I have heard in the Suikosource forums that people from the past Suikodens and the SODs will come back to form the last and final set of the 108 SODs. I have also heard that ALL the past SODs will come back to join together. The bearers of the 27 True Runes will be among them too.
To NarumeBleu: You do know that nothing lasts forever right? And the staff members would have to get a lot of plastic surgery to stay alive forever...

Wait, but I'm confused how some of them would come back because the game goes like 100+ years later x.x;. I know true runes give immortality, but wasn't like... the Shield Rune and the Black Sword Rune were reincarnations of the real thing, so they don't grant immortality... >_> @@ Yeah, I'm confused.

Actually, Black Sword and Bright Shield aren't reincarnations. They were supposed that they were reincarnations of the Sword and Shield that fought for 7 days and created the world and the 27 True Runes. Black Sword and Bright Shield are the pieces of the Rune of Beginning. True they don't grant immortality but what if Riou and Jowy stayed by each other's side always? That's like having the Rune of Beginning together. Or perhaps the runes join together when one of them die?

Quote: Or perhaps the runes join together when one of them die? Actually, that's one of the endings for Suiko II. If you choose to kill Jowy, Riou -will- receive the Black Sword Rune and Jowy will die in his arms. However, Riou and Jowy can live together- as proven in the 'happy' ending that you get if you manage to collect all 108 SODs.

I meant that if one died from an accident of some sort or something to that effect, then wouldn't the other half transport to the other one? That's what I mean.

Well, so far in the gaming world, I have yet to see a game character get involved in an 'accident' (unless, of course, you count dating sims, but that's another matter altogether).
Theoretically, if one of them did die, I believe that yes, the the True Runes WILL be combined to form the True Rune of Beginning once more, but of course, the other (still living) bearer will definitely know of his comrade's death.
However, considering the fact that the True Runes prevent death due to natural incidents (like aging, disease etc.), it may be a debatable subject. whee

As unbelievable as it may be, I would like to see all the main characters who owned True Runes, to get together to fight a greater evil. A flik cameo would also be nice wink

Hmmm, while I do agree that making a series go on for too long can sort of um, water the whole thing down so to speak, I can also think back to Final Fantasy where my favorites didn't come until 4, 5, and 6. However they haven't made a Final Fantasy that I've truely loved since Final Fantasy VI either.
I don't know if they could ever top Suikoden II and I don't think I'd want to see a game where they try to cram every hero and important character into one big final showdown with some huge mega evil threat. It just wouldn't be Suikoden in my opinion. If they make a final game they should just try to make the best Suikoden game ever with a great castle system and a good story about friendship, sacrifice, hard decisions, and what it means to struggle for what you believe in. There should be plenty of surprises and secrets and a good helping of familiar faces and some new ones too.
Sadly as a series grows many of it's fans begin looking more fondly at it's past than eagerly awaiting what is in it's future.

well, if they will ever end suikoden... which i doubt will be anytime soon due to its popularity... i would think they would set it in harmonia with hikusaak as the main antagonist and will finally reveal the secret of viki and jeanne... actually my bet is on viki since she's been dropping off a lot of hints to her past on all 4 games so far (i.e. the existence of little(chibi) viki (gs3 and gaiden 2), her familiarity with the fog ship (gs4), and her power of mass teleportation).
of course, sasarai would also be there...

I hope Suikoden never dies. I think its as great a series as the Final Fantasys and they never die. It would be tragic if they ever stopped making the Suikodens

My guess is that the 27 true runes will reunite into one and burn the world to ashes in a catastrophic fire.
