been associated with (screech) owls as well, by way of the King James version of the bible translation of the passage in Isaiah 34:14:

14The wild beasts of the desert shall also meet with the wild beasts of the island, and the satyr shall cry to his fellow; the screech owl also shall rest there, and find for herself a place of rest.

Prior to the rise of Islam, owls were considered bad omens and associated with evil spirits in most Middle Eastern pagan traditions. In modern times, although such superstitions are less prevalent, owls are still popularly considered "evil" because of their fierce, horrific appearance.

9.Evergreen: a plant having foliage that persists and remains green throughout the year.

15.Açaí Palm is a member of the genus Euterpe, which contains 7 species of palms native to tropical Central and South America, from Belize south to Brazil and Peru, growing mainly in floodplains and swamps.
Lucis regarded the group's protectors with admiration and curiosity as they moved out, headphones resting lightly about his neck on the spikes lining his collar. After a moment's travel he donned his phones, tucking his eartips carefully into the pads and taking a second to play with the settings. It wasn't long before his assigned partner joined him; Lucis caught sight of Nadyrr as he hurried to catch up, his eyes drawn to the bright assortment of colours, he slowed his stride a little bit, conscious of shorter legs. He returned the Zero's greeting as it was offered with a polite nod, responding in turn with his own. "Hello, there. I'm Lucis."

Torrid applied his headphones to his head as Quenda gave her instructions, impressed with how nifty they were. After a few tweaks the sound was where he liked it. He didn't care especially about the harvest, gardening was not an interest he kept, but he was willing to do what his city needed of him and the hardware was a nice perk. After a long look at the fierce-looking group of Threes dispatched to guard them, he cast a look about as the massed party started to move, hoping his partner would join him soon. Galadrae, he thought, pleased with himself for remembering her name. Couldn't recall what she looked like, though. Drat.

Biwa had to ask Quenda who her partner was, which was more than a bit embarrassing. But eventually, she trotted over, looking a bit absurd with her headphones on and her fan in front of her face, covering all but her eyes.

"Aah... um... A-Arron?" she asked, tentatively, blushing brightly enough that it could be seen touching the area around her eyes.

[Alchemist.exe]

Ubel was one who was... definitely intrigued about going outside, but certainly quite nervous about it. For they had been told, time and again, that it was dangerous out there... He was determined, though, to do all that he could to ensure he did his best in this task - or set of tasks, it seemed. Such an interesting new event... Ubel sighed softly, looking around a little for Jakov and shifting awkwardly.
Jakov was thrilled past the point of words. So freshly awoken was he that he'd not yet even attended a class, and here he was on an outing! Exciting times indeed. His headphones recieved careful scrutiny before they were deemed cool enough to be an addition to the Sanguine's outfit, and he donned them with relish. He bit his lip, scuffling along as he looked for the Melancholic that was to be his partner. He'd met Ubel once briefly before the event, and looked forward to more of his company. After a moment's search, Jakov spotted his team mate and sprinted to close the distance between the two of them.

Upon reaching Ubel, he stumbled, stopping just short of plowing into him entirely. An easy grin lit up his features as he regained his balance, giving Ubel a friendly flail of a wave. "Hi..! " He chirped, enthused.

Quenda pulled up slow as the reached the outer gate. It had taken them nearly a day of travel, but finally, they'd reached the North Gate. It was time. She signalled the oldest of the four Gatekeepers, Danek, and he readied his key. Then she waved one hand to draw everyone up close. "Alright, this is it! Get ready for the Outside."

Before them the gate ground and clanked, the many gears and plates of metal whirring and sliding, pulling back to create an opening wide enough for them to pass through. Beyond, the dense and dark forests of the northern shield rose up ominous and ancient. The sounds of a wild forest could be heard, for all those that had sorted out their Headphone settings, birds calling, twigs snapping in the distance, leaves and needles rustling in the high cold wind. The Outside.

