"Heh, you haven't met my mother." Ra said with a slight snort of laughter. At the mention of the word 'gents' Ra looked between Xel and Kayne again. His eyes resting on Xel, his physic, his voice. The penny finally dropped. "Xel, I don't mean to be offensive, but ... are you a guy?" It seemed obvious now he had voiced it. How come he didn't see before. Raising an eyebrow he turned back to Kayne.
"That's a bold statement. One you might have to prove." He challenged with a grin.

"Kusani... are you completely off your rocker? Of course he's guy," Kayne laughed, looking from Xel to Ra. Seriously... he had met some dense people, but Ra was taking the cake. "You honestly thought he was a girl?" Kayne looked back over to Xel and the loaded looks finally made sense. Oops. Sorry bud... should have been nicer to me, he grinned to himself. But at Ra's next words a shadow crossed Kayne's face.
"Just take my words as truth. I've never steered you wrong before Kusani," he replied and looked away over Ra's shoulder.

"Arg..Kayne!" He glared at the boy a moment but then turned it really didn't matter at this point. "Yeah whatever..." he muttered to Ra shaking his head. "I'm surprised you didn't figure it out sooner. I didn't hide it all that well." His mannerisms, dress, the way he talked it all should have led to one conclusion by now.
Shoving hands in pocket once more he looked to Kayne a moment, "I don't take you as a guy to pick on girls so, what happened to Aine? When I got back she was crying?" Xel asked, no venom in his words just genuinely concerned weither it be Kayne or something that happened at her homestay.

"Hey, I've only met you once." He said in his defense glaring at Xel. "Everyone refered to you as female, I just thought you were a really butch and manish girl."
Catching the warning tension behind Kayne's voice he chose not to persue any further. If Kayne wanted to talk about it he would. At the mention of another girl Ra looked once again between Kayne and Xel. Was this the girl that had Kayne so upset?
"Sorry, I've been hiding in my room too long. Who is Aine?"

Kayne looked back over at Xel, almost sizing him up. Then glanced over at Ra.
"Aine is Xel's roommate and I happened to fall into the role of knight in shining armor for her. Thus all this," he said gesturing to his face.
"And if she hasn't told you, I'm not going to. But I'll have you know it had nothing to do with me," he answered Xel.

Xel could only laugh at what Ra said, it did make since they really never hung around each other much. And it was easy to assume when others were doing the same. "No harm done really...just thought you'd figure it is all."
He gave Kayne a look that really had no meaning more confused if anything. "Well if you didn't want to go why did you?" He could only assume the boy was mad he looked upset. "Anyway, its really none of my business she hasn't said anything, though, she's been in a fit for the past few days after returning but I guess she's doing better." He shrugged it was hard to tell. "She's got the living room scattered with fabrics and mannaqins and s**t...its hard to keep the place clean when she's in fashion mode." He could only roll his eyes in mock annoyance, it didn't bother him that much as long as it helped her out.

Ra listened to both of them talk about Aine. She sounded like trouble, not that he could talk. If Kayne had been protecting her from someone violent Ra could safely assume that he would have done the same.
He looked between the two of them again, there was definitely some tension there, but knowing Kayne the way he did it wasn't very suprising.
"Eh?" he said to Xel's comment. "He didn't say he didn't want to go."

Kayne sighed. After the fight with Cirrus and issues with Jess, rehashing the events of the weekend were not high on his priority list. But it was better than nothing.
"I did want to go. I wanted to go and make Aine happy. I just didn't expect her b*****d of an ex to be there. Though I should have know I suppose," he said, sending Ra a warm glance in thanks for backing him up. "I would tell you Xel, you seem to want to protect her, but it's just not my place. Just know that it wasn't pretty and she has every right to some time to heal." Kayne looked down at his hands. He hoped Aine really was okay.

Xel looked behind him to Ra then back to Kayne. Sighing he backed down he could see Kayne's concern for Aine so figured it wasn't his place to prod the boy. "Well she's getting along, in case you wanted to know. I'm sure a visit would be a good idea when you're up to it." He offered, "I'll even be a good boy." He held up his hands in fashion of scouts honor.
"Anyway, this talk about girls and troubles is making me hungry and starting to piss me off." He looked to the sky. "Unless you guys have something else in mind I'm going to check out this cafe down the road...they say its decent. I guess it wouldn't hurt to try it out." He said eyeing them both for comfirmation.

Ra shrugged and looked out at the clear sky. "I'm not too hungry and totally broke for the rest of the month." Ra said with a small shrug. "I'd rather go to the canteen or just grab something from a vending machine."
He looked between Kayne and Xel again. "Or if you are both desperate to get off campus I'll come along and just drink water or something."

Kayne nodded at Xel then looked over at Ra when he spoke up. "Come on Ra. It's time to get your moping arse off this campus. I'll spot you. No arguing," Kayne said, rising to his feet. He wasn't all that hungry either, but the confies of Aquila were seriously starting to strain on his nerves. It would mean he would have less of a chance to run into Jess. He just wasn't ready for that.

With everyone in on this little trip, they all took a bus down to the local cafe. Xel was first off the bus and most exciting considering he'd never really gone off campus until now. "Man this is great!" looked around smelling the ocean off in the far distance it would be nice to go out there some day but it was quite far.
Once inside they shown to their seats by a waitress who handed them each a menu and smiled as she skuttled off to the back. "Hmm?" Xel looked at the menu using the picture samples to help. He eyed the menu approvingly as he wondered about the ingridents of each dish. Hey he was an aspiring chef after all, it might be a while before he orders.

Being a language nerd Ra quite enjoyed the bus journey, trying to match the words the recording with each saying to the kanji that appeared on the scrolling display. Once inside the cafe he sat down and smiled at the dated decor and bad spellings on the menu.
"I'll just have a coffee thanks Kayne." He said leaning back in the seat.
"Have either of you been exploring much outside of campus?"

Kayne glanced up at Ra's question, then back at the menu in front of him. On a normal day, the food would have appeared extremely appetizing. But today nothing was very appealing. Sighing he shoved the menu off to the side.
"Not too much. I've been to the beach a couple of times and then there was that one time when we went out with that Sorakai guy. Oh... and the cherry blossom festival," Kayne flushed as he listed all the places he had been. Each one had memories attatched to them, all of them connected to Jess in one way or another. He glanced at Ra in apology at the mention of their first time out and the festival. Those just had not been pleasant times between him and Kusani. Sighing again, he looked over at Xel.
"How about you? What have you see?" he asked him.

Xel was animated looking at the menu, "I wonder if I could talk to the cook?" He muttered to himself, forgotten the two boys with him. As he continued to admire the dishes he looked up only when he noticed the others were looking to him. Flushing visibly he set the menu down going through his mind to replay the question asked.
Finally it clicked, "Oh uh...nah. This is my first time out." He said looking across them out the window. "I use one of those grocery services to have my food delivered to the school. Guess I never noticed how much of a hermit I was..." he chuckled scratching the back of his head as he picked up the menu and studied the entrees again.
