"Spirits... as in ghosts. Evil, malicious, you name it." A devious smile. He had left his lantern again, feeling no need for it at the moment. If he had had it, he most certainly would have showed her.

"Oh, sounds creepy." Mayu managed, and she attempted a nervous smile. The thought of ghosts was really unnerving, and yet this boy hunted them.
"You see, I can't even watch the documentaries they have on TV. My mom sat me down at the couch and made me watch one with her once, and it was just ... scary!" She shuddered, hating to think back on what she had seen. Having not gained her guardian's nerves of steel, she had to watch through her fingers -- and even then, it was still bad.

"They have... documentaries, on teevee?" Loki wasn't one much for watching the television, and this intrigued him; others hunted them as he did? How very curious, indeed.
"What do they do?"

"They do! Though I've never heard of a demon hunter. They always called in a priest or a pastor or something." With a listless sigh, the girl began recalling the details she had remembered from the shows she had been forced to watch, still shaken by the images she had seen. Although they were recreated scenes of the actual events, they still chilled her to the core.

At the word 'priest', Loki's right hand immediately trailed smoothly to his left arm, tracing down the side of it. Oh yes, he remembored exorcising those angry spirits, even as good as they were. No one crossed him to hurt Lola, and he'd hate to think what they would have done to her.
"Some priests aren't that good." He found himself saying, and sneezed.

Looking confused, Mayu tried to bring up a proper response to Loki's statement. She wasn't properly educated to have a full conversation on specters and the such, and she was merely muddling through the conversation with hardly a clue as to what to say.
"Well, I suppose that they aren't really trained to exorcise demons rather than to pray and to do religious work," Mayu said, after thinking her reply over thoroughly. "Bless you," she dropped in, remembering her manners.

At her last words, Loki bellowed his laughter, unable to contain himself any longer. She was rediculously funny in her own way, and Loki was cheered quite a bit by her little quirks. (Or so he thought she had.)
"Praying... I've never done that before. I... refused to. Not really my thing," Loki murmured, leaning heavily against the wall now as he ceased to laugh, staring at her with keen eyes and a bland expression.
"Say... how about you and me visit a haunted house?" And then came the dark grin.

Mayu blinked in curiosity, wondering what she said was so funny that it caused the boy to burst out laughing like that. Nothing humorous that she had said came to mind, and she wondered if he was just plain weird.
"A haunted house?" She asked, jaw dropped. Was he daft? They were dusty and smelly and insect-ridden and scary! Well, she didn't quite mind the insects, they were fine, even a little charming. But a haunted house had ghosts, and ghosts were not fine at all!
Opening her mouth to say no, Mayu halted herself as she noticed Loki's little smirk. He, it looked like, was taunting her. Really, how impolite! "Sure," she said at first shakily, voice becoming stronger as she confirmed her approval. "Sounds fun."
Oy, what had she gotten herself into?

A chuckle. "Let's go then. I'll have to pick up my lantern on the way... do you want to lead, or should I? I'm not sure if there are any houses that are haunted, but with such a girl as you, I'm sure it's not that hard to find one." Loki snorted, standing up straight.

"You lead, I suppose." Mayu sighed, looking toward the door. "After all, I'm pretty clueless." Stating the obvious, she pushed herself up from her sitting position and set towards the door.
"So, where to?"

Signalling with a hand, Loki led the way, keeping silent for the moment. It seemed like a long while as he walked, and as he did so his hand reached up to tug idly at the flame-scarf he wore. In a way, he was glad he had it - even without the lantern, controlling flames was a need-to-do in tight situations, and he couldn't carry his lantern everywhere.
It had taken him a long time to learn that truth: not all demons could be exorcised.
"Stay here," He murmured, drawing up on a huge mansion and leaning against the huge front doorway, listening intently. No noise. Opening the door softly, Loki disappeared halfway in, then drew out with a large lantern, shutting the door without a sound.
"Let's go," He murmured, swinging it around his head on the silk ribbon that was tied around the handle, smirking with pride. "I'll show you the real way to exorcise a spirit."

Mayu followed Loki slowly, trailing behind clumsily as she muddled in her thoughts. Stupid pride. Stupid mouth. She really had to think for herself sometime, and not let her silly pride take over. Besides, wasn't pride one of the seven deadly sins?
Staring up at the mansion with wide eyes, Mayu couldn't help but gawk. And here she thought her own house was big! Wondering how its residents could ever walk through the mansion without getting lost within the corridors, Mayu was suddenly snapped back to Earth by the boy's words.
"Right, right! Lead the way!" She spoke up, ready to follow.

Giving a glance back to the house, Loki gave a slight wave at it, knowing full well that the mansion's spirit was watching them. He'd be back... most likely to say goodbye. It wasn't his home; he felt he didn't truly belong.
Tilting his head as Loki walked away, he glanced to Mayu. "Any houses that scare you? That you get an eerie feeling from?"

Shaking her head, Mayu admitted that she was really dead weight when it came to the supernatural. Her sixth sense was probably dead, that, or microscopic in size.
"No," she said with a small sigh. "I'm not ... really in tune with the other dimension, if you can call it that."

"Mmmm... not much use," Loki murmured, drawing back and thinking for a moment.
"Well, if you or I don't know of any places offhand, then I suppose there's nothing we can do~"
