DeadCinderella
My friend Ashes was reading a book and I asked her what it was. She told me a book about Wicca. She let me see it and I started rading it. Then my ex let me borrow his book, I had it for a while and got really into it. Then I looked stuff up on the net and here we are now biggrin

BTW, off topic but my ex is a loser. On his bookbag he has "only Jesus can judge me." Then he has a wicca book and says he is going to 'try it.' Now he says he is going to sell his soul to the 'devil' for immortality rolleyes

Sorry, had to get that out whee

More than a few religious commitment issues by the sounds of things o_O xd

Do you belive in the devil?

I don't know if this was directed at Rachel(/DeadCinderella), or at everyone in general, but I figure I'll go anyway. :XP:

Personally I don't. I believe more in positive and negative energies- which could be treated as a religious translation of god and the devil if you wished I suppose.

Merry meet everyone! I like sharing this particular story. It brings me great joy when I would oft feel great sadness, so I would like to share it with everyone here.

It was about four years, five this coming July, when I stumbled through the new age section of our sole bookstore, Waldenbooks. I'd have past the section if it weren't for this pretty pale-soft blue book.

The book was titled 'The Wicca Handbook' by Eileen Holland. After an uneasy ten minutes, I was raised in a semi-christian family, curiousity and a love for the anomalies bid me at least read the introduction.

I absolutely love the book, and the authoress, because of her book. She explained some of the basic misconceptions, the differences (as generally seen by her) between witchs/wiccans/and pagans. Then she moved into natural witchs in the first chapter.

To determine if you were a 'natural witch' she asked some questions, which I'll directly quote as I still have the book. The following:

A natural witch is a born witch, someone who requires no initiation. This may be someone who is a hereditary witch raised in a family tradition, or someone who was a witch, priest/ess, or adept in a previous life.

Look for clues in your life, your family history, your birth chart, and your dreams to discover if you are a natural witch. Did you ever wish something and have it come true, to your horror or surprise? Did you suspect you caused this, intentionally or otherwise? Perhaps you did. Have you always known you were different from other people? Were you a pagan sort of child? Have you dreamt ancient dreams? Do you seem to have a natural affinity for magic? Have you got psychic gifts? Is there an ancient culture to which you are irresistibly drawn? Do inexplicable thins happen to or around you? All these are indications.

If you suspect you're a natural witch, you probably are. There are more people alive on the planet right now than have lived in all of human history, so it makes sense that many of us are Old Souls. Recycling is pleasing to the Goddess.

The passage struck home on so many chords that without a backwards thought I bought the book. I decided to hold off practicing magic until I am older, have come out of the broom closet to ALL of my family members, and allow them to see maturity in me. In the meantime, I like to talk about it and study up and gather supplies. Though it seems to be a long and slow road.

In the meantime, when I think I might waver, I just pull out Holland's book and right myself.

Sorry, if you thought this was long, I tend to tell and write stories.

And the devil question? I say there is no good or evil, only malice and healing intent, or none at all. Weather reflects the Goddess' emotions and is at her command, except for the weather magic of course!

No I do not beleive in the devil either.
I am not sure why, everything about him, like his tales, his whole living in hell just doesn't seem to be true. I thinks it's ridicolous but I do beleive there is a bad side and a good side for everything, nothing can be perfect, but as perfect as it can be.

the think i dont get about Christians is...
If god is so perfect, divine and holy, then how come if you dont do what he says you go to a place called hell where you burn to death and other horrible stuff for the rest of your afterlife?
Isn't he supposed to be the good guy?

A Pagan dies and, to his great surprise, he finds himself standing before some pearly gates. The Pagan asks, "Where am I?"

Peter says, "You're at the gates of heaven."

The Pagan says, "But I don't believe in heaven."

Peter frowns at him. "You're one of those Pagans, aren't you?"

"Yes. I believe I'm in the wrong place; I'm supposed to go to Summerland."

Peter says, "Sorry. We took over Summerland, and it's temporarily closed for remodeling."

"What should I do now?"

Peter says, "Well, since we don't allow Pagans in heaven, you have to go to hell. Sorry. Just follow that path that leads downward and to the left."

The Pagan walks down to hell, where the gates are standing open. He walks in and finds beautiful meadows, happy animals, and clear streams of water.

He walks on in and begins exploring, and after a few minutes a courtly gentleman walks up to him and bows politely. "Hello, I'm Satan. You must be the guy that St. Peter phoned me about. Are you a Pagan?"

"Yes, I am. What's going to happen now?"

Satan says, "Well, the fishing's pretty good, if you enjoy that sort of thing. There's a little refreshment stand down the road. And I believe the Pagan meeting grounds are right over the next hill."

Suddenly, a hole opens up in the sky above, and a yawning chasm opens directly underneath it. The stench of sulphur fills the air. Hundreds of screaming, tortured souls drop down into the flaming pit, which immediately closes up with a thud.

The Pagan, hardly believing what he just saw, asks Satan, "And what was THAT ???"

Satan rolls his eyes. "Oh, just ignore them. They're Christians; they wouldn't have it any other way."

All I have to say is............SO DAMN TRUE lol

Although that might be true... do we really have the right to talk down on Christians?

I mean, we don't like it when they talk down on Wiccans, do we? But does that make it right? Not at all.

No but thats why its a joke. They don't understand balance and its hilarious.

I think it's more sad than hilarious. Still, it doesn't make it right to make jokes about them.

No jokes are right but poking fun at the truth is razz

I've always been atacted to wicca. I'm not sure how I found out about it though. It seems as if I just knew it existed and I did a search on it. Yeah, that might sound a bit strange but....anyway, I learned more through Silver Ravenwolf's books.