Quenda pulled out of the gate. She'd left the City countless times before, but never with such a gaggle of young ones in tow. She had a moment's panic before she caught sight of Lorissa sliding calmly out of the gates to her left. Everything would be fine. "This way to the Mandrake plots, everyone." Quenda spoke just loud enough to be heard by the group and then took a sharp right, following a thin path worn through the forest by footfall.

Nadyrr nodded slightly to his partner and then glanced around to everyone else as they spoke, it seemed that they were all getting acquainted with each other. Nadyrr wondered if he should be saying more to his partner but then realized he would have very little to say. Nadyrr really wanted to ask some about his change since it was obvious that his partner was a stage one. Biting his lip a little he made sure to keep pace, he suspected that his partner was also mindful of it so he didn't want to slack off.

"Uhm, so your a stage one..." Nadyrr continued to walk but watched the other boy out of the corner of his eye, "does it feel much different?" he blurted out his curiousity getting the best of him and causing his cheeks to flush furiously.

10. Manticore: A legendary monster having the head of a man, the body of a lion, and the tail of a dragon or scorpion.

Belwen beamed happily when her partner answered her. And then took the girl's hand and gave her a firm but not overly firm shake, "I love meeting new people. And this event is perfect for it. Though I wish I would have known, I would have dressed differently for the class." Belwen shrugged slightly and glanced down at her dress. "I suppose it's a good thing that I have other dresses." She mused to herself, however her musing and talking were cut off as she got a better look at their guards her eyes a bit wide and excited. She did her best to not ask tons of questions if one got closer to her part of the group. Though she did take a moment to spare a whisper to Jaenelle, "The guards are really something..."

Arwen touched her headphones nonchalantly; her true intention was to adjust and readjust the things, as her fear was mounting with each step out of the place she knew and into one she decidedly did not. "I have faith in those who would protect us," she replied in a gentle voice to Danna. It was the truth, as she had no doubt that the higher stages would be more than capable of protecting them if something happened. Despite the odds of an encounter Outside, that simply was not what was eating her alive.

So, so you think you can tell Heaven from Hell,
blue skies from pain.
Can you tell a green field from a cold steel rail? A smile from a veil?
Do you think you can tell?

And did they get you trade your heroes for ghosts?
Hot ashes for trees? Hot air for a cool breeze?
Cold comfort for change? And did you exchange
a walk on part in the war for a lead role in a cage?

How I wish, how I wish you were here.
We're just two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl,
year after year,
running over the same old ground. What have we found?
The same old fears,
wish you were here.

Once in a great while, when the positions of the stars are just right, a seven-year-old rooster will lay an egg. Then, along will come a snake, to coil around the egg, or a toad, to squat upon the egg, keeping it warm and helping it to hatch. When it hatches, out comes a creature called basilisk, or cockatrice, the most deadly of all creatures. A single glance from its yellow, piercing toad's eyes will kill both man and beast. Its power of destruction is said to be so great that sometimes simply to hear its hiss can prove fatal. Its breath is so venomous that it causes all vegetation to wither. There is, however, one creature which can withstand the basilisk's deadly gaze, and this is the weasel. No one knows why this is so, but although the fierce weasel can slay the basilisk, it will itself be killed in the struggle. Perhaps the weasel knows the basilisk's fatal weakness: if it ever sees its own reflection in a mirror it will perish instantly. But even a dead basilisk is dangerous, for it is said that merely touching its lifeless body can cause a person to sicken and die.

15. In what type of tree was Merlin Imprisoned?

She was mildly comforted by Danna's attempt to reassure her, even if the idea of her discomfort was misplaced. Arwen couldn't describe it more than being vaguely agoraphobic in her disinclination to leave her comfort zone. The Melancholy girl thought on the Philosophy class that felt as though it had happened a lifetime ago; praying to Gods for protection and more importantly, Karma. A very faint smile tugged at the edges of her lips, hearing his words in her mind: There are no coincidences.

They were all out here for a good reason, one that would help others; what goes around comes around, so Karma said. Her normally porcelain skin was a touch paler than usual, were that at all possible. Arwen repeated a personal mantra to herself, trying to keep herself as collected as possible in the face of perhaps her only true aversion, I am not my fear.
