Hehe. Another reason why it pays to have annoying younger siblings! Something to the extent of "I'm really hungry for this, would you pretty please go order if for me". ((My little sister is way too nice to me...))

I'm one of those artists that would probably take a bullet for my art ((and for my good friends too!)) Dressing is a form of art, most definately.

aww
My mom..she doesnt really care what I wear..you know, but my father..He is too "over-protective" of me and I hate it.
He seems that if I wear lets say a pair of shoes that have little pirate skulls on the lace..he'll flip and get me a long lecture on how Im going down the "wrong" path.
When I sometimes flip in my school and get a low grade he tells me that Im going to end up like some teenage pregant woman!
I think he just likes to lower the chance of me doing bad,but with my style? He'll never agree with me.

My dad's over protective too, though he can't complain aobut skull and crossbones, because for our boat he has a jolly roger flag which we always fly. Though my dad is understanding about my grades, even when they do on occassion get low.

When I first told my mother about Lolita, she seemed to disapprove because she thought it was supposed to be like the novel Lolita. But then I showed her some pictures on the net and she completely changed her mind. I still haven't told my dad about it, just because of the way he'd react to the name. Neither of my parents care about the 'Gothic' bit, though.
I've never had any problems really with Lolita. The most that's ever happened was when my friend told me her mum said my style was 'stupid, like a doll.' rolleyes

Well, my biggest problem is... I don't have money to dress Lolita. gonk Buying imports is really expensive, even more in Brazil, where the currency is much less valuable than dollar or euro. Even if it were in our currency, it'd be really expensive for me. crying
Besides that, I'm in college now, so I have to spend with books and drawing material. Not saying that this is bad *huggles newbought Art History book* heart

When I have time, I'll start sewing classes! biggrin

My mom thinks it's a little ridiculous, and she's also afraid of me getting bullied on the street... Y'know, it's quite different of the way people dress here. But that's not a big deal, because she can't say what I have or have not to wear...
But I share her concern about people on the street... I'm a very shy person, but the dress styles I like are very extravagant - oh, the drama xd

Also, I live in Rio, which is a very hot place... Lolita can't survive in 40ÂșC heat rofl

In a nutshell, my problem is money - donate to me now! scream

xd

yes my bosom friend. too bad our mothers are too narrow minded to see the possitive sides of living in the mind state of a lolita. all they can see is the outer shell.

I've decided that before I start going around in the lolita fashion, that I'd first improve my manners and learn to sew and bake. Then I'd inform my mother about what I plan to do.

I just hope she doesn't say that it's just some perverse fashion that make older men want to oggle your lace clad body.

I said, "Mom, I like loli fashion. It's Victorian and stuff."

"Oh," said my mom. "It's that sweet Victorian thing, isn't it? Where they pose like this?" And she pulled a VERY loli-looking pose/expression.

"Yes," I said, shocked out of my wits that my mom knew what it was.

"Okay." said my mom. "You need to be girlier anyway."

"WOW YOU LOOK REALLY CUTE!" said my dad. >_>

You know what's sad? When I tried (still do when it's not too hot out) to dress EGA -- which consisted of my platform buckled cloggers (clogs with a back), striped blue knee-length socks, black pinstripe slacks, black button-up shirt and blue-striped tie (kinda matched the socks sweatdrop )--my ex-boyfriend/now just friend says I'm emo! gonk scream crying

On another sad note, my dear blue-striped socks are finally no more crying
Do you have any idea how rare it is to find knee-length striped socks in Bend, Oregon?? *burns out*

A bit. What's annoying is when those with depression and can't help it are called emo (I fit into that category...)

Oh dear, I have a perfect story.

I work in an outdoor mall. It's a lovely area with fountains and flower gardens, so I'm very lucky. My job allows and encourages me to wear my lolita clothing so I dress casual to true lolita every time I work.

One day I got off work at 10PM and waited outside the store to be picked up. I stood there a long time waiting. It was odd because usually I don't have to wait for more than 5 minutes. It was a nice weather day though so I didn't mind waiting a little longer. I sat down and watched the cars drive down the street, hoping the next one would be for me.

I waited for hours, till all the other stores had closed, and the employees had all gone home... The cars had stopped driving by and many of the lights had gone out. I was all alone sitting outside, still waiting to be picked up.

I don't carry a watch so I didn't know just how long I had been waiting but I decided I needed to call home, to see if my ride had fallen asleep. I checked the map to see where the public phones were (I haven't had a cell since December *pout*). I located the phones icon and trotted off to make my call. When I arrived at the location of the so called public phone, it wasn't a phone at all. Just a "call button" for assistence... But it was after hours so it was turned off. A lot of help that did.

I walked back to my store and waited a little longer. Still no one came... so I decided to start walking toward home... dispite the fact I don't know exactly how to get there. I was at the main highway when I saw someone walking to his car. I asked him if he knew what time it was and he told me it was just after midnight. I explained my situation and he offered to drive me home. I was hesitance but I figured I couldn't get home any other way. I had tried to call home on his cell but no one picked up.

Sadly I am terrible at giving directions so I wasn't much help. He stopped to ask an ambulance which was parked nearby for directions. They then took care of me and he went home. The ambulance people honestly thought I was mad. They kept asking what year it was and what country I was in and how old I was and what not. I told them I was not crazy but that just seemed to make them think I was even more so. They asked if I was on any medications and I said I was not. They called the police who them came and questioned me more. They also thought I was insane. They seemed to think I was "dangerous" and "A threat"... They patted me down and searched my purse and what not. It took an hour before I convinced them that I was really just trying to get home. They hesitantly let me in the police car, but not without turning on a video camera and aiming it at me the whole time "Just in case"... It was the worst night ever.

When I did finally arrive home I found out that my ride had fallen asleep and dreamed that he went to pick me up. So when he woke up he thought I was already home... *dies*

Moral of the story? Police and medical workers think lolitas are crazy serial killers...

I see that I'm lucky. alot of mothers don't like the style, but mine adores it. I love seeing her smile when I dress psuedo-loli. when she encourages the lolita style, I know I have the coolest mom in the world.

My journey to Lolita-dom hasn't been too difficult, as my whole family is creative, and therefore very supportive of who I am.

My only difficulty with getting Lolita was the money for it. my mom has nothing saved up so she's not an option for help, so as soon as I turned 16 I applied for a job at the local grocery store. Certainly a job Momoko would NOT approve of, because I have to take out massive cans of garbage (so HEAVY!), change the bottle return machine bins, sweat, bag groceries and take them out to people's cars, but I love my job. I used to be painfully shy; before I got that job I tried to apply at another place and I couldn't even walk up to the manager to give her my application!
My job has made me far more social, which I find to be a key part of lolita, but it's sort of made me lose some of my lolita mannerisms. D: must work on retreiving those.

anyway, I have finally ordered a lolita dress this week. I'm estatic and I can't wait to get it! any day now~
