He paused in his nervous pacing to look over at the obviously bored nezumi, an experated sigh causing air to displace some of the barely-visible smoke that lingered about him. "Don't you think it would be a better idea to find out what happened here before we act rashly?"

Desc sighs quite loudly back at the spiritfolk. "They killed their leader or sumthin'. I'm sure thaz against sum law er another." He stops playing with his naginata, thinking to himself that the spiritfolk was right, it was better to find out what happened and more importantly find out who this samurai was. "Well, not that I really care if there is one less samurai," he mumbles to himself in nezumi.

Hantei took offense to Desc's comment. For now. though, they might've been testing the waters. Seeing who might react to what. After all, the nezumi should've known that he was a samurai. "I think we should wait, Nezumi. If we can save this village, then why wouldn't we?" Clearly, there would be a large penalty to pay - they had murdered a samurai - but... Hantei valued life.
There were a lot of strange things about this village - it was renowned to have its silk, but there was not a single worked tree. He began to get curious..
Hantei looked around.

Desc turns toward the samurai with a sarcastic smile on his face and shrugs. He then turns away from the samurai. He had had his fair share of run-ins with samurai. Though most of the time his band's leader elected to run away and not attempt to kill the samurai. He shakes his head and tries to forget about the one samurai that the band did foolishly attack. He turns to look at the naga, wondering why he asked the question his did. Wondering if he sensed disappointment in the naga's voice. Maybe naga ate babies. Oh well, he didn't know anything about nagas and perhaps it was better to stay that way.

Spot check results:
You notice that three of the peasant men are mildly injured (cuts, a bandaged arm, etc.)
Would the samurai (or anyone else) have any questions for the people other than the one the naga presented?

He saw the signs of an obvious struggle, his mind drifts for a moment as he wonders just how many in the village wee killed for there to be such a stench hanging in the air. He folded his arms again and glanced again to the threes. He puts the thought into the back of his mind as he adresses one of the villagers
"Just how long ago has it been since the silk pods were tended to?"

Saliv stretches his long green coils out making him look taller, and his eyes falsh giving him a feral look about him, a pleasent smile crossess his face showing razor like fangs.
" You would like that would you Nezumi, to kill these pathetic beasts and take away all that they love. I see it in your eyes....I detest mindless slaughter."

Desc is taken by surprise by the naga's comment, especially since his mind was just on the topic of naga eating babies. He stares blankly at the naga for a second before responding, "Iz not dat. They asked fer it, they broke a law, itinit the correct punis'ment? He then whipsers to himself in nezumi, "'sides, I don't wan' to take anything from 'em, well, anything not valuable that iz."

Mostlyfiller "Just how long ago has it been since the silk pods were tended to?" The old man again speaks for the village. " It has been only 2 days since we killed the magistrate and his men, and all work stopped."

He shook his head and frowned, the answer didn't seem to make sense. "You keep saying 'we' that doesn't make sense: Did everyone in this village partake in the killing? And for that matter, what caused this mess in the first place?"

"There are far too many.. openings here. There are many things unsolved - the silk being gone, after two days. The children. . . And there are no people in the houses. Where is everyone else?" Hantei was suspiscious already, and had only seen a couple of peasants hurt. He would have expected many more, or none at all. There was no in-between. "... Where are the other samurai?"

And for that matter, what caused this mess in the first place?" At this question, the peasants look terribly frightened, and many of the women weep out loud. Many peer up slightly at the samurai in terror, but noone answers. Finally the old man begins to speak, haltingly. " Please, just pass your sentence on us. We cannot speak of the evil which has befallen our village, lest IT strike us down. Please save us from that fate!" He is obviously in mortal fear of something, and sneaks a glance over his shoulder, down the road to the east.
