BerylAlexandros I also heard that Connecticut might be legalizing it soon... or at least civil unions. I guess it's that civil unions are pretty likely, and there's a chance they'll go ahead and make it marriage. Better than my stupid state... awesome.

Brad_Margera KrauseMouse Basically it was shouted out so everyone could hear it, and it was about how love REALLY IS between two human beings who really love one another, and that no government should say that if you're the same sex Wow, this is the most retarded thing I've heard of. First of all, do you honestly beleive that the government is going to think, 'Oh my gosh, these people are faking gay marriage in a protest! We're going to have to stop this Constitutional ammendment thing right away!' I'd hate to ruin your hope but it isn't the way things are. Man and man aren't meant to be together. Woman and woman aren't meant to be together. Marriage is a sacred binding of Man and Woman. The point of Marriage is to intend to have children. And don't say gay couples can get kids through adoption. They shouldn't be able to. It isn't right. If you think that gay marriage and gay people having kids is right I suggest you rethink your morals. In case you couldn't tell... heart I support the Constitutional Ammendment Against Same Sex Marriage heart -Thus concludes this rant.- While I will disagree with you to my dying day, I support your right to voice your opinion. Especially in this thread, where the current poll is about 85% in support of same-sex marriage...it takes guts to disagree so strongly like that. But with all due respect, do you honestly think that just because you don't believe something is right, there should be a constitutional amendment banning everyone from it? If you don't like the idea of same-sex marriage, don't take part in it. Don't agree with it. Stay true to your beliefs. Just don't force thousands of other people to give up happiness so you can stay in your safe, homophobe bubble. Interracial marriage used to be extremely controversial in the US, too. But now it happens all the time. Do you think interracial marriage is wrong? I don't. But even if I did, I wouldn't support an amendment forcing the entire country to adopt a law against it. It's fine with me if you are opposed to same-sex marriage. Just don't shove your beliefs down the country's throat with a constitutional amendment against it. If you think that doing so is right, I suggest YOU rethink your morals.

1. I'm not a homophobe 2. The Constitutional ammendment is in hopes of protecting the sacredness and rightfullness of marriage. 3. No problems with interracial. It's kinda wierd, but it's ok as long as it's man and woman.

Before someone starts flaming, and I know we all want to, its freedom of speech. He has the right to counter what we are saying, just as long as he is able to prove that what he is stating makes sense to some extent.

In case you couldn't tell... heart I support the Constitutional Ammendment Against Same Sex Marriage heart -Thus concludes this rant.- I never said the ACT of the protest was what we were doing to try to make people listen to us... that was just fun. NEXT to the marriages was a full 3 long tables end-to-end with people writing letters and signing petitions for support of gay marriage...
THAT, my friends, is what we hope will make the difference. Not just being loud and fake-marrying straight people to their straight friends or gay people to their straight friends or gay people to their lovers--who they WISH they could someday marry. wink
Love is Love... No matter what the gender of the person you happen to fall in love with. I'm straight! I don't have a PERSONAL vested interest in granting gay couples their marriage rights... But I have friends in committed, loving, homosexual relationships. I don't feel that they should be denied the rights or the ceremony of legal marriage just because when they put their parts together they can't MAKE a kid! (I also CERTAINLY think that most gay couples are fit to make wonderful, caring, and nuturing adoptive parents... but that's another subject.) The POINT of marriage is to be legally and spiritually connected with the person you love. It has NOTHING to do with what body parts you have or don't have.
Anyway, as much as I completely disagree with you (and I have tried here to make an argument for my side, although I hadn't felt was neccesary before), I DO agree that it is certainly fine to voice your opinion AGAINST a certain idea... But please, Brad, be calm and KIND when you express why you feel a certain way, without being nasty and single-minded like most right-wingers and homophobes are(perhaps your aggressiveness against what I/we had to say is what got you lumped into that category by a previous poster)...
You can disagree with an idea and still accept that differing opinions are just as valid as yours.
Oh, and the fact that you called me pretty much called me 'retarded' for voicing MY opinion, and for expressing joy in a form of peaceful protest that I was involved in, and passionate about, is JUST about enough to get you kicked out of this guild. Please watch what you say, or at least how you say it, to people around here!!! Especially when you are being rude to the creator of your guild.
In LOVE, ~Mouse~

In LOVE, ~Mouse~I'm not being rude, I'm saying how I feel about very very stupid forms of protest. And this isn't the only one. The damn pro life people standing on the street corner irritate me. The only way we're going to ban abortion is by electing the right leaders. And I don't aprreciate being called single-minded, a right winger, and a homphobe. I don't need a politcal party to tell me how to think which is why I'm independent. And I'm not afraid of gay people, I just realize that's it's wrong, immoral, and anti-sacramental for them to marry.

Hon, you don't "realize" anything... you THINK that, even BELIEVE it... but it's not a realization of any great TRUTH... it's just one point of view.
And I never CALLED you any of those other things... I tried to show you how being snarky and offensive when expressing your opinions might make people equate you with any or all of those terms.
I don't want to delete this thread. But I'd say since it's fairly obvious where you stand and where I stand that the actual ARGUING should stop.

Something that I'm a little confused about is how people could think that its terrible to make fun of blacks, but its perfectly ok to poke jokes about gays. The old insult used to be "shut up *****." Now its "Shut up you little f**. Man, thats so gay."

its because theire affraid they will be called rasist. Gay people are sadly not accepted everyvere yet and are not a race of theire own... so the would only be homophobe if they were seen pulling a gay-joke.
